Shaky Grounds
It was about six in the morning when the feeling of nausea washed over y/n’s body. Her boyfriend Tom was a heavy sleeper, so she tiptoed her way to the downstairs bathroom to not wake him. She let everything out and laid on the cold tiled ground for a few minutes. The thought kept running through her head, Tom was always careful about these things and making sure kept up on her birth control even though she never forgot either. She knew what she need to do but was to paranoid to do actually go and get a pregnancy test. Pulling some clothes and shoes on, she left to the nearest stores. All the way she didn’t need the reassurance, she knew that deep inside of her a tiny little human was about to take over, but for the peace of mind and sake of proving that the was pregnant was needed.
“Oh God.” y/n sobbed as quietly as she could, it was still a few more hours till Tom woke up. She took three test to actually make sure it was all real, and it was very real. She grabbed all the remains of the pregnancy test and tossed them into her travel bag as well as a few toiletry belongings. She made her way back upstairs and pulled out her luggage, packing away clothes and valuables. Y/n eyed Tom as he pulled the covers closer to his chin, she started sobbing again. His career was just taking off and a baby was surely going to drag him back down, and you two were only living together for about five months now. He would come off irresponsible and foolish, and y/n on the other hand was still in school with two years left of college. She wrote a note down and placed it on his nightstand. Brushing his soft curls behind his ear and kissing his forehead ever so lightly, y/n left their once shared apartment with tear stained cheeks and a guilt most horrid.

“I swear to fucking God pick up!” Tom read her note over and over again. This wasn’t real and he knew she wouldn’t have the heart to break up with him like this. He sat on the edge of his bed, mumbling incoherent sentences as he cried and tried to catch his breath at the same time. He kept having to squint at the screen of his phone from all the tears that kept filling up the brims of his eyes. “She wouldn’t just leave, why would she just leave? Harrison help.” Except Harrison was gone for a modeling gig and was only getting a couple of voicemails from Tom. Tom thought this through in his head for an hour or so before trying to find y/n since she wouldn’t even listen to a voicemail or peek at one of his texts. “She is not leaving until I get an actual to my face.” He grunted as he left the parking garage. He didn’t know where to begin as he drove down the streets, she had nowhere else to go. He looked at the note again as he waited at a light.
I’m sorry i’m telling you like this, but if it
were done any other way, I don’t think I
could have done it.
I don’t think it would be for the best if we
stayed together anymore, I know this is out
of nowhere but I can’t do this anymore.
I’ll be gone by the time you wake up, please
don’t worry about me.
I love you
y/n
She left no hints to where she could be, there’s no way she could have gotten far either. Pulling over on the side of the road he placed his head on the steering wheel, trying to think rationally where you could be. He immediately pulled out his phone as the idea struck him, although you were as famous as Tom, people where always snapping pictures of you, trying to find a story to publish about Y/n and Tom. Googling your name in his phone he scrolled down just a little to find a recently updated tabloid, the only time he was ever grateful for these obnoxious people. He clicked on the article and there you were, pulling a suitcase and bag while holding you hoodie up to hide your face. Tom examined what your surroundings are and checked how long ago the post was published. She couldn’t have gone far off, so he drove around for hours more trying to find you. And it wasn’t till he almost gave up that he saw you sitting outside drinking some coffee and trying to call someone. He couldn’t help but slam his car door closed as he waited to cross the street. She still had tears slowly leaving her face and her hands trembled as she tried calling a friend to crash at. “What the hell Y/n?!” She knew that voice from anywhere, she didn’t look up anyways. “Hey May, I was wondering if I could crash at your place for tonight?” Tom shrugged his shoulders and looked around in disbelief, he couldn’t pick up the pieces as to why y/n was doing all this.
Tom grabbed the phone out of your hand and ended the call. “Get in the car.” He stated as he grabbed your luggage and hauled the bag over his shoulder. “Tom.”, y/n whispered as he nodded his head to the car. “Y/n please, if you really did love me then you would explain what the actual fuck is going on here.” He didn’t wait for her as he put her item into the boot of the car and waited by the passenger door. Y/n didn’t want to make a fit in public, or at least more than she already has today. She trugged over to his car and started sobbing as he shut your door closed and hopped into his seat. He drove for hours until fields of nothing came into view and they were close to the middle of nowhere. The whole ride was filled with y/n crying and Tom tightly gripping the steering wheel. He pulled over and stopped the engine, it was nearing sunset and neither of you had eaten anything but sips of coffee. Tom stared forward, “Why did you just get up leave?” His question was followed by silence, it would’ve been tears but her eyes stopped that hours ago, now they just burn and feel swollen. Tom slammed his right hand onto the top of the wheel, “Y/N?!”. Y/n jumped in her seat, hands shaking and embarrassment filling every cell in her body. Y/n regretted leaving and not saying anything to his face, she thought he would be too angry to let her back in his house. He still didn’t know about the pregnancy either.
Tom started talking and ranting about Y/n and how he was scared and worried out of his mind. “Y/n I was driving for hours and you have no reason to leave me, you didn’t leave any reason. I need you and you need me..” He kept talking for the next ten minutes, getting everything off his chest.
“I’m pregnant.”
You blurted it quietly.
“What?”
“You heard me Tom.”
“Yes I did, but I need you to say it again for me, please.”
Tom grabbed onto y/n’s hand and watched as she closed her eyes in attempt to hide from him. “That shouldn’t be an excuse for you to just leave me like that.” Tom sighed as he rubbed your hand with his thumb. “Unless you don’t love me anymore….”
“No, I do love you more than anything, you know that Tom.”
“Not when you run away like that princess. Why did you leave?”
“I honestly can’t really pin a reason, I think I’m just hormonal and I panicked. I was worried you wouldn’t want me anymore and leave me.” Tom pulled y/n into a hug over the console and taggled his hands into her hair and around her back. “Why would you ever think that?” He whispered. “You know it's not easy be your girlfriend sometimes, when all your lady fans leave rude and nasty comments.” Tom sighed, you guys had talked a bit about this before and how aggressive fans could be. “Please come home.” Y/n just nodded her head and was able to find a few tears left in her body to cry. “We’ll keep talking about this when we get home.” Before Tom even started the car, he unlocked the doors and made his way over to y/n’s side. He opened her door and unbuckled her seat belt, pulling so she was facing Tom. He moved himself between her legs and pulled her into a proper hug. “We need to start house hunting if were going to have a little Holland running around.” He whispered and pulled her into a quick kiss before making their way back home. She explained everything on the way home. Tom smiled as he imagined a little family, everything had a time and place.
