Just saw someone on Twitter post they're on intimacy level 78 for Xavier and I have to remind myself that Love and Deepspace:
1) Is just an otome GAME,
2) It's not a race that I have to compete with everyone to prove that I love Xavier,
3) That I should just enjoy the content AT MY OWN PACE,
4) and that I'm broke and need to save money for me to eat and drink and have a house to live in :D
*sighs* why must otome and gacha games be like this :(

“Someone looks happy today. Who’s got you smiling like that, darling?” You look over at Seokjin who greets you the second you walk into the office today, a mischievous smirk playing on his lips as he crosses his arms over his chest. “Was it a man?” He asks and you feel heat slowly rising upon your cheeks.
He takes note of that.
“Well actually, u-um,” you scratch the back of your head, trying to play it cool but knowing nothing can ever get past the Kim Seokjin.
“No way! You’re serious?” Someone else comes up from the other side of the room and you turn to find Jimin and Taehyung walking over, the older of the 95 liner holding a hand over his gaped mouth as if this was the most shocking news he’s ever heard in his life.
“I never knew you had a man in your life already, Y/N,” Taehyung says with an arm coming over to pull you into a headlock as he ruffles your hair.
“Tae!” You whine, pouting slightly at his antics. “I don’t have a man but there was this cute barista I saw just a few blocks away.”
“Damn! She’s now taken!” He smacks his hands over his heart in a dramatic gesture you have to push him off you a bit so the coffee in your hand doesn’t spill over.
“I’m not,” you reiterate.
“But there’s a chance, yeah?” Seokjin says as he takes your coffee cup without permission to show off the number written there. “He gave you his number.”
“That’s…” You avert your eyes, biting your lower lip.
“Ooh, look at that,” Jimin takes the cup in his hand, examining it with a playful snicker, “he drew a little heart.”
“Stop it guys, you’re embarrassing.” You try to take your coffee back, only they don’t give you a chance.
“Hey if it doesn’t work out, you can always come back into my arms to cry, yeah? I’ll always be right here to cheer you up.” Despite how playful he sounds right now, you know there’s always a high chance Taehyung means it more than anything. It doesn’t take over the fact that his constant flirting doesn’t always get you worked up, however.
“I-I don’t think I’ll be needing it but uh, thanks for the offer.”
“Well, whatever happens,” you see Seokjin take the coffee back from Jimin who’s still laughing over the little note the barista gave you, in order to hand it back to you, “as long as you’re happy, that’s all that matters.”
You feel a light pat on your head, a gentle gesture he tends to do when he wishes to cheer you up.
Ah. How sweet.
You feel your heart skip a beat.
“...Thanks Jin.”
.
.
.
“I never took you as a coffee person.” Yoongi, on the more quiet side, as compared to the rest of the boys, gives you a small raise in his brow when he takes note of the coffee you have on your desk for the third day in a row. “I thought you preferred tea or...other things.”
You did once speak on drink preferences though you never thought Yoongi would ever take note of them seriously because they were always just small talks that led to no direction. Yet here he is, raising a brow at the coffee you have.
“Is it the barista?” He asks and you know by now the boys probably all know your encounter with the cute barista a few blocks down the street. When you feel your cheeks heating up, you hear Yoongi let out a small chuckle. “I get it, Y/N. Feelings always start off with the infatuation you have for someone, but you have to keep in mind not to force anything you dislike for someone else. What’re you going to do when you’re unhappy just to keep someone else happy? That isn’t exactly healthy, now is it?”
“You sound like my mom always giving me life lessons,” Hoseok comes in with rolled eyes over his hyung’s words. “Don’t listen to him, Y/N.”
“You know I’m right.”
“Even if you are, it’s not like they can’t talk things over once they get closer. Isn’t that right?” Hoseok turns to you, putting you on the spot and making you freeze up.
“W-well, yes. I suppose so.”
“Well.” Yoongi lets out a sigh. “If you aren’t going to drink the coffee, just order a black coffee and I’ll drink it for you the next time you return.”
And so it becomes a routine where you’re rushing in the morning, ordering the black coffee just to have a small conversation with the cute barista before it’s time for work and once you’re in, Yoongi takes the coffee for you, drinking it.
For a good time it goes on like this; the constant teasing from the boys, Namjoon scolding them, and Yoongi sitting back to enjoy the show with his free coffee every morning.
Though at times you feel Taehyung’s flirty comments are much more common than usual, Seokjin’s a little gentler, Jimin’s a little touchier, Jungkook’s a bit more pouty and cranky, Hoseok’s by your side more often, Yoongi more willing to engage in conversations rather than his usual responses of “mhm” and “yes” or “no,” and Namjoon being more observant.
Perhaps it’s the change in the seasons, perhaps it’s the new project the team’s working on, or perhaps they’re just looking out for you because you’re still a bit new to everything and they don’t want you getting hurt or taken advantage of.
They’re kind after all. Ever since the first day you joined the company since your move here, the boys have been nothing but kind and welcoming towards you, helping you out in areas you need to improve on, exchanging numbers, offering to hang out outside work hours, and just anything and everything for you in order to help you feel more comfortable.
It’s sweet having people looking out for you.
“Date?” One late night with just you and Jungkook left behind, you decide to relay the news to him as the two of you finally finish off for the night. “Well finally, seems like that bastard wasn’t ever going to pick up the guts to ask you out.” He sounds a bit irritated, as he usually would when the topic of the barista is brought up. “So then, where you going?”
“He said he’ll be taking me out to dinner.”
“Dinner, huh? So you’ll be dressing up all nice and pretty for him, huh?”
“Well-” You cut yourself off, looking off to the side with a hand hovered over your cheeks. “It’s..the normal thing to do, right? When..one goes on a date?”
“I guess,” he shrugs, sounding bored with his hands in his pockets.
“I haven’t done this in a while, I’m kind of nervous. Though to be honest, I don’t really enjoy one-on-one meal dates too much, especially with someone I don’t really know that well. I mean even though I find him cute and nice it’s just…hm, I don’t know. It’s just nerve-wracking I guess.”
“Really? Dinner dates aren’t your thing?” Jungkook looks over at you, a bit surprised.
“I just get too much social anxiety,” you chuckle nervously his way. “I mean, there’s always a chance my date might ditch me and I’ll end up sitting there being awkwardly stared at by other customers and the waiter will also be placed in an awkward position. Not to mention the food choices are way too many to choose from and you can never really guess what will be good and what will not. Plus I’m just an awkward person in general when it comes to one-on-one interaction over a formal occasion. What if he finds me boring?”
“He’d be a fool if he did,” he mutters under his breath.
“Huh?”
Jungkook clears his throat, speaking louder this time. “I said that’s stupid to be worrying over.”
“Oh.” You blink. “Is it?”
“I’m not saying it’s–” He pauses, takes a breath in and out before speaking again. “What I meant was, you shouldn’t worry about that because you’re not boring. Well, not to me.”
“Ha ha, that totally helped release all of my anxieties at once.”
“I’m just saying,” he purses his lips into a small pout, “I mean I get awkward with people all the time because I’m an idiot who doesn’t know how to keep a conversation going but I’ve never been uncomfortable with you. You’ve never made me feel bored and I’ve never had a thought of wanting to get out of a conversation with you so it’d be dumb if that bastard did. I’m the most awkward person on Earth. I’m sure you’ll do fine with him.”
You giggle at the way Jungkook seems to shy away after giving you a few compliments, his ears a little red, head turned off to the side but you catch sight of the slight blush on his cheeks under the night sky.
“Thanks, Jungkook.”
“Come on,” he rushes forward, opening the passenger side of the door for you in order to snap out of his embarrassment. “Get in, I’ll take you home.”
.
.
.
“Uh, what? You want me to spy on Y/N?” Namjoon looks the maknaes dead in the eyes before turning his back to them, returning to the coffee maker in the break room. “No. I’m on a break, stop bothering me.”
“Oh come on hyung!” Taehyung whines as he tugs on the hem of Namjoon’s blazer.
“If you’re that desperate to see how her date goes, why don’t you go yourself?” He pauses. “Actually, that’s a bad idea.”
“Yeah exactly! Taehyung and I both know we’d do a horrible job and get noticed right away, which will put Y/N in an awkward situation, and Jungkook here has anger issues so if that barista does something wrong, he’s also bound to get noticed.”
“Listen, I know I have my problems but hearing it out loud still hurts, you know.”
“The truth hurts, maknae.” Jimin pats his head, causing him to frown even deeper. “And Yoongi hyung,” he turns back to Namjoon again, “he’s also bound to punch the dude if something goes wrong. Jin and Hoseok hyung are great candidates but they’re working that day. You’re the only one available, hyung.”
“I’m also working that day.”
“You get out early.”
“How is it that you know my schedule so well, Park Jimin?” Coffee done and set in a cup, Namjoon turns back to the three of them, letting out a heavy sigh. “Can’t you just let it go? Y/N can’t keep staying under our wings forever. She’s a grown woman capable of taking care of herself.”
“Yes, yes, but what if something goes wrong?” Jungkook says, the three of them still holding their stance.
“Seems like you want it to go wrong.” Namjoon takes a sip of his drink, staring them down.
“Whaaat? Now why would I want that? Y/N’s happiness matters most of all and if that happiness is with the barista, why would I wanna intervene?”
“You’re gritting your teeth.”
He avoids eye contact, not even wanting to deny Namjoon’s accusation as he places his hands in his pockets.
In the end, the maknaes’ persuasion skills are much more in effect as they manage to rope Namjoon into their shenanigans, so when the day comes, the man finds himself being there to be the witness to how your date with the barista goes.
And unfortunately on your end, it doesn’t go too well.
“You…have a girlfriend?” You look at the phone he has in his hand when he turns around, surprised you caught him in the act when he excused himself to pick up a call, only to leave you in that restaurant for some time so you decided to step out to check up on him and now here you are, staring at a man who holds onto a dumb expression because he got caught.
“Who’s that?” You hear a voice from the other line of his phone and Woosung turns around for a second again, putting the phone back to his ear as he whispers “I’ll call you back” before turning back shamelessly around with an awkward smile.
You bite your lower lip, feeling like a fool as your shoulders keep their tense state and you take a step back. “Why didn’t you tell me?”
“Things were rocky,” he says, “we still are–”
“That doesn’t make it right to go around and sweeten up to other girls,” you cut him off, not wanting to hear the excuses. “If you wanted another relationship, you should have broken up with your girlfriend first but instead here you are, making a fool out of me, using me as a side piece. If things went back to normal with your girlfriend, you were just going to toss me off to the side, weren’t you? Or use me as a secret affair?”
“Y/N-”
“Don’t say my name, please.” You take a few more steps back, feeling lightheaded and done. “Don’t contact me again. Delete my number, please.”
You turn to walk off, only to have your wrist pulled back.
“Hear me out-”
“I don’t want to hear anything!” You try to pull your arm back to get away from him but his grip is too tight for you to actually do much. “Let me go. You have a girlfriend.”
“I’ll break up with her,” Woosung tries to concede but you can only scoff in his face.
“Are you serious? If you can go around her back and try to get with other girls, you can do that to me too.”
“Y/N-”
“Let go,” you beg, feeling your voice crack as the tears finally begin to form upon the forceful way he holds onto you, not wanting to release his grip no matter how much you try to escape. “Please, I don’t want anything to do with you anymore, I-”
Just as you feel a drop of tear about to fall from your eye, a foreign hand is placed right upon your eyes to block your vision, the sling of arm he has on you pulling you back against his chest and a voice rumbles from the depths of his throat.
“Do not ever waste your tears on spoiled milk, sweetheart, do not let him think he has power over you,” the voice says, a voice you recognize, a voice that begins to fight off the fear you had thinking you were alone and no one would help you out of this situation. Suddenly the hand isn’t so foreign anymore and you find yourself relaxing a bit into that chest of his.
“Mind letting go of that precious hand, buddy?” Namjoon says, his voice dropping an octave when he addresses your admirer. “We don’t want to make a scene here now do we? Unless you do, and in that case, I can definitely give you a show.”
When he doesn’t say a word in response, too frightened at how grave Namjoon sounds, your rescuer lets out a scoff before giving you a squeeze on the shoulder to let you know that you were to be leaving.
He turns you around, taking his hand off your eyes, but not from your shoulder, and guiding you away from the scene, knowing not to leave you alone until the two of you were finally away from the sight of Woosung.
“You alright?” Only then does Namjoon let you go and take a step back, watching to make sure you don’t look too uncomfortable.
Yet his hands being placed on you wasn’t the problem, it was the fact that you just found out the guy you thought was interested in you had a girlfriend all along, and in the shameful feeling you’re suddenly forced to face tonight, your head lowers to the ground, unable to look Namjoon in the eyes.
“Sorry you had to…see that.”
“Why are you apologizing? You have nothing to apologize for.” He hands you a tissue to which you take, wiping your tears despite it still coming down, and when it seems as if they won’t stop any time soon, Namjoon takes the initiative to take a step forward and pull you into his arms, embracing you in the way you need it.
You bury your face into his chest as he holds you, the night breeze flying past with nothing but the sound of a few cars passing by and your little sniffles, and in this very moment, all you can think is that Namjoon’s arms feel so warm, so comfortable, and so kind.
Just what you need.
Just what you needed.
“Sorry,” you croak out again, voice sounding a little more broken but Namjoon shakes his head as he holds you tighter.
“It’s alright.”
“I probably look like a fool,” you say and yet he shakes his head.
“None of this was your fault.”
“I should have known,” you pull back just slightly to wipe at your eyes, “all men, whether in Korea or elsewhere, has the audacity to be such assholes.”
“Hmm, you’re right. In one way or another, everyone’s the same.”
You look up at him, sight a little blurry. “Why’re you not defending men or saying ‘not all men’?”
“Because that’d piss you off,” you scoff, “and I know how we can be.”
“But you…” You bite onto your lower lip, staring down at his white dress shirt as tear stains and some bits of your makeup managed to fall upon them — a sight he doesn’t care to pay attention to. You now feel embarrassed for a different reason. “I probably look like a mess right now, I’m so sorry,” you cry, hating the sight of your mascara wet on your fingers.
“You’re cute,” Namjoon chuckles and you give him a little punch on the chest, wanting to hide your embarrassment and only causing him to laugh a little more.
“How’d you know to even find me? How’d you even get there in the first place? It was like you were already there.”
“Well…” When he hesitates, you look back up at him, blinking.
“Don’t tell me Jungkook set you up to this?”
“Not just him.”
The maknaes. “Of course it’s them.” You let out a sigh. “I’m kind of surprised with how protective they seem to be, they didn’t come here themselves and sent you instead.”
“They sent me because they knew if something went wrong, they wouldn’t be able to stop themselves before that barista has a couple of bruises on his face.”
You laugh a little at that sentiment. “Well aren’t they aware.”
“If I tell them you cried, I wonder what they’d do.”
“Don’t!” You quickly say, grabbing a fistful of his shirt to make sure he knows just how serious you are. “I already told them where Woosung works at so if they know what he did, who knows what they’d do.”
“Are you that worried?”
“They have absolutely no care for what other people think of them so of course I’m worried.” You quickly wipe the remaining tears left on your face. “I don’t want to be the reason someone gets hurt.”
“I suppose I can leave out a few details.”
“Thanks, Namjoon.” You look around the empty streets of the night, feeling a bit awkward now that things are starting to calm down. “And..thanks…for being there…..and here, right now.”
Namjoon lets out a light chuckle. “Mr. Bang told us to look out for our newbie, didn’t he?” He says, a light reminder of your company CEO’s words to them when you first joined. “Though even without him saying so, we’d still be taking care of you.”
You smile up his way, knowing that if he hadn’t been here tonight, a different outcome would have occurred and you aren’t sure how you would have been able to deal with things were it not for him.
.
.
.
“Sorry you won’t be getting your usual free coffee anymore.” When you take a seat beside Yoongi the next day, something tells you he probably knows the actual full story about what happened the night before unlike the three younger ones. Namjoon probably felt it safe to tell the older ones and that you wouldn’t blame him for it.
He’s right.
Before the man can reply, Jimin’s sliding his chair on over with a comment of his own. “Who cares? Hyung can get his own coffee and there’s always plenty of fishes in the sea.”
“He’s right, I’m a fish,” Taehyung says with a smirk sent your way. “I’m a great fish.”
You laugh a little at that. “It’s alright guys. He was cute but I forgot that pretty faces don't always mean pretty hearts.”
“I’m literally right in front of you but go off.” Taehyung sits himself on Jimin’s lap with a roll of his eyes, causing you to giggle.
“I knew he was a red flag,” Jungkook joins in with his arms leaning over your desk. “Everything about the dude screamed red flag.”
“You never even met him.”
“Doesn’t mean I can’t tell,” he argues. “If you ask me, even Taehyung’s a better candidate.”
“See, what’d I tell you?” The older one is quick to agree as his eyes light up. “Why don’t you give me a chance, sweetheart? I’d never break your heart.”
“That’s a lie,” you laugh.
He pouts. “Why would you say that? You don’t trust me?”
“I’m just saying it’s inevitable to break someone’s heart whether you mean to or not. That’s just what happens when you’re in a relationship right? Not everything is smooth sailing.”
“Well, you can break my heart anytime.”
“Alright, alright, stop bothering me and get back to your stations already.” When Yoongi finally speaks up among the conversation you seemed to attract without meaning to, the three boys are quick to obey their hyung’s words, sitting up and scattering to their destination after a quick wave of goodbye your way.
You yourself were just about to return to your own station when Yoongi stops you mid-way.
“By the way,” he starts, allowing you to look back at him, “Stop apologizing, you’ll wear yourself out.”
It’s blunt the way he says it but you know that Yoongi always means well so it makes your insides warm hearing him giving you kind words in return to what you initially came to him for.
.
.
.
“So, what do you think about this?”
Hoseok takes a glance at your computer screen before looking back at you, whose eyes seem to look slightly dreary despite the excitement settled in them.
“I think you need to take a break,” he says and you’re quick to frown.
“Come on, Hoseok, just look it over for a second, yeah? I promise I’ll stop bothering after.”
“You said that last time.”
“I really promise this time!”
“No, you’re lying,” he says with a poke at your forehead, forcing your head to get pushed back away from him. “You’ve been working too hard these days you might actually collapse soon and what kind of sunbae would I be if I didn’t look out for my hoobae’s health?”
“But I’m fine-”
He knows all too well the sudden shift in focus you’ve had on work ever since the failed date with the barista down the street, a sort of focus that forces you to work much too hard and way too much than needed.
“Come on, it’s almost midnight.”
“And?”
You’ve even forgotten what tomorrow implies.
He takes ahold of your chair, rolling it away from your computer so he can make sure everything’s saved before shutting it off, causing you to groan in response, yet when he goes on to get your jacket, you’re reluctantly obedient.
“Have you forgotten what today is?” He asks and you look at your phone.
“The twenty-second of January. Why?”
“What’s tomorrow?”
“The twenty-third.”
He rolls his eyes. “Of course you’ve forgotten.”
“Forgotten what?” Wide eyes, innocent and curious, totally oblivious as you allow him to help you put your arms through the sleeves of your jacket.
Hoseok looks out the window and you follow his eyes, wondering why the night sky has caught his attention, but when there’s nothing there and he says nothing in reply to your question, you go on to gather your things just as he checks his watch.
“Are you free right now?” He asks, not looking up from his watch.
“I have a few minutes to spare.”
“Just a few?”
You chuckle. “I’m free, Hoseok.”
“Great.” He takes a step from where you are gathering your things, sliding up from behind and leans right into your ear. “Happy birthday, Y/N.”
It’s so soft and quiet against your ear but you know you haven’t misheard a thing just as the phone on the desk lights up and you see that it’s 12:00 am, the twenty-third of January; your 26th birthday.
“Come on then,” he takes your bag before you can protest, walking off to have you chasing him right behind, “we’ve got plans.”
“Plans?” You blink, hurrying to keep up. “Wait, what do you mean ‘we’?”
Yet you receive no answer as he takes you in his car and drives off with a grin on his face, leaving you wondering with anticipation for what’s to happen.
It doesn’t take long before the two of you arrive at some sort of park you don’t think you’ve ever visited before.
“Why are we here?” You ask and yet all you receive is Hoseok’s hand asking you to just trust him and follow along. You take his hand and he leads you toward the inner part of the park until you’re standing right before a fountain. “How pretty,” you say, wondering why you never took the chance to ever come to such a place before. “Hoseok, you–”
When you turn around to address the man who brought you here in the first place, there’s no one in sight.
“Hoseok?” You call for him, confused as you begin to look around.
Just then, lights begin to appear.
Pretty little fairy lights decorated along the lampposts and hedges of the part. Bright white and golden all around, leaving you to only stare in awe at the sudden burst of lights gleaming all around while you stand in the center of it all, heart picking up its pace at just how pretty everything looks.
All for you.
No one’s ever done something as grand as this for you, not even your closest friend,s and yet here you are, cherished by people whom you’ve known for only a year or so.
“Do you like it?”
You turn at the familiar voice to see Hoseok with a grin, and just behind him stands the rest of the guys who share the same sentiment.
“Like it?” Words can’t even begin to describe. “I..”
“Whoa, whoa, whoa! Are you crying?!” Seokjin’s the first to rush up to you when he sees your hands raising up to your face, taking them in his and blowing his warm breath onto them to warm it up as Yoongi presses both his gloved hands upon your cheeks. “Don’t cry now, this was supposed to make you happy.”
“I am happy,” you say as a few tears slip. “I’m really happy.”
“Are you sure because crying usually means—”
“I promise,” you cut Yoongi off when you see the serious frown he has on his face, a sign of worry as he frets over your tears. “I promise I’m happy.”
“You have such an odd way of proving you’re happy,” he grumbles under his breath, causing you to let out a laugh.
“We have cake but I don’t think you’d be able to blow out the candles in this windy environment.”
January is still Winter after all.
“That’s alright,” you say to Jimin, “we can just pretend the fire’s on.”
And so he goes on to get the cake with Taehyung in toll, and in the middle of the pretty park they’ve taken the time to show you, a soft birthday song rings in the air, and when that’s over, you intertwine your fingers together for a wish before blowing out the imaginary fire on the candles.
January is a bit cold, a little worse when the moon has risen high in the sky, but tonight you feel anything but the coldness, not when these seven boys have taken the time to dedicate themselves to making sure you’re having a good time.
.
.
.
“You know if you keep staring at me, you might burn a hole in my face.”
“Hm? What are you talking about?” Hoseok starts, his chin still propped upon his hand, eyes shamelessly staring without a hint of movement anytime soon. You let out a little chuckle, flustered, and hit him lightly on the chest. “What? Do I make you flustered?”
“You’re almost as bad as Taehyung sometimes.”
“What’s wrong with a little flirting?”
“I’m going to take it the wrong way one day,” you tell him as you get up from your seat to head on over to the printer where a few papers await their turn. “I know you’re all joking though but sometimes, well, admittedly,” you hide your face behind your hair, staring straight at the printing machine to finish its job, “my heart does skip a beat...or two.”
“Really?” He says it so nonchalantly you think your reaction is the least bit of his concern. “Hm, then it’s working,” until he says those words.
“Huh?” You look up, flustered, with blinking eyes. “What do you mean it’s…working?”
Hoseok sends you a smirk just as Taehyung slides up along his side, arm draping over the older man’s shoulder with a mirrored smirk.
“Oh I think you know what that means, darling,” the younger one states, his brows wiggling playfully.
You take the collection of papers that have been printed out for you and huddle them close to your chest, not fully comprehending them only because you wouldn’t want to create a misunderstanding and interpret things wrong when it’s actually meant to have a different meaning.
“I..I-I..”
Before you can finish your stuttering, however, a roll of paper comes along to smack both Hoseok and Taehyung on the head.
“Stop flirting during work hours, you know better than that,” Namjoon warns with a firm expression.
“But you know our girl will never get it if we don’t get to the point,” Hoseok argues.
“The point?” You blink.
“Then get to the point.” Yoongi rolls his eyes, looking exasperated by the antics of the group as he joins the crowd with Jungkook, just as Jimin and Seokjin walk through the doors.
It’s clear the seven of them all know exactly what’s going on while you remain standing there in confusion, left to try to interpret things under your own limited understanding unless they decide they want to come out and just say whatever it is they’re holding out on.
“See, look at her. She’s confused.” Yoongi points out, his head beckoning your way to make them look at you.
You freeze under their stares, not…uncomfortable but more so…shy.
“She’s not confused, she knows exactly what’s happening,” Seokjin speaks up, a slight grin resting on his lips as he walks a few steps forward to take your papers for you. They were meant for him in the first place. “She’s just afraid it might turn out to be false,” he says, purposely staring you down with that glint of playfulness in his eyes.
“Now we don’t want any miscommunications around here, do we?” Jimin sneaks up behind you, hands pressed upon your shoulders. “So why don’t you tell our little one exactly what you mean, hyung?” He’s baiting Hoseok, that slyness in his tone not being able to escape your ears especially when he’s so close to you.
As for the older one, he simply remains calm, instead glancing at the maknae. “Didn’t you want to do the honors? You’ve been waiting for the perfect moment, right?”
Jungkook’s cheeks turn red, his face turning to the side in an instant once the attention is brought down to him instead, and while Jimin snickers, Taehyung holds his laugh, Seokjin hides a grin behind his hand, and Namjoon’s expression turns fond, you find the gentleman who became the first friend you made ever since moving to Korea and working alongside him as a new employee to be quite cute.
He’s always been cute from the very beginning.
You’re the closest in age after all, so with him feeling more comfortable to approach you and make you feel comfortable, you found his company to be a delight you enjoyed looking forward to each day you came to work.
And now here he is, almost a year later, flustered like a teenage boy trying to hand his crush a love letter.
And the boys are eating it up.
“Jungkook?” So you call out to him, knowing he may need a little bit of encouragement to tell you the thing he needs to say, all the while preparing your heart just in case the answer you’re seeking turns out to be wrong and you were just misinterpreting things. “It’s alright, take your time.”
“That’s right, maknae, we’ve got all the time in the world.”
You lightly hit Taehyung on the chest. “You’re not helping the boy.”
He laughs in response. “You already know what he’s trying to say so why not save him the embarrassment?”
“Do I?”
“Oh, would you look at that?” Namjoon raises a brow, impressed. “Someone’s feeling cocky.”
“Huh, no I didn’t mean that!” You’re quick to say, hands rushing to wave it off as you become flustered again. “J-Jungkook I didn’t-” You turn to him, stumbling out your words. “Well, I mean, I think I..I-I don’t exactly..-But if it’s what I think it is..-But if it isn’t, uh-”
“Oh god, they’re hopeless,” Jimin laughs aloud before simply squeezing your shoulders as he leans in. “Why don’t we stop the act and just become ours, hm? I think you know we all feel the same way at this point.”
“Hyung what the hell?!” Jungkook suddenly shouts with his mouth held agape, offended his moment was stolen from him.
“You were taking too long!”
“That doesn’t mean you can take the spotlight!”
In the midst of their little dispute, all you can hear is Jimin’s short yet meaningful confession in your ears, one that seems to make your heart race more than any man has ever made it beat before and you stand there right in the center, eyes unblinking, feeling as if the world is slowing down as you hear each beat your heart drums aloud for you.
“So what do you say?!” Taehyung jumps in, leaving Hoseok’s side to drape his arm around you instead.
“You’re both so annoying!” Jungkook yells, his brows furrowed deeply as his lips jut into a pout.
With cheeks heated and heart set aflame, you take the pouty man’s hand and look him straight in the eyes, taking a moment to calm him down so that the whole room can fall silent, before you turn to look at them all, hands trembling a bit when you say;
“Mmn, I’ll…I can…..yeah.”
Their faces brighten in an instant, and in that moment you realize despite how brave and nonchalant they all may seem to appear on the outside, perhaps deep within their hearts, they were just as nervous and frightened of what your answer may be.
And for that you say the words that Jungkook had been meaning to say but was robbed of the opportunity.
“I like you. I like you so…so much.”
.
.
.
Two years later
“Mr. Bang approved the proposal and he told me he’d be able to connect me with some people and-” you let out a scream of delight as you jump around before Seokjin, taking his hands along with you for him to see just how excited you are right now. “I’m ranking up Jin! I’m ranking up! And soon the company’s going to skyrocket and my efforts will be rewarded! It is rewarded! It’s being rewarded!”
Despite the onlookers of passersby taking quick glances at the two of you as you jump for joy, Seokjin simply smiles fondly at the pretty girl before him, looking her happiest and knowing he’d never want to rain on her parade and cast that look aside.
“Look at that, my little rockstar all grown up,” he says with a smile so gentle and fond of you you think you might fall in love with him all over again.
“Are you proud?” You ask and he chuckles as if the answer was that obvious and did not warrant a question.
“So proud,” he reaffirms your thoughts with hands cupping your cheeks and bringing his nose to playfully graze it with yours before he proudly lands a short yet sweet kiss on your lips.
“Jin, don’t do that in public,” you back away just a little, now noticing the people who’re just trying to walk the street.
Yet Seokjin laughs at you. “I thought you enjoyed public displays of affection.”
“I never said that,” you say as you take his hand and begin to walk off towards the apartment building the eight of you reside in, “that’s Taehyung and Hoseok. And Yoongi doesn’t care about anything so whether it’s embarrassing or not, he’ll do it if he’s in the mood — which can get a little frustrating.”
“Does it?”
“It does. Though now that I think about it, I think all of you except Namjoon and I care about modesty when it comes to displaying affections publicly.”
Seokjin raises a brow. “Jungkook too?”
“He enjoys seeing my reactions!” You say with a huff. “But then when I get him flustered, he goes on a whole rant as if he doesn’t do it frequently to me. Couldn’t you talk to him for me? He’d listen to you.”
“You think he’d listen to me?”
“You’re right, never mind, he never listens to you.”
“I listen well,” just as the elevator doors pop open, someone approaches the two of you from behind, their head propping in between your two bodies, “there’s just a time and place for everything.”
Seokjin rolls his eyes at Jungkook’s response as the three of you walk into the elevator. “It’d be good if you can listen to your elders, Jungkook.”
“Come on now, don’t start giving me life lessons again. It’s just that sometimes tuning some people out is the best thing to do.”
“Excuse me?” You hide your laugh behind a hand at Seokjin’s offended expression but he catches you quickly. “And what’re you doing teaming up with him? You were against him just a few seconds ago,” he says, snaking his arm around your waist to pull you in as you let out a yelp at his tickles.
“You can’t win against our maknae bond, hyung,” Jungkook snickers as he takes your other side, wrapping his arm around you as well.
“Stop, you’re going to suffocate me.”
Just then, the ding to the elevator is heard and you take their moment of distraction to escape their clutches, quick to rush out the doors and run for your apartment door.
When the door opens after unlocking the code, you run right in towards the first person you see, shoes and all.
“Yoongi catch!”
He looks like he’s just gotten up from a nap and yet when he sees you running towards him at full speed, he doesn’t think twice before his arms are instinctively holding you up when you jump onto him successfully.
“What’re you doing back early?” He yawns when another voice chimes in.
“Yeah, you’re not supposed to be back until an hour later,” Namjoon says.
You narrow your eyes. “Not happy at my early arrival?”
“I was trying to surprise you with a cake,” Taehyung yells from the kitchen, to which you turn to see both him and Jimin busy with frostings and cake batter.
“Tae? Baking?” You get down from Yoongi’s stronghold to walk towards them as Hoseok comes around to take your coat.
Taehyung pouts. “Are you doubting my skills? Why don’t you doubt Jimin?”
“Because we all know I’m a great baker.”
“Y/N, shoes.” Seokjin warns from where he stands, pointed eyes your way, stopping you just before you step into the kitchen.
Hoseok helps you out of them so you thank him with a kiss on his cheek.
“Thanks.”
“Yeah, yeah,” he nods as he walks over to the shoe rack.
“What’s the cake for?” You step into kitchen territory once approved, peeking over Jimin’s side as he focuses on decorating the cake and seeing the words ‘congratulations’ on it. “Wha..but I didn’t even tell you what the results were.”
“Do we even have to hear it?” Jimin chuckles, stopping midway to give you a kiss on the head.
“You were that confident I’d do well?” Your lower lip juts out, feeling touched by their actions.
“Oh baby, we knew,” Taehyung says, kissing you on the cheek.
“Why is it that you guys spoil me so much? You’re going to overwhelm me.”
“Because you’re our girl, why else?”
Such a calm answer, so straightforward and simple as if that was obvious from the very beginning. They’ve always been like this; considerate and sweet, and when Taehyung pokes your nose and leaves frosting there and you chase him after to exact revenge, when Namjoon scolds the two of you in a calm voice and Jimin shouts at the both of you to not make a mess, Jungkook laughing in the corner, wanting to join in but Seokjin pulling him back, all the while Hoseok and Yoongi simply stands back observing it all, the happiness that bloomed from the very moment you met the seven of them and how they’ve managed to continue allowing you to live in these sweet moments, you know that you will never care for anything else as long as they remain by your side until the very end.
Nothing else in this world matters more than their love and support.

Telltales of a Cheshire Cat
Tumblr media
ᵐ ˡᶦˢᵗ | ᵖʳᵉᵛⁱᵒᵘˢ | ⁿᵉˣᵗ
"Tell me everything you know."
Jungkook said bluntly as he sat on the bench of the hanok. He curved his back and lowered his head to look at the feline on the floor. The Cheshire cat glanced back at the human with a sigh. Yoongi refused to answer at first but if this is what the grim reaper wants, then he has to disobey the deities to avoid any conflicts with the other guardians' intentions. Truth is, he doesn't want to tell him anything about the human's fate until the month of dispersion. By the time May arrives, Yuna will remember everything. She will receive the last postcard of the fate deity to visit the Magic Shop.
"She's the flower thief," he looked at the man sitting across from him. "The fate deity charmed her years ago. She created a portal pond towards Wonderland. Yuna followed her will-o-wisp to steal the heart of the moon tree where the flower's soul transmigrated to hers. The deities told me to erase her memories once she comes back and encounters a guardian."
Yoongi looked down.
"I couldn't tell you that yet because I was tasked to keep it to myself. I can't disobey the deities because I'm cursed to be their familiar. But given that many conflicts have arisen, I have no choice now."
Jungkook pinched the bridge of his nose frustratingly, "You had to tell me that when a lot of things have happened to her."
"I understand why you're angry and believe me, I do want to tell you everything if it wasn't with their punishment. Even if I apologize right now, it wouldn't change what happened and I truly know that. I just hope nothing will change between us. Whatever the case may be, you will still listen to me just like what you're doing now—even if you see me as your rival or your enemy."
Jungkook leaned back and looked up at the ceiling with a blank expression. He had to process everything first before he ask another question.
Silence reigned for a moment. Only the gush of the wind outside was heard. Yoongi waited for the grim reaper to break the still air and speak again.
"Namjoon's right. She was charmed by a transmigration spell. That's why her soul radiance is different."
Yoongi nodded, "However since she has the oblivion curse, she's under a coma-trance too."
"What?"
"According to the deities, the coma-trance is a long slumber that allows the soul to recuperate from a terrible curse. If the Smeraldo flower wasn't merged with her, she'll die. The flower prolongs her healing period by refreshing her soul's memories. She'll remember not only her present memories but also her past. This includes her previous lives."
Jungkook straightened his posture and widened his eyes, "Does that mean—"
"Yes."
"I wasn't even finished yet." Jungkook scoffed.
"I know where your question is heading." he jumped on the seat beside him nonchalantly. "Whoever the character we encountered before is connected to the present Yuna we have as of now. I suppose she was reincarnated many times to cross paths with us. It's because she's indebted to us."
Jungkook tilted his head, "Is that why I couldn't see her past? How come I don't recognize her?"
"As I said, she was reincarnated many times. You couldn't see her past because they're broken or scattered. I only had the hunch she was reincarnated because she had the same face but a different character. I'm the illusion guardian, remember? I can distinguish illusions easily."
The cat licked his paws before gazing back at the grim reaper in his sparkling green eyes to continue his prophecy. Once Jungkook locked eyes with him, Yoongi continued his storytelling.
"We have to reconcile by becoming her guardian before the sins abduct us. If we fail to succeed in our task, she will disperse with us as well."
Yoongi looked by the window to watch the skies. His nose twitched at the sight of the weather outside. As the clouds stirred in feathered outlining, the feline watched the winter sky paint the snow-covered ground once again.
"If the flower wilts in her heart before we become her guardian, she will die alone. However, if we become her guardian and we fail to save the flower from wilting, she will perish with us in the underworld once the sins had completely outnumbered us."
"How do we prevent the flower from dying in her heart?"
Yoongi lightly smiled, "As cheesy as it sounds, we have to take care of her now that her mother will die on the first day of May. Her business will stop. She will join us in the Magic Shop. Winter will consume the whole city. And Yeomra will be waiting for the right time to take us."
Jungkook couldn't possibly process everything at once. He still has a lot of queries to ask especially if the human is now the heart of the moon tree. If she has the mana of the flower, does that mean she holds the heavenly magic?
"No," Yoongi looked at Jungkook. "I won't let Yeomra take us if we have her."
The Cheshire cat smiled as soon as the grim reaper connected the dots.
"Yuna has the heavenly magic right?" Yoongi nodded. "She can defeat Yeomra if she knows how to use her magic."
"Actually," Yoongi interrupted. "She has the emblem on her wrist. If I'm not mistaken, she receives mana from the moon at night."
Jungkook furrowed his brows, "Let me guess, the deities told you that?"
The cat hummed. "Remember when the shadow monsters attacked the whole city? Yuna wasn't cursed that time. The night we purified the evil spirit from the hexed humans, Yuna wasn't one of them. That could also mean one thing. If she survived Yeomra's shadow monsters, she might have used her heavenly magic without her knowing."
Jungkook formed his mouth into an ‘o’ shape. If Yuna wasn't cursed, why couldn't he purify the human he met on the road? He had a glimpse of how the female was brought there but she had no wounds to heal. Most humans had wounds during the nightmare phase but she had none.
"There's still one who survived." Yoongi looked at him.
"I had to tell Jimin and Taehyung if they ever encounter her. And Namjoon too once we all go back to the Magic Shop."
"I guess I have to tell them everything as well." Jungkook nodded.
"We can defeat Yeomra in two ways depending on the situation and the plan," the cat added. "She can practice her celestial magic or we break the transmigration spell by taking the flower's soul from her to transfer it back to the Tree Memoir."
"No way. If we do the second option, why did we even use her in the first place if we can just break the spell and take the flower back?"
Yoongi's nose twitched again, "I thought maybe if she has full control of her magic we can use her while defeating Yeomra. And the latter seems like a backup plan if she can't perform the training properly. Unfortunately, breaking the celestial spell may require excessive magic reversion. It might corrupt her soul or destroy her as well. It might create another consequence if we accidentally kill a human."
"If that's the case, then we should disregard the second option and weigh the former." Yoongi hummed, "That's true. But I'm still hoping we can have a stronger plan to defeat Yeomra especially if he finds out Yuna was the flower thief and the Smeraldo flower of the Tree Memoir."
"Now why should we be scared if he finds out she has celestial magic? He can't even take her mana either. Yuna can just kill him then and there if she mastered her training."
Yoongi shook his head. "I don't think we should be complacent. Yeomra is Namjoon's former ace student. I'm certain he knows most of the spells and curses. If he finds out Yuna is under the deity's transmigration spell, he will use the second option to get rid of her and taint the flower with his sins to take us to the underworld. We're connected to the moon tree and he will most likely use this chance to corrupt us."
Bingo.
"Damn," Jungkook clenched his hair and looked away, speechless. Who would've thought that a small creature like him had already planned everything? The illusion guardian might be pliable to the higher-ups but he sure is meticulous with the hints.
"Is that why you mentioned that option?" Yoongi chuckled, "Maybe at least that could give you a hint to foreshadow Yeomra's plans."
"Man," he laughed. "And here I thought the oracle is the smartest one."
They both laughed.
"I guess we're on good terms now?" the cat joked.
"Nah, hyung. Don't kid yourself." he side-eyed and then laughed with him again.
"We should probably go back to the Magic Shop." Jungkook smiled.
"Yes, we should."
Yoongi crawled by the window and jumped up to touch the dangling wind chime. The deities who were once told to leave the house appeared in the room and yawned as if they were woken up by the feline. Yoongi told them their whereabouts before leaving the hanok village with the grim reaper behind him.
Tumblr media
Flashback...
Another cough was heard in the room as soon as the old woman leaned back on his chair to text her unresponsive daughter. The florists already left an hour ago after they decided to close the shop early. Yoomi couldn't feel at ease when her daughter missed her calls.
She might be strolling at the park at this hour but if it wasn't for her being unresponsive to her mother's messages, Yoomi wouldn't feel this way. She asked her colleagues, Jiwoo and Youngjae, in case she was with them. Jiwoo responded but Youngjae didn't. The night gets darker with every tick and tock of the clock yet Yuna's arrival is prolonged. Jiwoo was the only person she can contact at this hour since both of them were a little worried.
"Yuna is an adult. She can take care on her own." she reminded herself.
Then she remembered the deity's prophecy. She must be delusional right now because her lifespan is short. Or she might have slept while knitting and had a nightmare. This could be a dream and not a reality.
Why would she worry?
She closed her eyes and whispered to herself to wake up. A cold breeze passed by and a gush of wind blew a few strands off her face. She heard the chimes by the doorway and thought of opening her eyes to see if her dream is finally coming to an end. However, by the time she opened her eyes, Yoomi saw a man standing before her, eyes growing dark and a smile growing sinister.
He gazed up to lift her from her chair and suffocate her. Yoomi held her neck and gasped for air. She pleaded with the monster in her muffled breaths when suddenly, the door opened and the sound of the chimes resounded in the room. Yeomra locked eyes with the human but immediately withdrew. He gazed back at the florist's mother and grumbled incoherent words.
"Leave her alone!" Yeomra did not spare her another glance so he roughly tilted his head to free the human and possibly wound her. Jiwoo hurried to catch her when Yoomi fell and tumbled on her. Yeomra opened his palm and summoned his magic. He threw a dark miasma toward the two females on the ground to injure them. Jiwoo's glowing wrist created a force field to protect herself and her friend's mother. She looked down at her flower tattoo and gaped at the sight of a protective bubble surrounding her.
Yeomra widened his eyes and grumbled. Instead of wasting his time, a cloud of black smoke appeared and he dispersed along with it.
The shield vanished as well, leaving Jiwoo confused. Reality kicked in when she heard Yoomi's ragged breaths. She rummaged through her pockets for her phone and then quickly called the emergency hotline.
A few minutes passed and the ambulance came. The nurses helped her bring Yoomi to the hospital where she waited for Yuna.
From afar away, the mad hatter and the flower goblin watched the scene playing before them. They exchanged glances quizzically and pursed their lips while scanning the commotion outside.
"Did you see that?" Jimin asked.
"I see the ambulance." the flower guardian shook his head, "No. Not that. The shadow."
Taehyung looked at him.
"Oh, right. I was here before you but a shadow entered that flower shop."
"I don't know but I do feel like there's a negative energy," Taehyung added. His eyes widened upon seeing the other guardian's face light up in realization as well.
"That could be..."
"Yeomra." they both said in unison.
"We gotta tell Namjoon, hurry!" Jimin exclaimed. He scuffed towards the telephone by the counter and dialed the numbers of the oracle without a single ponder.
"What are you wearing?" Jimin asked the mad hatter after looking up from fixing the brooch on the collar of his coat. He wore black slacks topped with a brown turtleneck sweater and a black trench coat. The two dressed up like humans to blend in the crowd before the interrogation. However, it seems like someone is about to go on a date rather than the latter.
"You're wearing a suit to the hospital?" the goblin scrunched his face in an insulting expression.
"Humans wear these you know. They are called 'fashion' for a reason."
Jimin facepalmed. "No, Taeh. You do fashion based on the look and feel of the venue you're going to. We're going to the hospital to interrogate the witness not serve them food."
Taehyung gasped dramatically like he was personally attacked by the goblin's insult. He opened his mouth widely and placed his hand on his chest as if he was badly hurt by his words.
"No, you did not."
"Yes, I called you a waiter."
"You don't understand."
"I understand that you're overdressed. We have to keep a low profile to not intimidate the humans."
Taehyung laughed. "Nah, you clearly don't understand. I have to impress them so we can easily find the patient and the witness while you talk to them."
"And why is that? Is it even necessary that we impress them? You know I can't do the majority of the talking. I might not be able to stay in my human form once this brooch pin drains."
The mad hatter licked his dried lips and nodded. "Oh right, you're a goblin."
Jimin rolled his eyes. "Last time we overdressed for your fashion craze, a shaman approached us and found out we were guardians so we can 'bless' her shrine."
Taehyung clicked his tongue boredly. "Yeah."
"She thought she could drive more customers by using us."
Taehyung walked towards his table in the tea room while Jimin tailed him. He searched for his jar of leaves to tuck a few in his pocket just in case his human form falters as well.
The guardians have magical objects called vizards that conceal their magical form when meddling and interacting with humans. In that case, since the mad hatter is a fox spirit, he writes whatever form he wants to transform to using the talisman leaves. The goblin uses a colorful flower brooch to tamper with his curse. Without the pin, once he leaves the magic shop, his features turn grotesquely. The pin shows his true physical form when he wears it but once the color drains, his curse will subdue.
"Aren't you going to change your attire?" Jimin interrupted.
Taehyung finally gave up on the goblin's nagging. With a huff, he snapped his fingers and his attire changed into something casual, cozy, and appropriate for the weather.
"There. Happy now?" Jimin nodded with a wide smile, leaving the Magic Shop with the mad hatter behind him.

The upcoming chapters might be a little heavy so brace yourselves for the rollercoaster. I'll explain the rest next time so see you there!
Coma-Trance

"A shadow?"
Jimin and Taehyung nodded.
"Then why didn't you stop it?" Seokjin interrupted.
After the oracle received a call from the goblin, the wingless angel and the former moon rabbit persuaded the sandman of the red kingdom to gather at the Magic Shop's lobby in the mortal realm. The six of them occupied the spacious interior to discuss the matters they need to resolve.
"We were unsure at first because we might have mistaken it as someone else." Jimin continued, "I was busy welcoming the guests to know it fully. Taeh already left the tea house to guard the shop instead when suddenly—"
"—An ambulance came to take her mother to the hospital," Taehyung interrupted abruptly.
"So you just watched her?" Hoseok sat on the sofa of the Magic Shop's lounge between Namjoon and Jungkook. He crossed his arms over the other and rolled his eyes frustratingly. He should have been in his kingdom doing his chores when the White King and the Reaper called him for an unexpected mission. It seems like the dream guardian is starting to feel impatient with all the heavy workloads.
"Yes. We did," Taehyung blurted. "But, I don't think it's necessary to interfere with her fate just yet." he shrugged.
Jimin agreed as he sat on the sofa near the center table. "Plus, if the shadow wasn't Yeomra's, then why was there a mishap?"
"That's true." Taehyung sat between Jimin and Seokjin before leaning on his back while fiddling with the emerald ring on his pointer finger. "If it didn't radiate intense negative energy, I wouldn't say it was his shadow. But it did."
"Bottom line is, you assumed it was his," Namjoon mused, "Which I think is hypothetically correct, considering that it might have brought an ill-fated omen. Were there any hints that you could've missed before we track her down?"
Jimin hummed, "A woman accompanied her to the hospital. Probably a witness."
"Or someone Yuna knows," everyone looked at the guardian who was silent the whole time. Jungkook exchanged glances with the five of them quizzically. He cleared his throat and then uttered another word that is enough to support the goblin's speculation.
"One of her friends could be the witness," Jungkook added, "If we want more answers, we should interrogate them."
Namjoon snapped his fingers, "Alright. We can assign an appropriate task for each of us. Someone who can interrogate the witness and track down Yeomra."
"Wait, you forgot something." Namjoon glanced at Jimin.
"Should we also look for Yuna?"
Hoseok laughed. "Didn't you hear? That seraph brought her to God knows where."
"Yoongi has her too..." Jungkook's doe eyes sharpened at the thought of the Cheshire cat. He scoffed once he broke the gaze he shared with the other guardians.
"But, shouldn't you also be capable of knowing her wellbeing? She's your maiden, remember?"
"Nah, I bet that pussycat knows a lot about her. I wouldn't be surprised if he knows something we don't know, especially if he meddles with the deities daily." Hoseok bitterly spat with a scornful expression.
Seokjin rolled his eyes at the Red King's insensitive tone. With a deep exhale, he glanced at the uninterested grim reaper with a light smile. "When it's something that concerns the human, it's either you or the Cheshire cat. Now that she's your maiden, you have no other choice but to take over the task that she's involved with."
"Can we all finalize the agreement already? I have more things to do."
"At least be nice for once?" Jimin questioned the Red King who happened to flick his middle finger at the flower guardian.
Jimin tightened his fists and was ready to haul an aggressive action when Taehyung held his arm to stop him from starting a fight with the embodiment of wrath. The flower goblin softened his grip and composure to ignore the Red King instead.
"Confronting the deities is the least he can do," Taehyung said as he was referring to the grim reaper. "If it's about rebellion, then it's Jungkook."
"Maybe if you could be more open-minded, try to re-think the situation, and be less impulsive with your actions," Jimin added.
"Easy for you to say."
"Well," Namjoon chimed in, "This isn't the right time to be petty. Unless you all want to perish in Underland."
Hoseok scoffed, "Which side are you on?"
"Neither. I didn't call you here to provoke us so stop with this bullshit."
The Red King pushed his tongue in his inner cheek with his mouth slightly open when Namjoon glared at him. Instead of bullying one of the guardians again, he fondled his rings in boredom.
"The least we can do is confront the higher-ups to defeat the vengeful spirit. It will be difficult if we don't."
The rest agreed except Hoseok and Jungkook. Namjoon looked at the youngest to see if he agrees but still had no response. The oracle called his name again and that's when Jungkook finally responded. He simply hummed with no follow-up remark and dared not to utter a word to finally end the meeting.
Nonetheless, each of them was given an assignment. As expected, Yoongi will be in the Hanok village with the deities where the human is currently recovering. Jungkook will be visiting them while Taehyung and Jimin will be at the hospital to interrogate the witness. On the other hand, Seokjin, Namjoon, and Hoseok agreed to find Yeomra—well, partially on Hoseok's side because he insisted on protecting Wonderland.
Although he's the most powerful yet the weakest, Namjoon refrained from arguing with him again. Perhaps, it would be best if a guardian stays in their realm to look over the kingdom and the spirits.
After all, guarding their realm will prevent another mishap from happening.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile in the Hanok Village...
The camellia flowers twinkled and bloomed in the morning. A jacket of snow embraced its body; its petals smiled brightly at the rising sun. March has arrived yet the chilly, dry winter season stayed in the first week of the month. Maybe by April, the spring flowers will blossom in the morning. A variety of blooms will replace the colors of the meadows; creatures will traverse the captivating platform. The whole season will be decorated with floristry and flamboyance.
That is if the curse never prevailed.
With the situation at hand, springtime will be delayed to make time for the withering season in the month of dispersion.
Snow flowers painted the pathway of the village. The striking hues grew prominent in the snow-covered village. Not all flowers charmed the visitors with their beauty because for a moment, the field of blooms had one particular sprout that looked dull and almost lifeless.
"Is she alright?"
The feline crawled just beside the unconscious female on the bed. The Cheshire cat frowned at the sight of the helpless human. He softly touched her face with his paws to caress her gently. Yoongi glanced back at the seraph with eyes glowing green. He asked him a question again but the angel could not answer him.
The fate deity hovered her hand over the human's face to spectate her wellbeing. She moved her hands around her features slowly, her fingertips glowing in pink. With a deep breath and a frown, Mari clicked her tongue and then shook her head. She glanced back at the cat and spoke.
"She has the oblivion curse."
Yoongi gazed back at the human with the softest expression he could muster, "Yeomra probably hexed her."
The wealth deity groaned as she bitterly locked eyes with her sister. Who knew that a simple modification of the fate string could lead to an awful turn? "Look what you did. You made her life miserable. If her soul avenges, she won't enter the Afterlife."
The deities of nature started tattling and muttering words enough for the fate deity to hear. Mari, on the other hand, decided to ignore them by watching the human sleep peacefully despite the noises.
"I hope the gods ban her from using her magic."
"Why not ban her from entering the gates of heaven instead? After all, she deserves it."
"Hey, isn't that a little harsh? You might get banned too for speaking ill to her."
The flower deity suddenly stepped forward to look at the injured human. She did the same thing with her magic to check her state. However, when the growing noises from the bickering deities grew loud, she flicked her wrist and ceased her magic for a moment.
"Enough!"
She glared at the three squabbling goddesses of wealth, river, and mountain respectively.
"We came here to help the human not noise around for a petty quarrel. If you all want a place to pick up a fight, then leave this place immediately."
Once the noises completely died down and silence finally reigned in the room, the flower deity received an apology before she continued what she was doing.
She closed her eyes and focused on her breathing. Once her hands gleamed white, she opened her eyes and began rising from the ground. As her magic comes to a halt, the deity could not overlook the human's situation when she already had a glimpse of Yuna's fate. Her feet touched the ground softly and she was brought to the present once again.
"She won't be waking up soon." the flower deity looked at Yoongi with a small frown contorting her face.
"Yuna's under coma-trance, a state of prolonged slumber. The memories she will encounter becomes a hindrance to entering her present conscience. We cannot fully determine the length of her slumber because once she embarks on the pieces of her past, her soul will transfigure into a different character. She needs more time to recuperate her physical and mental well-being by venturing into the memory lane."
"How did this happen?"
"It's..." the fate deity looked at the cat with a worn expression on her face.
"It's because of the Smeraldo flower and the Tree Memoir. The flower recuperates her from the oblivion curse while the tree reminds her of the memories she once held. These memories are connected to her previous lives when she encountered the guardians before or after the divine punishment. The memory lane gives enough time for the recuperation."
Yoongi looked down at the female's face. He rested his paw on her face again and sighed. If she's experiencing slumber, then that could be one thing. He's the dream guardian, maybe he can do something with ensuring her safety if he couldn't stop the trance.
"Then I'll enter the dream realm."
The deities looked at him concerningly. The fate and the flower goddesses heaved a deep breath before interrogating him.
"You cannot simply intervene with her subconscious or else she won't make it on time!" the wealth deity interrupted.
"I'm willing to accompany her."
"But you're not her maiden. A simple lip contract is not enough." another deity spoke.
"Who says I'll do a contract?" Yoongi's eyes gleamed green again as he was ready to jump off the bed to leave. "If I can't interfere with the events, then she won't be my maiden. She can't call my name for help even when she's in danger."
"Then what will you do?" the mountain goddess asked.
"I'll be there if she wants someone to talk to."
"Someone, to talk to? Are you crazy?" the river deity laughed. "You can't interact with her or else things will only make it hard for her."
"Actually..." the fate deity spoke, "He can interact with her before she enters a new world. The coma-trance allows you to stay in the memory hub to rest for a moment. Yoongi may stay there with her but he cannot give any clues related to the memory she will encounter, especially if he suddenly remembered something."
"Look who's talking. Thanks to you, a lot of misfortunes happened." the wealth deity argued. "It's not a reasonable excuse." she eyed the cat with a stern look, "What is even the difference between talking to her versus waiting for her? Either way, you can't protect her."
The flower deity nodded, "She has a point. Entering the dream realm will be risky for both of you. You can't simply interact with her because you want to. Attachments may change the flow of events. It will affect the way she deals with her stories."
For a second, a pattern embroidered the clouds in the sky. The sun hid behind the overlooking patches of billowy clouds that gathered together. The wind blew a cold breeze the moment a visitor entered the village. From afar away, a towering man walked by the snowy pathway towards the entrance of the Hanok. He wore his usual headpiece, dark outfit, and combat shoes that made his steps loud. He approached the doorway with a cold demeanor after seeing the spirits of the immortal realm. With hands stuffed in his pockets, the grim reaper eavesdropped on their conversation.
Their noises grew audible and clear as he entered the room. Surprisingly, no one saw him lurking in the shadows to listen to their topic. The three deities' backs faced him while the seraph sat near the window. The two other goddesses stood beside the bed where the human slept peacefully. Consequently, the angel exchanged words with the cat on the bed to express his concerns.
Their unexpected visitor scuffed beside the three busy females where he can be easily recognized. The river deity felt a sudden shift in the atmosphere caused by the cold ambiance the grim reaper brought. She glanced to her side and gasped upon seeing the youngest guardian's arrival.
"Jungkook? What are you doing here?" Yoongi locked eyes with the grim reaper. The grim reaper disappeared for a moment before a blue, glittering smoke appeared in front of the two deities and the cat.
Yoongi looked surprised upon seeing the grumpy guardian settle his feet on the house of goddesses. He always held a grudge with them and seeing him up close in his dominating demeanor implied an unusual reason.
"I believe you came here solely for the human," he sat on the bed with eyes sparkling with curiosity. "Rest assured that she's safe but—"
"We need to talk."
Yoongi remained unfazed at his blunt remark. The goddesses started whispering again, something about the infamous guardian. Jungkook ignored them, still eyeing the feline on the bed.
"What do you want to talk about?" he chimed.
"I want to talk to you alone."
The Cheshire cat exchanged glances with the fate deity. After hearing Jungkook's response, he signaled Mari to leave along with her sisters and the angel.
That's when the plans mayhaps turned a little different for both of them.

I was so busy with college plus I was very unmotivated to write because I feel like the plot is not interesting anymore? I’ve been contemplating whether to continue it or not :< I feel like the upcoming scenes will bore you because they might look rushed. I just hope you'll still like it even so.
Anyway, I hope you are all doing fine today! Thank you so much again for supporting my work. I'll do my best to finish the novel and probably write a new BTS fic if I have time :)
For now, I shall continue what I left and finally discuss the outline I wrote months ago.
Enjoy!

"It's Taehee."
"What?"
"Forget it. Let's just go." The White King finally turned his heel once the Cheshire cat locked eyes with him. Seokjin sighed deeply as he walked side by side with the grim reaper.
From afar away, Yoongi had his last glance of the two guardians before fleeing along with the seraph. He sighed as well upon seeing the human's face in the angel's grasp. In just a blink of an eye, the two immortals disappeared to visit the vicinity of deities.
The Hanok village.
Tumblr media
Two beaming flares floated in the air as they plummet to the ground of the oracle's manor. The will-o-wisp spiraled around the growing light to shape a structure of a person. Two guardians appeared in the Red King's library, in front of the occupied guardian. Books and papers filled his desk. A fine man in his dark-rimmed glasses continued scribbling the scrolls with a quill. He protruded his chin and furrowed his eyebrows, making the crease on his forehead visible.
Although he felt their presence, he ignored his visitors' whereabouts to look unbothered. The grim reaper cleared his throat to catch his attention, but the oracle acted like he never felt their presence when he had a glimpse of the floating flares just a minute ago.
"Namjoon," Jungkook grumbled.
"Oh, apologies. I was too busy." The oracle settled his glasses on the table with a small, smug smile creeping on his face. He blinked at the two guardians, leaned on one hand, and tilted his head.
"You don't normally visit me for a simple chitchat," he clasped his hands together and leaned a bit forward to spectate his visitors. "Unless it has something to do with unusual causalities."
"Let me guess. It's the human again."
Seokjin snapped his fingers, "Correct!"
Namjoon yawned, "Go on. I'm listening."
"Don't bluff. That birdbath probably told you the gist of it."
The oracle chuckled, "That's true. But maybe if you stop acting petulant, I would have known the whole story."
He looked at the wingless angel then back to the grumpy time guardian. "Perhaps, you came here just because the King told you so."
Jungkook slammed his palms against his table and glared at the oracle. Namjoon rose an eyebrow at his behavior before leaning against his chair.
But before the younger could mutter another sentence, Seokjin put a hand on his shoulder to pat him lightly. He shook his head softly to stop him from starting another fight. The grim reaper stepped back and crossed his arms over his chest with a blank expression on his face.
"We came here to ask for help not start a fight." The White King continued. "Besides, this will be a great chance to tell us everything before you ask him a question."
Jungkook sighed for the nth time as he leaned his rear by the desk. He started telling them how the contract ended, including how the human suddenly forgot her memories with him.
Namjoon hummed and began hypothesizing the reaper's situation. He snapped his fingers and thought of something that might help the three of them. The oracle stood up and walked by the nearest shelf. He hovered his hand over the textbooks with his magic to survey his collection. A book about vengeful spirits started floating just below his hand. It covered all the possible topics about the aforementioned supernatural being, starting from their history and then down to their abilities.
Namjoon settled the book on his table where the other two guardians waited. He opened it with his magic and muttered a question the book may answer. The book flipped the pages by itself and stopped momentarily. A page full of pictures and anecdotes gleamed briefly on the paper when the oracle started enunciating the words.
"What does it say?" Jungkook questioned.
"It's possible that Yeomra cursed the human by erasing her memories with you when he realized she could be the guardian's maiden. The oblivion curse can only be used by vengeful spirits with great resentments."
"So that explains why she couldn't remember you but herself," Seokjin murmured.
Jungkook's hums prolonged as he found himself agreeing with the book's answer. However, before the former moon rabbit would retaliate a question, Namjoon realized something.
"You said the seraph appeared out of nowhere and carried her. That could mean one thing. You weren't there when a spirit was trying to take over her body."
Jungkook nodded. "I couldn't save her from Wonderland's enchantment because of her curse. I tried to explain everything to her but she acted strange. That's when she had the chance to escape. When the seraph appeared with the Cheshire cat, Yuna was unconscious and..."
"And?"
"She looked drained."
Jungkook's gaze wavered when he remembered how the glow of the human's soul evanesced. Maybe it was because he couldn't be there to hold her hand and protect her from the lost spirits. Or because Yeomra's curse worsened her condition when she escaped Wonderland unarmed.
Jungkook is slowly becoming too preoccupied with her. Aside from becoming the guardian's maiden, there was something about her that felt too familiar as if they had both met before. Just like what the wingless angel implied, he shouldn't be confusing her with his previous lover. A conflicting intention will arise between him and Yuna if he does so.
"Her soul radiance falters in the daylight but never at night." he continued.
"Have you ever thought that maybe harming her would lose her radiance?" Seokjin shrugged.
"That could be one." Jungkook pursed his lips.
"But that doesn't seem to explain why her glow is uncategorized."
Jungkook gave the oracle an indescribable look. Namjoon scrunched his forehead and questioned him about his sudden facial expression. The grim reaper tilted his head to the side to gesture at his shelves for another query but Namjoon pinched the bridge of his nose and huffed.
"Funny how you're the oracle yet you don't look like you know many things."
"I told you for the nth time, we only have three categories of soul radiance: ghost, immortal and mortal." using his fingers, he dictated the three categories to the grim reaper sternly. "If I completely knew something, I could have told you that the moment you saw her." Namjoon deadpanned.
"Alright, enough bickering." Seokjin interrupted. "I thought you have a question you wanted to ask?"
Jungkook rolled his eyes. "Forget it. I'll figure that myself."
Just before Jungkook was about to turn into a will-o-wisp, a book fell in a thud. Namjoon immediately lifted the item with his magic and placed it on his table. The pages flipped and stopped again as texts glowed gold. Jungkook turned around and faced the two guardians out of curiosity.
"What did you do?"
"I didn't do anything," Namjoon said bluntly. "It looks like the library overheard us. It's giving us a hint."
Namjoon looked at the gleaming title quizzically.
Transmigration. The title says. The three of them huddled together and whispered the passages of the book. As they read the puzzling paragraphs with an open mind, a passage caught Namjoon's attention.
"Wait." he stopped the two from touching the pages with their fingers.
"Transmigration is an act of transferring the spirit of an object or living creature to an unconscious or conscious body. A spell is used to do this process. A prominent emblem is seared on the new host of the transmigrated spirit. For example, if an inanimate object is transferred to a living host, a symbol marks the living host, therefore, indicating that they are under the spell."
"What does that have to do with our situation?" Jungkook asked.
"It's trying to answer our previous question," Seokjin replied.
Namjoon nodded. "Transmigration has something to do with the human and I believe, it has something to do with her soul radiance as well."
"How?"
"I remembered a statement from the book of soul alchemy," the oracle summoned his magic again to make another book appear on his desk. "If two or more souls or spirits are merged, it creates a new variation. The variation modifies its appearance, characteristic and value, thus, creating a new kind."
"So...are you implying that this modification interfered with their development?"
"Yes. If we apply this thought to the situation at hand, we can say that it is possible that the human experienced a transmigration spell and that it modified some of her features. This could mean that her soul radiance is a new variation which is why we couldn't find a specific category of it."
"It's because she has another soul merged with her..." Jungkook trailed off.
"The question is, who cast a spell on her? What kind of spirit was merged with hers? How and when did this happen? Why her of all the other mortals?"
"Woah, chill. We don't know the answer too, Jungkook. I'm pretty sure we can find one if we—"
A loud ringing sound interrupted their conversation. The telephone on the oracle's desk rang a few times before the guardian begrudgingly took the phone and listened to the other side of the line. The goblin's voice pierced his ears. Namjoon answered his call with a question, but the goblin was somewhat in a hurry. He demanded that he and the other guardians should visit Reality for the news he had to share. However, the oracle found it too vague, so Jimin had no choice but to blurt the words he wanted to tell.
"We need your help."
"What happened?"
"Her mother was sent to the hospital last night."
"What's he saying?" Seokjin frowned upon seeing the oracle's expression. Jungkook furrowed his eyebrows and asked the same thing, so Namjoon turned the speaker on for them to hear.
"Yeomra's probably trying to threaten everyone she knows."
Unfortunately, Namjoon had to end the call after sensing the urgent task. He stood up from his seat and opened some drawers to find a valuable object suitable for blending in with the crowd of mortals.
"Yuna is in danger." he scurried to the books on his desk to hover his hand over them and magically absorb the highlighted statements on the paper. He showed his palm where the words engraved his skin for a moment before it disappeared when he rubbed his palm with his fingers.
"Don't forget to bring your vizards. Tell Hoseok we're staying in Reality."
Without a single question, Jungkook and Seokjin left the library for an unexpected mission.

This was so unusual for him.. he was never this late.
What if something had happened to him? What if he was lying on the side of the road somewhere, bleeding out and nobody was saving him? Sure, Jin always said that the only one that had to be protected was you, which is why he wanted you to stay at home 24/7, but you couldn’t just sit around and do nothing, while he might die at any second, right?

“Jagi, no,” he tried sounding serious, but couldn’t help the chuckle that escaped his throat when you straddled him, only to wrap your arms around his neck and snuggle against his chest, “It’s too hot for that.”
“Fight me, then,” you haven’t been allowed to cuddle him all day and, well, you could only take so much, when your boyfriend was sitting so close next to you.
From the way his arms were lying left and right of his body, completely limp because he couldn’t even bother wrapping them around you, it didn’t seem like he had it in him.
“Why are you so stubborn?”
You just grinned and snuggled tighter against your sweaty boyfriend.
“Because you wouldn’t have it any other way.”
That was true.
