Why let technology run your life?
So it took my phone going to zero percent to realise that I been missing so much keeping my eyes and hands glued to a screen. Yes, this is very sad… sad that it took me so long to realise that our world is more concerned with texting someone back, tweeting, snapping, posting everything little thing every second, watching funny videos, wondering who likes what post? If our boyfriends liked another girl’s photo and added some girl on Facebook. Honestly in the end who cares. it’s about making life worth it! It’s about going in a car with your friends singing on the top of your lungs doing Face mask and dancing until you can’t stand anymore and telling each other secrets… it’s about enjoying every second with a person mentally, emotionally and physically. It’s about actually enjoying a meal having the old fashioned conversations… I don’t get how we became so detached from one another .. I don’t get how we went from being at parks, carnivals, and sleepovers. To being too lazy to get out of bed because the next Netflix show came out. I’m ashamed at myself for doing all these things. I’m ashamed that technology has been running my life… social media should be connecting with people and once we do connect we go out with that person and put the phone, remote, and laptop down and have thrilling day. We are losing ourselves in all this social media crap… before I didn’t care where my phone was if someone texted me back in a certain amount of time or if I got left on read? I didn’t care that my cell phone was dead for weeks at a time… yes cell phones can be useful for emergencies and looking up answers to a test, but would we even be looking up the answers if we put our phone down and actually give attention to our teachers? Would we miss some really important conversations or hearing about someone’s day? I know I try to talk to many people at dinner, lunch, and other places just for them to not actually be listening because they’re stuck to their phone… I get that phones should be something people have for safety reasons.. to keep in touch with your friends and family over the holidays or a long trip… but are we really enjoying ourselves?? I’m not we just want to look good for the cameras at a party for snap chat which, by all means, is not a bad thing take one video then put the phone down and go wild and have fun. Concerts to Are you really enjoying the music paying attention to a screen? If the video was right? If you had enough selfies for that night? Just put the phone down and get back out to the real life of enjoying someone company Because in the end the missed calls and messages and events on Facebook you can enjoy seeing will be there for days weeks even months maybe even years. Now the time wasted that you should be enjoying life, someone’s company, are the moments of life you won’t get back. So I ask you to put down the phone for the day/night have a conversation with a stranger or an old friend over coffee . Go to a party and have fun without the cameras flashing. Go to a family dinner where half the table isn’t on their phone just start living life outside of social media and cell phones get away from it all and actually see life for what it truly is outside of a little screen.
