Find the Word Tag
Thanks for the tag @anoelleart! couldn't find court and mist so I added my own words.
Stand
She frowned. “Insanity is a matter of perspective, Seraphina. A color blind person and a person without would find each other’s view of the world delusional without the evidence of the existence of color blindness. As it stands, we view you as just as insane as you view us.”
-Bleeding Black (Samsara Syndrome)
Insist
Another unreadable expression. Was he offended? “It's really unnecessary. You should take the time to enjoy yourself, Kalani.” “I insist. I can't in my right mind enjoy myself when my best friend might be sick.” If Kalani was anything, she was stubborn.
-Letting the Devil In
Corpse
Just as I was about to descend into full blown panic, Azrael’s corpse violently lurched up and tackled me to the floor. I couldn’t shout out my surprise due to getting a mouth full of hair as the body swung its head back and forth, wide eyed.
-The Masked Ones
Bone
Its head was like that of a bull, only with some portions seemingly rotted off to reveal bone. It had eight horns in total, a pair like a regular bull’s, a pair coming out of its eye sockets, a pair right above the eye socket that curved the opposite way, and a pair almost tracing its jawline. A mixture of sharp and dull teeth shone in the moonlight.
-Blood and Purple Hyacinths

Writeblr Follow Train/queue fill up!
I just cleared out over 300 inactive/irrelevant blogs from my following list and I'm on the hunt for new, active writeblrs to follow! Please reblog this post if your blog is dedicated specifically to writing/art/original creative work!!
I'm not interested in seeing fandom or political discourse. That's all very important but my dash is cluttered with hundreds of other blogs posting that thank you very much.
All genres and ages are welcome but bonus points for fantasy, scifi, horror, and anyone who doesn't write romance/focuses on family plots
I am in the process of self publishing my debut novel and I'd love to connect with my peers! If you're also going through the publishing process or you have a book or two out, please introduce yourself!!
That being said, everyone is welcome to introduce themselves and share links to their WIP intros regardless of their experience level, I'll throw em in my queue!
If you don't know me: Hi! I'm Etta Grace, I've been on writeblr since 2019, and I used to be super involved in the community before college/real life work/author platform stuff consumed my time, and I'm trying to get back into things here! I run a website/YouTube channel where I do ARC and book reviews, author interviews, and share my observations on the publishing industry, and my middle grade faerie fantasy novel, Runaways, should hopefully be coming out in October 2025! This is my pinned post if you want to check out what I do!
Boosts appreciated!!

"You know if I didn't know any better, I would think you wanted to be caught."
He paused digging and glanced over his shoulder, though he was far from worried. He could be deaf and still recognize that voice.
And there she was, in all her deadly beauty, with a shovel in hand and a body thrown over her shoulder.
He turned around and leaned on his shovel. "Why hello there, beautiful. Come here often?"
She sighed. "We haven't seen each other for years and that's the first thing you say to me?"
He only smiled in response.
She shook her head before idly observing the corpse next to him. "If you were just going to bury him, why did you decapitate him?"
That earned her a frown. "My client didn't accept the proof of my completed contract. They freaked and insisted I dispose of the body." He sighed. "They were the ones who wanted to deal with me directly..."
"So you bring the head of all your contracts now?"
"Ever since they didn't believe me about you."
She looked away.
"Anyway..." He gestured to the body on her shoulder. "I'm pretty sure you have better ways of disposing of bodies than burying them."
"I'm framing someone." She dropped the corpse to the forest floor unceremoniously. Fishing out a box of cigarettes from her pocket, she lit one but curled her face in disgust. "Ugh, how to people stand these, much less enjoy them?"
He shrugged. "Drugs do weird things to people. But what has gotten you upset enough to be a little less serial killer than usual?"
She glared. "I am not a serial killer. I'm an assassin."
"The organization you served is long gone and you don't take contracts. Sounds a lot like a serial killer."
"Vigilante, then."
He mock bowed. "As you wish."
She threw the cigarette at him.
His smile returned. "I missed this."
The annoyance marring her features melted. "Yeah, me too."
"We should go get something to eat, for old time's sake." He suggested.
"Sure, but first." She tapped her corpse with her shovel.
"Of course."
A husband and wife unexpectedly meet in the same spot, both trying to bury a body

Find the word tag game
thanks @saintedseraph for the tag!
sadly didn't have dusk or dawn so I did some replacements.
Dark - Bleeding Black (Samsara Syndrome)
Pocketing my phone, I entered the alleyway. It was dark and dank, the last place you would look for most things.   That’s what made it perfect.
Light - Letting the Devil In
Flanking the caravan, as I suspected, where several demon hunters. I didn’t need to see the enchanted pins on their chests to know their professions. Demon hunters always had this aura about them. One of soft moonlight and gentle ocean waves. Tender but powerful.
Smoke - When there is Nothing but the Crackling of Flames
You could always tell when a lynching was happening. Most of the village or town would be abandoned, the inhabitants all gathering in one place with the smell of smoke of countless torches in the air.
Light (again lol) - Qliphoth
Instinct commanded my eyelids to flicker open against the searing, all-consuming light, dragging them painfully across my all too dry eyes. Eyes that only burned more when exposed to the unforgiving light.

find the word tag
thank you to @rachaellawrites for the tag and the words!
i'm tagging: @ladywithalamp, @lynsterswritingblog, and @morriguscrawls. your words are: dark, light, dawn, and dusk!
drink
Severed Dawn, Sundered Night Book 1, Chapter 1 III: Within Halls of Death, the Sun Blazes
Once, the halls of Vysael gorged on tapestries and paintings and ceramics, a wine goblet brimming with beauty, and still, they always found a place for another sculpture of Vysthasza.
focus
Wounded Divinity, Withered Cosmos Book 1, Chapter 1 II: A Sword Gilded in Flesh
The Deathscourge mutters instructions to an unseen knight, her eyes focused anywhere that isn’t the triptych projecting her through the cosmos. Behind her, an ornately framed viewport glimpses a desert world. Isteriath, if she had to guess, the empire’s slow conquering of Trinity worlds trudging ever on.
swirl
Wounded Divinity, Withered Cosmos Book 1, Chapter 1 III: Dance of the Moon's Martyr
He raises his hand as if to grasp an invisible weapon from the heavens, and a sword of translucent solthys slides with a sickening slickness from his wrist until the hilt rests in his palm. It fractals with swirling light, the souls of his kills imprisoned within the viscera-drenched crystal.
fog
Severed Dawn, Sundered Night Book 1, Chapter 2 IV: Necrosis of the Body, Rot of the Soul
Vitoria overlooks the valley beneath her home, palms to the stone balustrade of a tower. Moonlight variegates through great boughs onto an evening-fogged river, the water’s hiss refracting high into its mountain cradle. Boreal breeze crosses her bare shoulders and swells in the creases of her nightgown. Her people’s laughter reaches to the stars as they gather in the courtyard to feast.

Lerna
Tumblr media
“In our humble opinion, you should embraced this sin. You are who you are, and it is a greater sin to lie and pretend you are someone you are not.” Lerna blinked, slow and deliberate. “But we hardly care about sins and their weight anymore. We are the Devil amongst devils after all. It is all the same to us.”
A deceased Tamer that haunts Seraphina for unknown reasons. While Lerna used to be fairly high ranking, she was dubbed insane and then outcast. She doesn't seem to have the limitations being dead should have imposed upon her...
Bio:
Age: ??? Birthday: ??? Race: Tamer Gender: Nonbinary, any/all but is usually referred to as she/her
Fun Facts:
refers to herself in plural, when asked about this, she'll question if an individual is truly an individual or if they are simply a group of beings that only think they are single entity
loves to fuck with people
her pranks can range from harmless to life ruining, though the latter is reserved to those she feels deserve it
She is known to switch from being serious to silly on a whim
when playing fighting games, she always chooses random
Some Fitting Songs:
Dramaturgy by Eve
Edge and Pearl by Mechinae Supremacy
Pain by Three Days Grace
Final Masquerade by Linkin Park
White Rabbit by Egypt Central
From: Bleeding Black/Samsara Syndrome

that being said i think it's such a great decision to introduce a character by a name that you later find out isn't the one they've always gone by. because of the obvious transgender subtext but also because it sets up a personal mystery for you to get invested in. is the choice to change their name a tragedy or a triumph? what is the significance of the name they chose? was the decision even their own?

Out of Context line tag game
thank you @loopyhoopywrites for the tag! Here's a line from a wip that I'm particularly proud of.
Her strong features seemed to be carved out of a pale glacier, her short cropped blonde hair doing nothing to warm the iciness of her appearance.

Out of Context line tag
Thanks @chauceryfairytales for the tag! Since I've recently been reading through some old, forgotten about WIPs, have a completely out of context line from a short story I'm thinking of revisiting.
About half a mile ahead, surrounded by orange cones and a cacophony of very angry drivers, the dragon –shiny, red, and around eight lanes of traffic long– yawned.

Find the Word Tag game
Thanks for the tag @saintedseraph
My words are Journey, revive, again, and storm.
Oh boy, I don't think I have Journey or revive, will probably have to substitute.
Journey (what do you know I had this one) - Bleeding Black (Samsara Syndroma)
School bathrooms. The place of many a teens breakdowns.   What excuse I gave Kasey and Aiden was lost in the haze of my journey to the bathroom.   I sat on the stall floor silently, feeling too worn out to properly cry.
Alive - Letting the Devil In
Not that I blamed them. It was only thanks to them that I was alive and not… Well, I didn’t really want to consider the possibility of if they hadn’t found me.
Again - Qliphoth
I rushed out of my hiding place, removing my fingers from my ear to help her. Both were a mistake, as the sirens once again assaulted my ears and she only scooted back with a terrified expression at my approach. “D-don’t come any closer!”
Storm - Bleeding Black (Samsara Syndrome)
The flood continued and I was already drowned.  Who was I? Was I anyone at all?  Was I just a mere figment of this storm?  If I screamed, would I be truly screaming? And would anyone hear me?  Was I alone?  I felt alone.
