There's a cool fun fact!
Tumblr media
When depression-era farmwomen had to start using flour bags and feed sacks to make clothes for their families, manufacturers began making their bags out of brightly-colored and printed fabrics to boost sales and add a little flair to the common sack dress.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Once the trend caught on to the point that manufacturers were confident it would stick, they started making fabrics in an even wider variety of patterns and colors:

They even gave instructions on how to remove the ink, if you didn’t like the pattern:

Just in case someone needs to hear this.
im gonna say it
having d.i.d or osdd doesnt make you broken having tourettes doesnt make you broken being autistic doesnt make you broken having adhd doesnt make you broken having ocd doesnt make you broken having a personality disorder doesnt make you broken having bipolar disorder doesnt make you broken having schizophrenia doesnt make you broken having a psychotic disorder doesnt make you broken having depersonalisation, derealisation, dissociation, etc. doesnt make you broken having dyslexia, dyscaluclia, dysgraphia, etc. doesnt make you broken  having ptsd or c-ptsd doesnt make you broken having an eating disorder doesnt make you broken having a depressive disorder/depression doesnt make you broken having an anxiety or panic disorder doesnt make you broken having literally any mental disorder or neurodivergency that i havent mentioned here doesnt make you broken. and… thats that! you are not broken, you arent a burden, you arent ‘‘crazy’‘, you arent unlovable, and you arent a bad person.  youre worthy of love, youre worthy of kindness, youre worthy of life and a community.   this is incredibly corny but its true.

Some adults still go through this too, especially in the time we’re in right now. You don’t even have to be living at home. A lot of people need to hear this, me included.

Amenity And Love
Requested by @fandomsarefamily1966
A frodo reader insert where he overhears you confess your feelings for him to another. This is my first request so I took a bit more time with it! I wanted to try something a little different and told the story from Frodo’s perspective. Enjoy!
I turned over onto my side for what felt like the tenth time in the last few minutes. The constant nights sleeping on the ground with only a small fire to keep warm was beginning to take a toll on my body. What I would give to wake up tomorrow in a nice warm bed with a certain hobbit clung to my side. But that was just a dream for the time being, I knew, until the evil was finally put to rest once and for all.
I subconsciously slipped my hand into my pocket feeling for the gold ring I kept hidden there. The cold surface of it served as a reminder that this journey could very well end in my death. If only I had taken the time to tell her how I felt, especially before we set out on this quest, if only I had told her to remain in the Shire in wait for me. But I knew her well enough to know she would never do that, any protest I offered would have fallen on deaf ears.
I was pulled back to reality when I heard nearby voices. Slowly, I sat up, squeezing my eyes shut when I felt a dull throb at my temples. With a gentle rub with my fingertips, I did my best to ignore it and rose to my feet. Once I was steady, I held my breath, focusing my hearing as best I could to see if I could make out any words being said. But, of course, that attempt went in vain once our sleeping watchman, Gimli, began to snore loud enough to alert the next village of our arrival a couple days early. With curiosity getting the best of me, I headed off in the direction the voices drifted from, leaving Gimli to his dreams.
I halted my steps immediately, ducking swiftly behind a tree when I noticed Sam speaking with the hobbit that just plagued my thoughts and worries mere moments ago. Her twinkling orbs were noticeably wide beneath her furrowed brow, clearly upset about something.
“So, you want to tell him now about how you feel? Right now?” Sam asked, gazing slightly down at the shorter halfling. “You’ve known Mr. Frodo for years, why didn’t you tell him this before?” He asked, tilting his head slightly.
“That’s what I mean! I’ve been trying to tell him but every time I do my body locks up and I just can’t get the words out. And now with all of the danger surrounding us, him mostly, will there ever be a time?” Her whisper was gentle, but the fear could still be heard in her delicate voice. “I just don’t know what to do.” Her shoulders slouched then, head tilting to her feet. From my place, she looked defeated and eternally exhausted.
“Well, I don’t think now would be a good time to be confessing to him, he has enough on his mind already and he doesn’t need to be distracted.” Sam said, making a valid point. The halfling nodded in agreement, rubbing a hand over her tired eyes.
“I just wish I could have the strength to just spill everything to him.” She muttered as she held her dress tightly in her fists in front of her until her knuckles turned white.
“Maybe when this is all said and done you can try again. I personally always thought you two would make a cute couple.” Sam winked at her, chuckling when her face lit up like a red tomato.
“C’mon. Let’s go get some rest. We have a long road ahead of us tomorrow and I’m not sure when we’ll be stopping again.” Sam said, taking a few steps back towards camp.
“You go ahead. I’ll be there in a few minutes.” She told him. Sam nodded in understanding before finally walking off.
As he grew closer to where I was hidden, I flattened myself against the tree as much as possible in hopes of not being spotted. Thankfully, he kept moving past me as a loud yawn left his lungs.
Once I was sure he wasn’t coming back, I quietly made my way over to the figure that was now seated on the grass, head tilted up towards the crescent moon above us. I lowered myself to sit beside her, keeping my gaze focused ahead of me. For the first time in a while, I felt calm as a comfortable silence settled over the two of us. Having her near felt so right, especially now that my suspicions have been confirmed.
I turned my head to look at her, debating with myself on whether or not I should tell her what I heard. It was true that I felt the same way, but maybe Sam was right. Maybe this wasn’t the best time. But what if we didn’t get another opportunity? Neither of us knew what our future held, all we could do was make the best of what we had now.
“So how much did you hear?” She asked, pulling me from my thoughts. I could feel my face light up, realizing I had been staring at her for far too long.
“Oh uh...well…” I trailed off, unsure of what to say.
“Either you heard or Sam told you.” My eyes widened, quickly fixing my mistake to keep Sam out of trouble.
“No no, he didn’t say anything! I woke up and could hear voices so I was just making sure we weren’t in any danger sense Gimli fell asleep again.” I rushed, waving my hands in front of me as I spoke.
“But..I did hear what you said.” I confessed. I could feel her watching me, waiting for me to continue. Truth was, I didn’t know what to say at the moment when I could still hear her words echo clearly through my mind.
Without thinking, I turned towards her and pressed a small kiss to her lips. She inhaled sharply, her muscles immediately tensed by my sudden action. I giggled as the blush on her face deepened, covering the tips of her pointed ears in an adorable way.
“You’re cute when you blush.” I told her.
“No I'm not, stop it!” She stuttered, playfully slapping my arm.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” I finally asked after a moment's pause. She sighed, slouching a little.
“I didn’t want to bother you. Not right now anyways with this quest we’re all on. I thought it might only cause extra baggage you don’t need right now.” I stared at her for a moment, letting her words soak in. Her confession felt...sad. Could she truly think that I'd find her a nuisance just because she has feelings for me?
“You know that isn’t true.” My voice was quiet, almost a whisper. I took her hand in mine then, lacing our fingers together.
“Knowing this actually comforts me. It gives me another reason to complete this mission. And once it’s over and we return home, we can focus on us.” I pulled her a bit closer to me and placed a kiss on her cheek.
“I would really like that.” She mumbled, resting her head on my shoulder. Silence fell upon us once again, lulling a state of sleep over both of our tired bodies.
“We should probably get some sleep now.” I suggested, to which she yawned in agreement. And with that, I followed her back to our camp with new determination to see the end of this evil and to return with her by my side.

The Snowball
An Ellie x Female Reader.  You take Ellie out for a snow outing on a winter night where unexpected feelings are discovered.
I didn’t proof read this so sorry for any grammar or spelling mistakes. I hope you enjoy this cringfest and Merry Christmas!
My boot clad feet crunched in the snow as I shivered from the biting cold that winter evening. Ellie followed close behind me, arms crossed over her chest as she struggled to keep up. I turned to face her for a moment, giving her a chance to catch up.
“So, why exactly are we out here again?” Ellie asked, holding her hands up to her face to blow some air over them in an attempt to keep them warm.
“I just wanted to go for a walk with you, that’s all. When’s the last time just the two of us did something together?” She rolled her eyes at this, clearly not amused.
“We see each other every day. Did we really need to come all this way just to hang out? It’s freezing out here!” I watched her for a moment, noticing the subtle trembling of her body in her thin flannel and jeans.
“Well, maybe if someone at least wore some gloves you wouldn’t feel so cold! And besides, we never get to hang out anymore. Not with how badly Erin has been trying to get your attention.” I teased, giggling when her cheeks flushed even more red. “It’s pretty obvious that she’s crazy over you. Painfully so in fact.”
“I know, it’s actually sort of annoying the way she’s always glued to me when she’s around. That’s why I spend so much time locked up in my place. She can’t bother me if I don't let her in.” I chuckled at her attempts to keep Erin at arm's length. It was cute how flustered Ellie would get whenever her admirer would find all of her hiding spots.
“What, you don’t like her? I thought you two would make a great couple!” I said, placing both my hands over my heart as a large grin spread across my face.
“Ha ha very funny. Can we hurry this up? It’s going to be dark soon.” She said, motioning to the sky above us that was covered completely by dark clouds.
“Actually, this is the place I wanted to be!” I said as we came to a clearing in the trees. Without another thought, I reached down with my mitten covered hands and began to pack the snow together. Once I had a good sized snowball, I pushed it over the ground, watching as it started to collect more.
“What on earth are you doing?” Ellie asked me. I glanced over my shoulder to see her still standing where I left her.
“I’m building a snowman? What does it look like I’m doing?” I countered, sarcasm dripping from my voice.
“Why? We don’t really have time for this. We should head back before the sun sets.” She complained for what felt like the thousandth time that evening. I sighed, releasing a white puff of air that soon disappeared.
“Because it’s fun and I want to build one. Now are you going to help me or just stand there and watch?” I asked, continuing in pushing the large mound forward. I was surprised at how heavy it got so quickly.
“Fine.” Was all Ellie said before she stood beside me, helping to push the man's base until it was in the center of the clearing.
“This is stupid, let’s just go. It’s dangerous to be out here after dark.” At that moment, I had made a decision, one that I wasn’t sure if I would be glad I made, or regret later. I turned my back away from Ellie long enough to form another snowball in my hands, patting it together until it formed a solid sphere.
“Is that all you know how to do is complain?” I questioned, holding my hands behind my back to conceal my intentions. Ellie raised an eyebrow, watching each careful step I took towards her.
“Of course not. I just don’t like being dragged out on a winter night to have what you consider fun.” She defended. “We spend enough time out here on patrol during the day as it is.”
“Are you saying my ideas are stupid?” I quizzed, feigning hurt.
“No! That’s not what I meant at all. I mean..I guess I just...fuck.” She lowered her head, clearly uncomfortable, thinking I was offended.
In one swift motion, I pushed the clump down the front of her shirt, laughing as she audibly gasped and shoved me away.
“Ow! Fuck that hurts!” As quickly as she could she reached up her shirt, trying desperately to brush whatever snow she could off of her pale skin, though a lot of it had already melted. My sides began to hurt, unable to stop the loud cackles that left my lungs at Ellie's misfortune, even if it was because of me.
Ellie glared at me for a moment, eyes wide as she charged at me without warning. I squealed, squeezing my eyes shut as both of our bodies plummeted onto the freezing ground beneath us. I coughed a few times from the sudden impact before opening my eyes to see Ellie kneeling over me, panting heavily as she glared down at me.
“You know, sometimes you really get on my nerves.” She said between breaths of air. My eyes met hers and my face glowed red all the way to my ear tips from our closeness. For a moment, I couldn’t find words, still shocked by being tackled to the ground so suddenly. The wooded area around us grew silent. I eyed her lips that were now swollen and red from the nipping air, lingering there for a moment before my moved my gaze back up to her green eyes.
Without missing a beat, Ellie leaned down, pressing her icy lips to mine. I slowly reached up, trailing my hand to wrap around the back of her head, pulling her slightly closer. Butterflies fluttered in my stomach the longer our mouths danced together, creating that warmth I realized I was beginning to miss. But all too soon she pulled away, leaving me a flustered mess beneath her, though I tried my best not to show it. A smirk crossed her freckled face, clearly amused in my attempt to hide my current state.
“I’ve been wanting to do that for a while now.” She whispered, not showing any signs of moving yet.
“I know you have.” I smirked, finally able to speak. “But can we go home now? I’m starting to freeze out here.”
“How about this for tonight. Let’s go back to  my place and we can cuddle, watch a movie and warm up with some hot cocoa. Does that sound good?” I nodded in reply, feeling my body begin to shiver from laying in the cold for too long.
Finally, Ellie stood to her feet and helped me to mine. Without asking, I grabbed hold of her arm, pressing my body to hers to keep warm until we made it back to her home. We were silent the whole way, neither of us able to whip the goofy grins from our freezing cheeks, never once regretting my decision to force that snowball down Ellie's clothes.

Hello! I don't know if you're still taking requests or not, but if you are, would you mind doing a Frodo x Hobbit reader fic in which she's too shy to admit her feelings for him because she doesn't think he feels the same way and doesn't want to burden him any more than he already is? But then she finally spills it all out to someone else in the Fellowship (most likely Aragorn or Sam) and he overhears and tells her that he does feel the same way, and that her love isn't a burden, but a comfort
I can certainly give it a go! This is my first request so please be patient! :)
