ok since everyone is asking how i did it i guess i might as well share just a couple things that got me there
1. calories in, calories out. biggest principal. if you are consuming fewer calories than youre eating, youll lose weight. thats it. it might be muscle, fat, combo of both, but you WILL lose weight. all these following tips are really just how to maintain this cycle.
2. track everything. i know how hard it is to write down whatever put you over your limit, but you really have to. accountability is key and its saved me from multiple binges getting worse. it sucks, but writing it down lets you recognize binge triggers. also, you already ate that food, not logging it wont mean that you didnt.
3. have some sort of breakfast. it didnt take long for me to realize that i am not successful with intermittent fasting beyond the typical “dont eat past x time”. long fasts are alright, but ive noticed that if i skip breakfast and lunch, as soon as the evening hits i eat way more than i wouldve if i hadnt skipped. maybe thats just me, but whatever.
4. water. everyone alsways talks about how important water is. you probably already know the benefits. filling you up, hydration, metabolism support, etc.
5. do whatever strength training you can. even just a few bodyweight exercises every day, whatever you can manage will help. strength training is key to keeping your metabolism running and burning more calories in general. it helps preserve more muscle mass which lowers your body fat percentage when you lose weight. if youre super lightweight but you have a high bfp, thats literally why youre skinnyfat. try to keep some muscle tone to avoid that.
6. eat “healthy” foods. for the love of god dont spend all your calories on oreos. thats not so say you cant have food you enjoy, just dont go overboard. for me, sugar makes me crave more sugar. same thing with heavy carbs or oily foods. try to eat foods that will actually nourish your body instead of making it hate you even more. aim for more protein and fiber to keep you satiated and dont be afraid of some healthy fats.
7. make your food fit your aesthetic. this is a major help for me. if i tell myself that im going to eat like a beautiful delicate fairy or whatever, im going to stick to foods that fit that aesthetic. berries, fruits, vegetables, light carbs, etc. ive found that if i do this, i dont dread eating as much and am less likely to fall victim to cravings if i do this. it isnt science, but you can try it for yourself.
8. vitamins are my saving grace. i take a daily womens vitamin, b12 supplement, biotin, and slow-release iron. vitamins are so so important for your body and missing them really wont help you lose weight. youll just feel sluggish and terrible. trust me.
thats all ive got for right now! remember, these are just things that have worked for me, they might not work perfectly for you and thats alright. all my info has come from self guided research and shouldnt be taken as a hard rule. please stay safe and seek recovery wherever you can.
