8th May 2022, I woke up feeling awfully empty. The realisation began choking me. It was the first time mom ever that would not come with her big smile and wish me ‘happy mother’s day’ first thing in the morning as she always did, even before I got a chance to wish her. It was a ritual she religiously followed every since Kyra was born. . Could never imagine life without her, a true blood super woman in every sense with the kindest soul. Every time a situation starts bringing my morale down, I just have to remind myself ‘girl your mom lost her husband at 34 and brought up 3 girls all by herself without an ounce of assistance from anyone’, so what the hell are you cribbing about??!! And it works like magic every single time! Well they don’t make ‘em like that anymore. ‘Happy Mother’s Day’ mom! ‘Life in the Mountains’ Another long weekend’s here and so are the traffic jams. Roads are usually chock-a-block in this popular summer destination mostly towards May end and June. But this year everything’s early!Just the other day, we were headed to Kyra’s school in the middle of town and regrettably got stuck a few kilometres short. When after a good hour of stagnation it was pretty clear that the traffic was moving nowhere, Kyra & I decided to trudge uphill leaving Prashant to keep the car company. . We hopped off the main road and went hiking through the woods. And today, not so surprisingly, our little cloud did have a silver lining. It swiftly drifted in barring the UV rays and thereafter our traipse beneath the tall pines turned into an afternoon of delightful adventure ! After 45 minutes of huffing and puffing, we eventually reached the school. Wrapping up our task rapidly, we took the alternate route via the iconic Hadimba temple and hastened back to the car. . So what ideally was just a 10 minutes drive, cost us an entire afternoon! But we ain’t complaining, a walk in the woods always makes your day! We @limetrails went to Sristhal Shri Mallikarjuna Swami temple to explore the location near Palolem where Singham movie was shot but came back stunned by this incredibly beautiful temple tucked away in a little valley camouflaged by coconut trees and cashew nut plantations. There were 14 exquisitely carved wooden pillars from the 16th century depicting stories from the Mahabharata and the Purana's that had us completely spellbound. We would say a fantastic find and a must visit in South Goa!

No description of cola beach is complete without an ode to the beautiful backwaters which is a feature exclusive to this natural hideout...and yes you can head out on a canoe into the deep green lagoon...and that's just what we did! . It was delightfully therapeutic just as I had envisaged... gliding on those calm waters, the silence broken only by the rhythmic lapping of water and the occasional squawk of the seagull. Sunlight streamed through the coconut palms and made crisscross patterns everywhere. The water glistened like a million jewels strewn on mother earth. Time seemed to stand still even as the soul was engulfed in this seduction of nature. . But alas happiness was short lived. The magic was unceremoniously broken with loud chatter from other approaching canoes.
