Hi everyone - sorry I basically forgot to update this blog again for basically the last 6 months. I did get featured on Tested however talking about Ma.K so that was really cool! I’ll have some photos of recent builds coming soon, I promise!

WIP:
Origin Guncannon + “Gundam Man”
The Gundam Man is made from a Love Love Garden Ma.K resin figure with leftover parts added to make him look like he is wearing armor styled after Gundam. Experimented a bit with painting with Vallejo Acrylics, but it turns out I still enjoy lacquers more.

Work In Progress:
EX MODEL Magella Attack
Ahh.. good old EX Model - extremely detailed but so expensive and a bit fiddly when it comes to the parts layout. Still the only way to get certain subjects in styrene, and this Magella looks way better than the old 80s Magella attack kit which didn’t even have a clear part for the turret canopy (which brings to mind how absolutely stupid a tank with a glass canopy on the turret looks). Painted with Gaia Notes lacquers and ready to weather!

Work in Progress
Bandai 1/12 Scale K2SO
Building this for a friend who is a big Star Wars collector. Neat little kit, decided to try a more retro color scheme on this one.

Planning my first major Gunpla build of 2019 - going to revisit making a large scale diorama again with multiple kits instead of the vignettes and single bases I have been doing. HGUC Revive Mk II and HGUC Barzam, should be interesting!
Thanks for continuing to follow in 2018 despite my lack of posting due to real life issues and also the weird things happening to the Tumblr platform. Here’s to everyone having a great holiday and see you in 2019 with more modeling content!

I made an Instagram!
In light of the fact that I have had two obviously totally appropriate posts here flagged as NSFW, I made an Instagram to share my model works there as well. I will continue to post here as I am thankful for everyone who has followed this blog and enjoyed my modeling works, but if you want to see some WIPs, smaller projects, etc, please follow my Instagram account as well:

Thank you!

COMPLETED
1/20 Wave Gustav
Finished another one of my Wave Gustav kits from the stash, used the pilot bust from the Ketzer kit. Hand painted with Gaianotes paints and oils. Base is made from small balsa wood planks I aged with oil paints and a resin cast piece of wall. Decals are from the Kuster/Friedrich dual box set. Thanks as always for checking out my work!

I did a short interview about my entry for GBWC. Hope you enjoy it & Thanks for reading!
GBWC 2015 Qualifier Winner Interview #6
Today we spoke to Heng Wang, winner of Fanime’s contest with the best in show entry!
How did you first get into Gunpla? How long have you been building?
I used to snap together SDs and old HGs when I was a kid, but I started it with the full paint/detailing serious modeling in 2013, the people at Tatsu Hobby were a big help to me starting out. Coming to modern HGUC/MG 2.0 after a decade of not making Gundam was a huge shock! I couldn’t believe how user friendly everything is.
What was the inspiration for your entry? Could you tell us about your concept?
I am a big fan of this painter Yoshiyuki Takani, who is a very famous painter of model box art and sci-fi illustrator from the 70s and 80s. He made a great painting of a Zeon base in the desert and I really wanted to try and do a similar scene. He has a great expressive style and I wanted to try and do it justice.
What was the build process like? Did you use any unconventional materials or techniques?
Fairly standard painting and weathering techniques picked up from magazines and tutorials- the only thing unconventional maybe is I use a custom oil paint medium that I mix up for weathering- a weird concoction of various fine art oil painting mediums- it’s smelly but it works! That and I used some techniques that armor and aviation modelers like to use, like cast armor textures and pin washes.
What part of building (in general) do you enjoy the most?
I definitely like trying to recreate things mentioned briefly in sourcebooks and side materials, things like recreating MSV color schemes, using squad insignias from side stories and such. The One Year War and Universal Century has so much great background material to draw from for modeling!
What’s your favorite Gundam series? Favorite mobile suit?
Definitely the original Movie trilogy or Zeta. As for favorite mobile suit? It changes always, but any of the Z/ZZ era Zeon style stuff like Marasai, Doven Wolf, etc, is great.
You can see more photos of Heng’s entry here.

COMPLETED MS-09G Dwadge
Wow, what a build! First time trying this much remodeling, completely redid the skirts, shoulder armors, and backpack. Used lots of parts from a HG RX-78 to hash out the shapes I needed for the build and went through lots of Tamiya putty. Making the fuel tanks and the leg bulges was pretty maddening making sure everything was even. I think I am addicted to Kazuhisa Kondo/Makoto Kobayashi style MS proportions now!
The camo netting is from a line of modeling goods I am working on developing, please look for it soon! The monoeye jewel is from HiQ parts and the mesh exhausts is fine brass screen. This older HGUC shows its age, but is still a great build.
Thanks for looking! Is anyone going to be at FanimeCon? Would love to meet some builders out there in person!
