Machine Teen. One of those obscure Marvel characters I didn’t know about but is always loved enough by someone to want a commission of them.

Curse of Brimstone reminds me of Swamp Thing, both in tone and story elements. Especially the horror elements from Swamp Thing comics. In the recent annual they meet to fight a common for and Swamp Thing comments they are both elementals but Brimstone is corrupted.
Do you know why Comicsgate claimed To like Damage? I haven’t read it yet so I have no clue
Simply because it was a hulk-knockoff that looked like he walked out of the 90′s but was white. They wanted him to outsell Totally Awesome Hulk/Incredible Hulk to show diversity doesn’t sell and failed. Also, they claimed a guy whose backstory involved shady government experiments and is chased by the army wasn’t political.
Thanks for the info! I had hoped that the movie was made because of interest in the comic but I guess it didn't generate enough. It's too bad it will remain unfinished, especially since the ending seems like it was already planned.
Firebreather: A brief rant
Does anyone know what happened with this comic? It seemed to be popular one day and the next day disappeared.
Just for some background, I began reading this comic a while after it first came out, probably later into its 2nd volume. Each volume was essentially a standalone mini-series, but with hints of a bigger story.
Based on my understanding it seemed to be fairly popular. I met the artist and writer once at NYCC, I think at the height of its popularity, just before the 3rd volume came out. I remember they both were very enthusiastic about the series.
Cartoon Network even made a TV movie based off of it. It wasn’t great, but it wasn’t bad either. But still, this proves it must have been popular, at least somewhat.
The comic series itself had a lot going for it.
The story was great and engaging with a good cast of likable characters.
It had a good amount of comedic moments,
Endearing moments as well,
And action scenes.
It also had one of the strangest and rather confusing romances in comics.
(This was a joke in the movie).
Simultaneously with the TV movie, the 3rd volume, Holmgang was being released.
Issue 1
Issue 2
A big cliffhanger, which had been hinted at previously through volume 2.
And the nothing, just a quiet cancellation. Even after a google search, there is very little news about this series. The only information I could find was on the Midtown Comics website, listing vol 3 #3 as “cancelled”.
There has been no other acknowledgement that it was cancelled, which is kind of sad. It was a very fun series and its too bad this series just disappeared with little fanfare.
I don't think anon's assessment of Sam and using the Tony Stark quote applies to Sam.
In his first ongoing, his helmet was broken for a while and he was forced to travel around trying to fix it. He didn't have any powers during this arc and went through the phase of feeling worthless without it. He cons some aliens into believing he still has powers until the Hulk can beat them up. The reason why it broke in the first place was because inverted Hulk (Kluh) was attacking where he lived and he was the only one around to keep everyone safe. That's not cocky; that's his big hero moment.
Also he has proven his ingenuity while fighting Carnage. During Axis, Carnage learned Sam is Nova and later tried to kill him. He ends up tricking Carnage into thinking he is not really Nova by having his mom wear the helmet. Only after the distraction and confusing Carnage he wins. Even in the Champions run, he's the one to resolve the trademark problem. He may have started out as a "cocky" boy but he definitely grew out of it.
These are just some very brief examples. The point is during both stories he sometimes had to go without his powers and still won. It just seems he's going through the same motions again. Rider lost his powers several times too and eventually it gets repetitive. I'm still reading Champions, but Sam should be Nova again.
I know a lot of people are creating a lot o drama about Sam losing his powers and stuff, but I really like what you are doing with the character, Sam has always been... how can I say this, "cocky" boy, and this storyline is really fleshing him out a lot. It's just like Tony Stark once said: "If you're nothing without this suit, then you shouldn't have it" let's see if Sam deserve his suit back.
Thanks! I only post a few of the dozens of messages I’ve received from Sam Alexander-centered readers, and it’s nice to know that there are so many interested in where he goes from here.
All I can say is to keep reading. By Champions #4 (arriving in April), you’ll get a clearer sense of where things may be headed with Sam.
I routinely walk by these adjacent plant stores in Chelsea (NYC). These 3 cats live here and I love watching them. They guard/watech over the stores, ostensibly eating mice and bugs.
The bottom one is not angry. It was just looking down so I had to crouch to get a pic of its face.
Not sure of Sefton is still trapped after the Nightcrawler solo series from a few years back. To be honest, I don't know much about Kale; I've only read a few stores with her. Maybe Clea?
…Dude.
Runaways #15, we meet a being that is forced to serve as Nico’s Staff of One, literally called The One. He is forced to serve that way all of Nico’s line since he was trapped in this form by her ancestor until last Minoru dies or one lets him go. Nico actually considers the latter…but the guy couldn’t wait for FIVE SECONDS with his evil gloating.
Runaways #15 on sales now. I will talk more about it in a review video but in meanwhile, I recommend supporting this great series. Seriously, go buy it, what are you waiting for?
What bothers me is we haven't seen any other vampires that go after other animal themed characters. Only spider themed. No vulture hunters, no rhino hunters, no rat hunters, no puma hunters. I think it would be cool for Puma to go up against similar villains, since he was originally introduced as being bred for hunting.
As ridiculous as the symbiotes have gotten, they’re still far outclassed by the Magic Man Who Eats People With Spider-Powers in terms of “stupidly over-complicated modern-ish Spider-Man villains.”
