I FOUND THE TREE!
WE'RE BACK GOING TO ELONA! Maybe
Tumblr media
Screenshot taken in Sandswept Isles. They changed the leaf color it seems, but the model is the same. Usually we don't see the same tree model in completely different climates.
This supports the Istan theory!
GW2 Expansion 5 teaser
Okay, here me out...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This can't be a coincidence.
Not saying "we're going to pre-Searing Ascalon" or anything, after all the spot is already in-game technically, but the image choice had to be taking nostalgia into account.
EDIT: FOLLOW UP!
Tumblr media
If this is true...
Istan in GW1 is internally referred to as "Delta". Now while some regions' internal names changed between the games (e.g., Ascalon became "Regrown" internally for GW2), I believe Kryta (Valley) held the same internal name for both games. Half of Istan is left unexplored still, and there is a bog there - Lahtenda Bog.
However, it's also possible that this time Delta is referring to the region north of Kryta - which has an actual delta connected to Janthir Bay.

Reblogging because it's worth the read. While I don't fully agree with the SotO stuff, I do fully agree with IBS.
And this is why I firmly argue every time that Champions should be considered separate from the rest of Icebrood Saga. Even more so when you point out the entire reason Champions exists was because higher ups decided the devs should drop IBS and begin work on End of Dragons instead.
Let's reiterate: Champions exists solely because End of Dragons had to be made.
Without End of Dragons, the second half of IBS would have been as good as the first half, not condensed into Champions with first draft quality writing and repeated DRM after DRM format.
But I do want to put in a defense for Champions: the Dragon Response Mission format is not bad. In fact, I'd love for them to be renamed as Response Missions and for us to get more of them from across the game and in new stuff. I fully felt (and hoped) that the Scarlet's Minions Invade! stuff from LWS1 would return in the format of response missions (just 2-3 total) and so would Escape from Lion's Arch (if not merged into the BfLA meta instance). Similarly, I see several things that could have been a response mission in SotO (like the story instances Mabon's Fate or The World Spire). It would have been nice to get more than just two strikes and convergences for repeatable end-game instanced content.
The issue with response missions were both the writing, the same format used every time, and the back-to-back nature of the DRMs being the only real content to Champions. Just as EoD improved the strike format from IBS, I feel the response mission format could be improved rather than simply abandoned.
Alright, I’ve personally been wondering what other people’s opinions on this would be, so
*I know IBS isn’t a true expansion but it’s got its own mastery line so I’m counting it

As I said in another reblog... people are seriously tunnel visioning on that one bit about Guild Wars 3, and completely ignoring the rest of it that talks about NCWest's deficit, the shareholder's disgruntled view of the CEO and CSO, the six companies under NCWest being consolidated into ArenaNet, etc.
Honestly, I'm far more concerned about the suits pulling plugs on ANet as a whole just to cut costs before I am about whether or not GW2 will remain in active development with a GW3 in the works.
Guild wars 3???? Is that a real thing? Did I miss something? Aren't we not even close to done with 2 yet?

I feel people are too tunnel visioned on the comment of Guild Wars 3 that they're missing the entire remaining portion of that shareholder meeting in regards to ArenaNet and NCWest.
NCWest has been in deficit for 8 years now, and apparently(???) early last year NCWest consolidated its six US companies into ArenaNet. On top of that, NCSoft's Korean moneymaker, Thrones & Liberty, isn't doing nearly as well as they wanted. There's a lot of shareholders outcrying over the CEO/CSO of NCWest.
Guild Wars 3 is greenlit, with or without ArenaNet's consent for all we know, but this is basically a ploy to get money for the shareholders. There's no guarantee it'd work, and we know what happens when rich shareholders become slightly less richer - costs cut in the form of massive lay-offs, projects being canceled, and servers shutting down.
I am not one to doomsay in the community, but I read the original Korean article (via google translate) and all I see are red flags.
From game player me perspective and not inner investigative journalist me, though, GW3 is a mixed bag announcement - when it'll be announced - because I have 4 live games I "actively" play and 2 more I want to play but have no time for (I really only have time for 2 live games so I end up swapping between the 4 of which ones I'm active in every few months). Even disregarding all the time and money spent into GW2, I would not have the time to play GW3 alongside GW2 which is promised continued development - and I'm not of the opinion that ANet would cancel GW2 development just because they did for GW1. For two reasons - first, GW2 has been around much longer than GW1, and players put a lot more investment in it. Second, and perhaps more critically, Colin Johnson and other ANet vets have stated regret over not continuing GW1 development (as if they couldn't just return to it).
This goes double so if GW3 were to be a second MMO - though given ArenaNet's habit of chasing trends to innovate them, I do not expect an MMO, as the modern trend lean more towards Warframe-like or Genshin-like. I will definitely follow GW3's development, if it goes past pre-production, but I think ANet would be better off doing a non-live service game (hah! That's all they've done so any other game they launch will be too, no doubt). I know I'd be more invested in GW3 if it were something more akin to Dragon Age or Baldur's Gate in format.
Even though April Fools Day is upon us, it seems Guild Wars 3 is all but officially announced by Arenanet.
I doubt I will play it. I've played Star Wars Galaxies, City of Heroes, and Guild Wars 2. I don't want to start over in another MMO.
To all that are waiting for Guild Wars 3, enjoy. I hope you have a fantastic time.

There is dialogue in Amnytas about that.
Astral Ward Mage: I need to get back into my lab immediately. Astral Ward Mage: We were so close to tuning the dagger that Zommoros gave Isgarren. Rift Hunter Warrior: Oh, I know. I still remember how challenging it was to merge Lyhr when it first arrived. Astral Ward Mage: Alchemy... I've never heard him scream like that. Just holding it made him split. Astral Ward Mage: You know Zommoros, though. Could've done it just to mess with us.
So yeah... a mysterious dagger that caused Lyhr pain once he held it. Whoops?
Incidentally this isn't the first mysterious dagger that got mentioned then left open ended.
sooooooo are we ever gonna find out what isgarren used the mystic forge for
