And I think that’s beautiful.

Mandatory things you find in a proper Good Omens AU Fan Fic

Crowley being mesmerized by Aziraphale at first sight.

Absence or lack of communication that leads to crisis before a sappy resolution.

They are in love with each other and they both think the other can't be in love with them.

Shifting POVs to remind us that they both are idiots.

Aziraphale having problems with his appearance (for lack of self-confidence or induced by others) and Crowley managing to reassure Aziraphale for said insecurities.

Crowley inner thoughts being the funniest thing you'll ever read in your life.

The origin of the "Angel" nickname.

Wine, lots of wine.

Ngk. Ngk is always there - Neil and Terry's fault, because it's from the book, obviously.

Azi's manicured hands. Again, if you haven't read the book, I think you should.

Crowley's limbs or hips not being attached to his body when he walks.

Whatever their AU job is, you always have Crowley in love with plants and Aziraphale living for his books. The bookshop is a constant. The plants are always yelled at.

Aziraphale moaning while eating. That is a must have. Also, Crowley is never a great eater, but he loves coffee.

Crowley being or acting like a slut (that's not mandatory, sometimes he's just gorgeous).

A supportive friend on both side (Anathema, Muriel, Maggie, Nina, Tracy...).

Anathema and Newt always being a couple - which is great, because it shows how NOT tossic this fandom is, we all want the canon couples to be happy canon couples.

Gabriel being a dick (former lover, actual lover, older brother, villain...).

Good Omens brain rot is apparently a family disease.

Having recently finished Demonology & the Tri-Phasic Model of Trauma (utterly delightful)… I started reading FACTORY SETTINGS yesterday morning—it was so good that I started over, reading aloud to my eldest. We’re obsessed. Between yesterday midmorning and sometime around 2am, we made it to chapter 36. Today we started again around 11am and three hours later have just wrapped up chapter 50. Kid’s in a half-hour appointment, which gives me time to drink some hot water and do a little pbbbing and brrring to relax my voice before the final ten chapters.

I’m absolutely heartbroken that this is published anonymously. It’s fucking brilliant. The writer deserves joy and hot cocoa and 6,000 years of love and affection from whoever their person or persons are.

I am hijacking this post to tell everyone my #1 life hack that I realized earlier this year is not commonly used. When you meet people and save their contact information into your phone (I assume you are all doing this part, yes?)—

Use the section for notes. Use it. You can write down the names of their family members or to remember details about their life that don’t fit cleanly into other fields on the contact form (like what their hobbies are). Note when and where you met someone and who they were with, etc.

But my favorite thing to track is people’s favorite things. Kid’s coach mentions their favorite type of cookie during an icebreaker? Perfect, now I know what my kid is giving as a holiday gift. Teacher explains to students that she prefers dry erase markers in her favorite color? Even if you’re getting something else, at least I now I know what color gift bag to use. Looking for an excuse to get together with someone? Easy—I know your three favorite films and I know that there’s a new movie coming out that’s been compared to two of them.

Hi Neil ! I just came from attending your conversation panel with Art Spiegelman and I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed it and how your words were very helpful to me. Especially when you were talking about books being doorways to comforting places you can escape to if the real world becomes intolerable. This is how I view many of your books, especially Good Omens as I was thinking of Aziraphale's bookshop. I think it may be Butter Pecan. I tend to order Butter Pecan when faced with many many flavours of ice-cream, and sometimes I am made incredibly happy, and often as not I taste something that tastes vaguely chemical and disappointing. So it's the platonic ideal of Butter Pecan, and rarely the reality.

My kid peeked over the shoulder as I watched these GIFs—I was excited to find out about a new detail. Aziraphale’s season 1 gesture was so charming, and Bildad!Crowley’s version so comical… But I hadn’t noticed the connection before. Kiddo points out: “Crowley didn’t learn how to stretch his hands from Aziraphale. Aziraphale learned how to stretch his hands from Bildad, because Bildad came before, right?” And I—

David Tennant did some “timey-wimey” nonsense to take credit for Michael Sheen’s acting choices. Is it stealing if Michael Sheen enjoyed every second of it?
