I mean. I don't care either way about this person. BUT. It wasn't actually declared a historic building. They bought it and then owning it, decided to do something else with it. People do that ALL the time. This whole let's hate everything Pratt does has gotten out of hand. Like, if you do that for everything when he DOES actually do something to be called out for, you've lost all credit because of this kind of stuff.

I think what a lot of liberal zionists who think they can change the politics of Israel while maintaining its existence are missing is that Israel cannot exist in any other way than as a military asset of the United States to destabilize the region

You make some solid points. Yes. I completely agree that Taylor gets to write about her life. She gets to share her heartache. In the same way that Joe had ever right not to want to share any of his life with the world. Which feels to me what was the ultimate fracture in their relationship. She wanted to be more open, understandably, he didn't understandably (maybe due to anxiety/depression, maybe not), but what this album shows is that no one person was to blame. She needed something he wasn't capable or wanted to give, which shows that he was also messed up. Relationships end. It happens.
Did he deserve being crucified for a year over it? No, absolutely not. Could she have said something about it? Maybe, but honestly, it wouldn't have made a difference to the toxic fandom beehive mind, so she didn't because maybe she herself was still healing and processing and needed to move forward.
Now she has said her peace and is living her best life, and Joe has continued to ignore toxic fandom and not give them a second thought and is living his best life.
I say good for them both.
One opinion that I will never get behind or respect is that this whole album is a witch hunt about Joe Alwyn and that Taylor purposefully promoted it so swifties would hate/send death threats to Joe.
Joe doesn’t deserve hate or any of the shit toxic swifties have pulled but the idea that Joe is this perfect angel who doesn’t deserve to have a break up song written about him is weird. It also exposes those who have an unhealthy para-social relationship with him. A lot of people talk about how swifties put Taylor on a high pedestal, which they do but you’re doing the exact same thing with Joe.
Taylor has always written songs about her relationships. I don’t understand why so many people expect her not to do it when it comes to Joe, just because he’s a celebrity too.

break up era robron is so good bc aaron went to that hospital in december 2017 to tell robert he couldn't lose him but robert told him the exact opposite so aaron in true aaron fashion told robert where to go and said he was the one letting go only to proceed to fall even more in love with robert while dating another man. oof

HENRY + looking at Alex
When have I ever, since the first instant I touched you, pretended to be anything less than in love with you?

Palestinians were still suffering and dying by the thousands long before October 2023 so it makes absolutely no sense for you to bend over backwards to defend bigoted behavior towards us under the excuse that it “happened years ago” - Palestinians didn’t start suffering once you personally became aware of it. What xyz did and said in 2021, 2018, 2014, 2009, 2008, etc. still is bigoted and genocidal. Supporting Palestinian suffering is not excusable after a certain date, assholes.

Is it just me or the songs on The Tortured Poets Department sound the same? It's like they all blend together at some point....at first listen there is not one song stuck in my head. And this is coming from someone who genuinely enjoys her music ...Red is one of my faves. You could swap the songs from Midnights and TTPD and I wouldn't be able to tell. I think she should start working with a new producer. Although I stopped being a fan since the breakup, I was still looking forward to new music .... I was excited for what new sound she would explore but it was disappointing to hear the same old repetitive Jack Antonoff synth pop genre.
She probably needs a break .... all this hyper production in the past few years with so many albums and their multiple versions must have had an impact on her creativity and quality...also a lot of lyrics are just......eh I don't know the right words, but she can do better for an artist of her magnitude and caliber.
Also, I feel like the aesthetic for the album does not match the music...like the dark academia/old books thing doesn't really go with the songs for me. Again, they sound a lot like something from Midnights due to the production so probably that's why I feel like that.
Another thing, the album seems to be mostly about the 1975 dude, but the marketing pointed to Joe Alwyn which led to him being harassed by her fans and she did nothing. That was horrible of her. It's these kinds of things that led me to leave that fandom. Even Ariana put out a statement when she released her new album.
Overall, I expected a better album from her. She really needs to take a break. The overexposure and overproduction are not looking good.

The way our fandom terrorises this man simply because he’s Taylor’s ex is reprehensible. He’s the one who actually has a moral backbone and is brave enough to take a stance on Palestine (all while being sent death threats from Swifties).
