This was my submission for the #EnterTheWorldOfHansZimmer​ contest in 2020.

To compliment Hans Zimmer’s film score Inception Time - Orchestra Version, I have created a mixed media animation expressing the profound longing of the characters from the film Inception.

The illustrated characters, portrayed in an animatic style, represent the characters Dominick (Dom) Cobb and Mallorie (Mal) Cobb travelling through Dom’s dream world. Dom is longing to prevent the pre-determined destiny of Mal, and Mal is longing to escape Dom in order to meet her destiny. In his dream, Dom is reliving his loss and regrets and is in an everlasting race to save Mal, only to be met by the inevitable fate of reality.

This video is titled “LEAP” because Mal’s leap is the inevitable fate in Dom’s dream.

Consona is a home AI system with an allied smartphone app which tracks and analyses a user’s scheduled lifestyle and generates suitable recommendations to restore balance between factors of work and life.

The app allows users to customize a set of work and life factors - such as family, friends, work, fitness, etc. Users can then choose how they want to be spending their free time by allocating each of these factors a goal, e.g. wanting to see friends 2 times a week. This is information is visualized in the form of a pie graph to easily communicate with the users.

The app then creates suggestions based off the user’s personal goals, so that these recommendations appeal to them and encourage them to do something that will help them reach their goal to achieve their required balance.

Geo locators, motion sensors around rooms in the home, and body scanning is used to predict the user’s actions. Pop-ups within the app later double-check that the acquired activity assumptions are correct with the user before adding it to the calendar.

Circle of Lights - Product Design Project

The Circle of Lights is a series of light beam structures that enclose a circular area. Each light presents a different colour of the rainbow, and users interact with it through reaching their hands out in front of each light to trigger them on through the sensors. The Circle of Lights provides an immersive experience where users get to take control of the coloured lights surrounding them through freestyle hand and arm motions.

The Barnacle is a sensing device which utilises developing nanophotonic technology. A network of units are placed in high-risk bushfire areas where they constantly monitor the air for smoke. This provides early warning for appropriate emergency response by firefighters and the general public. The network of units also allows for a prediction of bushfire trajectory.
