This is my six pointed diamond star for week 18 of the #fussycuttingsewalong hosted by @naomialicec . I did most of this whilst waiting for the kids at a trial at a local marshal arts class. This is the second class we've tried. Trying to find a good fit for activity and trainer for #ASD #ADHD kids is hard work 😓. To those mums out there despairing over the after school activity burn out, running kids all over to all the different classes. Last night we made chunky crayons as a #winddowntimebeforebed . A bit of #finemotorskills cutting up old broken crayons into chunks and putting them into a silicone tray to reheat in the oven and melt into nice chunky blocks. I don't remember the last time we drew with crayons, so I will probably donate them to a local preschool (after I've got tired of looking at all the pretty colours 😜). Pumpkin got distracted and wandered off way before I did 😂. 12! To celebrate we went to @legolandwindsor . All I can say is thank goodness for headphones 🎧. It was soooooo loud. All the sound effects and music 🎶were a bit much, after half an hour I was wishing I'd brought MY head phones 😂. We did escape into their #sensoryroom , which was a life saver, but also incredibly loud 😳😬? All I can think is that after you've worked at Lego land for a while you get hearing loss and don't notice the noise or sound levels 😂😜🤔. We had a great time. #autismawareness . So I admit It, I used to think ALL autistic people liked spinning objects 😂. I thought that because when my eldest was small, and I was worried about his "different" behaviour, I read up on #autism and all the literature I read, seemed to imply that you could recognise an autistic child by their interest in spinning things 😂 😂. 🤔um no. As I have learnt in my journey as a parent to two VERY DIFFERENT children with autism, if you have met one person with autism, you have met one person with autism. You may understand THAT person quite well but realistically everyone is different, like all human beings. They have similarities, but they are all so different. With their own interests, likes, and dislikes their own style. They bring with them all they have experienced, all they have felt, all their hopes and dreams, all their fears. Very few have special "rain man" talents. A significant number are non-verbal and will need lifelong support, some will pass as "normal" and hold down jobs. All are sons and daughters, brothers and sisters. They are part of our human race. We are all hurtling through space together on our tiny planet. We are all spinning together.
