Hi! I'm Julia, an illustrator, concept artist and allround multimedia artist. I paint and draw whimsical, colourful stuff, mostly inspired by dreams and weird creatures. Welcome to my world of wonder!
Hi, Tumblr. It’s Tumblr. We’re working on some things that we want to share with you.
AI companies are acquiring content across the internet for a variety of purposes in all sorts of ways. There are currently very few regulations giving individuals control over how their content is used by AI platforms. Proposed regulations around the world, like the European Union’s AI Act, would give individuals more control over whether and how their content is utilized by this emerging technology. We support this right regardless of geographic location, so we’re releasing a toggle to opt out of sharing content from your public blogs with third parties, including AI platforms that use this content for model training. We’re also working with partners to ensure you have as much control as possible regarding what content is used.
Here are the important details:
We already discourage AI crawlers from gathering content from Tumblr and will continue to do so, save for those with which we partner.
We want to represent all of you on Tumblr and ensure that protections are in place for how your content is used. We are committed to making sure our partners respect those decisions.
To opt out of sharing your public blogs’ content with third parties, visit each of your public blogs’ blog settings via the web interface and toggle on the “Prevent third-party sharing” option.
For instructions on how to opt out using the latest version of the app, please visit this Help Center doc.
Please note: If you’ve already chosen to discourage search crawling of your blog in your settings, we’ve automatically enabled the “Prevent third-party sharing” option.
If you have concerns, please read through the Help Center doc linked above and contact us via Support if you still have questions.
Plus/sidenote, one of the (many) issues with opt-out on Artstation still stands with a site as "old" as Tumblr (Tumblr is 17 years old!). Some artists, with a large following, people who were loyal to the site for years, are no longer alive and therefore cannot choose to opt-out.
Uh so, anyone else keeping up with the news and concerned about Tumblr striking a deal with OpenAI and Midjourney (possibly opening for data scraping on the site? I mean it's all for the purpose of data gathering). Even if they "generously" added an opt-out option, opt-in should be the default on a site where people willingly share their work. If they cared about artists and content creators (the people who keeps the site alive and makes it what it is), that is.
Considering I know many besides myself who moved back here when the same things happened with Artstation and Twitter/X... 💀

Did a stream today at work, on using "emoji kitchen" and mix emojis together for inspiration. Will continue on them in another stream, but I'll probably just go with the "scary" version...
The beeeeeast! Or… is it? Had this painting laying around unfinished for ages not knowing what to do with it, so here’s a silly little animation, inspired by “Over the garden wall” 🍂🎃 (Idk why it’s so slow/not snappy on here but :)))
Ok so remember my jello skull painting? Recently I've been playing around making jello & candy skull PINS!
They're made out of wood and all hand painted, and there's a few more varieties in the making! Currently gluing the pin packside to them all and I'll be selling the first batch at a christmas market i Stockholm in december but I'm also working on a new webshop!
Stay tuned tunas!
Ihihihi my new sparkly business cards arrived!
The only difference from my "old" cards are that I added a touch of colour to the text + added my instagram handle/name on them!
Still printed on a sort of sparkly glitter paper (which is really hard to capture on film) so that the whitest parts of the rabbit really shimmers <33
So since Halloween is approaching... what should I be this year?
I wanna try something more challening this time! Here are some makeups from the past few halloweens!
Julia’s guide to drawing dragons. Start with squirmy doodles and try adding 2 or 4 legs, wings/no wings, different horns or fins and such on silhouettes. Then add more and more details like eyes and scales and poof there you go basic dragon.
Hosted a super simple character design basics stream at work today.
Paint a basic head shape (doesn't even have to have eyes/other facial features) and then try out different;
1. ear shapes
2. horns
3. hairstyles (and how to style them with ears/horns)
4. accessories
pick and mix your favourites and then tadaaa you can start building a bunch of different characters and personalities from the same base!
Some of the best things in life are spooky scary, pink & girly, or both 💖 Some might remember I started this sketch last halloween... but better done late than never 💖💀
You've heard of carrots, now prepare for carrats! 🥕🐁
Moråttor (morot + råttor) in Swedish, I'd like to imagine these long snouted critters are a thing from the medieval times
