Remember that not all spirits are interested in humans. Don't fall into the hubristic trap of thinking they exist just to serve and work with people; many spirits were here long before us, and many will be here long after we are gone. Reducing them to a catalog of magical pets and servants is genuinely blasphemous.

Cultural Appropriation in Witchcraft 🍂
This is a huge controversial topic and as a person with Native heritage i’d like to address the white sage topic
Smudging - is a ceremonial practice involving the burning of sacred herbs and calling upon those sacred herbs spirits. Its not something thats an open practice because it is religious to those native people. For Native people it was illegal to practice their religion in the U.S until 1978.
Smoke Cleansing - is the act of burning herbs or incense and passing objects through the smoke or using the smoke to cleanse you home with the properties of those herbs. Although smoke cleansing is something involved in many cultures, this is not exclusive to just one set of people
It is not offensive to burn white sage as long as you are not doing it the wrong way. Yes this was and still is considered a very sacred plant to Native people but no one owns right to a plant. That is as long as it wasnt grown on their land. California tribes most commonly use white sage or salvia apiana, which is native to the region. Its not wrong to use sage grown in California just please make sure that it is ethically sourced and not stolen from sacred land. You can even purchase seeds to grow in your own home and there are so many providers all over the world who grow and distribute their white sage properly

16 Ways to Connect with the Gods when you don't have an Altar
So I'm currently away from home for 10 days (pet/house sitting) and I don't have an altar space with me. I have my tarot deck and that's it. I decided to write this list incase it might help someone else who is away from home or is just in the pagan closet. Enjoy!
Read your Deity's myths or listen to people read myths on youtube
Sit outside and just think about them
Set your phone background to something that reminds you of them
Wear their colours or symbols
Make or listen to a playlist dedicated to your Deity/Deities
Do a digital offering on tumblr or another site
Just talk to them about your day
Write some poetry for them. Anything can be poetry, it doesn't have to be good
Scroll through their tags on social media
If you have coloured shoelaces wear their corresponding colours on your shoes!! (I can't believe i didn't think about this earlier)
Do your make up to honour them
Talk about them in a (dedicated witchy/pagan) discord server
Do something nice for someone. I know it's cheesy but it's cliche for a reason. For me it definitely makes me feel closer to my Gods
Draw/make art of them or one of their symbols
Youtube ambiance videos are great! If your Deity has an association with fire, water, birds, communal spaces or music there are heaps of videos on Youtube that you can play. Think coffee shop ambiance (communal space), waterfall/rain/water ambiance, nature/bird chirping ambiance, fire place ambiance, studying at the library ambiance, etc. endless possibilities
Draw their sigils/symbols on your face with skin care
I hope this helps!! Feel free to add any other tips. I tried to keep these relatively accessible for everyone.

This song always reminds me of Skadi and makes me want to run down a snowy hill and scream in joy.

Hail Skadi of the snow, of the mountains, of the bears.
I ask for your protection in these slippery times and the ability to make thoughtful decisions.
Hail Skadi, rider of the wintry wind.

There are people in the witchcraft and pagan communities that really need to come to terms with the fact that pagan isn't the universal term for everything that isn't Christian (or Jewish, or Islamic). Hinduism isn't pagan. Buddhism isn't pagan. Hoodoo isn't pagan. African traditional religions aren't pagan. Many regional folk practices aren't truly pagan. The list goes on. It's more of an insult than an identity for some of these groups.
