The story behind this blog is that after me (mod Leann) and my co-mod Archie finished watching Good Omens, we binged Masters of Sex and Broadchurch and got really hooked onto them. Then we saw this one post on tumblr going around about how great Alec Hardy and Bill Masters would be together, which we both agreed with. This spurred a series of looooong conversations just envisioning the pair together. These long conversations eventually evolved into the very first blog posts on this blog (and we still have more that we haven’t released yet!!)

At the same time, we were incredibly frustrated at the lack of content for this ship. Archie is already a famous fanartist for several other fandoms ( @avenoire​ ) while I’ve been trying to get back into writing fanfiction after having stopped for 3 yrs, so in around mid-August, we decided to make this blog to hopefully encourage some other people to make content on them as well. I coined the term ‘illogical husbands’ based off of ineffable husbands but using an adjective that would be more suited to the two, but never in my wildest dreams did I think it would actually come to be used by as many people using it now.

'm going to ask the question in a post, just to see if someone will answer me but...

Can someone explain what's the plot/story behind the "illogical husbands" ship, please? Because I saw fanart of it several time but I have NO IDEA what it is about...! ^^''

Hello there dear!Illogical husbands is the ship name for the crossover between Dr. Bill Masters (played by Michael Sheen from Masters of Sex) and DI Alec Hardy (played by David Tennant from Broadchurch). It’s pretty much a rarepair since it’s a crossover and the entire community runs on headcanons and (tons and tons of wishful thinking), so there isn’t really a ‘plot’ so to say. How their story goes is entirely up to you!

How about "First Christmas gift"? I bet both Alec and Bill suck at choosing a decent gift and they've never given a f**k before, but now they panic because they want to find the Perfect Gift for the other man (sorry for my English).

How about "snow" in general. Something like christmas jumper or christmas cookies would be fun, too.

This sounds lovely as well! And ofcourse, a Christmas themed event won’t be complete without actual Christmas-y items (Send in your suggestions for the next Illogical event around Christmas!)

Illogical Week (Day Five)

Prompt: Job Switch

Thank you everyone for supporting me during this event!

Bill sat on the edge of the bed, hands obediently knotted in his lap while he waited for his husband to retrieve his doctor's bag even if there wasn't anything he wanted more than just going to sleep; he didn't care for a shower or to change into something that didn't smell of damp concrete - he was too exhausted to care for either.

"Tilt your head up"

Bill obeyed, closing his eyes before Alec could snap at him again; he hated it when his husband was angry at him, it made the world seem a little wearier than it usually did "How bad does it look?"

"Bad enough" Alec answered in a dry voice "Keep still" he ordered as he prepared to inject a local anesthetic into his husband's brow "Will sting"

It did and Bill didn't think he was imagining Alec's subtle enjoyment of his pain - not that his husband wished him harm but Alec tended to be a little testy about any and all injuries he got on the job; reminding him that being a policeman came with certain risks usually only made his husband even madder "How many?" Bill asked when finally he felt the anesthesia starting to work, numbness spreading to half of his face.

"Three"

"Not too bad"

"And you're getting a tetanus shot"

"What?"

Before joining the GO fandom (which later on stemmed to me shipping Illogical Husbands) I haven’t written anything but academic papers for 4 years. It’s so refreshing to finally have a creative outlet again and for a ship that I so dearly love. One a personal note, I just wanted to say, and this might sound a little cheesy but this was really fun and it seriously brought new life to me. It brought me out of my writing funk and helped me to start writing again And for someone who hasn't completed a single story in almost 2 years that's saying something.

Who knows if it will last but right now I'm riding the wave as I do my best to I write a full length fic. You don't know how incredible it feels to want to write and to actually be able to again. To be sitting somewhere and thinking up dialogue or watching a movie and remembering that you really gotta fix that one sentence so it doesn't throw off the whole paragraph. I've missed feeling this way.

I'm excited to be writing again and I'm writing again because of this ship and because of all of your support. So, thank you!

I wanted to do more for this the illogical week from @illogicalhusbands prompts, but I couldn’t make time for it, but I really, really wanted to write this. I’ll put this on my AO3 later on along with the probably other 4 days i missed xD.

“I can’t imagine having your job,” Alec had said almost out of nowhere during one of the rare breakfast moments Bill managed to force his spindly boyfriend into having.

“Why not? I thought we had agreed that in concept it’s a very similar situation,” Bill said, folding his newspaper. “We both need to be prepared for an emergency as we could get called at unexpected hours, we have to deal with people on a daily basis, late shifts-”

“Yes-no but, I mean- I don’t think I could bare telling an expecting mother their baby-” Alec pursed his lips, stuttering for a moment before he found the right words to continue. “It’s hard enough as it is on my side, I wouldn’t want to have to experience it from the very beginning like you do.”

Bill sighed painfully. He knew what had prompted this, he just wondered why it had taken Alec this long to comment about it. A few days ago, Bill was called in the middle of the night to perform an emergency c-section to an unfortunate miscarriage. Alec had been the one to drive him to the hospital, arriving just before the ambulance had.
