My tarot deck is so important to me. It's the one thing that never fails to keep me grounded in my spirituality, and after neglecting them, I give them a deep cleansing and I apologize. I asked them what I needed to keep in mind, and doing the reading felt like taking comfort in a close friend.
Maybe everyone's different, but if I'm in a place where any witchcraft is difficult, it's easiest to just take my cards, ask a simple, but personal question, and tell myself firmly that I'm going to be given the cards that I need. I don't focus on anything during these readings when I'm shuffling them and picking them out, I just try to stay calm and trust myself even if I feel like I'm just doing it at random.
The question I usually ask is simply "what do I need to keep in mind?"
And when I asked them that today, I pulled five of swords, three of pentacles reversed, and The High Priestess reversed. I'm glad that I did.

Scrolled all the way back just to update on this. This spell jar (as well as a jar that I created on Yule) was made for prosperity, obviously, for this year, as it'll be my first year as a sortve adult. I've had a really rough life I won't get into, and just graduated high school. I was really worried about what I'd be doing and how I'd be financially, and then out of nowhere some not so distant relatives of mine invited me to stay with them, work for them, and they even offered to help me get a job at a hospital, my license, and a car.
Been more out of practice recently than I'd like to admit, but I do genuinely feel like my efforts have paid off. I don't exactly want to brag, though I suppose I should feel proud of myself. To anyone else who has or ends up using this spell jar, from the bottom of my soul I hope that it works for you as well as it has for me, even if it does take a few months.
Prosperity Jar
First, I'm cleansing the jar with honeysuckle incense so that it'll be more receptive towards the energies the other ingredients are bringing in (honeysuckle brings luck and wealth, so it's fitting). This is a pretty specific incense though, so just keep in mind that patchouli or any incense with cleansing properties would work as well.
Then I add in:
Orange for good luck and money
Bergamot for money and general prosperity
Nutmeg for luck, to encourage favorable decisions, and money
Cinnamon for luck, money, and success
Basil for money, luck, and prosperity
I used essential oils for orange and bergamot, essential oils are the best working substitutions in my opinion just because it's the oil version of the ingredient. Same thing different element y'know?
Once I put my ingredients into the jar, I stuck the incense stick that was still going into it to let it burn all the way to charge the spell before I sealed it.
Tumblr media
Check out my cool blanket I have in my broken window to try and keep the cold air out. It doesn't work well for that, but it does make a nice background for pictures :)
Anyway, once the incense had burned down all the way, I took some green string and wrapped it around the lid and then poured green and white wax over it to seal it.
Tumblr media
Here's the final product! I also carved a sigil for money into the wax as well. Times have been rough lately, so hopefully this helps me through it, and if anyone else decides to try it out, I hope it helps you too!

Flowers: Toxic
You will find that there are many common varieties of flowers (or any plant for that matter,) that are poisonous, toxic, or venomous. There are a few relatively safe ways to still use them (without touch or consumption) in your craft if you so wish.
There are plants that can cause organs to stop functioning, including your lungs, kidneys, and heart. This is why it is so important to research properly, and understand how to safely handle it if desired. Do not leave these within the reach of pets or children.
Do NOT ingest these flowers or consume them in any way. This includes burning them for smoke cleansing. In fact, please don’t put anything on or in your body without research, identification, and consulting a medical professional about it first.
Consumption Alternatives:
Contained Vessels:
After properly drying these plants, you can use these plants in sealed sachets and bottle spells, or leave them hanging in a safe place to have a consistent and fluid stream of their energies. Please handle with gloves.
Growing:
If you possess a pet or small child, this is probably not the suggestion for you. Many practitioners use dried foliage because it preserves better and is flammable if desired. However, having a growing and alive plant around also can attract the intentions you desire if done strategically with intent. Please handle with gloves.
Baneful Magic:
Applying the aforementioned methods I’ve laid out, you can sometimes use toxic plants in these forms to do Baneful Magic. Any positive attribute a flower can bring can also be used to revoke or withdraw it, alongside the already toxic energy. Please handle with gloves.
Toxic Flower Magical Properties:
Bluebell:
Prosperity, honesty, contentment, dignity, prosperity, honor, gratitude, wealth, great fortune, humility, thankfulness, and blessings. Toxic.
Columbine:
Romance, intelligence, courage, veneration, experience, compassion, admiration, valor, reverence, love, adoration, and knowledge. Toxic.
Crocus:
Love, visions, cheerfulness, rebirth, innocence, divination, blissfulness, romance, transformation, beginnings, happiness, and simplicity. Toxic.
Cuckoo Flower:
Fertility, romance, persistence, sensuality, conception, love, perseverance, lust, fecundity, tenacity, endurance, and fruitfulness. Toxic.
Daffodil:
Positivity, prosperity, fertility, love, restoration, vitality, good luck, romance, abundance, hopefulness, healing, fortune, and revitalization. Toxic.
Periwinkle:
Romance, concentration, prosperity, knowledge, composure, warding, dexterity, focus, sensuality, abundance, lustfulness, and love. Toxic.
Tulip:
Prosperity, defense, adoration, romance, bounty, potential, protection, abundance, affluence, luxury, opportunity, and good fortune. Toxic.

"Finally, note that a divine preoccupation with reciprocity is in line with another aspect of the Greek conceptualisation of the divine world. Greek gods showed a very special interest in reciprocal relationships among mortals, such as the dealings between parents and children, between guests and hosts, or towards suppliants. The functioning of reciprocity, or alternatively, transgressions of proper conduct in especially these types of relationships were often evaluated by means of religious terminology, such as the antonymic pairs δσιος—ανόσιος and ευσεβής—άσεβης. Desirable religious behaviour, or 'piety' often meant 'acting in an ethically right way towards other humans': to please the gods, humans must especially honour special reciprocal relationships among themselves."

Shinto 101
Hello! As someone who grew up with Shinto (along with Buddhism and Catholicism) and also currently a miko at my local shrine (of the Konkokyo branch) I figured I would like to give a basic intro to Shinto most online sources (Even books) are misinformed about or lack, or misunderstood in a Western setting. Any other Shintoists/Konkos/etc. that would like to contribute to this guide, please feel free and reblog to your heart’s content! :)
Tumblr media
—— What is Shinto? Am I allowed to join? Are non-Japanese people who worship native Japanese gods (*kami) still considered Shinto?  Shinto is not really a religion, but a system of Japanese pagan worship of the local nature/worldly deities. Basically just a system to honour the spirits of Japan and the world. People built shrines for these spirits/gods (called kami) and left offerings for blessings. Eventually, shamans began to communicate with the kami and learned more about them, and are recognized as the current kami of today.  Presently, Shinto is majority traditional than spiritual in Japan. Many people only go to shrines out of tradition (Festivals/Matsuri, New Years, Weddings, etc) , an excursion, or a “good luck wish” place (Asking to pass an exam, asking for a baby, etc). Many people, even the priests or mikos at some shrines, aren’t even sure the god of that shrine really exists. But that’s not the point. The point is just to continue on tradition and go by feeling and energies of that place. Indeed, shrines are also good for the soul to visit.
Tumblr media
However many spiritual people inside and outside of Japan still exist. These are shamans and people who can hear and feel the gods and act as their caretakers  and devotees.  YOU ARE ALLOWED TO BE SHINTO! ANYONE IS! :) Even if you don’t have a drop of Japanese blood in you or you’ve never even been to Japan!!!!
Tumblr media
(Rev. Koichi Barrish, of Tsubaki America Jinja and  visitors) I cannot stress this enough!!!!! Many materials on Shinto are ruined by the Western understanding of Shinto from World War II era, namely Kokka Shinto. This Shinto was Japanese propaganda to exclude foreigners. PLEASE understand, this is not true Shinto Shinto is simply the worship/reverement and appreciation of nature and/or the kami of Japan and giving them an altar/shrine and (optional) offerings. Even if you just feel close to a kami and adore them, or just feel the vibrations of nature and adore nature, you are already (or can be considered) a Shintoist! It’s as simple as that :) Many people are Shinto without realizing it.
Tumblr media
Are only men allowed to be priests? What are miko?  Men and women are allowed to be priests/priestess. They can also get married and have children! Their role is to command the rituals and maintenance of the shrine. It gets a little more complicated though.
Tumblr media
Every shrine has a head priest. Their role is to set service dates, give special services, process requests and paperwork, prepare offerings, and overall caretake for the kami and shrine. Then, there’s associate priests who assist with these duties, and also with administrative work, such as treasurer or secretary. Sometimes in smaller shrines, these are left to a certain group of trusted laypeople to work as volunteers.  After that, there’s the miko (me!). In olden days, these were women who ranked higher than the priest and could channel the gods and either be possessed (kamigakari) by, or be the mediator between god and man and deliver oracles.
Tumblr media
I do those things now; but many miko do not. The role of a miko in modern times is simply to help clean up the inside/outside of the shrine, help serve naorai lunch and tea (lunch made from offerings), perform Kagura/Kibimai/Miko Mai sacred shrine dance offering (what I do), or sometimes even play the instruments in dance like koto or flute. (what my friends do). They also watch over omamori and ofuda that are for sale, or assist with events.
Tumblr media
Also, as a side note, one thing Western writers write that bothers me: Virginial miko. Mikos are NOT required to be virgins, and never have. Ame-no-Uzume is the patron deity of all miko, as her dance is the origin of Kagura among other things. Ame-no-Uzume is also the goddess of revelry and sensuality, including sex. Sex is seen as a divine act and also enables one’s spiritual senses to heighten. A miko that has to be a virgin doesn’t make sense. In the end, it doesn’t matter! Mikos were virgins, some weren’t. In fact some are even married with children. (There’s no age limit either) What matters is their heart is devoted to the kami of their shrine, and has sincere intentions to caretake for that kami.  How many kami are there? What exactly is a kami? Why are there shrines to kami?  There is an infinite number of kami, for every little thing in the world, even man-made things. Even including yourself and your body, you are a part of kami.  Some kami are more powerful in nature (have more energy) than other kami, simply because they are more ancient, a spirit of a powerful physical thing (like Amaterasu and the sun) or they receive a lot of devotion and prayer (and thus, strength and support).
Tumblr media
A kami is not necessarily a god/deity, though commonly kami = god/deity. However, kami also can mean the spirit of a thing, or the energy surrounding a place, like the kami of a tree, is a spirit of a tree, and the kami of the sun, is the goddess of the sun Amaterasu. Kami is a complex word, but in essence the best way to understand it is the context in which it’s referred to.  “The kami of the tree seems happy” - the spirit of the tree is happy “The kami of the sun is shining brightly” - the goddess of the sun is shining brightly “Kami are everywhere” - the gods/spirits are everywhere
Tumblr media
Now, there’s titles to add onto the word “kami” - O-Kami, means “Great God” usually reserved for only powerful gods like Amaterasu-Omikami (greatest goddess) or Sarutahiko-no-Okami (Great god Sarutahiko). There’s also Kami-sama, which can either refer to a general deity, or, in my case, to Tenchi Kane no Kami, the deity that is the spirit of the universe itself. Thus, this Kami encompasses all the other kami as part of it. So it’s Kami-sama! We have shrines for kami not because they really “enshrine” in the sense the kami is cooped up in their shrine and cannot leave lol. But they act as “power spots”. In the sense the kami’s essence is felt very powerful at shrines. And/or, the kami’s spirit can travel or be split to reside in the area of these shrines. Essentially, shrines are like wi-fi hotspots, the place where you’ll feel the most connection to the kami enshrined there. Home shrines/altars work the same way. The kami’s presence will be there. Usually this is done through the power of ofuda (tablets which contain the kami’s essence or have the kami’s name which draws them towards it)
Tumblr media
(torii - that big red gate, acts as a symbol to a more spiritual area) Do ofuda/omamori or other shrine paraphernalia really “expire”? This is a bit controversial, so bear with me, and it’s a little secret information from a miko. They do not lose their power with time. However, they are good to keep buying to support the shrine.  The reason however shrines say to burn and renew them each year is not for only donations. Over time, the power does not lessen, but grows more powerful. If the owner is a layperson than does not know how to purify or bless, this ofuda/omamori can absorb other energies, and often can become a Tsukumogami (a youkai/spirit of an object) and loses the essence of the kami you want to worship. Therefore, you should only keep using an old ofuda/omamori if you yearly purify/bless it with the essence of it’s original kami. (I will explain in another post) If not, please just buy new ones! ;w;
Tumblr media
How do I begin practicing Shinto or worshipping a kami? What do I need to do? Any special ritual? Do I need to go to a shrine? Alll you need to do is feel connected to a kami, and you practice Shinto. There is no special ritual like Baptism or Buddhist vows,  (well, there’s a variation, but its absolutely not a requirement). And you do not even need to a visit a shrine in your life to be Shinto. All you need to do really is go outside and appreciate the beauty of nature. Not even that, just appreciate all you have in your home and all of your blessings. Focus on the good and positive, realize the nature of the universe, and that is practicing Shinto.  If you want to get more into it, please build or set up an altar (there are home shrines called Kamidana you can buy, but they are not necessary) And use an ofuda to attract the essence of the kami. Or even just a paper with their name, or their image. At the altar, you can leave offerings or not, but common offerings are rice, salt, water, and sake. You can leave whatever you like though, as long as you offer it with sincerity (I will go more into it on a future post)
Tumblr media
Shrines are scarce outside of Japan, but there are a surprising number. The famous one in America is Tsubaki Jinja in Washington. Let me list a few
Tsubaki Jinja, in Granite Falls, Washington
Ki-no-Mori Jinja, in Salt Spring Island, British Columbia, Canada
Shrine to Amaterasu-Omikami on Shambhala mountain center in remote Northen Colorado
Small Inari shrine in Brooklyn Botanic Garden, New York (the National Shinto association is in New York as well)
There are also a handful of shrines in Hawaii! Taken from wiki ”
Daijingu Temple of Hawaii
Hawaii Ishizuchi Jinja
Hawaii Kotohira Jinsha - Hawaii Dazaifu Tenmangu
Hilo Daijingu
Izumo Taishakyo Mission of Hawaii
Māʻalaea Ebisu Jinsha
Maui Jinsha Mission”
There are also many Konko shrines/churches (the branch I belong) all across North America, you will find a complete list here (Spans from East to West coast, across US, Canada, Hawaii, Brazil, and Korea) www.konkofaith.org* *Note of respect: While Konkokyo has origins in and worship style of Shinto, which may be good for you in terms of spirit and comfort, it is also it’s own religion. If you visit a Konko building, please be respectful and do not assert it’s a Shinto shrine! Please have an open heart and mind :)  If you live in Europe, there’s a hokora (shrine foundation/worship hall) in the Netherlands, in Amsterdam. Konkokyo also has yearly London gatherings/services.
Tumblr media
Hopefully this guide could help you be acquainted with Shintoism outside of Japan! If you have more questions, please feel free to ask me! There are also many great Shintoists already here on tumblr you can ask :)

I feel terrible for only getting through one but I need to finally suck it up and stop just ghosting this app. To the people who requested tarot readings, I'm extremely sorry but I don't think I can do it. I've been dealing with a lot of mental health issues and they often reflect in my divination and I don't want to do that to y'all. I hope you understand, again I'm sincerely sorry.

Talk about whatever grinding your gears these days, about witchcraft of course
I've burned a lot of my gear grinding in previous asks (which is great, because I love to complain) but I've got one for ya, anon! From the depths of my personal "I gotta rant about this later" archive, have this: I can't get over the hypocrisy of warning beginners not to do baneful magic but encouraging them to cast targeted love spells.
PLEASE REMEMBER THAT ALL OF THE FOLLOWING ARE MY PERSONAL FEELINGS ON THE SUBJECT. You're welcome to feel differently, but hey, you came to my blog to see my opinion.
Okay, so, some context for this before I go on:
I'm aromantic and asexual. I don't experience romantic or sexual attraction (other people may experience one but not the other, I just don't get either).
I'm pro-baneful magic, because sometimes the consequences of someone else's actions are that they get jackslapped with magic.
I use "targeted love spells" to mean spells meant to make a specific person or type of person fall in love with the caster.
You see it in all kinds of witch books that didn't rip the Wicca out enough - baneful magic is bad (and often called black magic, which uhhhh YIKES) and you should focus on bringing positivity into your life. Which isn't inherently a bad stance! I just happen to be full of rage and have found that the only way to get things to change is to hit them with a stick.
But then these same books turn right around and give you 1 to 5 spells to make someone specific fall in love with the caster, which I have a problem with. Because I'm aro-ace, I see love spells like these to be baneful magic.
If baneful magic can be defined as "[any] spell, ritual, or technique that is used in a way that is harmful—mentally, physically, emotionally or spiritually—to the subject of the [magic]" (Llewellyn Encyclopedia, online) or "to cause harm to another through magical means, or to interfere with another's free will" (Wicca: For the Rest of Us, online), then these targeted love spells are baneful magic. They interfere with another's free will (making the target fall in love with the caster) and can often be damaging (in an emotional or even spiritual manner). Especially if the target is already dating or married to someone else.
It doesn't have to be labeled as a curse to harm folks is what I'm getting at.
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this rant, anon! Feel free to send another ask and share your feelings.
~Jasper

Ough, I have not only overestimated my energy, but also my phone's battery it seems. I got through one of the tarot readings, and I was wanting to get through them all but I forgot how time consuming analyzing cards is. I hope you guys forgive me for pushing them off a bit, but I would hate myself if I half assed a reading for anyone, free or not.

Hi!! Can I have a reading into what I can look forward to in my love life next? Thank you so much ! - AJ.♑💓
Ps. I'm single!! (I do have my eye on someone/talking to someone but we haven't been on any dates yet)
Tumblr media
I will do my best to give you my interpretation, however, I will always advise that you look and see if these cards mean anything to you specifically, and keep them in mind as you have your next relationship as you may come to realize what they truly mean.
That being said, here's what I gather from this.
Page of Cups reversed: Not a very fortunate card to have in a reading like this. Don't take it as fact, but take it as a caution sign and a sign to try and better yourself before jumping into a relationship or to be wary that who you are looking to get into a relationship with may have issues involving emotional maturity, vulnerability, and insecurity. It might apply to you, your future partner, or something that develops in the relationship.
Three of Swords: I'm going to be blunt here love, this is not something I'd like to see in any relationship reading. And trust me, I've seen it in readings like that for myself. This is a card representing grief, hurt, and heartbreak. It may warn you of someone who's potentially abusive or maybe even of finding yourself to be a toxic partner. However, I think it might also mean that you and this person are going to help each other through emotional release or through sorrow before being able to have a thriving relationship.
The Lovers: Whether good or bad, you can be sure to look forward to a lot of passion and meaningful connection. This card represents pure, unadulterated vulnerability and honesty with a partner. And reflecting on the page of cups reversed when considering this, leads me to believe that that specific part is what you need to focus on the most. To avoid turbulence, you must be 100% yourself and 100% sure your partner is doing the same, otherwise it just won't work out.
Five of pentacles reversed: This card represents an end to difficult times. The person in the picture was searching for help and finally entered the chapel. It's a good omen that as long as you're diligent, you'll be able to make things work and not toxic. If you feel as though you're unfulfilled, this card implores you to really analyze your situation, and to focus on what you do have and if what you don't have it's truly more important than that.
King of Swords: I think the king here is the archetype you'll be looking forward to embodying after growing emotionally. He represents clarity, insightfulness, authority, and respect, being able to see the truth and make decisions mindfully. Or maybe, this archetype represents the person you're going after. Either way, keep him in mind when you're facing troubles, and channel him when trying to solve them.
All in all, this reading was mostly very linear. I hope that even if you didn't hear what you wanted, you heard what you needed. I hope that this reading was accurate and that it'll help you in your endeavors. Have a good night love, and I'd appreciate any feedback you have.

So You’ve Fled Worse Websites For This One And Wish To Make A Hellsite A Hellhome
Just a friendly reminder that on this godforsaken website you can and should do the following few things that involve going into your settings:
1: Under Dashboard, disable Best Stuff First, Include Stuff In Your Orbit and Based On Your Likes. The former ruins the how the timeline works here, the middle violates the sanctity of anonymity if people you follow don’t want you to see their likes, the latter is a crapshoot and annoying and inaccurate because the likes algorithm is fucked.
2: Under Account, turn off letting people finding your blog through your email address, your email should not be just out there like that.
3: Under Notifications, turn off news because nobody knows what the hell is popular or gaining traction at any given moment. Posts from 6 years ago will randomly gain a resurgence of popularity for no good reason. Also just turn off the stuff that gives you immediate info about notes or updates or notices it’s just so fucking annoying and useless.
Under Appearance, you can choose to make who you follow private and what you’ve Liked private. I recommend doing both of those things. The old days of dumbass slapfights and following discourse are long gone but not yet over. Defend your mental health by just not letting folks know what you’re following or what you like, do what the Bird Site never ever let you do. From here you can also choose to turn anonymous asks off and that’s a good way to learn who you need to block if they’re being a shit to you, which to that I say block early and block often.
This website is different than the Bird Site in that 1: it will not tell you who to follow and 2: Likes do nothing, Reblogs are what matters. Likes are nice but Reblogs keep the blood pumping and posts/works by artists circulating. You can even choose to reblog your own stuff. This site is a massive sea of islands that have boats parked around them and bridges between them. There are, regrettably, Nazis and TERFs and tradcaths on this site. I have never seen them except for when they decide to pick fights with people I follow. You should also make it abundantly clear those people are not welcome to interact with you. You can threaten them with death here. It tends to work. Tell the fascists to die, recirculate the blood of content, treat this site well and keep it healthy and it will keep your mind healthy in turn.
This site allows a shocking amount of anonymity in the modern age. You don’t have to share personal information if you don’t want to. I don’t recommend you do. People can and have used DNI criteria and trigger/content warnings to dunk on people or upset them. Keep yourself and your data safe, you don’t have to have a carrd in your header or a list of kinks or a laundry list of things you believe in. Keep strangers at an arm’s length and moderate what you tell other people about yourself. I know this used to be the internet’s #1 naked picture dump and so many people courted parasocial relationships with folks here. Those times have changed. Don’t be weird and don’t let people be weird to you based on what they know about you.
By many standards on this website, I am an old-timer, even though I’ve been here steadily since 2015 with an initial reg date of 2013. I know the old stories, of the Oncelor, of Dashcon, the Kickstarter scams, the doxxing. I only qualify as an old-timer due to the fact that I stayed through the porn ban of 2018 and kept circulating content. This site…it’s not good, but it is what you make of it. Curate your content, even though the tagging system doesn’t work. Find what you like, even though the search function sucks ass. If you’re here for popularity you generally won’t find it because the algorithm straight up does not work, but also if you were forged in the fires of the Bird Site you likely knew this would not be the case. My advice is to find a handful of people who provide a feed like I do and if any specific names you see a lot interest you, skim their own blogs, follow them if you like, let your network spread, never be afraid to prune who you follow. Also your follower count doesn’t mean shit, it doesn’t really dictate who can see what you’re putting out there, your marketing and self-promotion is more or less tied 1:1 to using the tag system and your own hustle.
My other advice is to be as queer as you want, support queer people, and most importantly to tell the fascists to die as creatively as you’d like.
