In this au, each of the Asian countries are first to third generation immigrants to the US that live within the same general community (China and Japan are step brothers, however). Because they all faced many hardships and struggles with each other, like being treated differently and in some cases, negatively, they ended up becoming closer as friends to the point that they view each other as family.
