Thinking about Maya. I think it’s interesting how she seems to age regress when her trauma buttons are pushed. She cries for her father and has a breakdown when she sees the flames when King Leo blows up the city. I wonder if her father died saving her from a fire.

Tatsuya’s brother is offhandedly mentioned to hate arsonists, and it’s clear Eikichi, Lisa, Tatsuya and Maya have suppressed memories of each other. And also Joker. Whenever he shows up. I suspect I know who he is already. Don’t know his name though. Also, they mention dreaming a lot about Alaya Shrine (though that COULD just be Philemon’s influence because of his presence there in Persona 1), and there’s multiple depictions in the OP of it being set on fire.

Basically I think her dad died saving her from Alaya being set on fire.

But yeah Maya’s age regression moments struck me and made me want to know more about her. She’s an interesting character, to be sure.

So, I can’t feel empathy. I can’t feel cognitive empathy, we know that much is affected by my autism.

But I also struggle with affective empathy. Unless someone’s experiences are really close to my own, I feel nothing for them when they experience something negative. I also don’t feel anything when a friend is celebrating something good that happened to them. I also am not bothered by injustice when it doesn’t affect me (doesn’t mean I don’t help, I know helping is what I “should” do)

Can this be affected by autism as well?

I don’t understand why people put empathy on a pedestal. You don’t need empathy to be a good person. I’ve seen it myself.

Also why are so many of those who idolize empathy so condescending? Isn’t empathy meant to be humanizing others? And yet when someone shows compassion to those who can’t feel empathy, they show an inhumanity within themselves. They’re frogs in the well.
