Unconditional
The morning of the Spring High Preliminaries final match you found yourself completely bewildered, agitated and anxious.
You could not think straight. Your thoughts raced from one thing to another, and then made one more lap around. The same happened to your morning routine—clothes went missing, then appeared all over the room, you just couldn't find the right clothes.
What was bothering you?
Right. The team and their battle with the boss - Shiratorizawa.
Will Karasuno boys overcome the intimidation of their Ace - Ushijima.
More important, you were bothered with Tsukishima. What is he going to do? Will he have enough motivation and stamina for such an opponent, as the great part of the game will be focused on blocking Ushiwaka?
He surely did pretty good progress during the summer camp. All happened thanks to Kuroo, Bokuto, Akashi (bless the 3d gym boys) and, his closest friend - Yamaguchi, who finally shared some really meaningful thoughts with Tsukki and moved him in the right direction.
Nevertheless, will he find something to fight for, something to fight till the very end?
"Come on, Y/n! He is going to do just fine! He is a ridiculously tall guy, who doesn't like to lose!", you reassured yourself by slamming your cheeks, something you instantly regretted, as an enormous wave of pain washed over your face.
"Honey, you are going to miss the game, you desperately didn't want to miss", your mother slightly reminded you about the time.
"Crap! Yeah! I'm coming", with that you put something on and went like a silver lightning straight out of your room, hitting against all the doorways on your way.
"I love you, honey! Wish Tsukishima-kun good luck from me", mom smiled at your antics, and you could swear you saw her grinning.
"What? W-w-why him? Hi is not going to play alone, you know", you stuttered a bit, shocked by a sudden affection of your mother towards your classmate, trying to tie shoelaces.
"I thought you liked him. Well. I guess I was wrong. Such a shame, he is very nice".
"It looks like you like him more than me", you giggled shyly.
"There is nothing wrong in liking your friends, Y/n. I think he has his eyes on you, too".
"I do like him, but I don't think that's the case with him. He just likes to tease the heck out of me", you wished it wasn't the case.
"These young people… ", she sighed dramatically, – "Some great love stories in your beloved fanfics begin exactly in such circumstances".
"Mom, I love you to the moon and back, but you should probably stop reading so much fan fiction. And stop borrowing my laptop for that!".
"Ow! Come on, sunshine! Let your mother enjoy her afterwork time".
"As you wish. I have to go, love you", you kissed her and ran out of the house.
"Off you go. Now, where did I stop reading…".
The road to the gymnasium was like a hurricane, you were so hurrying, that you almost lost your shoe.
By the time you arrived, the match has already started. You entered and started to seek Hi-chan.
"Y/n, over here!", a petite ball of sunshine and worries waved at you with a smile on her face.
"I thought you were gonna miss him playing", you heard a familiar voice from behind.
"Akiteru-san! You came too. I thought he was dead serious to not let you come".
"Oh, he did. I just couldn't … well, you know", he put his hand at the back of his neck.
"I am sure, he appreciates it…well, in his own way. He is just being stubborn and grumpy, and annoyingly salty", you bit your lips, trying not to fall into love hate mode.
"I am happy, he has you and your support", he smiled and grabbed you by the shoulder and then abruptly took his hand off, like it was the fire, that burned it.
"Ow, little Tsukki is jelly", Saeko whispered to Yachi, who went red-ripe, and winked at Akiteru, who was really scared of being in his little brother's disfavor more than usually.
"So, how are they doing? Did I miss something big?", you just didn't notice that little, yet important interaction.
"Well, they are fighting. But this Ushiwaka guy is just brutal", Shimada commented with a concern in his voice.
"They are gonna make it! They've earned it!", you gritted your teeth and continued to watch the game.
You tried to observe the whole court, but your gaze fell every single time on him, so damn focused on everything in every moment of time.
"Sometimes I envy his ability to concentrate and keep on analyzing, even it is a critical moment", you whispered to yourself and clenched your fists. Not because you wanted to be like him, but because you were worried about him. Has he already figured out the way to stop Ushiwaka?
"And I envy you infinite faith in him. Maybe you should tell him this after the game", Akiteru answered in lowered voice.
"He doesn't believe in himself, so I've decided to do it for him, although he has such a person long before me. Tadashi is the best, but you already know it".
"It is a bit different sort of support, Y/n…", he started to speak.
That was the moment when the complete court went silent for a minute.
That was the moment when you finally saw Kei, at last, finding his motivation and courage to accept something he was denying from the beginning—his passive, yet genuine interest in volleyball.
"It's not just one block, it's not just a club, you idiot", you were blabbering, trying to maintain the last pieces of your sanity and not burst into happy crying. The court exploded with shouts and exultation from seeing Tsukishima Kei blocking the mighty Ushijima.
"He did it! He did it!", Tsukki's brother was overwhelmed with pride, brother's love and pure joy.
It was the moment of revelation for him and for you. For him—to realize his volleyball passion, and for you—to realize, that your feelings were far beyond of just liking him.
You caught him looking at you. He grinned and pronounced silently one word, still observing your frowned, yet dreadfully happy face.
"D-u-m-m-y".
"You… giant brat! You made it!", shouting at the top of your lungs, you smiled wholeheartedly at him.
His expression changed instantly, as he was taken aback with your sincere, unconditional support. You even saw the tips of his ears going red, but he, being a "human android", collected himself, as the team had a long way to go.
The game progressed very intense. Both teams were playing like there was no tomorrow. And it was, at least for the third years, for whom it was the last opportunity to go to the nationals. So, they fought and didn't want to think about giving up, even for a brief moment.
Tsukki continued to get on Shiratorizawa's nerves. And it worked pretty smooth, till the game was paused, and you saw blood on his hands.
"He got injured", you breathed out your concern, digging your nails deep into your skin.
"What?", Akiteru looked confused at you.
"Aki, you need to go to the infirmary with him", you pushed him to the exit.
Your face got completely pale, and you started to silently panic, when a familiar voice took you out of your trance.
"He's gonna be fine, Y/n. They would freak out if something serious has happened", Saeko reassured you with a bright smile.
It helped. To a certain point.
The next few moments, which seemed endless, you stared blankly at the court, briefly catching the current situation.
"It's not a life and death situation, you can breathe now", the older Tsukishima hurried to calm you down.
"He will eat himself up, if he's not going to make it back", you mumbled, biting your lips.
"Oh, don't worry. They are gonna let him play. Look. Here he is. I have never seen him in such a hurry to play volleyball", Akiteru looked calm, ant it made you relax a bit more.
Tsukishima looked like he had a plan, he even gave some instructions on blocking. It seemed to work out exactly as he planned, as he repeatedly made an onechi situation.
Eventually, through struggle and persistence, Karasuno made to snatch their victory. And it was a glorious moment for them, and inspiring for all their support squad.
"Ya-chan, we are going to nationals! We are going to nationals!", you hugged Yachi, and Saeko followed, hugging you both, wildly screaming and laughing.
The ceremony got out all of your emotions, as you cheered for the team, along all the people, who came to support Karasuno.
The team came closer to stand in order to thank all the supporters. You met Kei's gaze and grinned like a Cheshire cat.
"N-a-t-i-o-n-a-l-s", you spelled out one words to him, but he frowned at you, and then looked at his brother.
"Y-y-y/n, your hands!", Yachi stuttered, looking at you.
Being intoxicated by the joy, you didn't even notice or feel, that your palms were bleeding, as the nails got too deep into your skin.
"Infirmary. Now. He is going to kill me", Aki gave an order, lowering the voice on the last part of the sentence.
You tried to understand what was going on, but Akiteru didn't gave you time for that. He grabbed you by the shoulder and pulled to the infirmary.
"Ow, looks like Tsukki has a life crisis right now", Saeko pointed out the worried expression on Kei's face.
Several bandages later, you got your wounds treated, thanked the doctor and went to the door.
You pushed the door with your back and almost lost your balance, because someone opened it at the same time.
"What are you doing?", Tsukki caught you and gave a stern look.
"Trying not to break something, because someone tried to kill me".
He didn't retort, just kept observing you and stopped at your bandaged hands.
"What's this? What did you do to your hands?".
"I didn't do anything. Just overreacted a bit".
"Why? What could possibly move you so strong, that you would hurt yourself".
He wasn't prepared for what happened next.
You covered your eyes with hands and started to blabber something.
"I was just so happy for you. You have finally loosened yourself. You let yourself feel the moment, you let yourself just feel".
His eyes widened, but he didn't stop you.
"I know you don't need my support, but I don't care. You hear me?! I will be your number one fan. Ok, maybe not the number one, Tadashi will probably kill me. But! I will always believe in you, even if you don't see how freaking awesome you are. And you are just an idiot, if you think, that your existence is pointless, or something as stupid as this", you sobbed, and the tears started to fell down your rosy cheeks.
"Could you stop?", his voice sounded gentle, as he put his palm on top of your head.
"Why should I? These are my feelings, my thoughts. And you never hear me out, when I try to encourage you. I bet you were angry with yourself after the match. You were probably reading a lecture to yourself for being lame or something like that. You idiot, Kei!".
His eyes widened, as he remembered what he was doing before the reward ceremony. A moment later, his hazel eyes softened, and his hand slid from your head to the corner of your eye. He tried to gently wipe the tears away.
"You are such a crybaby, Y/n", he whispered, stroking carefully the upper part of your cheek.
You both got stuck in this tender moment, looking into each other's eyes, sharing the intimacy, you avoided before.
You leaned into his touch and closed your eyes.
"Do you want to… ", he broke the silence, but couldn't continue, as he understood you were being observed.
"T-t-tsukishima, w-what did you do to Y/n", Hinata stuttered, trying to decide whether he needs to defend you, or get away and not disturb.
"Tsukishima, you jerk, did you pinch Y/n's cheeks? What did he do, Y/n?!", Tanaka shouted, rolling up the sleeves.
"Guys, I think we should leave them alone", Asahi shyly suggested.
"Nice move, Tsukishima! I was worried you are not gonna to confess!", Suga gave him hi five.
"Here we go… ", Tsukki sighed, and took you by the wrist and softly pulled towards the exit, —"Don't stop".
"Hey, Tsukishima, I swear if you hurt Y/n… "…

"What's wrong with him today, Tadashi?", you asked with a concerned look in your eyes, observing your boyfriend fiercely packing his backpack.
"Emm… I think he is just a bit annoyed with Nishinoya-san and Tanaka-san. That's all", you can see he is not telling the truth, and it probably involves you, in one way or another, because he is trying so hard to avoid eye contact.
"Are you sure? I have never seen him being so angry".
"Well, you know Noya-san, he can be a bit intimidating", he nervously giggles, rubbing the back of his neck.
"Yu intimidating?", you quirk an eyebrow.
"Yamaguchi, you forgot this", Tsukishima holds something to Yamaguchi.
"Sorry, Tsukki".
"Never mind, let's just head home", he grabs your hand, a bit too harsh, not like every other day, and it starts to bother you.
"Hey, have you already listened to the playlist I shared?", you want to distract him from those bothering emotions.
"Yeah".
"Well, that is informative. Okay. Did you like something?".
"Yeah. Could you stop interrogating me?", Yamaguchi blinks and looks like he would rather be in hell than in this very moment, watching the incoming crisis.
"Ow, wow. That is the Tsukishima I love. Yes, sure, I can shut up, if that's what you want", you sound a bit offended, but still not to the point to make a mountain out of a molehill.
"Hey, guys, do you want to go to watch some movie tomorrow after school?", Yamaguchi is really trying to save the day.
Sadly, it is already late.
"Why are you always doing that?", Kei asks you with an annoyed voice, and he doesn't even want to make it not sounding hostile.
"Doing what?", you stop walking, trying to read him, as you have no damn idea of what is going on.
"That love declaration thing. Why do you need to say it every time?".
"Tsukki! It is not Y/n's fault. You are just being angry about Noya-san's words", Yamaguchi is absolutely smitten by Tsukishima's reaction.
"Huh?! If his words mean something to me", he surely is upset with what the heck Noya told him, – "No one must answer to a confession every time it is being made. What if I just don't want to. These are my feelings, and it is up to me when and how I do it. Am I not right?".
"Tsukki!!", Yamaguchi looked at you in pure shock.
Tsukishima turned his gaze to you, just to find you entirely dumbfounded by the blast of thoughts.
"Why?", you manage to speak.
"Because it is true", he sounds a bit more cautious and delicate this time.
"No. Why didn't you tell me that me saying I love you bothers you so much?", it is frustrating.
It is not like you've expected from him to tell these three simple, yet so damaging words every time you told him you loved him. These are just your feelings, and it made you happy to be able to share them with him. Is it a crime feeling what you feel and wanting to share it? You didn't even think, that it will shake him to the core of his heart.
"You know…", you started careful, trying to pick the right words, – "not a single time I waited from you to return these words. I am sorry if I made you feel uncomfortable. You could at least speak to me. I can listen and understand words. I am not some crazy stalker. Likewise, I do not follow you wherever you go. I do have my life, my interests, my friends. You are not the center of my universe. Well, at least, for now". It became harder to elaborate your words, as the idea of being too much sank into your mind.
"I didn't say you are a stalker".
"Yeah. You have just said that my feelings are too heavy for you, that is all. You know, I should probably go and reconsider my behavior. If you have some rules or ideas, maybe you need to star vocalizing them, because I would never know if you don't talk to me", you were not exactly devastated, nor disappointed. That's why you didn't share a tear throughout the conversation. Just sad.
"Y/n", he tried to grab you by the hand, but it became a blurry slow motion, as you walked past him and your silhouette dissolved in the shadows of the evening streets.
"Tsukki…", Yamaguchi sighed at the sight of his best friend, probably, losing the person he cherished the most, despite his conflicting state of mind.
"Yeah. I know. I messed it up", he looked at the streetlamp with a sad look in his eyes.
"No, you did not. But you really need to talk it out and make it work. Unless you want to break up, then…".
"What?! No. I don't want this to happen. Why would you even think about it?", he frowned at his friend, and Yamaguchi lighted up with the brightest smile.
"Then you already have your answer", he was happy to see his friend be aware of his own feelings towards you.
Frustration ate you out, and you started questioning even the smallest things.
To what extent can love be too much? How do you lessen the affection, but no to the point of total apathy? How should you even approach him now?
He was doing the same thing—trying to figure out his own boundaries and negotiate with his, sometimes too analytical, mind.
Days passed and nether of you dared to make the first step.
Tsukishima went to your rooftop place every day on lunch break, but you weren't there. Then he decided to observe you from distance, making snarky comments on whoever made you smile even a tiny bit. That made him feel uncomfortable, and he reprimanded himself internally. It went spiraling. And you… you just didn't want to invade his space. What a brilliant idea? Right?
It went on till one day you were nowhere to be found.
It annoyed him…a lot.
He had some time before the training, so he sat on the porch near the gym, and started to type messages over and over, then delete them and start all over again. From an angry one to a silly one. He did even search the net for some ridiculous memes, you would surely like.
"Hey, Stingyshima!", someone's voice took him out of his thoughts.
It was Hinata.
"Is Y/n coming today? I forgot to return notes… like a week ago".
"I don't know".
"Uuuuuu", Tanaka jumped in with a shady smile, – "Looks like there are troubles in paradise. And I told you that you should tell Y/n the L words!".
"Yeah. Are you now a specialist or something, Tanaka-san?".
"What did you say, little brat?!", he was ready to jump at Tsukishima, when they heard Yachi speaking.
"I think something happened to Y/n-san", she started with trembling voice, – "We had self study class today. And Y/n-san started to silently cry".
"What does silently cry means?", red haired boy was puzzled.
"Well. There were no emotions, just tears, I guess. Does it make sense, Hinata-kun?".
Tsukishima tensed up. It was completely out of your character. You would never cry in front of the class, moreover to the point of not understanding that you were actually crying. He reached his phone and send you a message.
"Yamaguchi, tell coach I have a headache and went to infirmary".
"Ah, sure, Tsukki", Tadashi understood immediately the intention of that.
Kei went straight to your classroom. Your bag was still there, but where were you? He searched every place you could possibly go. No result. He refused to panic. Not till he sees you, at least. It hit him stronger, than he thought, though. He opened the messenger and checked if you have read the message. You didn't.
"Oh, this is so mature of you leaving it on unread", he cursed to himself and wrote one more message.
Then he went to the rooftop and set beside the bench and waited. It became a habit to him – to put on his headphones when he needed to calm his mind. Even if there was no music. It just brought some calm and relaxed his always working mind. He closed his eyes and tried to think of a possible reason for your behavior.
"I am not 5, I am 7. Thank you", he heard your voice and opened eyes, not wanting to miss anything.
You were standing in front of him with a puffy face, adorably pinky nose and glistening eyes. You had disheveled hair, but it didn't make you look untidy. Quite the contrary. You looked so small and fragile, that he felt the urge to protect you, to shield you from every bad thought in your beautiful head.
He took his headphones off.
"Are you alright?", he simply asked, without any intention of being blunt or snarky.
You sat there on your knees in silence for a moment, thinking of any possible little lie, and then shook your head, as a little tear rolled down your cheek.
"No".
As simple as your answer was, he opened his giant warm arms and silently welcomed you.
You didn't hesitate. Carefully, you creeped into his arms, right to his chest, where you put your head.
He cradled you gently, as if he was afraid of breaking you. He put his jacket over you, just in case, if you'll feel chilly. How could you? When his presence was providing more than just warmth.
"Do you want to see something stupidly funny?", he took his phone in front of you and showed you Tanaka being knocked down by Noya's "Rolling Thunder".
"It is Ryu falling down".
"Yeah, that is, obviously, the funniest part".
"You are a dork, Kei", you smiled into his neck and he tightened his embrace, just enough to make you feel needed, significant and loved.
Just like that, you both shared the most tender moment of your youth, that will, definitely, stay in your memories for a long time.
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨ 💗 ✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
I have a bad habit to search through the internet without any reason, but sometimes this process brings me to the most mesmerizing art and music discoveries.
I found this art piece of James R. Eads and came up with this little story. He has some seriously captivating arts.
And there was one track, that completed the story. Charlie has so many amazing tracks and is completely underrated. Here is the track itself.

On fire
The end of the year came flash-like fast. It is probably because you had the best, so far, time of your life. As you spent it with the chaotic, yet mutually supportive, each in their own way, volleyball team. And it was very sad, that the prop of the team was leaving it – the third-years. And you were determined to make something for them – graduation gifts, that will remind of their happy school and club time.
You hardly made it in time.
As the graduation ceremony ended, the team headed to the gym, to make their own goodbye party – take photos, share memories and just goof around one more time.
"Aren't you coming?", you heard the slightly annoyed voice of your giant boyfriend.
"Of course I am, I just need to pick something from the clubroom. Go, they will wait for you. Don't you want to know who the next cap is? I'll come in a few", you smiled at him.
"Ennoshita-san".
"What's with him?".
"He will be the captain".
"Well, it is a wise choice. He surely has skills and patience to make you and Kageyama stop bickering... aaaand to hold the wild trio in leash", you laughed at the thought of it, – "Poor Chikara. You know, your smart ass could sometimes just keep your commentaries to yourself and not make Kageyama boiling".
"I don't say anything, that isn't true", he took your bag and walked after you.
"Yeah, yeah. Why you two can't just get along", you sighed and stopped by the stairs. — "Look, I pick the box and get to the gym, okay? Don't make that face", you gently caressed his cheek.
"I don't understand what you are talking about, you little annoying minx", he rolled his yes at you, trying to make the tender moment a bit longer though, but you, to his disappointment, removed your hands. He frowned.
"And you are a colossal titan, but I still adore you. Now off you go".
He sighed deeply at the thought of spending time with the pure chaos and participate in some lame rituals.
You rushed in the photography clubroom and found the box, that you left here in the morning.
"Why do I always end up overdoing things?", the box felt like you were carrying a huge boulder.
You ran down the stairs, trying so hard not to fall head over heels.
"Ok. Mission accomplished", you said to yourself as you reached the gym doors safely.
At that exact moment you tripped on the little porch and fell rolling like a snowball in the gym.
"Y/n!", you heard the screams of the boys and saw Yachi-san almost fainting.
"Are you alright? Dizzy? How many fingers I show?", Suga was sitting in front of you, seriously concerned about your condition.
"Sorry. I am alright. I just… ", you felt somebody lifting you cautiously from behind.
"You are going to break yourself something one day. You seriously need to watch your step", Kei was annoyed.
"Tsukishima, you should be more sensitive to your partner!", Tanaka declared with pride and winked at Shimizu-san.
"Yeah! That's the spirit of a man, Ryu! Take care of your special someone, Tsukishima!", Noya exclaimed.
"What do you know about it, Noya-san?", Kei snickered.
"Okay, okay, let's just get back to the real reason of us being here", Chikara stood between the two boys.
"Sorry, Kei, I just didn't want to miss anything", you whispered and squeezed Kei's hand.
The official part took place. Daichi named Ennoshita as the new captain, wished the team to have strength, will and to support each other on the court.
Suga fooled a bit around, while Asahi tried to cite his favorite book.
Shimizu-san wished all the best and gave a farewell gift to Yachi-san, now the first manager of the team, and asked you to not stop supporting the team and helping out Yachi-san with the boys.
"I will, don't worry, Shimizu-senpai".
Kei looked at you intense, but you were so caught in a moment, that didn't understand his hint. He sighed.
"Diachi-san, Y/n wanted to give you something as a gift for your graduation", and he pushed you gently forward.
"Ah! Right! God, I almost forget. Here", you opened a box and took out 4 photo albums for each senpai.
"A photo album?", Suga got curious.
"Well, yeah. I've done some research and found your photos from the first and second years in the club, some photos of you in general. Highlights, I could say. A bit of sketching and some wishes from the team at the end", you started calmly, but got a bit sobby by the end of your speech.
"Here we go", Kei rubbed the bridge of his nose.
"Uah, I didn't want to cry, I swear. It is just so sad. I would want to see how far you can go together, guys", you tried to calm your tears down.
"It's okay. Look, Asahi get emotional too!", Suga pointed out.
"No, I am not, Suga. It is just something in my eyes", Asahi smiled at you.
"Can I go out for a few minutes, to calm a bit?", you asked.
"Yes, sure! We'll enjoy our gifts while you take a break!", Suga was hyped about the album thing, – "Look Daichi, it is you, looking like a corpse! I didn't know Y/n took so many pictures of us. It is really amazing".
You smiled and went out to wash your puffy face and calm a bit.
"Tsukishima, you really don't like when Y/n is crying, don't you?", Chikara smiled at Kei.
"Why should I like it?", with that being said, he went to check you.
You were sitting on the edge of the stone and looking in the small mirror, when you spotted him.
"Don't say anything. I know I look ridiculous".
"I wanted to say that you look annoyingly adorable with that pinky nose of yours, but, if you insist, you do look funny", he pinched your cheek.
"You are the annoying one".
"Ouch. And they say I am the not sensitive one in this relationship. That hurts my feelings, Y/n", he sat in front of you and made a disappointed and sad face.
To your surprise, he touched your leg and start tracing it on the outside upwards.
"Kei?".
"Yes, Y/n?".
"What are you doing?", you felt tingles in your stomach.
"What does it look like?", he spoke calmly and with confidence, keep tracing with his fingers across your skin.
"Em… I wouldn't mind to make out with you, but I don't think it is the right place…", you mumbled as your face turned deep red.
"Oh, you see through me, Y/n. I am on fire. I am in desperate need of it", he was smirking at you.
And then…
He put a plaster on your leg, as you got cut, when you fell though the gym door with that enormous box.
"You did think I was going to kiss you, didn't you? You idiot, Y/n. Cute idiot, though. And clumsy…but cute", he gave you a small flick on the forehead, – "Come on, "I don't want to give them an opportunity to annoy the heck out of me".
He held you a hand, and you accepted it without retorts.
"I am not stupid, you know".
"Yeah, you are just a cookoo one", he smiled slightly, waiting for your reaction.
"And you are a giant smarts ass, but I love you. Does it make me a masochist?", you pouted, and then felt a grab on your shoulder.
"I guess, it makes two of us, you dorky little minx", he pulled you to his chest.
"Ow! Tsukki is a big softie, after all… ", you heard giggling voices, coming out of the gym.
"Dang it… ".

You
It was a huge surprise for everyone, especially for the volleyball team, that you and Tsukishima got pretty well along. However, it wasn't that much of a surprise for you.
You were in the same class. He sat behind you, what caused the first, in the beginning, forced interactions. You are a bit absent-minded, so, it was in order for you to forget an eraser or a pen, or even a book. He was practically forced to spare some for you. In a month, he was already holding a pen, or a pencil, before you even turned completely to face him and asked for it. To Yamaguchi's surprise, Tsuki did not mind it at all.
As the time passed, you bonded over music, and your ridiculous attempts to make him smile. You made every other day a rebus out of dinosaurs names, with some stupidly hilarious, as you thought, fact. Sometimes you misspelled some horribly long dinosaur name, but you put efforts into it and, by the end of the summer, knew the most known names by heart.
"Hey! Look what I got for you!", you smiled with the brightest smile, turning to him after the class ended.
"Ah, not again… could you just stop. This is exhausting", he started, frowning and, at the same time, holding his palm open for what you've got.
"This entertains you! You can't prove me wrong! I have spoken!", you put a small dinosaur printed paper in his hand, slightly touching his long pianist fingers, freezing for a moment, hypnotized by the gentle touch.
"Your fingers are just…wow, you know?", you blurted out, without even thinking. — "I wish I could have so delicate fingers".
"What is wrong with your fingers? Why are you even thinking of such stuff?", he spoke, not pulling his gaze from the rebus. — "You misspelled the…".
"No, I didn't", you were so proud of yourself. — "I did my homework, so, bask in my glory, you nerdy Dinodork!".
"You do understand, that it is an insult. I could probably report it, and you would get a detention", he smirked.
"Fine. Do it. I don't mind. But don't call me at midnight to share your new on repeat song, I won't answer", you pouted, —"And don't even expect me to bake you the most delicious strawberry shortcake for your birthday".
"Yeah, yeah. Come on. Daichi-san wanted you to help out today, since Yachi-san is absent", rolling his eyes at your antics, he took your bag and went through the door.
"You are one of a stingy guy", you mumbled, having no choice, but to follow him.
The next day, something was off. He felt absolutely dumbfounded, as you were quite, and, it seemed, upset with something.
The big break started, but you stayed still, unlike every other day, just looking out of the window
"Is something wrong with Y/n?", Yamaguchi was worried too.
"How could I know?".
"Well…".
"It was a rhetorical question, Yamaguchi".
"Sorry, Tsukki".
In the midst of the thought process, they saw some girl coming to you.
"Hey, Y/n. Could you share your notes? I am completely out today", she seemed to be friendly. — "Y/n! Hello! Earth is calling".
"Em… Yeah. Sorry. I was spacing out", you faintly smiled at her. — "Here".
The girl sat in front of you and started to copy your notes.
"Oh! Your notes are so neat, I envy", she giggled, then she stopped talking and took your hand, observing it for a minute, – "I don't understand why Yoshioka is bothering you about your fingers. Just look at them, they are so delicate and stunning. That is why you have so clean and cute handwriting. Don't mind her! She is just jealous or something".
That's it! That is what was bothering you for the past week, Tsukishima concluded. That is why you were talking about fingers in the first place.
"It is so lame", he thought to himself, "Your fingers are perfectly fine, you stupid", he mumbled.
"Did you say something, Tsuki?", Yamaguchi asked, chewing his launch.
"Nothing", Tsukishima answered and looked through the window, just to distract himself of sudden affection towards you.
Time passed, and it was already the end of the day.
"Y/n-san, could you help us out today too?", Yamaguchi asked you with a joy voice, as he was trying hard to cheer you up.
"I…", you wanted to say no.
"I'll even allow you to bandage my majestic fingers", Tsukishima teased you, still thinking it was stupid of you to overthink the opinion of some dumb person.
"I'll pass, your Majesty", you bit your lower lip and started to pack the bag.
He understood, that he went too far.
"Y/n. We need your help… Please", he regretted his teasing instantly.
"Fine, just could you stop picking on me, at least, for today".
"Yeah. As you wish".
With that being said, the three of you went to the gym. The whole way, Tsukishima side eyed you, thinking on the reason, why in the world, he was so patient and compliant with you.
"I'm gonna get changed", you took him out of his thinking process.
"Wh? Yeah, sure", he stumbled a bit.
Yamaguchi wanted so bad to point it out to his best friend, but spared him, chuckling to himself at how obvious his friend was.
The training was going smooth. If you could call smooth the constant bickering between Hinata and Kageyama. Tsukishima, on the other hand, was quite, unexpectedly. Not a single harsh comment towards the freaky duo or Noya.
During the pause, he asked you to help him to bandage his right hand. Politely. How could you say no.
You silently sat in front of him, took gently his hand and started to wrap his fingers with a plaster. He was observing your features and gestures.
"There is nothing wrong with your fingers", he spoke in a low tone.
"What?", you got back to your consciousness.
"Don't pretend you didn't hear", Tsukishima tried to sound blunt as usual.
"Um, thank you? Why are you bringing that up, all of a sudden?".
"I thought you didn't care about what people think. Don't disappoint me".
"Oh, wow. It is when I thought Tsukishima Kei can be compassionate. Thank you for bringing me back to reality", you furiously entangled his fingers with plaster. — "Dork!".
"Wha?! Y/n, what the heck?", he tried to catch you by the hand, but failed, as his fingers were deadly stuck.
You approached team captain with a frown on your face.
'Is everything alright, Y/n-san', Daichi asked with a concerned tone.
"Yeah, I feel a bit dizzy. Is it ok if I go home earlier?".
"Yes, sure. Do you need someone to walk you home?".
"No. No… I am not going to faint. Just a headache. Thank you for worrying", you bowed and went straight out of the gym.
It was the first call for the both of you. Someone needed to accept the growing feelings, before it would become a total mess.
You, somehow, with a helping hand of Yamaguchi, worked the plaster situation out, and, returned to your friendly-but-not-exactly-friendly relationship.
"So, what do you want for your birthday?", you asked on your way home, one week before his birthday.
"Nothing in particular. Why?".
"Hello! It'll be your birthday and I want to give you a present, that you will actually use".
"Who told you, that you will be invited?".
"I didn't say I want to invade your dinosaur lair", you hissed, pouting.
"Who said I want a gift from you?", he just couldn't stop, exploring your limits. He found it astonishingly adorable, the way you curled your lips, when you were angry. The way you furrowed the brows, trying to hold yourself and not to snap, seemed to him the most entertaining sight.
He was so in his thoughts, that he didn't notice you weren't following him. He turned to see you walking in the opposite direction.
"What are you doing?", he was forced to raise his voice.
"Why do you care? I am no one. Just keep going", you couldn't control your frustration and just gave up on trying.
"What's gotten into you?", Tsukishima was confused by the sudden change in your behavior.
"Why are you always like this? Why do you always need to be so…", you struggled with finding the appropriate word, that won't destroy your relationship completely.
"So what?".
"Never mind. If you don't want me as your friend, you can just say it. It will hurt, but no that much, as listening to your harsh comments now and then, when I feel insecure or just have a bad day. I'd better go. Don't want to tell something I will regret".
He watched your silhouette fading behind the trees.
"Who told you I want to be your friend in the first place", putting his headphones on, he walked home, cursing to himself for not being able to confess like every other guy would do.
You didn't speak to each other the whole week. Neither of you wanted even to start the conversation. Poor Yamaguchi was heartbroken to watch his friends burning the bridges.
"Tsuki, you need to do something".
"Why?".
"Because…", he took a deep breath, - "because you obviously like Y/n. So, stop ignoring it".
"Like I could do something. This tiny human being is irrationally stubborn", Tsukishima rubbed the bridge of his nose, like he had the most terrible headache.
"Well, at least, you admitted you like this stubborn tiny human being", Yamaguchi giggled, trying to console his friend.
Tsukishima got extremely lucky, as on his birthday he had an appointment and didn't go to school. He was content of not being jumped around by his teammates. The only thing he regretted were you.
He had a little birthday routine at home and went to bed, with headphones on, to read a new book. He checked his phone several times. Clicked his tongue in disappointment, that you didn't even bother to send a message. Then checked it one more time and put the book on the side table. He tried to take a nap, as nothing, even his favorite music, helped him to shake those annoying thoughts about you. He was about to beat the pillow up, when he heard the doorbell.
"Kei, could you come down for a moment, there is someone, who wants to see you", he heard his mother calling him.
His mind went blurry, and he couldn't calm down his pounding heart.
He went down and there were you.
Standing by the door, with an apologetic, a bit of sad expression, with a neatly wrapped box in your shaky hands.
A moment of silent awkwardness filled the room. He rubbed the back of his neck, not wanting to blurt out something, that will push you away even more.
"I just wanted to give you this", you couldn't bear the silence any longer, – "I bought it three months ago, so… you can throw it or sell it if you don't want it".
He observed the way you were fiddling with your perfectly fine fingers. At that very moment, he understood, that the feeling he felt, was mutual. You have never been close emotionally to any other than him, you shared some really private thoughts and worries, you accepted his antics and the most important, you made him feel happy, to the point he could be. This revelation put him at ease.
"I'm sorry".
"What?", you were taken aback by his statement.
"Stay", and he held his hand out.
You looked at him, still trying to process the new reality.
"I want my gift", he looked at you with curiosity.
"Ok", you almost squeaked.
"Pfft", he couldn't hold his laughter.
"Why are you laughing?", you wanted to punch him so badly, you came with a present, and he was laughing.
"Because you look annoyingly adorable", he took the box and turned to the stairs, – "Aren't you coming?".
"Why?".
"Don't you want to see my reaction, when I open your gift. I bet you spent hours picking out the wrap paper and days, trying to wrap it".
You bit the inner side of your cheek. He was damn right. You wanted so bad to see his reaction, and you deserved it. So, you took your boots off and went upstairs.
He followed, smiling.
You have already been in his room. This time everything felt a bit different, though.
You sat on the floor near the low table. He put the box on the table and started to unwrap it.
"Wait!", you screamed, deafening Tsukishima.
"What happened?", he was shocked, but not to the point of complaining.
"I have something", you took another box, much smaller than the one with the gift, – "I didn't feel like baking the whole strawberry shortcake. But then I felt guilty, because I promised it", you were talking too fast, but he adored it, every moment of it.
"Ouch. You broke the promise. It hurts", he even made a sad face.
"You are a dork, Kei", you blurted, not thinking, – "Oh, I am sorry, I shouldn't".
"It is fine. Just don't call me Tsukki. Please", he put his chin on the palm, looking straight into your eyes, – "So, what is in the tiny box from a tiny person?".
You stuck your tongue.
"It is a birthday cupcake. It is strawberry flavored and backed by me".
"Do you hate me that much?", he teased, and it was his turn to stick out the tongue.
"I don't hate you, you know it. It is quite the opposite", your cheeks flushed with an adorable shade of pink, "So, this is your cake with a birthday candle. We light it up, and you make a wish".
"Am I five?".
"No, you are 45, I would say. Grumpy and you certainly can't feel happiness from little things. Such a waste", you rolled your eyes at him.
"Now. Hurry up. The magic of birthday is going away with every minute you make that snarky little comments. Hurry, Kei-kun", you made your voice sound a bit cringy, yet very entertaining.
He wasn't particularly fond of candle blowing, but he didn't argue.
You were sitting in front of each other with the cupcake in the middle.
"I can wish whatever I want?", he asked.
"Yes. Anything".
"Even something selfish?".
"Well, yes, I suppose. What kind of question is that?", you quirked your eyebrow.
"Y/n, relax. I am just messing around", he smiled, and it was the sincerest one.
"Now. Shut up and wish something, that you want", you were eager to see his face, making a wish.
"You".

Love troubles
Rushing through the school corridors, you felt your heart sinking down, as you got closer to the sports gym. You didn't have time for that kind of emotions, not right now, at least. You pulled yourself together and pushed firmly the door.
"OH! Y/N-san!", the tallest and the cheeriest boy, greeted you with a Cheshire cat smile. — "You came to watch me practice. I knew it! You like me!", he just couldn't stay calm every time he met you.
"No, I am sorry, Lev. I'm, actually, really late for my art classes. I have exams soon, so I… It doesn't matter. Is Kenma here?", you missed the like part, though, and his face lightened up with delight.
"Yaku-san, did you hear it? Senpai is attracted to me".
"He's somewhere playing his PSP. I'm gonna kick his ass, if he comes late", you heard the voice, you wish, you'd avoid.
"Kuroo, you are late yourself", Yaku grimaced.
"Well, lucky me for being a captain, then".
"Crap. How should I reach out to him if he doesn't even read his messages", you bit the inside of your cheek.
"Is it that important? You can tell me, then. I'll see what can I do".
"I don't need your help", you almost hissed at Kuroo.
"Hey, hey. No need to be hostile. I was trying to help", he lifted his hands, trying to sound friendly.
You inhaled sharply.
"Look. When you see him, tell him, I won't be back in time to his stream. I promised him a collab, but the school happened…".
"It's not a big deal, then".
"It is for him. And he is my friend. You follow?", there was bitterness in your words. "So, just tell him. Would you? Thank you. I should hurry. Buy, everyone", you bowed and flashed out of the gym, not wanting to suffocate yourself with unnecessary emotions.
Just let it go…let it go…
You were about to head out, a hand grabbed you by the wrist.
"What was that?", he tried to read you.
You pulled out your hand, as if it was an acid on it.
"I am in a hurry. Could you stop holding me back?".
"I am just a bit worried about you".
"Oh, wow. You are worried. Were you worried about me, when you kissed me, and took it back the next day?".
"I …".
"Sorry. Just… I try to avoid THIS sort of interactions with you, as I should. But you can't stop to touch me on the raw. We can't have the same friendship, as we did, obviously. But, at least, we could minimize interaction. I don't want Kenma to feel awkward more than he already does. I don't want him to choose. You are his best friend and this need to survive. I would appreciate if you could keep a distance".
"Did you prepare it for days or something?", he tried to make you smile, but there was nothing than anger and sadness in your eyes.
"I should go. Just tell Kenma, that I won't be there today for him".
He stood there a couple of more minutes, gazing blankly through the sunlit windows, watching your silhouette disappearing behind the entrance gates.
"Idiot", he growled in a low tone.
"You surely are", a voice from behind, got him off guard. A rare case, as he was always the one to make people feel intimidated.
"So, what's going on between you two? You were good before the summer camp. What changed? Y/n is not the person to be hostile towards people…even the dorks like you", Yaku spoke teasing, yet genuinely concerned.
"It's nothing".
"Mhm. If this nothing interferes with the training…", he shared his concerns with team captain.
"It won't. You have nothing to worry about", Kuroo sharply cut Yaku's thought and walked back into the gym.
"Lev, use your lanky hands properly!", now Kuroo tasted the bitterness of his own decisions.
"And this is our wise captain…", Yaku sighed and followed the team leader.
The day was exhausting, both – emotionally and physically. The next week will be exams at the art school. And you need to pass them. No. You just have no other choice.
"I'm home", you took off your shoes and went straight to your room.
It seemed nobody was at home.
Lucky me… Thank you, Universe…
No unnecessary questions and painful worry.
You were so tired, that even a shower seemed to be a feat. The school uniform went on the floor. You didn't even care to change it. The pillow and fluffy blanket looked so alluring. And you surrendered.
I just lay here for a minute…
Bzzz bzzz bzzz
The vibration of your phone took you out of the sweet dreams.
And it didn't stop. Your phone went buzzing, till you reached out for your phone, lost somewhere under the blanket.
It was Volleyball team group chat.
Lev was bombarding it with stupid memes and fooling around. And, it seemed, some boys went along with it. Even Kenma participated.
You saw a privet message from Kenma and opened it.
What is wrong with u two?
Hello to you too, Pudding head. I am alive, thanks for asking.
Why shouldn't u be alive?
I am sore in mind and heart. The classes were exhausting. How's your stream?
Fine, I guess.
Sorry, couldn't make it.
It's ok. So, you'll just ignore my question?
What question?
What's going on with you and Kuroo?
Nothing?
Yeah, right.
He just pissed me off with his stupid chemistry jokes. That's all. Hey, can we talk tomorrow. I need to go through books, we have a test tomorrow, remember? Are you prepared?
Message read.
Kenma? You played the whole evening? Didn't you?
Message read.
I am not gonna help you tomorrow, you geeky Pudding. GN
Night. Y/N.
You smiled at his antics.
Shower. Tea. Homework… and, maybe, a couple of hours of a not so healthy sleep.
"Don't sleep on the wending machine, Y/N", Kenma shook you by the shoulder.
"I… am… not… shhhleping".
"Maybe you should better go home, you do look like a zombie".
"You are such a supportive friend, I'm touched".
"I do worry about your condition. You look really pale… are even eating properly".
"Says the guy, who likes to sit in a gamer cavern with noodlesoup".
"Come at the training today".
"I am not going to be a manager".
"Tell it to Tora and Lev, then".
"I did. I would like to help you more, but I don't think I can handle two schools and a club".
"When are your exams?".
"Mmm…the next Tuesday".
"You're gonna make it. I believe in you".
You woke up in an instant, blinked and staring at your childhood friend.
"What?", he asked blankly, not distracting from his console.
"These are the most inspiring words I heard from you in years. Well, except from that time in Kindergarten, when you tried to console me after me loosing my favorite hairpin".
"I am not the most socially opened person, but I do care about my friends. And you are like… a sister to me".
"Owww, Kyanmaaaa. I love you so much", you squeezed him and rubbed your chick with his.
"Kenma. Don't be late to the training. You are the one to babysit Lev today", Kuroo approached you two with a grumpy expression on his face.
"Grinch", you snorted dramatically at him.
He opened his mouth to retort, but bit his tongue, remembering your monologue from yesterday.
"Don't be late, or I'll take your console away", and he walked from you two.
"You should go. I'll probably head home. Shoooo shleepy. Call me later. I'll kick your butt in any game you pick".
"You can try. Eat and sleep properly".
"Yes, Sir. Later".
The several next days passed like in oblivion. Homework and exam preparations took all of your time. You didn't even go for a brief walk to breathe in some fresh air.
By Tuesday, you were squeezed like a lemon. Panda eyes, stomach ache and narcoleptic state of mind – that is what accompanied you throughout the day.
"Did you sleep?", Kenma asked with a tense voice.
"Yeah".
"Liar… Why …".
"Cause today is the day and I need to do it… and do it good", you stopped, feeling your anger and exhaustion take over control, -"Sorry. You know this is important for me. I am just terrified and couldn't keep my mind at ease. What if I fail. I would be forced to repeat the whole thing".
"Then you're gonna be even better next year".
"Yeah. And I lose one year, too. So annoying".
"You should take a nap before you go".
"No, no, no. I'm gonna definitely oversleep".
"I'll stay with you and wake you up in time".
"Tempting, but no".
"Just sleep already".
"No", your mind said, but your body disagreed. "Fine, maybe a short nap won't do harm". You laid on the bench under the big tree, fresh air brushing gently your skin, it felt like heaven.
You woke up in the evening. Terror was the first emotion, that overwhelmed you.
What happened? Did Kenma missed the time? Was he too invested in his game and noticed it too late? Why?
Your lungs lacked the air. It was a mess. The worst scenario happened.
"Kenma! Why didn't you wake me up?! What I'm going to do now… I missed everything", you started to sob.
"Hey, hey. It's fine", you heard a familiar voice.
"Tetsu? Why are you here? Where is Kenma?".
"He left for a practice".
"Why are you here?".
"I just kept an eye on you, while you were asleep. Well, instead of Kenma".
"Did he tell you to wake me up?".
"Yes. But I thought it would be better if you sleep more, before your body collapses…".
"Tetsu! I had important exams and I missed them, because you wanted to play bigbro". I'm screwed. I'm not gonna be able to retake the exams. Dang it!", you set down, hands around your head, the act of despair, as all the books call it. No tears, though, – "I can't even cry, because I'm so damn sore. Pathetic. Ah, duck it everything!".
"Well. As you sow, you shall mow".
"Screw you, Tetsu. Why the hell you even bother? You are not my brother, so stop. Can you pretend you don't know me or something? I am tired of this situation. It is frustrating".
"I can't. I seem to look for you in the crowd, I can recognize your voice and laughter, even if there are hundreds of people around. And I'm freaking hate it, when Lev tries to claim you".
"Am I hallucinating?".
He pinched your nose.
"Ouch. What was that for?".
"You clearly wanted to figure it out, whether it is reality or a dream".
"God. You are a dork and a jerk".
"I take it as a compliment".
"You really shouldn't", you stood up and wanted to go home, change into something comfy, grab a hot chocolate and dive into tons of blankets, and just spend there the rest of your life.
"Wait. Didn't you hear my confession", he tried to sound confident as usual, but he clearly failed.
"I didn't hear a thing. I am out", you chuckled and went to the gates.
"I heard that. It is a yes".
"I didn't hear any questions to answer them".
"You are going to date me".
"You wish, Captain".
"You can't say no after a passionate kiss we shared, you know?".
"I don't remember any passionate kiss at all", you continued walking.
"Such a stubborn one. Then I need to show you some real movie passion", with these words he ran you down.
He caught you by surprise with a gentle, yet a bit hungry kiss.
You frowned.
"Well, it's not the reaction, that I expected, but I take it, because you are too cute with that little frown look".
"Tell me, Tetsu. Has someone hit you with a ball or something?".
"Let me think. I don't remember it to happen".
"So, in other words, there is a chance of that".
"Come on. The feeling is mutual. Don't be an amino acid".
"Not again", you rolled your eyes and pushed him a bit. — "If you will take it back tomorrow, I am going to shave your bedhead. And send a photo to your buddy Bokuto. He will definitely annoy the crap out of you", you were proud of your possible vengeance plan.
"Ow, that hurts. But it won't be the case. I learned a lesson", he took your bag from you and put his free arm around your shoulder.
"You owe me a world, Kuroo".
"Your wish is my command".
"Kuroo-san stole my precious Senpai", Lev desperately sighed at the sight of the two of you smiling to each other.
"Did you know they kissed the last day at training camp?", Taketora excitedly added.
"Leave them alone", Kenma cut them short.
"But…", Lev didn't want to lose.
"No buts, Lev…".

My spot. Your spot. Our spot…
It is nice to have someone to support you, isn't it?
Sometimes the closest ones don't provide even the smallest amount of that. They don't accept you as a standalone human being, don't even try to do it, and keep pushing you with their own aspirations and goals.
It gets you in a cage of suppressed emotions.
At some point, you just lose the will to defend your own way in life.
Does it have to be that way? Why can't people just accept you for who you are and let you have your wings.
Even if you fail, it will be your path.
"You need to stop fooling around with your art stuff. After graduation, you'll join me and make yourself a career", your father just wouldn't stop picturing your future for you.
"Do I have a vote in this?", you smiled a little.
It is not like your father was a tyrant, you meant a world to him. You had everything, but not your future. He just didn't consider your aspirations.
"This is your future we are talking about, Y/N. You should thank me for being so interested in it. I love you and wish only the best for you".
"Yes, sure, Dad. Thank you. I need to go. I don't want to be late on the first day in a new school… in the middle of the year", you kissed your Dad on the temple, grabbed your school backpack and went out of the cage.
It was a bit chilly outside, but it is exactly what you needed – fresh, cool air. You took a deep breath and put on headphones.
Play…
Intoxicating vibes filled your mind and put your soul at ease. Maybe just for a bit, but it worked for you.
You walked past small colorful shrines with little fox statues and tried to imprint little details, so that you could draw it later as a sketch or even with watercolors. Perhaps you'll even make a foxy themed bullet journal.
Oh, it would look so cute…
You didn't notice that you've already reached your destination - Inarizaki High School.
As you were about to go straight to the lockers, you felt a strong push from behind.
"Samu, you jerk! What the hell?", bleached boy didn't even try to look sorry.
"Hey, are you alright? Sorry, I didn't notice you. It is just my stupid brother and his morning antics. Are you new? I didn't see you before", grey haired boy, approached you with curiosity.
"Yeah, I am fine. Moved a week ago. I am sorry, I need to go, need to find my classroom", you bowed and turned around.
"Hey, wait. What class are you in? I can show you the way".
"What? You? The way? Samu, don't be stupid. If you need a guide, I am your guy. Atsumu Miya at your service", he winked and held out his hand.
"Cut it, Sumu. He is an idiot. Don't mind him".
And just like that, they started bickering. It would probably entertain you a bit, but you decided not to waste any time.
"I am fine. Thanks", you walked away from the loud twins.
You found your classroom without any further problems and stopped for a moment in front of the door.
You've got this. It is just a new school, new people …
You were lucky, the bell rang, and the teacher welcomed you. You made a quick routine self introduction and took a place at the back of the class, near the window. Perfect.
Time passed by and it was already lunch pause. Mmm, the most delicious time of the day with its long peaceful break for all the students.
It had always been the most special time for you, as you found the best hidden spot on the rooftop at your previous school, to escape from everyone and everything, and spend the time in your own universe … doodling, sketching.
That was your quest for the break in this new school – to find the perfect deserted place on the roof and claim it as yours. Little did you know, the perfect places don't stay deserted for long.
You sneaked out of the classroom before anyone jumped on you with questions for newcomers. There will be time for that, you thought.
Five minutes later, you found it – your desolate paradise – the sun peeking from the corner, to keep you warm on a chilly day, zero noisy pipes to distract you and take you out of the mood. Ideal.
You didn't want to waste any time. You leaned against the wall and took your sketchbook out. And just when you wanted to turn on the music, you heard a quiet, yet annoyed voice.
"This is my spot".
You blinked twice, then looked at the source of the voice. Dark brown weirdly combed down hair, with few strands at the top and middle-parted bangs. Foxy grayish-yellow eyes piercing through with a blank expression.
"Excuse me?".
"This.is.my.spot", he repeated, bending slightly down.
"Ok, Doctor Cooper. What do you want me to do about it?".
"Suna. And this sitcom is so outdated".
"True. It has its charm, though", you pretended not to understand his hints.
"So?", he quirked his brows.
"What? If you expect me to leave, then you are sooo wrong".
"You are, supposedly, a newcomer so, technically, you have no right to claim this spot, for, at least, a couple of weeks".
"And you are a local roof Sheriff now? I am teeeeeeerribly sorry, Mr. Myspot, for not being sorry".
"You are a stubborn one, aren't you? Don't want to leave, then move".
You frowned, but moved a bit, just not to spend the whole break debating. You held your hands in order to accommodate yourself, when he plopped down on your legs.
"What the?".
"It is your entrance fee to the club".
"Who said that I want to join?".
"You".
"When, smartass?".
"Oh. You hurt me right here in my meow meow", he grinned with closed eyes.
It was a stupid meme, but you cracked. It didn't go unnoticed.
"Hm. You can smile. Ouch. What was that for?".
You slightly pinched him by the cheek.
"Didn't know artists could be that tough", he teased.
"What made you think I am an artist?".
"Come on. I saw your sketches… they are pretty cool".
"Yeah, I know", you sounded smug.
"Oh. Wow. Self-esteem".
"What's the point to do art, if you don't cherish it. This is the way".
"You are such a nerd. I wanna see more".
"What? My works or Mandalorian?", this time you teased him.
"Don't be ridiculous. Of course, Mandalorian".
"Oh, look who is a nerd now", you giggled.
Somehow, this strange encounter made you feel warm and serene.
"Here", you held out your sketchbook to him.
"Hm? Really? I can?", he was a bit confused.
You nodded and kept your eyes at the clear blue sky.
He turned gently the pages over, examining each one in details. You found yourself being captivated by the sight of his fingers, turning the pages. Then you looked up at his face. You found him appealing.
You felt the urge to dry his portrait. Not being able to do it at that moment, you bit your lower lip.
"Cute", he side-eyed you with a small smile.
"What? The little corgi? Yeah, he surely is".
"Oh, you wanna play dummy? I can do that", he laughed.
"Can I draw you?", you blurted out, looking him straight in the eyes.
"Yeah, sure, I guess. I have one condition, though".
"I am listening".
"Don't get involved with the twins".
"Twins? Ah, Miya. What? Why so sudden? I hardly know anyone here. By the way, Osamu looked normal, I guess. They seemed a bit loud, though".
"You know me now. I saw you bumping with Atsumu in the morning. And their antics will get you into trouble", he mumbled, frowning a bit.
"If I went completely insane, I would think that you like me", you felt so confident, but regretted it instantly.
"Would it be so bad if I do?".
"No. Wouldn't it be too fast?", now you were blushing. You didn't expect him to be so bold and confident. You did share the feeling.
"Maybe it is that thing with the first sight", he put your sketchbook to the side and laid his head onto your knees. "Do you want some Chuupet?".
"I'd prefer something more nutritious".
"There is a café near, they make nice sandwiches and muffins".
"I have no choice but to come by then".
"Fine. Tomorrow. At 5. After school. You can draw. It is pretty quiet there".
"How can I say no now", you smiled at the thought of going on a date with him. "Look at me, first day at school and made a friend, that takes me out to eat something delicious", still, you didn't want to overthink the situation.
"What?!", he sounded annoyed, – "I don't want to be friends with you".
"You barely know me, you don't even know my name".
"Y/N. Class 4. Dorky. With old-fashioned movie taste. Amazing artist. You should probably make a living out of this", he paused, – "Rintarou".
Your face flushed, whether from the fact, that he knew your name, or from the fact, that he pointed out something you strived for. How in the world did he manage to know your name? It has passed only a half of the day.
"Are you a stalker or something?".
"Dummy", he gave a slight flick on your nose. — "Your sketchbook. It has your info paper".
Right… It surely had it …
"So… Rin. How are we going to share your spot. I am willing to claim it to myself", you were proud to mock him a little.
"Hmm. My spot. Your spot… Our spot. This is the way", he retorted, and your smile became laughter.
"You.are.a.dork, Suna Rintarou".
"I should go check it up then. What if it is contagious?".
Just like that, you found someone who saw you for who you were.
Someone to share your thoughts with. To crack silly jokes with.
And don't pretend.
It's something, that everyone need in their life, even if it won't last.

Reminiscence
"So, I was in that dorky store the other day and …", you started with a content smile on your lightened up face.
"It is not dorky, they actually have some excellent refined miniatures, that are going to gain in price over the years", he sounded a bit too serious for a dork, and a bit too dorky for a businessman.
"Oh My God, Tsukishima Kei, you are the dorkiest dork I have ever known".
"Says the girl, who buys one new keychain every time she enters a shop, and doesn't even use it", he rolled his eyes and showed at your current keychain.
"Well, you got me this one, so I cherish it, as I cherish you", you huffed a bit at his comment.
"Yeah, maybe then you declare your love to me?", he teased you.
"I have no problem with that … unlike some annoying, yet dorky guys", you increased a bit your pace, so that you were ahead of him, – "I love you, and I am pretty sure I won't love anyone the same way as | do love you".
Beep, beep, beep …
A dream? Why it has to be about you again? The best time he has ever spent, the time you were still together.
He reached the alarm clock on the side table and knocked it off. It was still early, the first rays of autumn sun were creeping through the curtains. He frowned, turned over his pillow, and tried to go back to sleep.
How could he? He saw you again, like you were still in his life. He could feel that light floral scent, that you were so obsessed with. Or was he that much obsessed with it? He inhaled deeply, trying to feel the air and not your scent.
He closed his eyes and there were you. In your neatly, yet a bit of oversized school uniform, smiling at him, radiating the energy, he would never confess, that fed him every single day in high school. Your silky hair, waving at every bumpy step you took. Your delicate fingers, intertwined with his on the way to school and back. Weirdly shaped, yet cute, birthmark behind your left ear. Your puffy rosy lips and the sweetness of your kisses infiltrated his mind completely … He would give everything just to taste it one more time.
"Crap … What a nice way to start the day", he couldn't torture himself anymore, so he decided to stay up and begin the crazy hasty day.
His phone buzzed. It was Yamaguchi.
Hey? Tsuki! Do you want to grab a cup of coffee before the game?
Yeah. I don't think I can handle the freaky reunion without one.
👍 C u there, Tsuki!
He put his phone on the kitchen counter, turned on his favorite playlist and went to shower.
Today was the reunion day with the Karasuno team. Now that Hinata returned to Japan, the 3dyears decided to make everyone gather in a some sort of pub, with drinking and grilling and billiards playing. With all the "fun stuff", that, he, Tsukishima Kei, so appreciated.
He wasn't really in the mood for participating. Yamaguchi annoyed the hell out of him, so he just surrendered, on one condition, though – not more than one hour of having a drink together and cutting up old touches.
You wouldn't be there, so there will be no harm, he thought, trying to justify his presence there.
After your brake-up, that nobody, even him, expected, you went abroad to study. That is what he wanted for you. During your senior year, you were offered to study overseas, but you rejected it, not wanting to part your ways with him.
How stupid of you. He always thought about how reckless it was for you to miss such an opportunity. You deserved it, even if it meant to be miles away from you. It wasn't easy for both of you. He was actually looking forward to the future with you in it.
As the graduation came closer, you started to fight about it over and over. He gave you countless reasons, and you didn't want to listen. You were perfectly fine with the local university, but he wanted more for you.
At some point he lost control over the situation, and he had said everything, that he shouldn't. You left. And he couldn't change it.
Every bridge was burned down, and you both didn't even try to communicate with each other, at least the first year.
Although, he followed your life through social media. He didn't leave a trace, but he collected your photos and shorts. Then he deleted it several times, and restored.
He even tried blind dating, that Tadashi arranged for him. Each ended in a half of an hour. He just didn't pay attention to the date, he didn't even try to.
He was fine with that. Tsukishima Kei didn't want to look for a soulmate, he had already found one. And lost it with his own attitude.
Time has passed, and he got to his normal state of mind. Although, every once in a while, he dreamed of you and what you once shared.
And, God, he did miss that.
Tumblr media
It was already half seven, and you were trying to find your suitcase at the airport. You were late, terribly late. You promised Hinata to meet everyone, before his team leaves the town.
"Hey, Dad. Yeah, I am at the airport. They lost my suitcase. I am late to the meeting. Did you park my car? You are a lifesaver! Love you! Well, I definitely come in the morning… Yeah, yeah… I won't drink, I am driving. And if I will, I just call you? OK? Bye, Daddy!".
You filled up the document for the luggage return and rushed to your car. You weren't exactly a racer type of driver, but some people might think you were a danger to society.
All the rush put you in the state of oblivion. You didn't even think that Tsukishima would participate at this sort of event. So, with no unnecessary thoughts, you drove to the place.
Meanwhile, everyone greeted each other and was catching up with the life updates.
"So, Tsukishima, you are the same as Kageyama and Hinata, after all", Suga stated with a sincere smile on his face.
"I am not".
"I could continue, but I am really happy to see you all guys, so I won't annoy you", Sugawara gigged, sipping lazily from his glass.
"I would appreciate it, Sugawara-san".
Eventually, everyone was chatting in small groups. The 3dyears, the 2ndyears, with Tanaka, bragging about his beautiful wife. Yachi was giggling all the time, having small conversations with Kiyoko. And the four of 1styears were pissing each other like in high school, 4 years ago.
Hinata looked worried at the screen of his phone.
"Where are you?".
"Are you waiting for someone, Hinata?", Ennoshita asked.
"Well, yeah. But she is late. I am just worried, if everything is ok".
"She? Don't tell me you have a girlfriend, Human Tangerine", Kageyama grinned.
"Well, she is not my girlfriend. But even you would be freaking happy to be with her", Hinata laughed and send a message to you.
"Hinata, could it be, that …", Yamaguchi worriedly started to ask, but was cut by the sharp noises of a parking car.
"Shoyo!", you rushed into the restaurant.
"You made it!", Hinata jumped, excitedly.
"Guys! I freaking missed you!", you were so hyped, that you didn't notice Tsukishima, standing behind you in a pure shock.
It was something, that he desperately wanted to happen, and afraid of, at the same time.
You were there. The same height, the same hair length, the same stupid boots, inappropriately short skirt, although, he found it astonishingly charming on your figure, off-shoulder blouse, and the same scent, that made him inhale deeply …
His mind went crazy, and he stood there, like a 2 m statue, not able to move even a bit.
"This is going to be a very entertaining evening", Suga winked to the team.
"Or it will be a disaster", Yachi added, almost whispering.
You jumped at the first free place, at the end of the table, near Yamaguchi, and hugged him.
"Oh, Yamacutie! I missed you! How are you? The last time I saw you, your hair were longer… Shoyo, look at your muscles. Jeez, you look almost like Bokuto. How's he doing? Is he still in town? Tobio, are you smiling? Like actually smiling? Woah … Daichi, how many lives have you already saved? ", you were bursting out with a million of questions, and you started to ask them, when someone bluntly cut your chitchatting off.
"You occupied my place".
Your heart dropped.
You turned hastily and threw over an empty glass. He caught it, and now you were looking each other in the eyes.
The time stopped. Your mind went completely blank. You were terrified, to say the least. How does on Earth that happen, that you didn't think of him?
He, instead, seeing your dumbfounded state and the effect, he had on you, felt a wave of adrenaline and incredible confidence.
"Yes. I'm sorry …", that's all you could answer.
"Then, if you are sorry, you move?".
"Yeah. Wait, what? Why would I? Didn't you hear about courtesy?".
"I did, as a matter of fact. However, it doesn't apply to our situation. You took the place, that was already occupied", he grinned.
"There is no situation", bitterness washed you over, – "I need a drink".
You stood up and made your way straight to the bar.
"Tsukki …", Yamaguchi sighed.
"Tsukishima, why should you be so smart ass all the time?", Tanaka frowned.
"I am just stating the obvious thing, that is all", he bit his tongue, knowing he got under your skin.
You came back with a bottle of sake, determined to fall into limbo.
"Don't you think it is a bit too much for you?", Tsukishima's eyes widened a bit at the sight of the bottle.
"Don't you think it is not your concern?", you retorted, not wanting to look him in the eyes.
"I just…", he wanted to say something.
"Let's just not ruin the evening for all of them, the wanted it to happen for a long time", you asked him with a soft tone.
"It was never my intention".
"Yes, I know".
The rest of the evening was quite calm. Rare freaky Duo bickering interfered to the tranquility. They were discussing the game between their teams and who was on top.
Everyone shared their stories, photos, and it almost felt like the evening after the volleyball practice at the gym.
You slowly sipped your drink and space out from time to time, concentrating on the greenish candle in front of you. The flickering flame took you to that wonderful time you had, when you were in love.
"How have you been?", a familiar voice took you out of your trance. You raised your eyes and met Tsukishima's questioning face.
"What? I am sorry, I am a bit spaced out".
"How are you?".
"I am ok. Why?".
"You look tired".
"I am, I guess. I got my diploma a few weeks ago. So, maybe it is just postgrad fatigue catching up".
"Congratulations, you deserve it".
"Um, thanks", you felt again some sort of bitterness in your mouth.
"I think I need another drink", you placed a hand on the table, prepared to go get another drink, when his hand reached yours.
"That is enough for today", he said in a gentle tone. Your skin burned like it was fire and not his hand, that touched you.
Fortunately, no one noticed your interaction. Well, maybe Yamaguchi stayed the whole evening on guard, just in case. He tried to redirect everyone's attention, so you two could possibly have your first in the past 3 years conversation. And he succeeded.
"I need fresh air", you finally broke the silence.
"As you should. You emptied the whole bottle by yourself", he didn't want to offend, but it turned out like that.
"Ok, that's enough", you walked out as quite as possible, so that no one notices your frustration.
He followed you.
"Stop following me".
"So that you fell somewhere on the parking lot and Yamaguchi wouldn't stop blaming me…".
"What is wrong with you? Really? Yamaguchi? That's how you justify your actions? Grow up!".
"Like you did?", he retorted. "You are so mature to vanish after a little misunderstanding".
"Excuse me?", you snapped. "You wanted it? Didn't you? You just couldn't stop torturing me with that stupid exchange program. Did you ask me? What I wanted? And guess what? I didn't want any of this to happen. We were planning our future together. You were the one to talk about moving together! You ruined us! And now you act like you care? You can't do this to me, you just don't have the right to do it!", you didn't realize you were crying, salty tears falling like a waterfall. You couldn't stop. All emotions washed you over at once and mixed, intoxicating and suffocating you.
"Y/n, you need to calm down", he tried to help you.
But the more he talked, the less you could control yourself. You were surely having a near panic attack experience.
"I can't breathe…Kei".
The picture in front of you blurred and started to faint.
You don't know how long you were unconscious and what exactly happened there.
You slightly opened your eyes and tried to compose yourself. Your head was still dizzy.
You weren't at the parking lot for sure. Then where were you?
The apartment was dimly alight. You looked around.
There was surely one more room in it.
The living room was minimalistically, yet neatly furnished, there was an open kitchen with a dining table in front of it. Without excessive decorations, some flowerpots with ananthous plants, lots of weirdly titled books and, of course, dinosaur miniature replicas – that is the description, you would give this place.
You stood up shakily, walked to one of the shelves and traced your fingers across the books.
"How do you feel", he asked gently from behind. A cup of tea in his hands.
"I'm sorry. I didn't want to cause a drama. It is just … I just couldn't control it … I am sorry …", you sat on the corner of the sofa, covering your face.
"It is ok. I shouldn't push it", he kneeled down in front of you. "Look at me… Y/n, look at me", he stroked gently through your hair.
You raised your head and faced him. It's like there weren't those 3 years apart. Every problem and misunderstanding faded away.
"Your shoulders grew wider", you put your hand on his chest, caressing its way to his neck.
"You haven't changed a bit", he tucked a strand behind your ear, closing the distance between you.
"I haven't stopped loving you".
"I have never tried to stop", you kissed him gently in the corner of his lips.
He answered your kiss, not as gentle as you, a bit more eager, as if he was in a desperate need of your touch and taste.
He surely was.

Emergency meeting
What exactly have led you to this situation? You were standing on the warm late autumn evening behind the school with a mumbling guy in front of you.
"Y/N-san, I've been watching you for several months … The way you walk, the way you talk, the way you sing to yourself, when you think nobody's watching … everything is mesmerizing", he started from afar.
You didn't interfere, as you were determined to figure out, why on Earth would someone be so sure that you were looking for a partner and that he was the one for you.
You have already had a boyfriend. Tall, salty, ridiculously blunt? Yes. But you were perfectly fine with that. You smiled at the thought of how exactly you became a couple right after the match with Shiratorizawa. Then you frowned at the thought of how long you two needed to understand the mutual feelings. That's when you were pulled out of your thoughts.
"Um, are you alright?", the boy was struggling with reading your emotions.
"Yes, sorry about that. What were you saying?".
"I was hoping that we could go out sometime and get to know each other better".
"I am really sorry, but this is impossible", you tried to soothe the bitterness of rejection. "I am already in a happy relationship and I treasure it".
"But they say you are looking for a partner. Did they scam me?!".
"What? Who? I am sorry, I don't quite understand? Can you explain, please?", you furrowed your brows.
"Tanaka and Nishinoya sad you are available".
"Available? Huh? Is this a joke?", you turned and started mincing towards the gym.
"I'm gonna kill these two ***".
"No need. I am going to do it myself. Sorry for that one more time!".
You entered the gym with a pure desire to beat up the matchmakers.
"Oh, hey, Y/N!", Yamaguchi waved. "We are done for today. Tsuki's changing. He comes in a minute".
"What? Ah, yeah. OK. Thanks. Are Tanaka and Noya here?".
"Oh! That's our lucky one! How's your confession? Isn't he a perfect match for you?", Noya and Ryo were almost radiating from how proud they were to find you a perfect couple.
"Who in the Universe told you that I need a boyfriend?", you were almost shouting.
Suga, who actually knew that you and Tsukishima were a thing, he saw you kissing on the stairs right after the reward ceremony, and the other 2nd years were watching the scene in silence.
The things started to take a very interesting turn.
"You told that to your friend the other day", they answered in unison.
"Huh? When? And why were you sneaking up on me?".
"You were looking at the phone and there was a pic of your friend with a boyfriend and a…".
"The dog! There was a picture of a dog, you two crackheads! Oh my God!, you tried not to giggle, but the situation was ridiculous.
"A dog?!", the came to a realization.
"Yeah".
"But was the guy not good? Did he have a bad breath?", they didn't want to cancel their plan of finding you a match.
"W-what? No, no… the guy was ok, I guess, but that's not the point…".
"Ok, Ryo, we need an emergency meeting!".
"Yeah, Noya-san! Chikara, Suga-san, you too!", there was nothing what would stop them at the moment.
The next moment you found yourself sitting in front of a whiteboard with a huge headline "Y/N's ideal type".
"What the heck? Where did you take it?", you tried to process all that was happening.
"So, what your ideal guy should look like?", two pairs of crazy eyes were staring at you, demanding an answer.
"He surely should be 6' 2" at least", Suga exclaimed from aside, grinning.
You inhaled and decided to play along, since you couldn't stop the train of uncontrollable flow of thoughts.
"I do prefer when a guy knows how to use his tongue", you stated and giggled.
"Ah… wha...how...", it was a hilarious pause. You were trying so hard not to crack.
"What I mean is that a man should know how to use words and brain. I like a guy, who can pronounce - Parasaurolophus - at least".
"Para-who?", Noya's face was almost screaming from pain.
"Parasaurolophus", you jumped a bit from hearing the voice of your one and only Dinosaur expert.
"Oh, Tsukishima! Join us, your big brain should help us".
"Help with what exactly?", he was analyzing the situation and what it is got to do with you. Then he saw the headline on the board and frowned.
"Oh, I know one more!", Suga was having a good time,- "he should definitely wear glasses!".
You giggled.
"Yeah, I like the glasses".
"Hm, now I understand why you turned down that guy", Tanaka pondered over for a moment.
"What's next?", Noya asked.
Your phone went vibrating.
Kei
Care to explain?
You
¯_(ツ)_/¯ It is what it is. Just play along 💗
Kei
Why? What is in it for me?
You
You get to see their faces, when they realize we are dating?
And you get to peak the movie for the Friday movie night.
Kei
Deal.
"So, what's next? Hair color?".
"Blonde", you were sitting there like in an interrogating room.
"Eyecolor?".
"Hm. That's a tricky one. I would say hazel, but someone could disagree", you winked at Tsuki, and he rolled his eyes.
Suga was very entertained by this interactive movie, so he pushed further.
"Now tell us about your personality preferences, Y/N-chan", he winked and smiled like a Cheshire cat.
"Oh, I have a really bad taste in boys", you laughed briefly, trying not to look at your boyfriend, who were visibly annoyed. You could tell that by the growing crease on his forehead. "But I am perfectly fine with that".
"She's just teasing you", Suga tapped Tsukishima on the shoulder.
"Yeah. I know".
"Oh, did I mention, that he should have a good taste in music? That's VERY important, Maybe he should not be so academically involved, though…".
"You are having fun, aren't you?", Tsukishima asked, irritated.
"Am I? This is a big deal, you know. We are talking about my future partner here", you mocked him.
"Can we go already? Didn't you say you want to try that Taiyaki?".
"Oh, and you won't complain?".
"When did I?".
"Um, let me think, the last time at that coffee shop, you annoyed the crap out of me, only because their shortcake was not fluffy enough", you stocked your tongue.
The team was in pure shock. Tanaka and Nishinoya were paralyzed by the little conversation between you two. Sugawara was grinning, and Yamaguchi looked like he had won a lottery. Daichi clearly noticed the change in your interactions, so it was not a big surprise for him.
It is not like you and Tsuki hide your relationship from everyone. It is just that you were content with what you had, not shouting at every corner about your happiness.
Of course, Yamaguchi knew everything, how could he not? He was the first to figure out your mutual attraction and helped his friend to accept the feeling.
"So, Y/N, can we go?", he sounded tired.
"Yes, sure", this time you had no intention to tease him, it was clear he was tired after the training.
"I am sorry, guys. You are the best, but I don't really need a boyfriend. I have already got one ... the perfect one, actually. So, please, no more matchmaking. I don't want to break anyone's heart, because my feelings won't change. I am totally in love", you started to walk towards the door and you could see Tsuki's ears were painted pink.
"I don't understand... wait! Tall, blonde, glasses, bad personality...", Tanaka started to decipher.
"He doesn't have a bad personality, he just isn't that emotionally agitated like you guys", you took Kei's hand, interlocking your fingers and walked out of the gym. He didn't withstand it.
"Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! You are dating Tsukishimaaaaaaaaaaa!", the gym burst out with screams. You heard Suga's laughing his guts out and Daichi snapping at all of them.
"Go home, you Sherlock and Watson. And don't you dare to mock those two, or I swear I am going to kill you", Daichi was dead serious.
"Pfft...hahahah. I told you it will be pretty entertaining", you told Tsuki.
"I am glad you had fun", he answered with a slight smile. "Were you serious there?".
"M? About what? You having a bad personality?".
"You are being today incredibly funny", he rolled his eyes. "I meant, you... being in love... with me... ", he mumbled, trying to hide his rosy cheeks.
"Nah, I was just mocking them", you giggled.
"You are a dork", he stated. "But I guess I love you too".
"Wooow. Tsukishima-san. I guess I love you too. This is a confession, that one receives once in a lifetime. But I can't complain, I'll take it. Kiss me", you stopped and locked your eyes with his.
"We are in the middle of the street".
"Yeah. I know. Who cares?".
"Um... I do?".
"Fine. Let's go, then, the Taiyaki booth will be closed soon", you turned and started to walk.
"Ah, you are one stubborn Kookoo, you know that?", he sighed and surrendered.
"What? I can't hear you. You hurt me right here, in my meow meow", you tried to hold back laughter.
"No, not again with that dorky memes. Come here".
"No. I am dealing with a heart brake here".
"Y/N", he sounded dead serious.
"Yes, Sir. Don't be angry. I am just goofing around. You knew what you were signing for when you kissed me on the night of your glorious triumph… besides, ".
And then he kissed you, gently caressing your jawline. You melted into his touch and he noticed it.
"You are so short, it gives me neck ache every single time".
"Maybe you should stop kissing me, then".
"Yeah. I probably should".
"It is such a shame you can't", you walked over to him and stand on your tiptoes. "Sorry, not sorry". This time, you gave him a peck on the lips. When you were about to break the kiss, he pulled you back.
And you stayed like this for a moment, enjoying the tenderness between the two of you.

It had always been you, Dinodork!
You rushed through the school gates like a lightning, ignoring everything and everyone on your way. You were late… like, inappropriately late. And the fact, that you lived not far from the school, didn't help a bit.
All thanks to Suga. He told you to watch some freaky horror movie, that "was sooooo good, had many plot twists and was not scary at all". Does that even make sense?
Being a movie addicted, you watched it. What could go wrong? It is just a movie. Oh, you were so mistaken. IT.WAS.SCARY.AS.HELL. Bloody, creepy, scare jumpy… You couldn't sleep at all, you heard noises all over the house… Scratches, shadows, whispers… the whole package. In the morning, you were looking like a falling asleep on your feet Zombie-panda. Suga was going to pay you for the unforgettable experience and swollen eyes. That was your priority for the day, till everything took another direction.
You opened your locker with shaky hands and out of breath, not noticing a small bluish envelope, that fell out. You were about to pick it up, when someone stood behind, like a giant skyscraper. That took you completely off guard, and you forgot for good about the little envelope beside your feet.
"Senpai, you do know, highschoolers should not play videogames till the very morning, especially when they have problems with waking up in time?", you heard a snarky comment from behind. A pair of hazel eyes observed your every movement, analyzing. Why is he always there, when you are struggling?
"And you are collecting Dino figurines, Tsuki...shima...san", you blurted out and turned the opposite direction, not wanting to stay a minute under his tense gaze. You were almost gone, when you stopped and shouted.
"It was not a video game, it was a movie, Dork", you ran off as fast as you could, grinning like a devilish imp, with a taste of a small victory.
It was already some sort of kinky ritual between him and you – constant bickering, riling each other up, but never to the point of no return. You didn't realize, or maybe you just didn't want to realize, the simple reason for your daily word battles.
"Ah… You should already tell him… ", your friend sounded really confident.
"I don't understand a word you say"
"Mhm… Just make sure you don't break someone's heart in the process of understanding", that comment went past your ears.
The classes went unexpectedly fast and smooth. You went straight into the gym right after the bell rang.
You were helping Shimizu-senpai and Hi-chan at the Volleyball club during practices. It was almost always fun, although sometimes unbearable. Tsukishima was the reason for both of that conditions.
Some days, you were discussing new music releases or sharing playlists during long breaks. Surprisingly, your taste in music was not so different from his. You didn't actually emphasize this sort of connection. Although, from time to time you did think that all the tracks, that he shared with you, were a 100% hit for you. Did he actually choose them to make you feel happy, or were you overthinking?
The other days you were almost fighting about something stupid. And it was him, who always started the bickering. Especially, the times you were busy with Kageyama or pretty much everyone, except Yamaguchi. Daichi was so done with both of you, but silently accepted the situation.
"Suga-san, you remember that movie, you were so hyped about?".
"Yeah, what's with it?", he was smiling with the brightest and the most innocent smile.
"Did you tell me to watch it on purpose?".
"What? Why? How could you think of that?", he was giggling and didn't even try to cover it.
"Oh, yeah… it was on purpose! I knew it! You are going to pay for that, Suga-senpai, you know that, right?", you were up to a tickle battle of all the time. You started to approach him with a devilish smile.
"No! Daichi will snap again, and I'm gonna be the guilty one! Stop it!", he tried to retreat, but it was already late. You jumped at him from the back and started the tickle battle. It is not like you liked Sugawara, it is just that your bubbly personalities clicked, 100 % not in a romantic sense.
You were so much in the momentum, that you didn't even notice the heavy gaze of Mr. Salty. Even Sugawara noticed and tried to joke it out, but didn't succeed.
"Y\N-Senpai, don't you think it is quite pathetic, to chase your love interest in a place, where are many other people, who are not interested in your love life? ", he sounded almost like a snake, elaborating and emphasizing each word, with a grin on his face.
"Excuse me? ", to say you were shocked, doesn't mean a thing. You were about to explode. He was wrong in so much way. It was never your goal to romance someone from the Volleyball club. You were just being friendly and wanted to have a great time.
"Oh, you are so head over heals, that you can't hear now", he stated bluntly.
"What's gotten into you?", you tried to reason with him, but it was obvious that your heart sank to the bottom of your feet. And it kept sinking.
"I am just being honest. You should learn how to keep your love life away from school", he talked and talked with that monotonous blunt voice, that was getting under your skin.
You didn't quite understand why his words hurt so much. It wasn't something that could easily offend you, but why did it offend you. You wanted to tell him about hordes of girls, assaulting Tadashi with thousands of questions not about him, but about his friends. What? Why are you thinking of that? It is not like it is your business. You watched him talking, but it was a dead silence. And there came the answer…
I like him...
Everything that followed was happening in a blur. You grabbed your backpack and went through the gym doors. You wished you'd never understood the reason you subconsciously wanted to spend time with him, to share your thoughts, even the darkest one. You were trying so hard to compose yourself and not to catch a panic attack, that you didn't notice he followed you.
"What are you doing? Aren't you going to retort? What? Did I hurt your feelings by telling Sugawara-san about your affection?".
You stopped in your tracks.
"Say something, Senpai...", he almost demanded.
"What do you know about my feelings, Tsukishima? Why do you even care about it? ", you weren't crying, but he could tell by the bitterness of your voice, you were hurt, and it made him feel guilty.
"Is the idea of me caring about something once in a blue moon that repelling for you?", he mumbled, trying not to push any further and not to sound too soft.
"It is not repelling. Don't get me wrong. You tend to push people away, and to me, the reason is quite obvious. You can fool anyone wit h that snarky attitude, but not me. But this... ", you pointed to the gym.
"You can thank me later, when Sugawara-san asks you out, and you'll have your happily ever after. Or with the guy, who wrote you a love letter this morning", he clenched his fists and looking at the fireflies, dancing around the lamppost.
"Are you freaking kidding me? What the duck with the happily ever after? So now you are a Cinderella author? I thought you were into something more academic... Wait, what? What love letter?", you snapped. You were angry at him, at you, at the stupidity of the moment. How could two people not see the attraction between them. Ok, maybe it was hard for him to acknowledge the sentiments towards you, but you? You were open-minded and were always determined to tell people the way you feel about them.
"I am not a fan of love stories, like you... ", he started in a shaky, yet snarky manner.
"It had always been you, Dinodork!", you shouted at the limits of your lungs, not wanting to go through the second round.
"What?", he blinked, trying hard to analyze the words.
"I don't have feelings for Suga, Daichi, Kageyama or anyone else int this whole universe, except YOU!", emotions covered you and there was no turning back at this point. So, you just spilled out every damn emotion, that you had.
"I didn't intend to have this conversation, nor wanted I to confess the feelings, that I didn't realize I had for you, but here we are... Sorry to spill it all on you, and maybe, you can just ignore it. Don't worry, I am not going to stalk you like a crazy fangirl or something... I just better be going... ", you were sure you can escape in no time. So you did.
The moment you went past him, he grabbed you by the backpack and pulled into a kiss.
The world stopped. And then spun. It ended up in fireworks.
It wasn't that long, but it surely was tender, and you both took your time to savor the moment.
"And I thought I was bad at expressing my feelings, Senpai...".
"Oh, shut up, you could've kissed me long time ago, and we could've spared the team from this whole warfare, you Din...mhm...".
"Did you say something? I couldn't hear you", he was proud of himself. How could he not be?
"Baka.... Tsukishima baka... ".

In the blur of your thoughts
School is supposed to be one of the best parts of life, but why were you struggling, not with the process itself or the material. It was sort of a burnout syndrome. It was just that itchy and heavy feeling in your chest, that comes every afternoon and consumes all of your thoughts and energy and turns them into the void. Were you even trying to escape that state? At some point, you started to like that time of the day, when you can isolate yourself from everything and everyone.
There was no club activity today. So here you were again… in a dim classroom 2-4, sitting at your place at the end of the row, looking through the window and seeing nothing than a blur of the school yard. You throw your head back and start the first playlist.
The moment music fills your brain, you close your eyes and drifts with its flow. It's some space ambient music, that he shared with you several weeks ago, and it actually has some strong effect on you. It almost lulls you into a sleepy state of mind, but then your thoughts are invaded by him…
That particular blunt expression on his face, that catches you off-guard and leaves you speechless every time, pops up in your hazy mind. Was he teasing you from the start, or is it a new hobby of his? It's not like he's messing around hard with you, like he sometimes does with Hinata or Kageyama. Is it even appropriate for him to tease his Senpai? You flinch at the thought of you being a year older than him. Why are you even thinking about the age difference in the first place? Your body tenses up, and you desperately try to brush these thoughts off.
You let out a deep sigh, as you whisper to yourself – "This is so laaaame".
"It is certainly lame of you to sit after school in a dark empty room, listening to the ambient music, that can actually put you to sleep… ", – he pauses for a second, just to tease the hell out of you, and adds – "Senpai".
Shivers go down your spine, as you hear the remark, but you put all your strength to play it cool. "You are the one, who shared it with me".
"You asked for it. Politely, actually. How could I refuse… Senpai".
You furrow eyebrows upon hearing his teasing tone, and you can swear your left eye is starting to twitch. It doesn't go unnoticed by him, as you hear a low chuckle in the doorway.
"You are a little brat, Tsukishima… -San", – you state the very accurate fact.
The moment you open your eyes, you see nothing but a colossal figure hovering over. Golden-brown eyes staring at you with an unreadable expression.
The time just freezes and everything around just fades away. No music, no sounds, no surroundings… just this moment. You hate it… the feeling of being absorbed by another person… wholeheartedly and irretrievably.
"Earth to Senpai", he flicks your forehead with a finger, and you snap out of your trance, trying to compose yourself as fast as you can, hiding the blushing cheeks with one hand.
Was he smiling just now? You can swear, there was a small smile in the corner of his lips, as he was watching you collecting yourself…
I don't own any of the characters, that are described. All credits to their creator – Furudate Haruichi. I just freakin' love his work.
Although, I do own my imagination.
Please enjoy with me some of my "sketches". I'm not experienced in writing, so, please, bear with me.
Be respectful and caring to others in the comments – that's something we lack of right now.

When I read a book, I put in all the imagination I can, so that it is almost like writing the book as well as reading it – or rather, it is like living it
