Clannibal fic rec masterlist🍷

There are a few good Clannibal recommendation masterlists floating around but a lot of them are pre-2015 and most of the fics were deleted or have broken links! Lily of the Valley by Downriver ★ An alternate take on the events at Muskrat Farm and easily my favourite clannibal fic of all time. Well-written and very Harris-esque.

Solution for Entropy by AndAllThatMishigas ★ One of the best post-chapter 101 fics. Covers everything Thomas Harris didn't and more.

Breaking Free / Playing House / Finding Peace by BookishGal ★ Everybody's favourite clannibal fic(s).

Propriety: Emily Post and the Art of War by Glimmerdark ★ A 'what if' fic that explores what might've happened if Clarice hadn't been shot at Muskrat farm.

After Dinner of the Chesapeake by RunningWithDeer ✪ One of the oldest Clannibal fics (circa 1999) and still one of the best. Post-chapter 101 fic.

Fidelity / Bravery by kalabangsilver ★ Two refreshingly well-written one-shots by a fandom veteran.

Anniversary by NyxFixx ✪ A new-years-eve fic that takes a look back through their relationship. One of the OG clannibal fics.

Best of Three by Zircon ✪ A cat-and-mouse game that takes a turn for the better.

Long Fics - generally 35k+ words

Tell Me a Secret by kalabangsilver ★ One very long scene that captures a conversation between Hannibal and Clarice early in the morning.

Paper Trails by kalabangsilver ★ The quintessential clannibal fic. Probably one of the longest (210k) with a ton of good exposition, if that's your thing.

Chiaroscuro / Ring of Fire by bugsfic A great couple of fics following Hannibal and Clarice as fugitives in Virginia. Amazing immersion and characterisation. Very Harris-esque. VERY underrated.

In Profundis by Downriver/JordanHart ✪ ☆ A twisted take on Dante's inferno with some intense sex scenes and a whole ton of very intriguing characterisation... TW for heavy k!nk content.

The Lost Wages of Sin by Nyx Fixx ★ ☆ Sadly unfinished but I consider it required reading. TW for some detailed reference to SA.

Pygmalion Redux by donttouchthefigs ★ Some of the best prose available under the ship tag. A whole ton of symbolism and artistic references throughout.

Redemption by duffie83/MajorBachman Based in Florence and focuses on the hunt for a serial killer, for my fellow lovers of italian scenery and heavy plotwork.

Twelve Past Entropy by Nyx Fixx ★ This is about as good as it gets. Nyx Fixx set the bar very high.

Coda by EGL ✪ A classic, and a refreshingly unique fic based in Lithuania. Incredible wordbuilding and characterisation. TW for a fairly graphic SA scene about halfway through; it is in no way romanticised.

The Body Electric by lamb_and_knife ✪ ☆ Aka 'the art of fucking.' Very well written and in character. Hot.

The Watchmaker by Demeter1973 ★ Post-Muskrat farm fic. Wonderfully symbolic.

hannibal when other characters talk about him: a calm and collected monster, indecipherable poet who only speaks in riddles & can read your mind in a second. very intelligent and educated. evil but surprisingly sane. charmingly off putting with stellar etiquette - he's, overall, a menace. a demon; the devil.

meanwhile hannibal when we're on his pov: sending very funny notes to will graham just to fuck with his head, being genuinely invested on The Horse, cleverly making fun of chilton's hair, [being a bougie babygirl], drawing weird clarice fanart, casually licking her car's steering wheel, digging up clarice's dad & (presumably) putting on his clothes, accidentally starring on a lowkey comedy scene on a plane by trying to secretly eat nice food while trapped with tourists, deliberately filling a room with flowers only to realize that there were too many flowers + deciding that the obvious solution had to be "ADD MORE FLOWERS", incestuously projecting his sister on the only person he seemingly cares about, changing his face for shits and giggles (he knows no one's going to find him), biting off someone's eyebrow to prove a point, [being so skinny and short that they have to point it out constantly]
