London
Yes, I apparently didn’t think I had traveled enough this summer so I joined my two sisters and my cousin to London and it was great! We flew from Amsterdam on a Thursday and returned the following Sunday. A weekend trip in other words. Though short, we managed to do a lot of things!  Our first day we decided to stroll on Oxford Street, classic window shopping. We also started the intense search for a pair of white sneakers for my cousin (a search which did not end in success). One can only however stroll along Oxford Street for so long, so we went for pizza for dinner and decided to watch Spiderman Homecoming in the cinema. The movie was hilarious and I got to enjoy Percy Pig gummies, a wonderful combination. Our second day was also our most planned one as we had tickets for the Warner Bros Harry Potter Studio Tour and we took the bus there and watched Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. This was my second time visiting the tour, but they had made several updates which were fun to see (aaaaand I’m a huge nerd so I could probably visit it every week and still find it amazing). The Forbidden Forest and the Hogwarts Express were new to me and neither disappointed. Back in London we ate dinner at a pub in Camden and we enjoyed the rest of our evening there.
On the Saturday we started out with no particular plans except for the evening, but my sister wanted to go to an exhibition about Balenciaga at the Victoria and Albert Museum. I joined her because I like the V&A Museum and I think watching fashion pieces is very interesting and I am always amazed by the amount of thought and work that are put into only one clothing piece. My cousin and second sister went to the Science Museum and somehow got stuck on one exhibition for two hours. We joined up and went to Knightsbridge where we were treated to an incredible dinner. We went home happy and prepared for our last day.
The last day we once again wanted to go along Oxford Street to finish our window shopping and wrap up our sneakers hunt. We also visited Harrods which is always an experience. We found a 12,5 kg gold bar that was worth £ 393, 339.42, tea that cost almost~ as much and toilets that were impossible to find behind the rows of clothes and handbags. We soon had to take the bus to the airport and on our way we successfully checked Koenigsegg of the list of car brands that we had seen during our trip. There were even two riding directly after each other! This was probably my car crazy cousin’s highlight of our visit in London haha. It definitely was a nice ending to our weekend and we had a pleasant flight back to the Netherlands.

Germany and the Netherlands
My second trip for the summer of 2017 was to Germany and the Netherlands. I visited a lot of family and also traveled to several different cities such as Hamburg, Rotterdam and Amsterdam. I am not going to write much about this trip (kind of tired after finishing writing about Paris) but here are a few things I visited and experienced:
In Hamburg I got to visit the Modelleisenbahn Wunderland, which was spectacular. I think I have always secretly wanted to buy an entire house just to fill it with model trains. I always loved playing with Lego when I was little (to be honest, I still enjoy it. Let’s be real, Architecture Lego is just an excuse for adults to play with Lego again and I love it) and Modelleisenbahn Wunderland was like a dream come true. I was so impressed of how big it was! And the details!! INSANE. My plan B for career choice is to become a model train builder. This wonderland contained different sceneries, most which portrayed a certain country. The construction of it all was amazing and we found so many funny details, some of which were really small it almost felt like an instant inside joke. I definitely recommend everyone I know to visit it. Worth the title of wonderland for sure.
I like Hamburg a lot, even if I have only visited the city a few times and probably have only seen a minimal part of the city. It is very beautiful, and the harbour is of course a very impressive attribute. Definitely a city I could see myself living in. I continued to the Netherlands where I got to visit both Rotterdam and Amsterdam, two cities I like a lot for very different reasons. Rotterdam is a very new and lively city with the weirdest architecture I have ever seen. Harmony is something most cities would strife for, but in Rotterdam when constructing a new building they probably looked at the surroundings and thought: “Hey, what can we design that will look as different and contrasting as possible to this environment?”. Fair enough, this makes the city look very modern and it is very cool to just walk around and see the different buildings. Amsterdam in contrast gives a much more organised and older feeling. The structure of the canals going in like a half moon is great and it is very nice to walk through the city and over all the bridges. It is also definitely worth it to take a tour by boat through the canals. This time in Amsterdam I actually got to ride a bike there for the first time which was both scary and fun. There are A LOT of cyclists, cars trying to maneuver around all the cyclists as well as they can and me trying to see as much as possible of the views we rode past while trying to navigate through traffic and trying to follow my crazy fast cousin.
I always enjoy coming to both Germany and the Netherlands and really hope that I in the future can take my time to actually travel both countries and explore them more thoroughly.

Paris - Day Twelve
And at last, our last day in Paris had arrived. We woke up on time and ate breakfast. We packed the last of our things and prepared to leave the room, washing the dishes and cleaning up after ourselves. To finish the last of our food, we suffered through the awful lunch of just pasta and lentils. A lunch that not only twisted our stomachs, but also made us late for our bus to the airport. We ran with our suitcases through the streets of Paris, but luckily made it on time. The trip to the airport was very quiet and calm, with air-conditioning that was much appreciated. We arrived at the airport and there were a lot of people there. Not entirely unexpected on a Friday during summer vacation. Using the last of our coins, we chose to buy something sweet from a vending machine and ended up with some kind of Nutella baguette. Basically, a crispy kind of bar, filled with Nutella. What could go wrong?
We walked to our gate, still having lots of time to spare. We each bought ourselves a “Swedish sandwich” which had meatballs and a weird but tasty tomato filling. While waiting to board, I once again played some games on my phone while Katrina read the New York Times. I felt terribly incompetent, but still stuck to my phone hahaha. We boarded our flight and the first stage of our trip towards Amsterdam was really pleasant. At Schiphol Airport I bought a bottle of Chocomel, something I had been craving for two weeks. Katrina had heard my complaints of not being able to buy and probably thought that it was annoying. But I let her try it and she understood why I would want such a specific thing, she thought it was delicious. We boarded our next plane that took us back to Sweden. My time in Paris was incredible and it all thanks to Katrina. I really loved the city and going there with an amazing friend made the trip a thousand times better. I really hope to make many travels like this one in the future, to really be able to take my time to discover new places. Visiting Paris really got me hyped up for traveling and was a great start for my traveling plans of 2017. I really want to thank Katrina for inviting me on this trip and making it as great as it was. I hope we can return to see the “Napoleon at the Saint-Bernard Pass“ painting, eat at Tis Jos again, spend at least three days in Musée de l’Armée and comfortably sit in Le Jardin du Luxembourg and read our favourite books, listening to our favourite music.
