Ch. 21 of Words are Gonna Bleed from Me is up!
“Aren’t you supposed to be at a funeral?” Wei Wuxian asks.
The LanlingJin soldier holding his right arm smacks him for it, but not before he catches what looks like fear flashing in Meng Yao’s eyes.
Meng Yao turns to someone and snaps, “Why is he still allowed to speak?”
Fuck.
~Or:
The trap snaps shut, catching far more than Wei Wuxian is prepared to lose.

ok before i fall asleep i want to get something out of my system. there is this parallel I've been thinking about, a certain combination of characters that we meet twice in the story:
- the blind man. he's righteous and upright. the blind man loves the murderer and believes that he knows him better than anyone else, both the good parts and the bad parts.
- the murderer. he loves the blind man, as genuine as he can. he sincerely shows the blind man his real face, just not all of it. he loves the blind man, but not enough to stop being the murderer.
- the pretender. they know who the murderer really is, but pretend to be blind to survive. telling the truth to the blind man is risking too much, so they're waiting patiently to lead somebody else to the murderer.
even the endings of both stories are kinda similar. the murderer dies, the blind man's soul shatters.
ps. just realised there is a 4th character, who loves the blind man, but loses to the murderer, and gets turned into a fierce corpse or vengeful spirit or both. he gets to make the final strike when the murderer is defeated.
anyway. fun. good night!
