GUMROAD IS BANNING NSFW CONTENT IN THE NEXT 24 HOURS

I haven't seen anyone talk about this yet, so I might as well.

They've updated their content policy to comply with payment processor Stripe and Paypal's censorhip. They gave 24 hours. On March 16th 2024, Gumroad TOS will no longer allows sales of any written or drawn nsfw content.

This is going to hurt for so many creators. Giving that little time leaves people's source of income wildly unstable, especially with such a huge overhaul of what content is allowed.

I hate this. I hate what censorship is turning the internet into. I hate that nsfw content creators keeo getting pushed to the fringes, that they need to digitally migrate so often, because nowhere can be trusted to allow their art for long.

I don't know what to do next, there isn't some sort of "here's what you can do to help!" People just deserve to know.

Y'know thinking back on my job at Regional Pharmacy Chain, that was a super messed up environment. Things like people bleeding on product (and us just wiping it down and putting it back out), Having to work during heavy wildfire smoke, and quite possibly supplying people with burner phones are all not good things to have to deal with, even in a retail job

One time during my highschool chemistry class we were doing a lab on esters and we literally made the stuff that smells like artificial banana. However, because it was a chem lab we made a fair bit of it (among other compounds) so that we could continuously smell it and take notes.

And because we had made so much of it, the smell was so intense that my sensory seeking ass (who loves usually strong smells) had to actively leave the table for a few moments to catch my breath.

Idk if it was just my brain being evil or a result of oxygen deprivation from banana smell, but the most vile thought crept into my mind. An idea so heinous that even I was like "what in the actual fuck, brain!"

Basically the idea was as follows "If someone seriously wrongs you, synthesize a lot of the banana ester (or unpleasant fragrance compound of your choice) then find a vent or other opening that is inconvenient to access and pour that shit in there"

(Note: I am like 99.99% sure that this is very illegal, so don't do it.)
