shock horror im on a binge of character ref shit but this time i have an excuse!! i wanted to compare character heights,, uHm but im also generally struggling with severe burn out, i will maybe post some wip stuff but idk

ANYWAY first one is charlotte after the first major story (first part in a two book series) she has lil bells strung with her boot laces and tons of lil braids from mel, whenever they become upset they find it soothing to braid charlottes hair :)) i will most likely make an alt outfits ref for her; nightgown during inciting incident, chapters 1-2; basic skirts, shawls, and shirts for mid teenage years and chapters following 2 but less worn as rising action builds; basically this shown outfit minus her shoulder pad (used to compress a wound from climax) and the vial of the blood of her matron deity (called "gilded moth's blood" in the overworld, think of it as a philosopher's stone type thing!)

as for evelyn! she has gone through so many changes!! ive been kinda struggling with figuring her out so that she stands as her own when in the presence of charlotte, tonnie, and mel. tonnie and mel are very solid in their presences-- tonnie is loud, boisterous, and loving, and mel is reserved, sarcastic, and highly attentive. evelyn has always just been a worrier. and while this is still a major part of her role in the story, i dont want her to only be worried. im thinking (and im finding success in this path!) that ev works well as someone who is stern and outwardly cold to strangers. but once you know her, she is doting and loving, but she is still grounded her beliefs and steadfast in her values.

antoinette and mel will be completed shortly! (hopefully) and im thinking i will post a wip of one of my animated projects that ive been chipping away at! oke thank you for staying for my rambles i appreciate it

bottom character is The White Dove, also sometimes referred to as Lucille. she is the creator of all animal life in The Thickets (sort of limbo place for the dead and entities) but she doesnt really care for the quality of life of others and those around her. she does what she does because she is fascinated by the science of it and is trying to figure out the Bog Mother of Foelksnir (living entity creating the forest, like the bawg from crashlands!!) and its influence over all realms, not to do good or something. girlfriend doesnt feel sympathy, she is rather antisocial and is only invested in her work

Lucille is the reason Charlotte has the physical and spiritual attributes that are not native to humans, and she is more than eager to get a good look at the child she had a part in designing (Bog Mothers blood >:) )

i think imma stop making character sheets for right now. i keep finishing them and then immediately completely changing the characters design :') like apharos isnt just stinky pig man with a loincloth anymore, mans has a shawl, chains, bells, and random nick nacks all over him and his fur design is much more complicated and just different

this is winston, a character of mine in blackthorne, sweetbrier :) winston knows all things at all times, but because he is a cat, no one knows to listen. winston appears on every. single. object. i come in contact with. paperwork? definitely, multiple winstons for these. any whiteboard? with permission, of course. things that need to be identified as mine (water bottles, lab equipment, etc) absofuckinlutely.

WIP!!

currently reworking mel a little bit! actually a lot bit, as im completely redoing their relationship with their special interest as well as the interest itself. it used to be insects, specifically cicadas. this in and of itself isnt bad or anything, but ive been thinking that their relationship with charlotte and evelyn would be bolstered and more personal if their interest was astronomy based, constellations. the sclera of charlottes fucked up right eye is reminiscent of a colorful galactic scene with specks of stars and clouds in it. charlotte is also the first person mel has met that they feel safe around, that they know understands them for them, and also is invested in their journey in life. its a little obvious in a symbolic sort of way that mel has found a kindred spirit in charlotte. as for charlotte, she has found an enduring pine amongst the wildfires surrounding her, and a person who knows her better than herself

uuuuuuuhhhhhhhhh as for the actual design changes, mels style has completely shifted as well. they now keep their hair up and wear thin, heavy materials and lots of jewelry. they like mostly blacks, blues, and purples, as they are always cold and take the opportunity the sun gives for warmth :))

With vanilla extract being a meme, I wanted to share some black history of Edmond Albius a black slave who revolutionized vanilla pollination.

He used a technique he learned of pollinating melons to polinate the orchids to create the vanilla beans. Vanilla was rare and a luxury mainly due to only being able to be pollinated by its natural pollinator in Mexico.

unfortanely, he didnt receive any money for his discovery despite being called the main man who revolutionized pollination, he died in poverty...

im actually working on things other than character sheets i swear lmao

this is apharos! hes the main antagonist for the first section of my story. oc lore time!!!! the barlowe family is an incredibly close-knit and prideful bunch. very, very few individuals have ever moved away from the barlowe homestead when they settled in modern day midwest america, making the entity of the family as a whole potent and somewhat closed minded. the very first generation to grow up in their new home in america was especially centered on the family staying together, no matter the costs. part of this meant the older family members had an authoritarian grip on the rest of the family, making sure no one stepped out of line. a girl of the first generation, brighid, had "betrayed" the family (i will not say what she did here). in the eyes of her siblings and elders, she had tarnished their good name and was deserving of severe punishment. brighid didnt go down without a fight, the damage she caused and chaos she spurred left them infuriated, embarrassed, and eventually terrified of her. she was killed in a gruesome way and buried beneath an apple tree. because of the circumstances of her death, and the barlowes are always in close contact with the spirit world, they became convinced she would come back, either as a beast or a child, to enact her revenge. brighid had a dark freckle below the outer corner of her left eye. it was a trait that would appear every so often in the succeeding generations, sealing the fate of the child bearing it.  obviously, child murder is kind of a thing people dont want to admit to partaking it. so, over time, the barlowes manufactured their own kind of "boogeyman" as an easy explanation to themselves and the victims siblings, naming him apharos. with enough time and energy, apharos became a proper, identifiable entity. his sole purpose in existence was to keep the shame brighid inadvertently brought to the barlowes a secret, and extinguish anyone who (whether correctly or not) wanted to forgive her or allow a "reincarnation" another chance at the life they ended.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO that was a lot!! sorry for info dumping, i love talking about my characters even though not too many people have the time or will to listen to me word vomit :' ) uuuuuh some notes on his design!- being that he is sorta just an animal with opposable thumbs, he doesnt understand too many complex things (or at least puts that image out). he struggles with existence and is often time overwhelmed with depression or in a manic state. he likes bottles! being that the bodies of water in the overworld and belkar are connected, he is able to collect any garbage that passes through, and has taken a shine to empty bottles, hanging them on the pines of his terf to listen to the wind blow through them
