Throwback to this shit because it didn’t get less ridiculous in retrospect. For context I didn’t come out to them as anything during the first interview round. (Tried to pass as cis,NT,straight by omission.)
We created a diversity position for you specifically. You can do unboxing videos, be clueless about what the products are and it’s gonna be great fun 🙃.
Unfortunately, you have to understand that we can’t pay you much. You would work full-time hours for us and receive money, wouldn’t that be great? It would be less than an internship salary though.
Also you would gave to sign off your rights to your content to us, both in video and written form. You would have to agree to try every single product on camera on your own skin.
For that purpose you would have to sign in as per contract that you are obliged to show as much skin as necessary for the task at hand. We hope that is okay for …like…people “like you” right?
It’s going to be hilarious, people will love it, we’re trying a new thing where we try to make people laugh with our socials.
Dear make-up company. My application was for another position. Fuck you for even trying to exploit my labour. Fuck you all for repeatedly calling me “one of your lot”, “your sorts” and “types like you” in the interview process. Fuck you for coming up with even the IDEA to put a horrified twenty-something on your socials with the sole purpose of RIDICULE to their gender and identity for marketing purposes.
Go fuck yourself with a cactus, all of you
- sincerely, a several years older me.
My underemployed ADD enby ass can‘t belive this!
Applied to an Onlinemarketing position 4 Beauty Product Company X. Got an interview, it went well. I specifically asked if it is required to be into hair/make-up. They said no, it‘s not.
They called and demanded a second video chat interview: on the spot, almost no preparation (4 hrs) and I had to bootstrap an „interview space“ at my current work. I was looking like shit and was rather tired as fuck after a full day of work. It didn‘t go as well...
I didnt get the position, I „don‘t fit in with the rest of the team“. Pretty sure that is due to me asking why they don‘t hire more men or people who are less the make-up addict type.
Context: Im nonbinary and make-up has always made me feel super disphoric 🙃
They called me yet again yesterday and offered me a freelance job as a ....
hold on.....
....beauty blogger.
Because supposedly they need non-conventional viewpoints on it. WTF?
My enby ass is trying to think how to turn them down in the most „fuck you“ way possible. Like not good enough because too weird/gay/enby for your team? Yet you want to profit from who I am as a person? WTF company X!

“Judith Butler’s particular de-essentializing strategy helps pose the problem in an acute form. “Woman,” in her view, is something one can never fully be, because there are no natural women. The illusion of a natural binarism of gender categories into “woman” and “man” is the result of repetitive (and panicked) performances of a unity between body, gender, and (heterosexual) desire. One consequence of this view is that neither femininity nor masculinity naturally belong to a particular sex. The illusion that femininity belongs to women in a way masculinity does not is simply the result of the compulsoriness of that particular gender performance for women. But it is open to women to perform otherwise. The “mannish” lesbian is, on this reading, neither imitating a man (because there is no real or natural man to imitate) nor necessarily being unwomanly. Butler notes that “in acting in a masculine way, she changes the very meaning of what it is to be a woman; indeed, she expands the meaning of what it means to be a woman to include a cultural possibility that it previously excluded.””
— The gender closet: lesbian disappearance under the sign “women.” by Chesire Calhoum.

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it a thousand more times: No piece of dystopian fiction has ever been a prediction of the future. They are observations and criticisms of the present.

The dominant ideas of who is “healthy” and what “health” looks like is ridiculous. In a society where fat people are demonized, people of color’s physical pain is minimized, trans people are medicalized, and disabled people are ridiculed – not to mention that all of the boundaries between “normal” and “not normal” are socially constructed – you cannot call someone “unhealthy” by looking at them.
“Healthy” isn’t thin, white,  male, able-bodied, cisgender, heterosexual, dieting, controlled. Healthy is alive. Healthy is eating. Healthy is hydrating. Healthy is supported. Healthy is Human.
Examine how the ideas of “health” have impacted your wellbeing. Examine the ways in which the bodily norm does or does not match your bodymind. Examine whether the medical profession has historically cared enough about your communities’ lives to define what makes you “healthy.”
It’s not just body positivity – it’s humanity.

things that should be completly normal:
not going to uni
taking as much time as needed before going to uni
changing your majors many times before finding what you like
changing your career path
not knowing what you want
attending a community college
valuing your health over your grades

do men have resting bitch faces as well or do they not have negative characteristics ascribed to them for putting on a neutral rather than a deliriously happy facial expression
