This horrendously long post is spot on and touches on ideas that I have thought as well. Although it's fun to imagine the exciting antics and loud romantic gestures Tamaki and the twins would create in their relationship with Haruhi, her personality and character doesn't match for such a life.
One reason why I love this ship so much is that is gives Haruhi rest while also giving Mori freedom.
Haruhi has had to manage her father as a child both emotionally and financially. She grew up putting others first; taking care of others, considering their wants and needs first, and depriving herself if it means helping another (for example; I'm sure Haruhi wanted her father to attend the Bring Your Parent to School Day but she set aside her want to let her father catch up on sleep instead, no matter how much it disappointed her, because she saw her father needed sleep more than going to her school for an event she may had been excited for).
Tamaki is as eccentric and impulsive as her father, never really worrying about the consequences of his actions if they make him feel good. He would need someone to help him keep his feet on the ground while also not extinguishing the creative flame that burns inside him. Although Haruhi is wise and practical, I feel a better companion for Tamaki would be Renge (for many, many reasons other than this).
If Haruhi is to spend the rest of her life with someone it should be a person who doesn't consistently add stress with their unpredictable antics and firecracker charisma that constantly clashes with her lethargic nature. Although Haruhi is used to this because of her father, why should she settle down with Tamaki simply because she knows how to tolerate him?
Mori would provide the stability and consistency she craves.
As for Mori, Haruhi would be a lovely match for him since she'd allow him to devote himself to his family without standing in the way of his convictions. Haruhi wouldn't see Hunny as competition for Mori's attention but rather an extension of Mori. Haruhi never intervenes in their friendship but rather allows it to be what it has always been. The other girls at Ouran seem to treat Hunny as the "other woman" in their fantasies, thinking if they want Mori they'd have to thin or sever their bond entirely. However Haruhi doesn't see their friendship as an obstacle but rather an anchor in both men's characters.
If Mori were to be with Haruhi, their relationship wouldn't take away from his friendship with Hunny. It would add to it, in fact. Haruhi enjoys talking to Hunny, especially after realizing he is much more wise and intelligent than he leads on, and Mori wouldn't have to sacrifice his own convictions.
In doing so, Mori would be free to love Haruhi with everything he can offer; mind, soul, and body. He wouldn't have to compromise who he is to satisfy Haruhi because who he is is more than enough to make Haruhi happy. His desire for tranquility and security also speaks to Haruhi.
Many people don't like this ship because it's not as exciting as the others. This ship is "boring", based off a more mature love. But the way I see it, Mori and Haruhi are essentially "boring" characters. They don't crave the thrills and excitement in the same way their friends do. They like to have fun but in their own way, where Haruhi feels taken care of and respected and Mori feels free to be himself.
This is just one of the reasons I enjoy this ship so much. I could honestly write a short novel about them but that's borderline insane so I'll just reblog posts with my thoughts here and there -
⚠️Ignore this post if you’re not interested in Ouran High School Host Club
Just giving a fair warning^
because this is gonna be a very long post. And I’m typing it up on mobile so idk how to add keep reading or if it’s even possible here.
⚠️⚠️Long post⚠️⚠️
Also sorry if any theme here is repeated to the point of being either boring or annoying I don’t really know how to construct my thoughts out loud.
So, I’m rewatching ouran for probably the 20th time now, and every time I rewatch I just get a little more obsessed with Mori and Haruhi as a ship. Like, realistically they’re the only pairing that makes sense in the long term. If haruhi were to marry any of the hosts he’d be the only one that would have the gentle stability and calm that haruhi would likely want in a relationship. She already has enough hyperactivity and boundary pushing from her dad that tamaki, being the same sort of person as her dad, would get just plain annoying in a relationship rather fast. Haruhi had to grow up and become hyper-independent really quickly after her mom died because her dad wasn’t around much bc of working long and odd hours and when he was she wanted to take care of him because of his working hard to support them. So because of that she’d need someone who can be relied on without being overbearing. Someone to help her whenever she needs it, (without having to be severely micromanaged or having her boundaries or patience tested) and would help her without any sort of expectations of praise or reward for doing so, because we all know tamaki (and the twins) would at least expect a little praise or affection as a reward and I just can’t see haruhi as being able to continuously give that without getting major burn out.
Mori is kind of the only one that would be able to be an equal partner in a relationship, who would actually listen to her wants and needs and figure out ways to help accommodate them on his own, instead of another thing for haruhi to manage. And haruhi in her own right would put just as much effort into listening and accommodating him and his interests as he would toward her. She would go to the library to find a book on taking care of some new animal he found and wanted to help before any issues with not knowing how to care for it came up. And he would be the type to learn more about cooking and recipes so as to sit with her while she cooks and taste test any new recipes and be able to give constructive criticism or just nice suggestions without unhelpful flattery or being careless with the criticism and unintentionally being a little rude about it. They could definitely just do basic mundane things together and both find it kind of relaxing.
Like, I know that in the manga they all change and mature a bit but I just can’t see tamaki or either of the twins maturing enough to be compatible with her in the long run. And I also know that in a relationship they would act differently than out in public but again, I just can’t see it being enough to be sustainable for them as couples.
And this isn’t even bringing up that, because of the stark contrast of their personalities, kyoya and Hani wouldn’t really be romantic options for her in the first place. Adult life brings a lot of issues that cause stress to be taken home and I don’t particularly see haruhi as the type to want to talk it out right away, instead preferring to just push it back until the thing that’s causing the stress resolves or until it gets too much to push into the back of her mind. And because of kyoya’s need to know things in order to help in his own rather cold way would lead to him prying it out of her before she wants to talk about it or running weird background checks into her colleagues or law school classmates if they dated later into her education and other weird behind the scenes investigation into what could possibly be going on with her that, if she found out about, would make her rather upset and possibly feeling like her privacy was violated. Which, it would be but he can’t really help the way he is because of the pressure he grew up with from his father made him that way as a method to try to get ahead, but old habits die hard and would probably be very hard for him to break. And it wouldn’t be a good situation for either of them really (Which I don’t think he’d really be interested in her either). And Hani has his spooky witchy girlfriend, late on wife, from the black magic club and I’m obsessed with that.
And not even just from haruhi’s perspective would the pairings not be sustainable long term but for tamaki and the twins too. Tamaki and the twins are definitely physical touch love language sort of guys and haruhi, from all we see, is not at all. And tamaki especially would probably be way too clingy physically for haruhi to tolerate after a while. And all of them need way more therapy and words of affirmation than haruhi can provide because using your s/o as a therapist, even without realizing it, is not okay in any way and would place way too much burden on both parties in the relationship and could likely taint not just the relationship but any hope of friendship if the relationship ended because of it. The only host club boys that don’t need a lot of therapy are Hani and Mori, they both, reasonably, seem to have had fairly good upbringings as evidenced by how close both them and their brothers are to each other. Hani and yasuchika have a weird relationship but it doesn’t seem to be anything beyond sibling rivalry (on chika’s part) and just normal strain that comes from one sibling being a bit pressured and stand-offish that finds their sibling weird (the cake night things) and is something a lot of siblings grow out of. And Mori and his brother, Satoshi, are pretty close from what I’ve seen, and Satoshi, I believe, looks up to his brother and is very comfortable with Takashi. Both things implying that they had fairly normal families by host club standards, albeit a bit pressured to do well by both families, and the added pressure on, specifically, Yasuchika’s part of wanting to be better than his brother.
So really the only one, realistically, that wouldn’t require an extreme amount of effort to make the relationship work that, because of Haruhi’s ambitions and work ethic, wouldn’t be able to put into the relationship as much as would be needed to last, would be Mori. Now I’m not saying Haruhi couldn’t develop feelings for the main three boys folks tend to ship her with, she absolutely could, but it’s too much for any of their relationships to last long term and be stable, healthy relationships.
And this may be weird but I genuinely love all the characters and only want the best for them, meaning they all deserve someone that isn’t hard to maintain a relationship with. But, to be very specific, Tamaki needs a relationship with somebody who, not only tolerates his need to feel like somebody’s prince or knight in shining armor, but welcomes it. Because Tamaki’s wants and ideals that he keeps projecting onto haruhi through daydreams, throughout the anime at least, aren’t attainable with Haruhi. He needs a partner who has ambitions and isn’t afraid to reign him in like Haruhi but that would still be okay with being a very loving, doting wife in a rather traditional sense and would be okay with having a big happy family like Tamaki would very likely want since he lacked it in his youth.
I am very sorry this was a horrendously long post but I just love thinking about their characters and dynamics.
On another note, if you’ve made it to the end of this god awful long post, and would like to hear more of my thoughts on Mori and Haruhi in a future relationship/marriage please ask me about it, I’ve got way too many thoughts to keep confined to just my brain.

Exactly this 🤌🏼💙❤️
It's been more than ten years since Ouran High School Host Club anime ended. Also with no news of a second season, I reread the manga quite a few times. With each read, I also developed a new ship. When I first read it, my ship was Tamaki x Haruhi. And then on one of my reread, it was Hikaru x Haruhi. One reread made me think of a Kyoya x Haruhi possibility. There were also Kaoru x Haruhi ship moments during these reads. But do you know what ship remained after all these rereads? Mori x Haruhi :') I finally admit my ultimate ship from OHSHC.
Takashi Morinozuka and Haruhi Fujioka
Mori who instantly helped her
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Haruhi who was intrigued by him
Tumblr media
Haruhi who got conscious of him saying her name
Tumblr media
Mori who is soft towards her
Tumblr media
Just any cute moment between them

And that one chapter where Mori sort of hit on her ;)

Ahhhhh this pair will always have my heart

Takashi's birthday is soon, doing anything special? 👀
Forgive me, I actually forgot his birthday is so soon 😖 (please don't tell him).
I'd like to celebrate his birthday, even if it's sharing a few appreciation posts or reblogging old birthday headcanons. I'll have to start brainstorming now 😳 thank you for the heads up 😅

"My devious little tanuki"...
Please 🥺😣 everything about this is so cute! Plus, they got busy! We love a big happy family with so many uncle and grandpas ready to spoil these little ones! 🥺🥰
Distraction: MoriHaru
Granted, this is not good, and barely proofread. but an office au gets me like nothing else 😩
-
Ouran High School Host Club
Takashi Morinozuka x Haruhi Fujioka
Office AU, established relationship
-
Takashi sorely needed a distraction when someone knocked on his office door, and when his wife walked in with a freshly brewed tea, his wish was granted.
“You seemed like you needed a refresher,” Haruhi explained as she closed the door behind her. The click-clack of her heels broke the monotony of the fan perched upon his desk as she drew closer. “You looked like you were about to fall asleep in that meeting. Keeping the other board members on their toes, I see.”
Her husband chuckled, always amused at how she knew what he was thinking. He could raise an eyebrow or flex a certain way and she could immediately diagnose what was plaguing his mind. Such empathy and ability to read minds made her a good lawyer--and a good wife and mother.
“Thank you,” he mumbled, taking the drink with a humble nod of the head. Steam fogged up his glasses, so he took them off, laying them on his desk without decorum. He hated wearing them--contacts were much preferred--but on nights with little sleep and days with even littler time to moan and mope, there was no way his eyes could handle it.
Haruhi watched him lean back in his chair, rolling and cracking his neck with lackluster enthusiasm. Running their own law firm was difficult, but parenthood had made it twice the struggle. Since she had given birth to their fourth less than six months ago, he had insisted on carrying most of the burden of raising their children, and it had taken its toll. His gray eyes, though still full of love, had lost their sparkle; though they looked at her with adoration, they were red-rimmed with exhaustion.
Luckily, she knew exactly how to fix that.
“You’ve been so tired recently,” she whispered, walking behind him and running her hands over his shoulders. His muscles were tight enough to snap under her fingers, refusing to flex even as she poked and prodded. The starch of his suit offered no help. “Take off your jacket, Taka.”
“Not nearly as tired as you,” he said, but obeyed, arching to slip the navy off and draping it against the back of his chair. “You’re the one who just delivered another child.”
“Yes, but it’s been a while.” He hummed as she dug her thumbs into his shoulderblades. “I’m recovered. The baby is in daycare, now, but the other three are still rough-and-tumble with you as their target.”
Takashi bit back a moan as she worked out a particularly deep knot at the base of his neck. The tea, the dark, rainy day outside, his wife’s soothing voice and hands...he could have fallen asleep right there. “I’ll be fine. It’s you I should worry about, still catching up on your old cases. I shouldn’t have let them give you so much right before you went on leave.”
She smirked at his clenching fists, proof her magic was working. “I’ve popped out four of your huge babies. I’ve dealt with paperwork more painful than the last. I’m fine.”
He rested his head back against her abdomen, where she had so recently carried his son. It amazed him, truly, how she could create and nurture a human life over the course of a year and bounce back so quickly. Then again, this was his Haruhi; everything she did defied the impossible.
Worrying for him was the last thing he wanted on her mind. “Please,” he said softly, reaching up to take her hand. She lowered it to his face, caressing her knuckles against the taut skin of his jawline. “I don’t want you worrying for me.”
“But you do everything concerning the kids and the firm,” she replied. Her voice soured with insecurity. “I don’t want you to burn out. We are partners, not only in this business, but in life. Our employees need both their bosses; our children need both their parents.” She shrugged her other hand through his hair. “And we need to spend more time together. I know you are just trying to give me a break, but I’m not going to stand by and watch as you burn the candle at both ends and end up scorching your palms.”
Takashi turned and kissed her hand, taking a swig of tea. She was right, as usual. He had learned better than to argue with another lawyer. “As you wish, my love,” he whispered, pressing another kiss to the ring adorning her finger.
“So that is why you’re going to leave work early, go out for dinner with Mitsukuni, and when you get home, you and I are going to have some nice drinks, a hot, candlelit bath, and a long, deep sleep.”
Takashi shot up to face her, disbelief written in the lines on his forehead. “That’s not possible,” he said. “I have to take Mako to her soccer game, and we haven’t hired a sitter--”
“Taken care of.” Haruhi grabbed his jacket and pushed it into his hands. “After Mako’s game the kids are having a sleepover with the Suohs, and Dad said he would take Umake for the weekend. He missed having a fussy baby, apparently.” After more urging, he slipped on his jacket, mind stuck on tired airplane mode. “Now go.”
“Mitsukuni…?”
“Has a table reserved at six. Now go home, one of the interns can take care of the rest of the paperwork.”
“But you’re picking Umake up from daycare, how can you watch Mako’s game? Who will watch Isao and Mari?”
Haruhi chuckled and pushed his back, urging him to move. “Tamaki will be there with his own little ones. Fairly sure that between me and him and all the other parents on-site, I can hold a baby on my hip and keep track of two toddlers while my other kid plays soccer.” She swatted his butt, a playful jab that always spurred him to action. “Now go. You’ll be late.”
Takashi turned for his computer. “My files--”
“I’ll save them. Go, Taka.”
By now she had successfully prodded him to his office door, only by his own sheer dumbfoundedness that revoked his ability to resist. He quickly resumed brain function, glancing down at her and grinning. “You did all of this behind my back.”
“It’s the only way to keep you from noticing.”
He lowered the shades to his window before grabbing her by the waist. With energy he hadn’t felt since teenagehood he nuzzled against the top of her head, nearly lifting her out of her high heels. “My devious little tanuki,” he chided, kissing her deeply, enough to ensure her lipstick was now smeared onto his skin.
“Always and forever,” she giggled, lightheaded with passion.
When they kissed again, he lifted her with enough strength to have her toes slightly dangling in the air, watching the blush sprawl across her cheeks with half-closed eyes. His strong, steady hand kept her pressed close to his core as his other snaked dangerously close to her bum. Up off the ground, she wound her arms around his neck and held on for dear life, fingers buried in his hair and the collar of his shirt. He couldn’t even remember the last time they had made out like teenagers--but she was right; it was a luxury they should indulge in more often.
Takashi lowered her back down to the ground, smirking as she tried to unsuccessfully straighten her wrinkled skirt. “Have I told you I love you lately?” he asked.
“Every single day,” she replied, crinkling her nose. “Now go. You have more of that waiting for you tonight.”
Hmm, he thought. Maybe I should get distracted more often.
As he exited his office with one final kiss, Haruhi turned around and began tidying up his desk. She gathered the proper paperwork, sorted his files, and had just shut down his computer when she saw the paper cup left behind on the coaster, what had set this whole idea into motion:
He forgot his damn tea.
