Fox | he/she
I had horrible dreams last night. Familiar feelings about numbers and secrets made my chest hurt first thing in the morning. It was dreary, too, all day.
The one good thing was that I got to watch a butterfly hatch out of a cocoon this afternoon. It was nestled in the lilac bush. Even if it was just for a few moments, it made me feel a bit lighter.

I was right. He was that robin's chick. I was able to return him, but it all happened so fast and it was so scary, it's hard to remember...
But no, luckily she hadn't pushed him out! I do remember her saying that one was particularly rambunctious and that she'd been saying he was going to fall out of the nest sooner or later.
I remember she was furious when she saw me, and almost started shrieking again, but I quickly held the chick up to her. So many emotions flashed through her eyes, I broke into a cold sweat. Everything after that is hazy.
But I do remember her briskly thanking me, between her flustered rambles. I wonder if things will be different now?

Today I found a baby bird on the bank of the creek! The poor thing was soaked and shivering cold. I took it back to my den, and have since dried it off, and fed it a little cooled porridge. It was very happy to eat, and is now fast asleep, so I think it'll be alright.
However, there is a problem... It's a baby robin. At this spot, downstream, I have a terrible feeling it might be the baby of the robin that shouted at me the other day...
What should I do? If I try to return it, she's likely to cuss me up and down, maybe even tell others that I stole the chick. Or, what if she's so relieved, she treats me kindly? It's not impossible, but it is hard to believe. Or, what if she threw the chick out herself? Birds always have good reasons for doing so. I might just upset her by trying to return it. She was nasty to me, but that's no reason to make her relive something like that.
The worst part is that I can't even do anything now. It's already dark out, it'd do no one any good, whatever the outcome, to do anything at this hour.
It's sleeping so soundly, I'm worried the whisper of my pen will wake it...

Fox | he/she
Fox sipped her darjeeling as she peered out her fox hole at the rain.
She'd spent the morning admiring herself in the mirror. First right out of bed, then in her bright green pinafore. It made little sense to her, why she liked herself so much, when most of the other animals were afraid of her. Perhaps it was because she had always been kind to herself.
When the rain stopped, the sun was about to set. Fox sought out the lilac bush. She sat beneath it as the sun turned golden, taking in the smell of the wet earth and the sweet purple flowers, enjoying his own company.
Back in her den, as she settled down to sleep, she couldn't help but notice the sudden silence in the dark. If she were to call out, no one would answer. Even now, after so long, it was hard to get used to. She nestled deeper beneath the covers and assured herself it wouldn't be so silent in the morning.
"Would you stop stepping in front of me? It's hard to bake when you do that," she complained. Indeed it wasn't so quiet at all. If anything, it was a bit louder than she'd prefer. "How do you even know what I'm making? You came in halfway through!"
"Because you make the same thing whenever you're upset," he laughed. "And you get upset a lot."
"And how would you know that?" she snipped, for he was the only one she could ever snip at. He just cocked a brow, and took her hands to finish the prep.
She grumbled the thought before he even had time to say it, "You can't do everything yourself..."
A couple days later, Fox had run into Nancy Mouse again. She had asked a few more particularly nosy questions, about Fox's 'bargaining with nature'. But, for the most part, Fox brushed her off, instead showing her where to find leaves that would make a stomach ache go away if one chewed on them.
"I don't think you should be talking to her so much."
The question was so sudden, Fox nearly dropped her basket as she stepped into her den.
"Why not?"
"She'll just get scared and spread more rumours about you. It's more trouble than it's worth," he complained.
"You said the same thing about Skunk and he's wonderful!" she snipped.
"'Wonderful'... Friends who disappear are 'wonderful', are they?" But Fox rolled her eyes. She knew he meant well, but also that there was no convincing him, so she ate another blueberry tart.
And so the days went on. Some days, he was particularly kind and gentle, and others, particularly suspicious and reclusive. Some days, she was adventurous and curious, and others, timid and stubborn.
And so they'll go, with the teamwork they learned long ago.

Today I went for a walk to gather some herbs. Not long into my walk, it wasn't hard to notice someone was following me. It was that mouse that brought me the seeds (who I now know is called Nancy Mouse).
"Why do you know how to fix broken wings?" she demanded.
"Well, I know a lot of things. It's useful to know things like that."
"What fox knows how to heal a bird?"
"It's not just birds. I just know how to heal, in general."
"But why?"
She wouldn't let up, so I told her, "Because I used to be human."
She narrowed her eyes at me. About then we came to a very useful herb that I needed. I was pleased to see it hadn't flowered yet, so it'd be good to make into a tincture.
"See this? I need to collect lots of herbs and flowers and seeds, and bargain with nature so I don't turn back."
She shuddered, and stopped questioning me after that. Mice'll believe anything that scares them, even if they're sceptical.
It was nice to have company on my walk at least.

Things got very serious very quickly today. After my gardening, just as I was about to make lunch, I heard Skunk calling me out of my den again. He was all in a fuss, his fur standing on end all over!
There was a bird in The Clearing with a broken wing. It had flown into the window of a human's house and nobody knew what to do. I really didn't think it was a good idea for me to show up, but Skunk insisted. Nobody else knows how to sling a broken limb.
Then it started to rain, too.
As I thought, nobody even wanted to let me into The Clearing. They said I'd eat the bird because it couldn't fly away. Skunk told them that if I ate the bird, he'd bite my tail off. Either way, if I didn't help, the bird would die. So they let me in.
It wasn't as bad of a break as I had feared luckily. I slung the wing and gave him some dried berries from my stores. They're not particularly medicinal, but they'll give him more energy to heal. Everyone looked kind of surprised that I helped, then went home right after making sure the other animals would get him settled somewhere warm and dry.
I had to change right away. My new coat was completely soaked... There's no sense in putting anything else on now either. I'll go to bed soon to wait out the rain.

I'm really surprised; I had visitors today!
I came out of my den to find my dear friend Skunk! I hadn't seen him since last autumn! I gave him a big hug, and it was only then that I noticed the other visitor behind him.
It was one of the mice! She fidgeted awkwardly, but handed me a whole bundle of seeds from her stores! He didn't say anything, but I bet Skunk convinced her to come.
She looked really uncomfortable at first, but Skunk got right to chatting. I kept sneaking glances at her, and she seemed to settle down after a bit. She even shook my paw before she left! Well, sort of. She more... tapped it, but I'm happy nonetheless.
After I said goodbye, I got right to gardening. The mouse showed me she had brought some wildflower seeds, some dandelion fluffs, and even a few beans she'd taken from a patio garden! Maybe mice are a little more brave than I thought. Or maybe only she is. Maybe that's why Skunk was able to convince her to come.

Oh dear. On my way to The Clearing, a robin saw me and shrieked at the top of her lungs, "Fox! Fox! Get away from here! My eggs are not for you! Fox! Fox!"
What on earth did she think I was going to do?! I can't climb trees! She chased me all the way to The Clearing and everyone stared at me. A couple of squirrels even glared and twitched their noses at me. Stupid robin, she made everyone think I'd done something terrible.
But I finally managed to seek out some mice. I tried to stay a few feet away, so they wouldn't be afraid. They said they'd find me some seeds, but I'm not sure if they meant it.
I had to take a longer way home. I'm so embarrassed, I cried all the way. At least when I got there, I was calm enough to make some hot chocolate. I sat in the sun for a while and that made me feel better.
Fox | he/she
I started the morning by sweeping out my den. It's finally sunny today! The sun sinks into my fur like honey on toast, it's so lovely! I think today is the day I can finally start gardening.
But, unfortunately, I don't have any seeds. I'll have to go ask the mice.
Going to The Clearing at all is a bit awkward for me. The small animals are afraid of me, even though I bring muffins to the festivals and try my best not to grin. I don't even like muffins, to be honest, but everyone else seems to, so I've gotten really good at making them!

@stupidwittlebaby's RP sideblog
There are lots of itch.io solo RPGs I want to play, but I don't always have the creative spoons to bust out a new notebook, draw up a new character, or add on to one of my other games.
I also want a space to explore quaint fantasies, exist as my kintypes, and let my headmates be themselves without real life difficulties.
Some posts will be written with detail and flair. Some will be fictional activity log journal posts. Some might be in other languages. The setting will not be consistent.
Don't be shy to send asks in or out of character <3
