This is gonna be a short one... 

I actually felt at times while watching this, embarrassed. Like second hand embarrassment. It just felt off. But everything else was just slow and very bland. It had the rom but not the com! The plot was kinda... not even a plot it just felt like we were watching Emilia Clarke’s character struggle and race about green elf dress with smudged eyeliner for an hour. Bit of a waste really, as Emilia Clarke is quite a naturally funny individual. The script was just embarrassing and Emma Thompson’s accent...just no.

All I’m saying is: probably best to not waste your time.

What If   /  The F Word (2013)

Wallace and Chantry meet at a house party and instantly hit it off.

I decided watched this movie purely for Adam Driver because I had seen previously that he was in it, but after 30 minutes in, I was surprisingly invested in the overall plot. 

Daniel Radcliffe plays a humorous, abrupt and charismatic doctor called Wallace, to me he was very sure of himself, confident, occasionally coming off as cocky but he’s still quite likeable. Wallace meets Chantry, played by lovely Zoe Kazan (bae). Chantry is gentle, humorous and sharp, she’s an artist, an animator and big surprise: has a longterm boyfriend. 

Daniel Radcliffe and Zoe Kazan had an amazing back and forth connection and I really loved watching their characters blossom, their dialogue felt real, stupid and fun, two ‘friends’ just hanging out. The film still managed to have sweet, romantic parts with a passionate sort of suspense sprinkled throughout it but it is never cheesy or over the top like so many classic rom-coms.

You should watch it. I enjoyed it. : )
