Yellow felt so much better after saying these things out loud. She never had the chance before. She felt good, very good in fact. But some things were still off. Yes she could stay with the other on earth, but would she ever get used to living here? Would she ever be accepted here? Worst and most important of all would she not miss her home?
The Pearl was angry with her Diamond yes, she was done with being a toy that gets pushed around. But there were still changes happening on Homeworld, technically she was free. Yellow just did not know what to do with her freedom.She could stay here, but she would miss home, she would miss Blue she would miss Spinel…
“I…I don’t think I can stay here, at least not for to long. Maybe a little while but I would miss Homeworld to much..” Yellow was still unsure about everything “I was made to serve her eve if I don’t like it… But I would like to just forget about her right now…” Yellow stared pacing again, she always did when nervous, stressed or just in thought.
She stopped after a bit. “I-I just can’t decide.…I don’t want to be a toy to her anymore but I don’t think I would fit in here on earth. I also would miss Blue… But I also would like to stay for at least a bit so my Diamond finally gets that I’m free now and I don’t have to be her toy for her. Do you think that would work?”
The fact that the Pearl was still unsure about all this was...understandable. I mean, it wasn’t Peridot’s choice to get stuck on Earth--but she stayed anyway, eventually realizing she loved the planet for what it already had. Realizing that it was worth protecting.
Besides, when looking back on some of Homeworld’s customs and rules...well, it’s not exactly the best place to live. Not with all those restrictions. I mean...being made with your own purpose selected for you ahead of time? Why not just let gems choose who they want to be?
It made sense to just start off by having Yellow Pearl stay here for a bit--final decisions could be made later. I mean, either way, this was going to be a huge deal. And if she did decide to stay on Earth, it would also be a huge change.
She’d have to get adjusted to this planet, make sure she gets on good terms with the Crystal Gems...things like that. But it’s best to start out small and work your way up to a final decision.
“That’s fine--it’d be like giving this place a test run! You can stay for a bit before making any final decisions. Besides--the less time spent around Yellow Diamond, the better.”

As hidden as this place was, it wouldn’t stop Peridot from getting in. A sound came off of the Warp Pad and she looked around at the nature and old weapons. The old battlefield. Brings back some memories, huh?
While she didn’t fight in the war, she helped with technology and keeping the Kindergartens maintained--so she had some sort of role to play. In fact, she was playing a role now--searching the planet to make sure there weren’t any gems left over.
But what do you know--Rose’s Pearl was here, collecting weapons and raising an old flag into the air. Of course she was still on Earth. Having the Crystal Gems in the way would make it hard to colonize this place--they’d be there to stop the whole process.
Although...it was just one Pearl. One who went against Homeworld to fight alongside the rebels. And with Rose gone, she was on her own. She depended on Rose so much--she was practically nothing without her.
This gave Peridot a spark of confidence. Taking a few steps off the Warp Pad, but making sure to stand in a spot that gave her enough distance from the Pearl, she smirked. If this was going to come to fight, it could--but if not, that would be fine. Her mission was to check this planet and make sure it was ready to be colonized by Homeworld--by any means necessary.
“Well, well, well. If it isn’t Rose Quartz’s Pearl! I thought you would never want to come back to a place like this, considering all the bad memories it must bring up.”
Yup, she’s already trying to get on the other gem’s nerves. Classic Peridot.

The ancient Battlefield was quiet and at peace, the area being almost devoid of life besides massive tracts of overgrown plants which covered the old and mostly intact weapons. Despite the presence of the fauna upon the battlefield it seemed that nature held a reverence for the place as the place had experienced neither storm nor blizzard and (if the overgrowth weren’t there) could of easily seemed like it had been fought upon a few weeks ago. Unfortunately the area was surprisingly well hidden and no Human had come across the area to disturb to peace.
Pearl walked around the old battlefield picking up old pieces of equipment and storing them in her Gem. For a while now Pearl has come to the old battlefield in her off time and collected old pieces of equipment in order to restore them, mostly just cleaning off the rust but sometimes she had to do some repairs. This time however Pearl had found something extremely special, an intact Crystal Gem banner (it was extremely rare to even come across a damaged one considering that the flag was made out of fabric) which she proudly held high in her hand.
Such memento collecting would of usually invoked sadness (which did often occur sometimes with Pearl) but for Pearl they reminded her of the pleasant times she had with Rose and the times she had with her comrades. Besides, Pearl still felt a bit of patriotic fervor with the Crystal Gem cause.

She just…she just insulted her Diamond… Yellow could not believe what she had done just now. After staring into the sky for a bit more yellow just slumped to the ground. Still a wide stare in her eyes some tears were forming in them too.
She is as good as dead…If her Diamond ever found out. She just threw away her whole life away because she could not control her stupid emotions.But why did it feel so good to say all that? why did it feel so good to scream out what was in her head for eons now….Why did she start to cry while smiling?
She looked at the other “It means…it means I’m dead if my diamond finds out...” Yellow paused to listen to the other talk. Becoming a rebel? joining the crystal gems?….All of this seamed not real. Yellow felt numb but alive at the same time. She looked at her hands and then at the Peridot.
“Don’t be ridiculous…why would the others want me to stay here?” She got up and started to pace around “ Even If I don’t want to go back, even If I’m done being a puppet for her! even if..even if I...just want to be free…. I want…” Yellow stopped again looking around and then looking at the Peridot.
She walked over to the other and looked her directly in the eyes. “ I want to show her that I’m not an object! I’m not a toy!” yellow looked around again still unsure. But she got this far…why not go all out. “I’m done with serving her! she can do her own work!”
...Oh. Pearl’s...crying. Hm. Peridot didn’t mean to make her cry with her speech! But it made sense...it was the other gem’s purpose to serve Yellow Diamond. Going against her authority would be a huge change--and a risky one at that.
But then...then she smiled a bit. Weird. But she also admitted a few things--she didn’t want to go back to Homeworld. She didn’t want to be a servant to Yellow Diamond anymore. She wanted to prove that she was more than some object to boss around.
And that? That was inspiring. As conflicting as it was to be going against her own purpose, the Pearl clearly wanted to make this change. Peridot could tell, simply by the change in her mood and tone. Although...it would take a lot for the others to get used to her. Which...could be a problem.
Maybe she shouldn’t introduce the other gem to her friends yet. Maybe...the two of them could get acquainted first? I mean, both of them at least had one thing in common--they hated Yellow Diamond.
Before Peridot knew Pearl��s true opinion on her own Diamond, though...yeah, she didn’t really trust her too well. But maybe things could change. Maybe they could be friends. Traitors stick together, right?
“Yeah! We’ll show her! You can stay here on Earth--and without a Pearl to do things for her, that clod will have to do things on her own!”
...Unless she got a replacement Pearl, that is. But let’s not think about that.

OK, Kirby. How is that supposed to calm her down. She might think that you have no memory of anything and that you need to go to a therapist.
Wait, does the Gem homeworld even HAVE therapists? I don’t fuckin’ know. I’m not a gem!
… And what is with me getting thrown off topic all the time? UGH.
Anyways, Kirby was panicking. A lot. He needed to do something. FAST. He quickly began clinging to her arm enhancer as if to give her a hug… which, to his knowledge, always calmed everybody down.
Wait, did they even hug people on Homewor– Oh, wait. Let’s stop before I get distracted again.
“I… If it scares you so much, then you can leave it alone so I’ll do it myself!” he said, nervously. “I was the one who made it stick to me, so I should fix it!”
Kirby. Do you even realize the weight of your words.
Eh, I don’t blame him… much. After all, kids say the darnedest things sometimes.
The gem’s thoughts continued to spiral. This kid was crazy! Thinking it was ok to ask another gem to remove his own...it was unheard of! But things got worse when he insisted that he couldn’t get it out.
Well, of course not! But...he acted as if he wanted to. Peridot could barely believe what she was hearing--actually, no, she just couldn’t believe it. Not a single word. However, she seemed to be dragged back into reality when the puffball said something else.
He...he thought he could take his own gem out. Leave Peridot out of things. Leave her to watch him get himself shattered. Her eyes widened in shock and disbelief, and she tried to sit up--only to be met with more pain from her previous injuries.
Wincing from the pain, she collapsed back onto her hands and knees--er, enhancers--whatever. She remained that way for a few seconds, gritting her teeth before shakily lifting her head to look this weird gem in the eye.
“Do you...know what you just said? Basically...you’re asking me to watch you shatter yourself. And why would you want that?”
She really didn’t understand Kirby’s situation. She truly believed he was some undiscovered, potentially off-color gem who didn’t know much about himself, well...being a gem. It was like everything related to gems was wiped from his memory or something.
Which meant he wouldn’t know what ‘shattering’ was. Great. Just the topic she wanted to explain to someone who seemed like a child. Or at least childish.
“And shattering...isn’t something you come back from. It’s like...how do I put this...” She thought hard about some things she’s read on her screen over the years. The similarities between shattering and...what did humans call it? Oh yeah-- “It’d be like...dying.”
Congratulations, Peri, you’ve now most likely scarred a child for life. Now he’s gonna think he’s stuck with this gem forever unless it does get shattered. Wonderful.
