Just learned that Nowacking, the dude who voiced Vinyl Scratch in a lot of fanworks, also did Stoney Pony

Holy shit

(Vinyl Scratch was a comfort character of mine I hyperfixated on a lot, back before I got so jaded and cynical)

(Before watching animations involving Nowacking, I had my own voice for Vinyl I imagined in my head; a sort of high, gender-ambiguous rasp, as I always considered the character as nonbinary. Maybe I should learn to do that imagined voice someday.)

(Imagine if Nowacking ever wanted to do his Vinyl voice again, I happened to get popular over my Vinyl Scratch voice, and we collabed doing a dub over that argument scene in The Incredibles, where it's two Vinyls arguing. That would be funny.)

More concept doodling for that fanfic idea of mine, which places the Mane 6 in a bleak and depressing world, more like ours, but where it's an emotional, character-driven story, that puts FiM's values to its limits.

Even has a glimpse into a pre-t egg-stage trans Fluttershy (more as a rough draft; design could change)

Still figuring out how to do Rainbow Dash, Applejack, and Rarity.

For Rainbow Dash, I could build upon this premise, but I don't want her to actually shoot anyone.

I have basic ideas for Applejack and Rarity, but I need to think more deep about them, and how they fit into the story as a whole.

Most of my attention has been on hyperfixating with Doomer Pie's nihilistic edginess, as well as her and Twilight's respective character arcs.

In my honest opinion,

I think you could've easily had a comically-edgy Sonic game/spinoff that was actually good, if the people behind it were actually committed to the artistic merit of sheer edginess, rather than just trying to look cool to kids.

Imagine if, instead, the Shadow the Hedgehog game leaned into more of a "dark sci-fi" aesthetic, put him in some edgy power armor (like Ratchet Deadlocked), and only gave him guns that fit the cartoony sci-fi aesthetic (again, like the Ratchet and Clank games).

Then just put him on dark, alien worlds, ravaged by whoever the antagonist would be.

It would still be ridiculous, but it would be tastefully ridiculous.

But you know what would make it even better? Embracing the ridiculousness, and making the story and dialog really campy on purpose, almost like a child-friendly MGR.

Like, the Shadow game still suffers from boring level design, a messy morality system, poor key story concepts, and tedious mission structures, but if you removed all of that and did something different,

the game would've actually been good.

Edit: now I wanna see Shadow directly throw hands with a bionically-enhanced Eggman, after Eggman just beats the shit out of him.

Fun fact, just earlier today, I was making this little drawing of Fluttershy while listening to Slipknot, and this shows up in the comments:

Especially an interesting coincidence, as I frequently hc Fluttershy as being into nu metal, as a joke.

We should firmly establish this into the fan canon. We should make art of this idea.

Like, imagine if this took off, and someone capable of doing an accurate Fluttershy impression does a Fluttershy cover of Korn, or Disturbed, or something.

I finally caved in and made a wallet for both Ethereum and Avalanche, for donations

It'll probably help in the long run, because I do plan on doing free software in the future, and crypto donations are pretty common in open-source. Though, FOSSbros seem more interested in Monero (for the Privacy™, which I honestly understand). And, tbh, I wouldn't use Monero unless it transitioned to PoS or something. PoW currencies consume too much energy, and it's bad for the environment.

Also, look; feature I would never need:

The problem with environmental impact (with PoS chains like Ethereum anyway) seems to largely a thing of the past, so the real problem with NFTs today mostly lies with commodified media (usually mass-produced, generated garbage), used by scam artists.

I would never want to engage with this technological mistake, unless:

-It's dirt-cheap, and it's mocking NFTs.

-It's an April Fools joke, mocking NFTs.

-Some loser sent me one involuntarily (I don't know if NFT transfers are a mutually-consented thing or not; correct me if I'm wrong), and I need to sell to another loser to get it the fuck off of me

Just imagine my OC, kicking and screaming as an ugly, randomly-generated jpeg of a monkey is suck to their body and wouldn't come off.

(The blockchain should be used to verify media authorship, not ownership, while executing a smart contract to make sure the media is preserved, via IPFS. But no, cryptobros want to trade ugly, randomly generated picrews)

Real question, why does the mlp fandom attract some of the worst people imaginable?

Like, this isn't a smear on the community, but it's easy to stumble into shit that makes you go:

Especially when things go remotely nsfw. People in those spaces specifically keep turning out to be p***philes, or other awful things.

I know it has something to do with the toxic masculinity inherent in the old "Brony" movement, but still,

it's literally a wholesome cartoon about abstract, colorful horses. Why??

(Also, like, even notable "bronies", that have made either mostly or completely sfw contributions to the community, will turn out to be perverted freaks. Remember Alfa995? Guy who did Ponies Sliding into Boxes? Guy who even did the Sans "Stronger than You" animation? He's made some utterly horrific works, that I encountered firsthand on complete accident.)
