Hitchin' a ride on Tiffany Ford's daily color block wagon~ IT WAS FUN!!!
Gotta admit, this isn't an honest weekly wardrobe for me, just a few of my best looks that I found in my vast selfie collection. :B
Next time, I'll try to keep an actual day-by-day record of what colors I wear... I'm curious to see how weather/seasonal changes impact outfit + color choices.
... could be an experiment!!

Hello, friends! Sorry about the lull in activity here– got sidetracked by real life for a bit.
I’m back to tell ya I’m part of a zine show+exchange, STACKS, at the always-wonderful Light Grey Art Lab; the show chronicles the past 30 years, from 1984-2014. And, they’re for sale~ mine’s here, find all of them here!
For my year, 2012, I collected & illustrated friends’ memories from the year, as well as my own. This was my first time directly working w/ risograph printing, which was all sorts of cool. (Shout-out to Walker Mettling of Ada Books/Providence Comics Consortium, who printed all these babies, & to my buddy, Hope Anderson, who trimmed them all at DWRI Letterpress! Check ‘em out!)
Also, these ~beautiful~ photographs of it were taken by Light Grey Art Lab. (So many thanks to the whole staff… for being patient while I had printing issues & the like. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.)
OH! I’m way better w/ updates on Instagram (my handle: estrhong), so if you’d like to see more of what I’ve been up to, head on over there! I post personal stuff from time to time… so hey, get to know me~!!

Around a month or two ago, I started a project that would explore everywhere I’ve lived + the memories I associate with those places.
This is the first in the series– a look back to my childhood spent in Arcadia, California.

Many thanks to AD Alexandra Zsigmond for the opportunity!

I’ve been stuck using Photoshop on my old laptop which displays colors all wonky… so these colors are kinda off, but whatever. If you guys look back to my first post, I basically drew the same basic pose again by mistake!
I don’t have any brownies left to eat now. :c It’s okay, though… I guess I have like, a meal’s worth of Indian leftovers still so that’s good.
Happy Sunday Night, Everyone! ~E★

FIRST LOOK!
I think we’re gonna end up having a bit of a backlog of posts since we launched later than expected, so here’s one from the last week of January. c:
It’s always a bit of a miracle for me to leave my apartment during the weekend, nevermind the weekdays (thank you, unemployment)… so it’s also a rare thing nowadays for me to dress like a normal, productive human being. I mostly live in my pajamas– I DO WHAT I WANT– BUT, I think I managed it alright this time. ~E★

finally finished! here's my painting for The Scribble Project, created+organized by Lisa Currie. check out her blog for a look at a whole bunch of others' Scribble Project interpretations!
basically, i was given a template to doodle over– the template i painted over is the second image– & it was suuuuper fun. i'm so excited to be a part of the upcoming exhibition, which will be on display all throughout June 2014 at the City Library in Melbourne, Australia! if you're in the area then, go feast your eyes on what I'm betting will be an awesome buffet of artwork from doodlers+illustrators+artists, etc. all around the world!
lil' spoiler: the lie is that i like donuts & the truth is that i like kiwis. the fruit.

THE BIG REVEAL: my illo for SKINJOBS, a Blade Runner fanzine! Thanks to James O, who made it happen/organized it all! & to my best bud & sister extraordinaire, GRACE, who told me about it!
My idea for the piece was pretty simple: Blade Runner Ladies! The costuming was so great & the styling of the characters stayed with me the most out of everything. The symbology of the origami unicorn was pretty fascinating, too, so I wanted to connect those two elements in the illustration. Though, honestly, Pris' outfit borders on like, the most generic punk outfit I've ever seen.
This crisp digital version probably isn't how it'll look in print though, haha, since I've been told to embrace little things like misregistration that are bound to happen with risograph printing.
Anyway, I'm PUMPED. I've always loved the look of riso-printed publications... seems like riso's been making a big comeback recently w/ a lot of very cool comics/zines usin it as a printing method (Nick Sumida's SNACKIES, Sam Bosma's FANTASY BASKETBALL... Hannah K. Lee's SHOES OVER BILLS are a few that come to mind. All conveniently linked so you can BUY THEM.)
More info to come as things move along. Make sure to check back every so often for news on when the Kickstarter for Skinjobs is happening, etc. Oh, and get ready to see some other beautiful pieces for the zine! Some PRIMO stuff comin atcha!

here are all the different color schemes of the birthday card i did recently. my first work that I did while being art-directed. by my mom (!) who asked for a birthday card design for her church to use for church members' birthdays. :P so, i've ordered a batch of these, 50 of each version... i might have these up for sale if there are any left over. woohoo!

forgot to post a proper scan of this baby! my favorite one is the green lady... diggin that dress i painted. actually, that's how i prevent myself from spendin $$ on clothes i wanna buy. i just take a pic of it & promise myself later that i'll draw myself or another little lady in somethin like it & pretend i own it. ha! i didn't see these dresses in real life, though~ these ones were just floatin in my brain.

a quasi-thing-from-school… that i also never really finished. i gave myself the assignment to make mock-nobrow mag illustrations, based on its past issues’ themes. this one was based off the issue with the theme, “a few of my favorite things." yes…
~these are a few of my faaavooriiitee thiiings~
+ cakes, specifically sponge cakes (even more specifically, korean cream cake with fresh fruit on top OR castella, if we're including that in the cakes category OR strawberry shortcake)
+ drawin’ cute lil girls, wearin’ cute lil clothes
+ bows. bows. bows.
i realize these all sound like traditionally “girly" interests. i don’t care. i like these things. a lot. i also really love these boots that i've mentioned i keep drawing. i always draw these boots that are candy-colored & have hearts on the sides... i think they're a rehashing of these kiddy costume cowboy boots my friend wore back in high school. they were so cool & had these supercute illustrations of a little toddler cowboy on the sides.
in any case, i might come back to this sometime.
