Amanda Ross-Ho // THE APPROACH // 15th October – 14th December 2014

WHO BURIES WHO is a new installation by Amanda Ross-Ho that demonstrates her vested exploration into photography as an analogue to experience, the archaeology of activity and time as a material. The artist has transformed the gallery into a cryptic tableau, operating as both theatricised photography studio and abstracted crime scene. Employing symmetry, scale shifts and a forensic gaze, she creates an environment reminiscent of sites of production, examination and dramatisation.

Jacynthe Carrier receives the Pierre-Ayot Prize 2012

The Prize Pierre-Ayot, presented by the City of Montreal and the Association des galeries d'art contemporain (AGAC), aims to promote excellence in the new artistic creation by an artist under the age of 35

Jacynthe Carrier employs photography and video to examine the different relationships between the body and the environment, as well as the way we conceive and consume landscape. In her works, landscape, whether urban or rural, is an area that as been tamed, a territory of re-creation, a place of the «still-possible» . She carries out different types of interventions in which bodies and objects assemble in performative situations and/or mises en scène. She develops contemporary allegories, stories that bring together mythologies- both everyday and personal, popular and shared- in an attempt to re-appropriate a certain portion of the place.

Born in 1974, this italian artist has studied at the Fine Art Academies of Vienna and Brera-Milan, as well as at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California.

Esther Stocker's work principally consists of paintings and installations in an abstract and geometrical perspective, the two genres being closely related to each other.
