For a moment, he thought Jafar would object to him going, or question it further, but his body seemed to heave a sigh of relief when he changed his words.

"Of course," he smiled softly, pulling his hand away from Jafar's shoulder. "I'll see you later." He smiled over his shoulder once more before he left the room.

"I'm heading out to the market for a while," Hook smiled softly, reassuringly to Jafar and then... dared to leave a kiss on the man's cheek, his hand lingering on his shoulder. "I'll see you later?"

WAS HE LEAVING ON HIS OWN? REALLY? jafar was quite surprised. he turned and looked at james. « are you... » at first he wanted to ask whether he was really sure to do this, given jafar still remembered james struggling to go out on his own. jafar might have also added to that fear by telling him about all the things that could happen to him, for which he felt bad. but eventually he decided against it.

this was a new chapter.
