Brennen

She’s against pets in general but if she had to pick one she’d choose a monkey

But after researching it and realizing she doesn’t have the adequate amount of time to care for one she lets booth get a dog

Has to be one that’s known for its intelligence tho

Booth

A dog man through and through

Specifically a high energy breed he can take for runs

Also likes to play fetch with it

Teaches it tricks

Constantly gets lectures from Brennen every time he says they have the smartest dog

Wants to let it lay in the bed but Brennen says no

He sneaks the dog up after she goes to sleep sometimes

Wendell

I bet you’re thinking dog huh?

Yeah you’re right

He has a American pitbull terrier he adores

Buys her sweaters for the winter

Takes her out to those dog friendly restaurants to play with Booth’s dog while they hang out

Cam

Cat lady 100%

Either a Siamese or a hairless cat

Spoils it with toys and treats, but makes sure it stays at a healthy weight

When no one is around she speaks to it in a baby voice

Arastoo

A cat he found at his local shelter

He doesn’t know what kind of cat it is

Has to take allergy pills because he developed an allergy after he already was attached

Sweets

A hermit crab he keeps in his office

Gets an artist friend to paint new shells based on sci fi movies he likes

Before he picked a name he was calling it buddy, which just kinda stuck

Angela

Likes many animals, but not keeping them

Only got one after Michael-Vincent kept begging

Ended up getting a hedge hog

It curls up in her lap while she paints or draws

Hodgins

Has the hedgehog with Angela obviously

He lets sit on his shoulder when relaxing

Built it a fucking MASSIVE enclosure in their house

This lil thing has so much to play with it’s insane

After a year or two of owning the hedgehog, he convinces Angela to get a tortoise

Who he also spoils

Zack

He bought a beta fish one day bc he thought a pet would make him less lonely but he was scared of all the other species at the pet store

He named it Archimedes

Originally just had it in a glass bowl

Bought it a proper tank after Hodgins explained how bad that is

Hodgins also went with him to pick out things it could hide in

Daisy

Honestly I’m not really sure

Maybe a hamster when she was young

But never got another pet after it died bc she was so sad

Loves Lance’s little hermit crab though

Says hi to it every time she stops by his office

Fisher

An iguana

He brought him into work once and cam made him put it in Hodgins’ bug room

Takes it for walks

It wears a black spiked collar with its leash

Vincent

He has two ferrets and and a set of Guinea pigs

Talks to them for hours telling them all the facts that pop into his head

Carries the ferrets around his body (neck, shoulders, arms, etc)

Talks about them like they are his human children

#technically cam is canonically a “dog person”#but i detest that fact with every fiber of my being

people always forget how much cam gets. people always overlook her, yet she screwed Greyson, and a gynecologist. also she was getting a lot more then we know and that should be acknowledged.

sometimes i wish they had at least one scene where they freaking apologized to her because they get away with treating her like shit every single time

Cam - The Unsung

Booth should add Cam's name to his list of saints. That woman has one HELL of a thankless job as the administrator of the Medico-Legal lab. The irony of her position is that the better she does her job, the less it looks like her position is needed. And being the calm, steady one in a team full of highly individualistic, radical personalities means that her own specialized intelligence often gets ignored. When you have 'works-on-a different-plane-of-thought' Brennan, affable-yet-utterly-mad scientist Hodgins, and queen-of-lateral-thinking Angela on your team, your astute leadership skills and pathological expertise are not given their due importance.

Which is a bloody travesty. The Medico-Legal lab's job is not only to determine the truth, but also to make certain that the analysis can be utilized and presented successfully in court. Before Cam, the team was essentially a group of genius scientists working on individual remains on an as-is basis. Booth was correct in Season 2 when he told Brennan that Cam's objective is to ensure a successful prosecution. And in order to safeguard the findings of the team from being thrown out on a legal technicality, she is bound by the rules of the Justice Dept, the FBI and the Jeffersonian board. It sucks that time and again her team chastise her for doing so.

I mean the poor woman was treated like a traitor by her team for not lying to the authorities when Brennan was framed by Pelant. I mean, sure Angela, Cam should just lie about the evidence implicating Brennan. It's not like evidence in murder cases has a long chain of custody, and any fudging would be soon discovered. It's not as though Cam wouldn't immediately nuke her career and possibly her freedom by actively sabotaging a Federal murder inquiry.

And look - I love Hodgins but I'm surprised how fans of the show either ignore or simply brush over the times he blatantly uses his financial privilege without considering the ramifications to other people. I mean seriously, do we really think he would be so free to full off half his shenanigans if he wasn't the last scion of the Cantilever group, and thus enjoyed donor privilege? He regularly swipes items from other departments and exhibits, often without approval. He brews alcohol in Jeffersonian owned instruments and sets off minor explosions. His intentions are never ever malicious, and he is genuinely an adult version of the boy who loved to take everything apart to see how things worked. But let's face it - ANY other person would have faced severe consequences for these actions. Remember the Founder's Day party? It would have been Cam's job to take the heat for the decimated Mexican succulents and unauthorized drinking in the workplace. I wonder just how much she's shielded her team from - and whether she's ever been acknowledged.

Gods even in the episode where Wendell comes back after his chemo and lets Cam know that he takes medical marijuana to deal with the pain - did she have ANY recourse but to let him go? She stuck her neck out for Finn but Caroline bulldozed her, and with justifiable reason. She was stuck between the same rock and hard place with Wendell. And wow, the way Angela and Hodgins immediately painted her as a moustache twirling villain laughing at Wendell's pain infuriated me. They should realize how hypocritical their stance is - after all when Brennan left for Maluku and Booth for Afghanistan they had a proper cause and mission. Hodgins and Angela left simply because they could, and because they didn't want to put in the effort of breaking in a new team, however temporarily. Cam was left in the dust.

So here's to Camille Saroyan - woman of infinite patience, empathy and the ability to handle rambunctious adults. May she one day get the recognition she deserves.

Let's talk about Bones 9x14

Now that I have a bit more of a presence on Bones Tumblr, I've been meaning to share my opinions of this show and some of the social issues it addresses. You don't have to read the whole thing, but it means a lot to me and who I am as a person that I at least put this out there.

I've been thinking about The Master in the Slop (9x14) for a bit and the part where Brennan is bothered by Cam being chosen for the Outstanding Women in Science Award doesn't sit right with me. While I understand that Brennan's character is one that's highly competitive, I think the way Cam handles the situation leads to a whole new conversation about woc in science that we should be having.

Like not only does Brennan not just let Cam have the award, but Cam then considers giving the award back. And even though in the end she's still awarded, it's with 11 other women (including Brennan), which then decreases the significance of her award. I'm sure the writers meant to make it a heartfelt scene of a woman in solidarity with her female friend and coworker, but to me, it just feels like another instance in which a woman/person of color has to give up something they've worked for their whole life for a white person who's feelings are hurt because they can't have everything they want.

I know it's Fox and that given the time, they're probably doing more than the best they can. Also, I'm aware that Brennan's social skills do play a part in how this situation panned out and I'm sure that had she known more/known better, she wouldn't have acted that way, but I don't think we can just blame the situation on her lack of social understanding. Maybe I'm being harsh on Brennan and overly critical of the show in general, but as a woman of color going into science, I think it's important that we address situations like these with our current standards instead of just saying "oh that's just how it was at the time." Bones is one of my favorite shows of all times and it's only because I love this show so much that I bring these things up. That being said, I'd love to hear other people's opinions and thoughts and maybe we can have a conversation about issues and scenarios like these.

I love the show Bones but the further I get into the process of getting an anthropology degree the more pissed off Brennan makes me about her views towards religion or frankly any part of culture that requires believing in something you can’t see…the way she words things is extremely belittling and dehumanizing and offensive as all hell and sometimes she does not deserve to be called an anthropologist because over and over again my professors have drilled into our heads we NEVER discuss other ways of life the way she will almost every episode at this point (I’m in season 11)…I cannot believe someone with an anthropology degree will look a stranger in the face and tell them their beliefs don’t exist and require a lack of intelligence INCLUDING her own husband. Brennan will literally take parts of culture that aren’t hers and just go “no❤️I’m different I don’t believe in stupid shit because I have a brain” like WHAT
