In the 98 film specifically she is SO hyperactive. She’s an ensemble character so her main function is to fangirl over Rum Tum Tugger, and the way she does it is SO ADHD. She even flaps her hands (paws?) at a couple points and grabs her head in a specific way that looks a lot like stimming. Obsessive fangirl character type is inherently ND coded and that’s the truth.

(cw suicide) Moritz’s whole plot is that he failed a class because he struggles to pay attention in school, which puts his whole life on a downward spiral. He’s usually played as pretty fidgety and restless, and he makes some big decisions pretty impulsively, like trying to move to America, and failing that, to kill himself.

First submitter's evidence:

I headcanon her as ADHD because she's very scatterbrained. If given a certain task she tends to become easily distracted and ends up doing something else. She also tends to get into trouble when she does. When others are talking to her she gets caught up in something else and ends up not listening. In a later episode her and her friends are searching a room looking for a locked box left by their teacher and she constantly interrupts everyone else when she finds stuffed animals and even a teddy bear sleeping bag in some cabinets.

Second submitter's evidence:

1. She's very forgetful - in 1st episode she nearly breaks am important rule by going home stating that she had forgotten.

2. Characters describe her as scatterbrained - always going from one thing to another, getting distracted by small things, always deviating from original plans, in one episode when they were searching for something in the teacher's lounge she kept interrupting to show the others random stuff animals she keeps finding.

3. She gets loud without meaning to - she's constantly told to be quiet but always get too loud anyways, especially when she gets excited.

4. Fidgeting - she does it quite a bit.

5. Interrupts others - constantly talking over other people, when someone talks to her she tends to Interrupt randomly with things unrelated to original topic.

6. Impulsive - tends to do stuff spontaneously, wakes up others in the middle of the night with an idea to go to the mall, suggests random activities at random times, at one point she ran straight into danger without thinking to protect herself first.

I'm not posting this one as an actual poll because it doesn't really fit what I want to do with the blog (also, technically, real people aren't allowed, because it's extremely rude to speculate on a real person's mental health, I think I forgot to put that in the pinned though. also, the point of this is characters) but it did make me laugh, so I wanted to show everyone else as well.

However, it does make me want to run a different poll, about something I've been curious about, because I am guessing that most of this blog's followers are also ADHD but have no idea if that's actually true:

Making a post about this bc I got a question in a reply and IME if one person asks a question, other people would also benefit from the answer:

Characters who canonically have been said to have ADD are eligible to be submitted, and will still be listed as an ADHD character. ADD is no longer a separate diagnosis from ADHD, it is now called ADHD inattentive type and not ADD, so it's an outdated term. And it's easier and less mentally irritating to me to have the consistency of saying ADHD every time rather than specifying ADD sometimes, I mean, the entire reason there's a comma in each poll title is I did it once and now I have to be consistent about it or it'll bother me. So.

I don't usually include submitter commentary for canonically ADHD characters, but I wanted to share this from one of her submitters:

I figured other people probably already submitted Percy Jackson & Leo Valdez, since they fit the commonly held 'boy who can't sit still' stereotype of ADHD, but I wanted to include Annabeth since ADHD is so underdiagnosed in women and she's easily the most prominent female demigod in the series. Also, a lot of times people with ADHD (and dyslexia) are portrayed as being unintelligent, and Annabeth is the daughter of Athena, goddess of wisdom, and is repeatedly shown to be incredibly intelligent.

I didn't consider that! I have had that, and I usually vote "know and see as ADHD" because the propaganda told me who they are.

I will be honest: I think I have a touch of the 'tism because I'm very, very attached to doing things the same way every time (routines) among other things, but it's hard to tell bc, well, the overwhelming ADHD and the overlap between symptoms. The reason that there's always a comma between the character and the source in the poll title is literally that I did it without thinking on the first poll and went "well now I have to do it like that every time, for consistency." So unless there's a very very strong reasoning I probably won't be able to add any poll options ^^'

But I'm very very glad the propaganda has been working!!! more ADHD hcs is always good.

The propaganda was what got me into Zack Crisis Core and anyone who's been following this blog since the beginning knows how that went, lol. was putting him in the mental pear wiggler last night after finishing rewatching playframe's ff7r playthrough (psst go watch playframe it's a fantastic chill let's play channel run by a game animator who's a wonderful person and also, on brand for this blog, has ADHD!)
