My personal favorite is between: "So I'm sitting there, barbeque sauce on my titties" and "Ah fuck, I can't believe you've done this."

i literally love all of your writing and im constantly rereading because i love them so much😭😭 i am also guilty of reading fanfics of shows i haven't even watched yet but those parts of 'not so bad' convinced me to watch the show and OH MY GOSH!!! the show is amazing
sorry for that little rant😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫this is not really a request, but i would be happy if you did make a part 3
no pressure btw, ik youre writing for the sun and moon series👩‍👦‍👦 and i am also really excited but nervous to read the next part when it comes out!!!

The second part is the last part. If I'm honest it was originally gonna be a oneshot, but I cut it in half.

Is y/n ever gonna get their nen back??
In regards to Moon and Sun, we go through how they lose it. But as for after
SPOILERS
It simply can't be gained back unless someone with the ability to remove cursed nen helps them out. It's actually a major plot point for Forgiveness and Acceptance, hence the fic's name. Overall, it's Y/n accepting that they won't be able to get their nen back, but it doesn't make them any less of a person.

As requested, I present to you ✨
Hiei Bringing His Airheaded S/O To Demon World
Tumblr media
Absolute chaos
The entire time he regrets bringing you there.
He only did so because he was tired of you crying everytime he left. Even though he always came back to you no matter what, idiot.
Truthfully, he prefers you staying in the living world because there's less things that could kill you.
No bloodthirsty demons salivating at the scent of you. No carnivorous plants waiting for you to aimlessly stumble into. And no threats of kidnapping and being used for ransom.
It's not like you can't take care of yourself, but the chances of a someone or something taking advantage of your naivety are high
Which is why he specifically tells you to stay close to him.
“If you get lost here, I won't try to find you.” It was a small warning that he'd never really follow through with. But he needed you to take this seriously.
“But you found me when I got lost on my way home that one time.”
“I mean it this time.”
He has to keep a constant eye on you at all times.
Even going as far as holding your hand to keep you in place.
Which is very humiliating for him. The three eyed demon not used to openly showing his affections.
His first stop is Mukuro's base. To which you responded ‘Why is it moving??? I think I'm gonna get motion sickness.’
Because of his constant supervision, he isn't really able to do his job.
And so it begins.
He needs his Jagan, so it's either you or the other poor humans who stumbled past the makai barrier.
Guess who he chooses most of the time.
The few times he does leave you, he makes sure you're occupied with something.
“Go spar with those new recruits over there while I'm gone.”
“Okay!”
Bless those poor demons. They never stood a chance.
Hiei warned Mukuro beforehand about you.
How you're decently strong but don't have a single thought in your head.
She didn't believe him at first. At least, not until she met you in person.
How you managed to bust a hole in the wall by tripping, she'd never know. She saw it happen, but she still doesn't understand how it's possible.
Hiei introduces you to her and immediately regrets it.
“You’re a liar! You said you didn't have any friends.” You pointed out, causing the three eyed demon to tense up.
“I don't. Mukuro's an ally.”
“We both know it's the same for you.”
He's actually mad you're smart enough to figure that out but not why you shouldn't eat glass.
He's pretty embarrassed about your relationship. Not because he's ashamed of you. Couldn't be any further than the truth. He relishes in the fact you're so strong, paired along with your heart that has more kindness than he's able to fathom.
No, Hiei is embarrassed because here he's respected. His reputation is infamous and he's regarded highly. Known to be cruel yet reasonable.
But here he is telling you not to wonder off like some worried parent.
Here he is inspecting the smallest of cuts on your finger and healing it.
It's just so embarrassing for him to be soft in front of others who aren't you.
“So this is the one that has you returning to the human world.” Mukuro teased.
But Hiei wouldn't take the bait.
“I don't know what you're talking about.
Only for you to come up to him with a small gem. Presenting it proudly to him.
“Hiei! Look what I found! Isn't it pretty?”
It's a ruby. Something you'd told him reminds you of his eyes. It makes a tinge of red appear on his face.
But Hiei's a stubborn demon.
“And what do you expect me to do with it?” A tone that would sound cruel to anyone but you.
“Maybe I could turn it into a necklace like the one you gave me.”
“That's a ridiculous idea.”
It was inevitable something would happen to you on this trip. A lot of demons were still bitter about the outcome of the tournament. And with Hiei's involvement with the reform, you were only a huge target.
He ends up wearing it for the rest of the trip. Guarding it with his life. Much to the amusement of the Mukuro and her henchmen.
He came back to the base expecting to see you waiting, but you weren't there.
He didn't waste a second using his Jagan to find you.
He fully prepared to end the life of whatever demon decided to mess with his mate, but when he found you, you'd already taken care of it.
Save for a few scratches on your arm, you were completely fine.
It led to Hiei scolding you for walking off with someone you didn't know. Promising this would be the last time you ever came here for acting so reckless, and that you weren't to leave his side for the rest of the time you were here.
It proved that he was right with you staying in the living world. It was safer for you. And he had Kurama to take care of you if anything happened. You were completely alone here.
“How come you didn't want me to come here?” You asked while he went over your injuries once more.
His answer came immediately.
“Because I knew you wouldn't be able to stay out of trouble.”
“Hey, it's not my fault that guy wanted to fight. How was I supposed to know he wasn't a part of Mukuro’s army?”
He glared up at you.
“You're an idiot.” Then his gaze softened. A look reserved only for you.
“…But you're my idiot, therefore my responsibility. I can't have you getting hurt on my watch.”
What kind of mate would he be if he couldn't even take care of you in his element?
You sat in silence for a while, and he briefly wondered if he went too far. You usually never took his harsh words to heart. He was relieved when he heard you speak again.
“You seem to really like it here. I wouldn't blame you if you decided to stayed after all one of these days.”
You still thought he would just abandon you? Truly your naivety infuriated him.
“In case I haven't made my intentions clear before, I come back for you and you only. Yet you still doubt my devotion. If you expect me to stay in the living world forever with you, you shouldn't.” But I'll always come back for you. Words he'd said over and over again.
An idea struck you then.
“We could stay here if you want. Get all old together. Maybe start a family.”
He couldn't stop the heat crawling onto his face. The way the red seemed to glow from his flustered state. He had to look away from you and move back.
“As if. I have no intentions to keep you here, nor procreate with someone who can't even tie their shoe.”
He heard you laugh and the red only worsened from there.
He didn't like the effect your words had on him.
Tempting him with something so sweet. Something that would inevitably give him even more of a weak spot.
But you weren't meant for this world. Your home was on the other side of this barrier. And his was with you.
For now this arrangement of being with you periodically would work.

I'd love to see Jin with a human girlfriend. I'd love to see him introduce her to Yusuke, Chuu and the others for the first time. She's more of a bookworm type of girl and if you could have her wear glasses that would be amazing! Please and thank you!
Jin With A Human Bookworm S/O
Tumblr media
I think just in general he'd be a 10/10 partner
Human or demon, he's absolutely smitten.
That being said, he's a lot more softer with a human S/O
He doesn't want to accidentally hurt you with his strength or worse. Humans are fragile, after all.
He's very hesitant to pick you up and carry you in the air.
Genuinely scared he might drop you.
“One slip up and you go ‘splat!’ I don't wanna be cleanin’ you off the ground. It'd take too long.” He explained. The last part earning a small glare from you. Which he corrected immediately.
“I mean, I'd be devastated at the loss of ya. Now don't go and hit the back of me head! I mean it!”
Your first meeting with the wind demon was…an experience.
The duties of a spirit world Shinobi were extensive. Sometimes extending to the world of the living. Which was where Jin found himself now.
He took care of what he needed to, but that didn't mean he had to go back right away.
It was rare being allowed here without constant supervision.
He couldn't help but take the opportunity to sightsee when he could. Occasionally watching the Living World's inhabitants. Who didn't know just how good they had it.
To bask freely in the sun. The light.
Originally he'd wanted some quiet in a clearing. A place to enjoy the serenity. But he'd caught something from the corner of his eye.
A lone human sitting under a tree.
It was odd by his standards for one to be this far away from the others.
So he decided to watch you for a little while. Hovering a small distance above you with interest.
He noticed you were actually reading. How strange. And when you struggled to turn the page, he sent a small gust of wind to help you. Thinking nothing of it.
Apparently he'd been a little too close.
The sudden wind making you jump and search for the direction it came from.
To your surprise, there was a man above you. Staring at you with equal bewilderment.
“Uh, sir? You're flying.” There was truly nothing else you could think to say. Too shocked to come up with anything else because ‘how the hell was this dude flying?????’
He didn't seem to expect you to address him.
“Huh!?! You can really see me? Quite a bit of awareness goin’ on, dont'cha?” A higher spiritual awareness than most humans.
“A bit of a what?”
All he offered in return was a laugh at your confused expression. Joining you on the ground shortly after and proceeding to dodge your questions about his powers. His work was secretive, you know.
A very baffling first meeting that turned into two. Then three. Then once a month. Then once a week.
It didn't help that spot in the forest was your favorite for reading. Or that he showed up at the exact same time every meeting.
You didn't know a lot about him, except that he wasn't really human. If the ears and horns didn't give it away.
He did talk a lot, just not about himself. He'd ramble about duties and how ‘they were such a bore’. Or fighting other demons and how ‘none of them really compared to Urameshi.’
It was odd. But the way he phrased things made you laugh most of the time. Occasionally you'd gather bits and pieces from the redhead's life. People he knew or things he liked.
You never understood why he kept coming back after the first time. You figured it was because he was bored and wanted to kill time
Which in a sense was true.
But honestly, he liked the attention you gave him.
The way you stared at him with curiosity and interest.
How you always laughed at his jokes.
How you'd put down whatever you were reading to listen to him talk your ear off.
Maybe he liked stopping by a little more than he should've.
And maybe he liked your reactions when he subtly messed with you.
Your frustrated huff when he sent a little gust to trip you up or mess with your hair.
Maybe his face went a little red at the sound of your laughter.
So what? It was all in good fun.
You were good fun.
“Back again flyboy? That's the third time this week, you greeted.
His visits had become a lot more frequent. Sometimes you wondered how he always knew where to find you, even if you switched spots.
You couldn't say you minded much. He was great company. Still choosing to hover over you while he talked.
“These things really help you see? Whaddya do if they break?” He asked, stealing the glasses from your face.
The times he was on the ground, he liked to ask you questions about yourself.
“Well then I'd be blind. Things would be kinda fuzzy and unfocused.” You tried to swipe them back to no avail.
“So you'd be stumblin’ around like a newborn? You humans really are fragile.”
“Well we can't all be born like you, Mr. 20/20 vision.”
Instead of handing them back, he haphazardly placed them back on your face. They were a little askew, but besides that he did okay.
Today though, he offered a little more of an explanation about why he kept showing up.
“If they do ever break, I'll just carry ya around everywhere so you don't go and hurt yourself.” And maybe his concern had been endearing.
“It's quiet here. Sometimes my ears feel like they're falling off with all the noise out there. ‘Specially with all the orders Risho keeps yapping out.”
He quickly slapped a hand to his mouth.
“Oh! Said too much.”
“Don't you always?” You teased.
“Maybe I do, but you like the sound of my voice.”
“Sure.”
The silence after was peaceful. He was quieter than usual. It gave you the opportunity to ask what you'd been wanting to for a while.
“You know, if you're gonna keep stopping by, I'd at least like to know your name.”
He lit up at your words.
“Jin the Windmaster.”
“Windmaster? That certainly explains a lot.”
And that was how the mysterious flying stranger had become your friend. Then over time - your lover.
Jin is the type to rest his head in your lap while you read.
Wanting to both relax and be close to you at the same time.
If you choose to read to him, he tries not to fall asleep. Key word: tries
But it's inevitable he does. Your lap is just so comfortable.
You let him read to you once.
Never again.
It was a combination of him reading too fast or jumbling up words to the point of being unintelligible. You couldn't understand him for the life of you.
Jin is a very touchy partner. Wanting to have at least one point of contact with you at all times.
Whether it be resting his head on your shoulder or clinging to you from behind, he's always touching you in some way.
He likes to skirt his responsibilities by hanging out with you. Even if he gets in trouble for it.
Consequences be damned, he wants to see his girl!
The first person to find out you were dating was Yusuke.
Why you may ask?
“Urameshi, your mate’s human, right?”
Because he was the one Jin went to for advice 'courting humans.'
“Uh yeah.”
“How'd ya do it?”
Safe to say it was a lengthy conversation. But hey, it worked didn't it?
Yusuke is incredibly supportive about it. 10/10 friend.
And when Jin introduced you to him, he was a little surprised to see the wind demon fell for someone reserved. Someone with a more calm demeanor.
But it works for a reason. You're probably the only one able to reel Jin in when he's over excited.
You 🤝 Keiko - having routy boyfriends who love to fight.
Jin would never risk bringing you to the demon world. He wouldn't be able to handle it if something happened to you.
For that reason, you wouldn't have met his other friends until they visited.
Like Yusuke, Chu and Toya are supportive. Whatever makes their friend happy.
But Chu’s a little more outspoken. Lecturing you like an old man when his daughter dates.
“This guy's one of my best friends. You betta not break ‘is heart!” He warned you, slurring his words together in a way that made you concerned.
“Are you drunk!?!”
“That's besides the point!”
Overall, a relationship with Jin is sweet. A little hectic at times, but he does his best to make sure the messier part of his life is far away from you.

Hello I am new here and Walt’s I have a request for you I believe it is best to ask this first. Are you ok with writing things from not anime’s like popular novels or video games. (I’m not sure if my request falls into the category of crossover between a book series and anime, and wanted to make sure you were fine with first.) If not please ignore my ask, but if you’re fine with it please let me know and I’ll do my request
It really just depends if I'm familiar with the book or game. I usually write for animated shows because that's the type of media I mostly consume. Book characters are harder to write for because I hardly read actual published series. And even then rarely are there characters that I simp for. Video games characters are way easier because depending on the game, you spend more time with them. Joel from The Last Of Us? Check. Leon from Resident Evil? Check. Connor from Detroit Become Human? CHECK. Like I said it really just depends if I'm familiar with the material. Even writing for anime is a case by case basis because there's not really a lot of characters that catch my eye or certain animes that interests me into watching them. Especially when the most popular characters people simp for are 🤢 (Looking at you Valentino fans in the Hazbin Community.)

Hi there!! What about a Kite headcanon where his partner was doubting themselves, i.e didn’t think they were good enough to be with him. <3 you
Self-Doubts
Synopsis: It's a mystery how someone like you could have a partner who was seemingly perfect. It made you wonder just what exactly he saw in you. Though maybe you weren't the only one with these doubts.
An: I'm so sorry to whoever requested this that it took so long for me to get to!
It was no secret Kite was a good person. A man with seemingly endless patience and understanding. His profession was one of the more humble ones. A beast hunter who studied and gathered information on any new species. Hell, the animals practically flocked to him. The people he surrounded himself with were also pretty decent, holding him to the highest regard.
There was just something about him that was easy going. Managing to diffuse even the most heated of situations. A level head on his shoulders that led to him making the right decision most of the time.
And the way he was with you…it made you think that he was perfect. He never missed an anniversary. Even when he couldn't physically be there with you, there'd somehow be a delivery of flowers outside your door. The times he was home, he made sure to make every minute count. Whether it was lounging on the couch or going on a date, you were together.
If you ever had the opportunity to visit him on the job, he welcomed you with open arms. Excitedly showing you what he and his team had found. Loving and devoted. That's how you would describe him. He made it easy to feel safe and secure.
But some days, it really hit you how different you were. You didn't have some noble job dedicated to research. You weren't the most level headed when you were upset. Irritable even on your best days. You didn't have enough funds for fancy restaurants or special anniversary gifts.
Compared to Kite, you had nothing to offer. Someone like him deserved a partner that could keep up. Someone who didn't hold him back because they were normal. Ordinary with nothing special to keep his interest.
Sometimes you wondered what he saw in you.
What made you special in his eyes?
It's not like he intentionally pushed you to think like this. No, he'd never purposely make you feel lesser. Not once had he ever made any comparisons. He never commented on your financial status or excluded you from his work. He wasn't the type to put someone down just because.
This was an internal struggle.
Something caused by your own self-doubts and observations. The ones that said you simply weren't good enough. That there had to be a catch. There was no way someone like him was in love with you.
On days like those, your demeanor had shifted for the worst. Lounging around in bed curled up. Thinking, just thinking it was only a matter of time before he realized you were no good. He'd come in, break things off with you and leave. You'd never see him again, and the blissful memories of your relationship would diminish to nothing. You'd spiral, thinking of the worst possible scenarios before you'd snap out of it.
It was both a blessing and a curse that he was never there for those moments. Insecurity was something that couldn't be helped, but you always felt stupid for it when he came back and showered you with his affections. Feeling ridiculous because it was obvious he loved you.
But why was the question.
You'd never outright asked him. At least, not until today. It just so happened that today was one of the days where your insecurities were at their highest. And just who was it that surprised you at your door this morning?
Kite.
You tried not to let it show. To just enjoy the time you had with him. Yet you couldn't shake the negative thoughts from your head. A part of you knew that he knew something was off. Suggesting to stay in for your usual date night. You'd agreed, ending up cuddled on your couch while a movie played in the background. Your head on his chest, letting his heartbeat soothe your racing thoughts.
It was enough. The closeness was enough.
The sound of a phone ringing startled both of you. You got up and reached for your phone. No calls. A tired groan from Kite let you know it was coming from his phone. He sent you an apologetic look before answering.
“Hello?”
“Hey, Kite! Glad to see I've got the right number.”
It was a voice you didn't recognize. Their friendly tone only made your heart start to race. When he'd said their name with familiarity, you'd officially started spiraling again.
“Can I help you?”
“Are you by any chance busy?”
He briefly glanced over at you. No. No he wasn't busy at all. You went to get up, wanting to give him some privacy. But he stopped you. Mouthing a ‘I’ll be done in a minute. Promise.’ His attention returning to the other person on the line right after.
“Why do you ask? Did something happen back at base? If it's serious I'm sure I can make my way there.”
Always considerate. You wanted to tell him it was okay. That he could go take care of what he needed to. But…
“No nothing bad….I was just wondering if you'd like to accompany me to a nearby bar. I heard you were in town and thought I'd ask.”
But this wasn't something revolving around his work. And it scared you. He wasn't the type, but he deserved someone better. Maybe this person was better. A stable job. Patience and grace. Confidence.
You wouldn't be upset if he said yes. He looked towards you once more before answering.
“Sorry. I'm spending time with my partner right now. If something pertaining to our work happens, you can call me back. Until then, have a good night.”
With that, he hung up. The question of why ringing in your head. Why did he choose you? Over who? You couldn't help but ask.
“Who was that?”
“One of my new co-workers for the time being,” he answered.
For the time being. Because different surveys required working with different people. A temporary colleague. Nothing more, right?
“And you're not gonna go?” you questioned.
Because you didn't want to hold him back.
But it felt like he wasn't even entertaining the thought. Moving close to you and bumping his forehead to yours.
“Of course not. My days off are reserved for you. I'm away from you enough as it is.”
“We still have tomorrow. You should go enjoy yourself.” You tried again. It almost sounded like you were pleading.
He leaned back to properly read your expression. Though you were sure he could sense your negative feelings. Somehow know exactly what was running through your head.
“Why do you want me to go so badly?”
You struggled to answer. Usually you were able to quell your doubts. You would've been able to if it weren't for that phone call. Maybe you were selfish for wanting to keep him when someone better was offering.
You wanted him to go because you weren't enough.
You felt him cup your face. Trying to get you to look at him.
“Hey, what's wrong?”
That was all it took for you to say it.
“Why?”
He looked at you with a confused expression.
“Why what?”
“Why are you with me? Why did you choose me over them? I mean, they clearly sound interested and you don't gain anything dating me.” The words seemed to tumble out before you could stop them.
“Is that what you think?” Kite asked. His tone in complete disbelief.
“That I need to gain something to be with you? Where's this coming from?”
You didn't answer. You didn't know how. Choosing instead to ask what had been weighing so heavily on you.
“What does someone like you see in someone like me? You give me so much in return for practically nothing. So why? Why me?”
He was silent for a moment. Trying to figure out the best way to approach this. To formulate a proper response. He knew what he wanted to say. But he didn't know if it would be enough. This wasn't something he was used to dealing with. How ever long you'd been dealing with this, he'd felt guilt for not picking up on it sooner.
“Why you?” He repeated. It was obvious wasn't it? The same reason you'd stuck with him for so long.
“I chose you because I love you.”
And he always would. There was nothing more to it. However, it looks like that wasn't the answer you wanted.
“But why?”
He'd caught on then. Inching closer towards you.
“Well, I like that you don't let people walk all over you. You stand your ground and you don't let other's opinions sway you. You give pushback when you think something's wrong.”
A hand placed on top of yours.
“I like how we can have conversations unfiltered. We can talk about practically anything. And how you always seem to know what I mean when something I say doesn't come out right.”
Your personality and understanding. He'd loved you for those things. But was it really enough? Did that make your worth even? Did it matter if it didn't?
“I can't give you the same things you give me,” you started.
You couldn't afford extravagant dates or gifts. You couldn't travel as often to see him the same he could you. You couldn't provide the same way he could.
“I'm not some hunter like you-” but he cut you off before you could finish.
“And I'm so grateful you're not.”
Moving even closer to you. So much so you could feel yourself letting your guard down.
“I like knowing you're safe. That I can come home and know you're there waiting for me. I don't have to stress out about you not coming back to me because of some job you took up.”
The whispers of insecurities were no match for him. Quieting down to nothing so you could take his words in full.
“We can just be together. Be normal.”
He didn't mind that you were ordinary. He wanted to come home to you. He just wanted you. You who was once again starting to realize how foolish you'd been.
“I love how understanding you are about my line of work. That no matter how long I'm gone, you trust that I'll come back to you.”
That you wouldn't leave him.
“You are more than enough for me. Sometimes I wonder how I got so lucky.”
He was so close you could feel the heat from his skin.
Maybe your doubts hadn't been a one sided problem.
If you leaned any closer, you’d be able to kiss him. A comfort you didn't know you wanted until now. Face flushed from his declarations.
“You’re more than enough for me too.”
Your lips brushing against his before he gave you a proper one. You were enough for each other in your own ways.

STOP. I'M NOT READY FOR THE CHAPTER MY SON GROWS UP (literally) 😭
The long lasting trauma I'm about to give these characters... 😈
Teaser below the cut 🚨
--------------------------------
What had he done? What did he do?
You weren't here. You hadn't come to visit him. You didn't want him anymore.
And why would you? He said you were a nuisance. That he didn't need you
That you were in the way.
You'd left and you weren't coming back. He ruined it. Ruined everything for himself and Killua. Ruined having a chance to bring back Kite.
Ruined being able to call himself a Hunter.
Regret
Guilt
Fear
You were gone
----------------------
Like I have bits and pieces sorta done for future chapters, and the aftermath of Gon's rage is one of them. I have ideas for how the big showdown happens and let me tell you, it's heart shattering. But anyways- I'll probably start working on our last 'happy chapter' in maybe two weeks. It'll be a long boi so get ready.

Question, do you watch tmnt? Rottmnt specifically 😔👉👈
I don't think I've ever in the entirety of my life sat down and watched any of the ninja turtles shows. I maybe vaguely remember the 2012 version, but at that time I was more of a Penguins of Madagascar girlie. I've heard Rottmnt is good though. But as of right now it hasn't really caught my interest enough to check it out.

Revelations
Tumblr media
Synopsis: It's no secret Kurama's soft on you. But when his demon form finally sees the light after hundreds of years, the fact only further cements itself.
It's surreal to think just a few weeks ago you were an ordinary high school student. A few weeks ago you had been completely oblivious to your best friend’s secret life. A few weeks ago, he'd been walking you home like he'd always done.
Talking about everything and nothing at the same time. Visiting his mother in the hospital before you took off to your job at some ramen place to earn a few extra bucks. A simple life it was.
Uneventful but peaceful.
Now here you were in some stuffy hotel, cheering on said best friend as he fought in a tournament. A demon tournament, if you may add. Where death was always a possibility and he and his friends were constantly fighting for their lives. One of which was the boyfriend of your boss’s daughter. And thank goodness she was or else you probably never would have known what was going on with Shuichi.
You never would have had a clue as to why he was suddenly absent from your life. Where he suddenly vanished to when the day before, he'd talked about having a ‘study date.’ How, now that his mother was better, it'd be nice to have a proper dinner between the three of you. Talks of the future, like you'd wake up and he'd be right there.
Turns out it was all a lie.
That first day you'd checked everywhere for him. It wasn't until you went to work that you met up with Keiko. Who was also suspicious of her boyfriend’s absence. The two men in question had seemingly vanished over night. And in your search for answers, you'd come across the sister of another guy who went missing.
Three in one day was no coincidence.
The common denominator? A blue haired woman who was apparently a grim reaper. A few threats from Shizuru had her spilling everything. How Shuichi, sweet dorky Shuichi, was a demon. And a prolific one at that. How all three of the boys, plus another demon, were forced to fight in this tournament. Or else they'd die along with everyone they cared about.
It made sense why they'd all left in the middle of night without a word. Why he left you without saying anything. You understood the circumstances, and you didn't hold it against him. You couldn't hold that against him. But… But you two told each other everything. Or at least you thought you did.
Which leads you to where you are now. Sitting anxiously across from Kurama the night before the semi finals. He'd already had one close call with death. You didn't think you could take it if he had another.
Kurama didn't like you being here as it was. Going as far as to scold you after his first match for following him. Seeing you cry after his fight with Touya didn't help your case either. You figured his concern was purely out of obligation. Not wanting to be responsible if you somehow got hurt.
Oblivious to the warm gazes directed at you when you weren't looking. The way he searched for you in the stands before every match. How he always offered you his hand when you'd go out. You were probably the only person he let get close enough to tend to his wounds.
It wasn't like he ever hid his soft spot for you. If anyone took the time to analyze his actions, it was easy to tell he cared quite a lot about you. More than a friend should.
“You're awfully quiet.” He spoke, snapping you from your thoughts.
“I'm just…” You didn't know how exactly to explain what you were feeling. To put your overwhelmed senses into words.
Truth was you were terrified. Terrified for Shuichi and terrified for his friends. You were terrified of waking up tomorrow and him not coming back to you.
“Worried.” you settled on.
He gave a thoughtful hum before scooting closer to you. You could feel the warmth radiating off of his skin. The sweet smell of roses accompanying it. Your relationship with the redhead had always been touchy. Never shying away from affection towards one another. So you hardly minded when he moved to cup your cheek. Guiding your gaze to meet his.
“We'll win. Just one more match until we're in the finals.”
So sure, he sounded so sure that you couldn't help but believe him. Emerald eyes filled with determination. You used to joke that he was hypnotizing you with them. So pretty that you couldn't focus on anything else except him. The theory seemed more plausible now that you knew he wasn't exactly human.
“And then we can go home,” he promised.
But you still had your doubts.
“Yeah? Yusuke and the ‘masked fighter’ still aren't back. And the enemies just keep getting stronger.”
The hurdles just keep getting bigger, and you didn't think the four of them could keep up anymore. Too much had been thrown at them.
“Can you really win like this?”
You could see the conflict brewing behind his eyes. Try as he might, Kurama could never hide his emotions from you. You knew the answer before he said it.
“We have to.” Careful, always so careful with his choice of words. Not promising you a for sure victory, but reaffirming what you already knew. You knew what he wanted to say…But you also knew he couldn't admit it. Not to you and not to himself.
The real answer- He doesn’t know.
“Tomorrow's a big day, let's get some rest.”
A sign the conversation had drawn to a close. You weren't in the mood to push anyways. So you followed him to his room. The both of you slipping into the same bed, with Shuichi's arms wrapping tightly around you. Most likely the last time he'd ever get to hold you.
—-----------------------------
Tomorrow came far too soon. There was still no sign of Yusuke and the masked fighter, meaning the team would be at a complete disadvantage. If you had any semblance of martial arts training, you would have volunteered to take one of their places. Though truthfully you knew you wouldn't have been able to put up much of a fight.
You slipped into your own room to get ready, mentally preparing yourself for the day. Surprisingly, there was no one in the lobby waiting. You couldn't help but wonder where the girls were. Usually all of you went to the arena together. For safety purposes, of course. Perhaps they'd already made their way there? They didn't seem like the type to get up early, but maybe just this once they'd made the effort.
Apparently you were dead wrong.
You'd searched everywhere in the stands, testing your luck and even asking a few demons if they'd seen them. No luck. You were completely on your own. It didn't help that this new stadium was 10 times bigger than the old one. No one would even notice if something happened to you here.
You really only had two two options before the match started. You could stay here, surrounded by bloodthirsty demons who were starting to eye you with drool. Or you could go down to where Shuichi and his friends were, right in front of all the action and potentially get hurt.
It was a no brainer what you’d choose. Besides, he'd never let you get hurt on his watch. And you trusted the other two with your safety when it would be his turn to fight. You didn't think they would be cruel enough to leave you wide open for injury. Or at least, Kuwabara would do his best. He'd proven he had the most humanity during this tournament.
Yeah, you were much safer near the actual fights than you were surrounded by demons. Begrudgingly, you made your way down. Dodging a few swipes directed at you before jumping over the railing. Your actions quickly catching the attention of Koto, the cat announcer.
“And who is that making their way over to Team Urameshi! Could this be their alternate fighter? Or perhaps one of their lovers~”
You cursed her for drawing attention directly towards you. Already feeling all eyes on you as you approached.
“What are you doing here?” Kurama questioned. The other two looked expectantly at you for your answer.
“I have no idea where the girls are. And I don't think it's a good idea for me to be up in that stadium by myself.”
He gave a hum, about to usher you closer to him when someone beat him to the punch.
“Well I'll protect ya, so don't worry!” Kuwabara assured. Pulling you close by your shoulders in a way that had you laughing. Unawares of the subtle way Kurama's eyes had narrowed.
“Thank you. That's very sweet.”
“Don't mention it. Nothing gets past me, so I'll let you know when to duck and cover.”
“If that's the case, they're better off in the stadium,” Hiei commented.
“What did you say, shrimp!” Kuwabara released you to get in his face. The two of them continuing to bicker while you laughed.
Your gaze caught Shuichi's and you offered an amused grin.
“Your friends seem fun. Can't believe you didn't introduce me to them sooner.”
“They’re not exactly the type you bring up in passing. And I doubt you would've believed I was associated with them,” he answered, though there was some mirth in his eyes that let you know he was teasing.
“Excuse me, I'd like to get back to the semi-finals now,” Juri, the fish announcer this time, interrupted.
It once again reminded you just where you were. What could happen if any of Kurama and his friends slipped up. You shouldn't be joking around causing a distraction. Not when lives were at stake. His life. Your anxieties only worsened when the first round begun.
Sure Hiei had managed to beat his opponent in under five minutes. But the brief second he'd disappeared made your heart stop. Unconsciously moving yourself closer to Kurama.
The second match was much worse. The burly man in front of Hiei using his sword to cut his own arm. Explaining how once his body had been exposed to a specific pain, it wouldn't affect him the next time he was hurt. It was only a matter of time before the smaller demon ran out of options. With his sword broken and his spirit energy depleted, he took a gamble.
The conclusion of the fight had felt so sudden. So brutal. Kuro Momotaro had seemingly won, his teeth piercing into Hiei's shoulder. The aftermath was a fountain of blood spraying out.
You’d flinched away at the sight, trying your best to shut out the triumphant cheers of the stadium. Only for them to go quiet as Hiei shoved the body off of him. The shape shifting demon now in pieces on the floor. Hiei was okay. And as he continued to antagonize Kuwabara, you let out a breath you didn't know you were holding.
It was easier to stomach the fights when you were with the girls. People who weren't desensitized to the carnage around them. Nobody had batted an eye down here. They all seemed used to it. Only further reminding you just how feeble and weak you were in their presence.
Hell, Hiei was practically begging for a round three despite his condition. The dice were brought out again, and you were praying to whatever God was up there it wouldn't land on Shuichi's name. You knew it wasn't fair. He needed to fight at some point. Judging by the determined expression on his face, he wanted to. But you didn't have a good feeling about this. You didn't want him to leave your side towards his potential death.
Please don't let it be him.
“Now fighting for Team Urameshi, Kurama. and for team Uraotogi, Uraurashima.”
Fuck.
You stood shakily next to Hiei and Kuwabara as Kurama stepped into the area. His opponent a young boy with a fishing pole. At least he looked easy to beat. It gave you momentary relief before both of them drew their weapons. Uraurashima’s fishing line clashing with Kurama's Rose Whip. Equally bouncing off of each other with no indication of one overpowering the other.
“They're evenly matched? Or is he not fighting for real?” You asked.
Hiei gave a bark of laughter at your observation.
“So you do know him well. Kurama's just fooling around. It's an obnoxious habit. He never creates his own strategy until he fully understands his opponent's.”
You were gonna strangle Shuichi when he was done fighting.
“Nice to know he over analyzes everything.”
You watched as they continued to have a stalemate. Though something had changed in Shuichi's expression. It was somber. Like he was contemplating something. Now was not the time for him to get distracted.
He let up on his assault along with his opponent. And right when he moved to haphazardly strike, Uraurashima dodged. Wrapping Kurama in his fishing line and pulling as hard as he could. Slicing into his skin.
You couldn't stop yourself from screaming out his name. Kuwabara instinctively pulling you behind him.
“Don't look, okay?”
Don't look? How could you not look. That was your best friend up there. No matter how badly you wanted to turn away, you couldn't. Looking on in horror as Uraurashima approached him. Surely Kurama had some other trick up his sleeve to protect himself?
But his eyes told you a different story. Frustration and anger. You don't think you've ever seen him mad before. He staggered on his feet, only for the onslaught to continue. It looked hopeless as he fled.
Your eyes widening with tears once he was cornered. There was nowhere to run. A forcefield in effect prevented him from doing so. His opponent presenting a box of some kind and opening it. Purple smoke poured out as he explained how it worked.
It would de-age Kurama. Turn him into a child where he couldn't defend himself. A cowards move. Only when the entire arena had been filled with smoke did your tears fall.
You were powerless to do anything. You couldn't help him even if you wanted to. Designated to nothing but a bystander in his fate. Your worst fear coming true.
It was silent for a moment. Complete silence as the Idun box worked its magic. Then all at once lightning struck. No, not lighting… it was a spike of spirit energy.
Your body shook as it tried to process the power around it. The force was almost strangling.
“Do you feel that, too?” Kuwabara asked before looking back at you. He visibly panicked seeing you struggle to breathe.
“Hiei! We need some help over here!”
The three eyed demon spared you a glance, giving an irritated huff as he pulled you towards him.
“Stand close to me. I should've known someone as weak as you wouldn't be able to withstand this much. Your body isn't used to this much spiritual pressure.”
He created a small barrier of his own energy around you. You took a few greedy gasps of air. Relieved to be able to breathe again. You offered a weak ‘Thanks.’ Still worried about what exactly was happening.
This power…Could it really have been Shuichi's? Or was it something else entirely? Was he even still alive?
“Where's all that weird energy coming from?” Kuwabara questioned.
Hiei only seemed to beam with pride.
“It's all Kurama. Down to the last drop.” He responded.
You wanted to start crying again. Your emotions all over the place. He was okay in there after all. Maybe he'd be able to find a way to win.
“But it feels different somehow, and a heck of a lot more powerful,” Kuwabara pointed out.
“That fool he's been fighting has turned him back into his demon form. Before he was tainted by you humans.” Hiei explained.
That caught your attention. A part of you defensive at his words.
“Tainted? It's not like we made him stay.” Like you'd ruined him with your presence.
“No, not directly. That doesn't change the fact you made him weaker. Soft.”
You wanted to question him about what he meant, but the sound of something crashing through the barrier stopped you. All at once the smoke started pouring out. The forcefield itself was destroyed. In a matter of seconds the arena was clear.
In its wake was a red demon with its neck pierced by a sword. Further away was….No. That couldn't be.
“Shuichi?”
You regretted calling out to him as soon as his name left your lips. The silver haired demon’s head snapped towards you. The pair of ears on his head seemed to twitch at your voice.
He was different, so very different from the man you knew. His demeanor felt cold. You briefly remembered what he used to be: a fox. If the ears and tail didn't already give it away. Wild and unpredictable. If your friend was in there, it sure didn't look like it.
You trembled at the intensity from his gaze. He made a gesture with his hand, as if reaching out before you felt the ground give way. You could feel yourself fall back, landing on something soft. You hardly processed yourself moving up until you were about ten feet off the ground. You realized then what you were on top of. A type of giant leaf was carrying you.
What the hell was going on? What was gonna happen to you?
You felt the leaf shift forward, and that was when you decided to call for help. For the one person who would probably know what to do.
"Hiei, help me!” You tried to reach down, but he backed away.
You let out a scream this time as the leaf rushed forward. Kuwabara tried to reach for you, but he was stopped by the three eyed demon.
“What gives!?!? Why aren't you helping them!?!”
“Fool. Don't interfere or you'll wind up dead.”
You couldn't hear them as you were pulled towards the other side of the area. Vaguely aware of Koto’s comments.
“Now this just took an interesting turn! The mystery fighter has taken interest in the human on the field! Is he perhaps looking for his next meal?”
You were at the edge of the arena shaking. It only worsened as who you assumed to be Yoko made his way towards you. Taking slow and meticulous steps. Like a predator stalking it's cornered prey.
Why you?
Why did it have to be you?
Why did you have to go and open your big fat mouth?
Maybe he wasn't satisfied with his previous fight. Wanting to take out whatever pent up aggression he had on you. A human who just so happened to be on the field. His expression hadn't changed once since he set his sights on you. Maybe he really was planning on eating you. It's not like it was against the rules.
He was halfway to you now. You could barely hear over the sound of your heartbeat in your ears.
“We'd really like to move on to the next match now, if you don't mind,” Juri said, now back to normal.
“Quiet.”
One word was all it took to have her trembling.
“Or not! Take your time.”
His voice sounded gruff. Harsher than any tone you'd heard him use. You knew Shuichi, or rather Kurama. The boy who used to give you flowers everyday after school until he got teased for it. The boy who loved his mother more than anything. The boy who you'd never known to like senseless violence. You knew he would never hurt you. Never dream of hurting you. But this…This was not him.
A quarter of the way there.
And then he was right in front of you.
This was Yoko. An infamous demon who’d committed heinous crimes. Far too many to count. Who could kill you with no more than a swipe of his hand. And he probably would. Sharp claws on the end of each fingertip. More than enough to finish you off.
You trembled on top of the giant leaf as his gaze pierced through you. His eyes didn't hold the same warmth as Shuichi's. The familiar emerald green replaced by a faded gold. They were cold. The color so light it held nothing but ice. You continued to shake in front of him. Hoping to catch a glimpse of your best friend.
“Do you fear me, sweetling?” He spoke at last.
Your words were stuck in your throat. Unable to answer him. Fearing what would happen if you didn't.
His hand started to extend out towards you. You'd flinched and closed your eyes at the sudden movement. Expecting the worst. This was it. He was gonna slash your throat. You braced yourself for the inevitable pain…but it never came.
Instead, he'd cupped your cheek. His thumb swiping away a stray tear. An action reminiscent of Shuichi. Your Shuichi.
“You shouldn't. Open your eyes and look at me.”
You could feel your trembling ease up. Was this a game? If it was, should you play along? You didn't know what to think at the moment. If you should relax in his presence or run. But there was something about the way he was cradling your face. It was gentle. So against your better judgment, you opened your eyes. Taking a deep breath as he guided your face up.
You looked into his golden irises in search of your best friend. They weren't as cold this time. Flecks of the emerald you were used to. The softness he looked at you with had returned. Or maybe it had never really left. Your shaking had stopped completely.
“Shuichi?” you called out once more. And this time he'd smiled at you. Somehow managing to get closer into your space. But you couldn't say you minded much. Your relationship had always been touchy.
“We are one in the same. Though it's a shame he hasn't staked his claim on you yet. I will not forgo the opportunity should we meet again.”
Your face scrunched in confusion at his words. Temporary moving out of his grasp.
“What do mean stake his claim?”
His expression turned amused at your question.
“Isn't it obvious? You're ours. Our precious little mate. Shuichi is hesitant to act on his feelings. But I am not.”
You felt the leaf shift down. Letting Yoko once again cup your face. This time guiding you to bump your forehead against his.
“I am yours devotedly until the end of time.”
You could feel your face burning with embarrassment. This whole time he'd liked you. Even in his purest form he was in love with you. Why had you been so scared of losing him?
Because you'd loved him too.
“Do my ears deceive me!?!? He's actually flirting with the human!?!? Well there goes my weekend.”
But this wasn't the place for that. He couldn't be distracted by you here. There was too much at stake. Maybe when this whole tournament was over, you could properly explore these feelings.
He was leaning closer to you.
Would you turn him away if he kissed you now?
You decided the tournament committee could shove it as his lips brushed over yours.
But before they could press down fully, a heavy fog engulfed him. He'd backed away from you. The silhouette of a fox appearing for a brief second. Then it vanished, into a ray of light with one last thing to say.
“Until we meet again, sweetling.”
The light had been so blinding, you had no choice but to look away. When the dust had settled, in front of you was a familiar redhead. His tail and ears completely gone. He'd retained his previous injuries. But other than that, he was fine. He stood in front of you with an unreadable expression.
“Are you kidding me!?!? After all that we didn't even get a proper kiss!!!! Where's the entertainment in that!?!”
All at once his face went red. He was almost never flustered. Then again, his feelings were just aired out to the entire stadium. Your relationship was aired out. You knew he was a private person, so this must've felt humiliating. The cooing from the audience sure as hell didn't help.
He scooped you off of the giant leaf without a word. Surprising you with how easily he picked you up. Clutching you close to him as he made his way off the arena. His face was burning, matching your expression.
“My apologies.” he said quietly.
You could do nothing but put your head between his neck and shoulder. Wanting to hide yourself from everyone's prying eyes.
“It's okay. I didn't mind. I mean, at first you scared me. But once I saw it was really you..” you trailed off.
There was a brief silence before Shuichi spoke again.
“You reciprocated Yoko’s advancements.”
“I reciprocated your advancements.” Because they were one in the same. Although it was a little amusing to see him get jealous of himself.
“I would've let you kiss me too.” you added.
He'd finally reached the end of the area and jumped down with you still in his arms.
“I plan making good on that promise once we finish up here.”

No Moon and Sun update this month. I've got a handful of requests I'd like to get to and I like to take my time with them (Y'all deserve it 🥺). Soooo, instead I'd like to give a peace offering.
Next chapter will be somewhere between 20k words!
And below the cut is a teaser for a future chapter. And by future I mean probably the chapter after this next one😈. Just a little something to keep you interested. Minor spoilers! Well kinda major spoilers.
"Kid trust me on this. If you kill them, you won't come back from it. You're not the only one who's hurting. You're not the only one who's angry. And it would be so easy to kill Pitou, to get this over with and say it's justice. But it's not. Please, you have to listen to me.
There's another way to bring him back. Just calm down."
"You're in the way. Move or I'll kill you both."
You see what I mean when I say Gon's fight is gonna be a little more intense, no?
