rv1999 fandom pls interact, how exactly does the timeline work?
what year does the greenlake campsite event take place in? because from all the dialogues with Madam Z I figured that it should take place after the Storm in 1920s, as she tells Tooth Fairy that Horropedia could join Vertin's squad that was only created in chapter 4. the Storm is making the time run backwards, right? so we should be somewhere in 1910s or maybe even 19th century. however, if you look up major characters' exhibit dates, you'll see they're all from the 90s, not to mention the technology and the clothing are much more modern than they would be if we were actually in late 19-early 20th century.
arcanists outside the two major organisations (aka st. Pavlov's Foundation and Manus Vindictae) don't know about the Storm, so they would have no way of protecting themselves from it or surviving it starting from 90s down to where we are now in the main plot... so what year are we in even? are the events canon to the main story?? I'm so lost rn

no one asked but here are my thoughts on Vertin and her relationship with other characters.
...is it just me, or does Vertin feel like a mary-sue sometimes? and no, I'm not saying she is one. Vertin has a great lore and backsrory and in general is amazingly written. her relationship with people around her? not so.
because there is absolutely no reason for everyone who she interacts with to cling onto her the way they all do. Vertin gave one semi inspirational speech and that was all it took for Druvis to leave Manus for her. both the Foundation and Manus want her on their side (which is explained mostly by her immunity to the Storm, but still), everyone seems to like her, whether its romantically (Sonetto & Schneider) or platonically (pretty much the rest of the cast). the only people who have shown any resentment towards her are Forget Me Not and teachers at her school, but in case one it was because Vertin was his enemy, and in the second case she was a disobedient child running around and creating chaos.
and don't even get me started on her random friendship with Jessica... the ending of the 'nightmare at the green lake campsite' made me so SO angry. why make Vertin the one to convince Jessica to leave? why not Bloney? you mean to tell me a girl who she's been in love with and for whom she waited for all those years couldn't convince her to leave with them, but a random person she met like 1-2 days ago could? WHY??
I genuinely REALLY hope we'll get to see more characters who don't care for Vertin just as much, because honestly atm even self-insert characters in many other games have more diverse relationships with other people around them than a character with such a great background and interesting personality and that's just... sad. I'm not saying they're all supposed to hate her, but maybe let's not give 90% of the cast that undying devotion.

maybe it's because I'm aroace, maybe I just don't understand the concept, but I don't get how people's evaluation on a ship can end with "oh, yes, they're cute". like, okay, they're cute, but what else?? where's the lore? where's the chemistry? what does your "they're cute" even mean in this context? do you like how they look together, do you think their personalities match or??
I've heard people say "I like this ship because they're cute" so many times and I never understood what's that supposed to mean. especially when it's about popular/canon ships that have no lore and no dynamic. sometimes authors write love interests to be just an accessory for the main character while focusing on mc's platonic bonds with other characters, to the point fanon ships end up having way more chemistry and being overall more meaningful than the canon ones. I don't get the concept of liking a canon ship like that just because "they're cute".

do you guys ever have a conversation with someone that just goes
"why do you ship them?"
*gives an an actual answer, points out characters' dynamic and explains their lore*
"bruh why would you write an essay I'm not reading allat"
because I did and it's actually so damn annoying, you asked for an explanation...
p.s. the tags are the ships I'm talking about in this context, also I have no idea what Jyahnar & Kiana ship is called so it's just Jyahnar x Kiana

so we know from the 1.2 stream that Elio promised Blade death, and while he obviously does have a lot of death flags it doesn't mean he will 100% die. yes, Elio can see the future, but keep in mind his ability isn't the same as Aponia's. according to Kafka, he sees the opportunities that the future offers, not something that will inevitably happen.
while Aponia's predictions are bound to happen, Elio needs to indirectly influence the future to reach the desired outcome. so, in order to keep his end of the deal and grant Kafka and Blade their wishes, he will probably need to trigger a series of events that will lead to the outcome they want.
I am not saying Blade won't die. but Elio won't grant him or Kafka their wishes until their mission is over, and from what we know their mission is to help the trailblazer defeat Nanook. Blade posses incredible regeneration abilities to the point he can literally resurrect himself, and while he's no match for an aeon, he definitely qualifies as "all the help the trailblazer can get".
so, unless Elio's plan goes wrong, Blade and Kafka will most likely both stay alive up until the final act.

if I had a nickel for everytime hoyo created a snake-themed green haired doctor who is obsessed with immortality I'd have two nickels. which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice
Tumblr media Tumblr media
p.s. they also have emotionless assistants that resemble a kid. coincidence? I don't think so

one but not the only thing I dislike about genshin is how hoyoverse handles the characters' aging. it's canon that they age, as we get letters from them each birthday, however, nothing about the characters themselves changes. not their looks (not even their clothes), not their behavior, which is odd, considering how many characters should have grown up by now. for example, Fischl's estimated age at the launch was 15-16, it's been three years, so she should be at least 18 now, but she didn't change at all. and Fischl isn't the only character who must've gotten older. if Xiangling was around 14, then she should be 17 now, yet there have been no change to her, not mentally not physically.
and while with teenagers you could just say that 'oh they're old enough they won't grow anymore' this logic won't work with actual kids, like Diona and Yaoyao. if Diona was 12 at the start of the game, that means she should be 15 now, so she should look and act like Fischl, Noelle, Xiangling etc. if it'll take us 6 years to travel to all the regions (5 regions of Teyvat excluding Mondstadt and Liyue obviously + Khaenri'ah) then by the time the game will be ending she'll be around 18? and she will still look like a child? someone explain how aging works to genshin creators I don't think they understand.
and the most annoying part is that there isn't a way to solve this problem, as hoyoverse obviously won't change the characters' models or add more battlesuits of the same character like they'd do in honkai
speaking of honkai, aging is actually something that is handled pretty well there. all the main characters have several battlesuits of them in different times of their life, as well as a variety of skins, another thing genshin should really pay more attention to.
for non-honkai players here's an example so you can understand what I mean.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
this is Bronya at the start of the game, she's around 16 here if I'm not mistaken, then it's her 6 years later and then it's her after a 8 year timeskip. you can see the change clearly.

one thing I hate about mihoyo is the way they bench some of their games to focus on new ones.
and I'm not saying that it's bad to focus on new things, but what they're doing with both genshin and honkai now is simply painful to watch. they shouldn't have starged developing, let alone launching star rail before finishing honkai impact.
recent battlesuit designs were horrible. to be honest I was way more hyped for Elysia's and Kiana's skins rather then Herrscher of Origin and Herrscher of Truth. the way they ended the game is also very dissatisfying. bringing Ai Hyperion to the main story was a horrible idea imo. creating such a character would be an interesting move, if she'd stay an observer, but the moment she interfered with the course of action was when it all started to fall apart. Ai being able to change the plot invalidates all of the things that happened in the game so far, because when you see her breaking the unbreakable shield, you start thinking "oh, she could've saved Himeko", "oh, she could've stopped Otto", and in the end even the sole reason of Kevin's existence is meaningless, as honkai was defeated by the power of friendship. now, I may be exaggerating a bit, but even if I am, we can all clearly see just how lazy was the writing in the recent chapters.
now about genshin. oh boy, this game has a lot more issues to begin with, issues that hoyo refuses to acknowledge and address for some reason, like artifact farming system, pity system, especially on standard and weapon banners, but I could cope with that until recently. but what they did to Dehya feels like a joke. an ult that gets canceled by jumping/freezing? are you kidding me? and about the new story quest too. now, it wasn't as bad, but it didn't give us enough info. and the way they don't feel the need to get deeper into the lore is annoying too. dropping a small piece of information twice a year isn't nearly enough. and the fact that the main events can get so repetitive is a problem too. talking about repetitive, when was the last character with a unique gameplay? Scara, who came out 2 versions ago? as much as I love both Alhaitham and Dehya, their gameplay is literally a copy of other characters' that already exist. same with Baizhu, even though we only saw the beta version for now, it's plain and simple not in a good way. the ultimate is literally a mix of Shenhe's and Alhaitham's.
I understand that it's not easy for hoyoverse to keep everything in check, but that is really not the problem here. the problem is that whenever they focuse on their 'favorite' project, the rest becomes less relevant in their eyes. genshin got less attention than honkai, and now honkai gets the same treatment because of star rail, and it makes me very frustrated

Kusanali is really out there comparing herself to the "real archons" & saying that she's not good enough while one of the archons is an alcoholic, the other faked his death so his people won't disturb him and the third one is the illustration of the "why'd you stop working out?" "I was sad" meme

"Jinx is violent because of Silco" Jinx is violent because she lived in Zaun, where carrying knives & guns around was a normal thing even when Vander was in charge, and those times are considered peaceful. her only role model was her older sister who kept solving all her problems by punching their source in a face (and I mean that literally). she was making bombs since she was seven, and no one tried to stop her. she wouldn't be more stable without Silco & she would continue to kill in order to survive. Zaun's laws made her violent, not Silco himself.

do we like,,,, know why Kaeya used to cover his eye before it was injured? I mean surely the whole "I used to pretend to be a one-eyed pirate so I now have no problem hiding that I can actually only see with one eye" thing is nice & is giving him advantage in a way but why on earth was he even pretending to be a pirate?
if we do have any information about it then please do tell me.
if not, here's my theory: every character who is from Khaenri'ah, except from Albedo, but he isn't exactly human so that doesn't count, is shown covering the right eye/the right side of their face. from the new lore we know that the king of Khaenri'ah left his throne after injuring his right eye. I thought it could be a way for the people of Khaenri'ah to show their respect for their king.
another interesting detail is that, unlike Pierro's mask & Kaeya's eyepatch, Dainsleif's mask doesn't actually cover his eye, just the right side of his face, which could imply that he, who failed to protect Khaenri'ah, doesn't think that he is worthy of this tradition.

genshin fandom, I desperately need someone to help me understand how exactly do visions work.
I've seen some theories on what qualities must one have to be granted a vision (or in simpler words: what similarities do people who got visions from the same archons have), so here's what I got so far:
Anemo vision is granted to people who either are carefree (like Venti, Sayu, Heizo) or seek freedom in some way (Xiao seeks freedom from his karma & never-ending battle with the remnants of evil gods, Kazuha from the burden of being the descendant of Kaedehara clan, Jean from her duties as acting grand master).
then there's Sucrose on whom we don't have much information, but my guess is that her form of "freedom" is her experiments which she can perform in her own individual way.
Pyro vision is given to people who have a burning passion for something (Xianling's passion for cooking, Bennett's for adventuring, Amber's for flights, Xinyan's for music and so on). I'd also like to notice that most of Pyro characters have a special connection with their parents/ancestors (Diluc with his dad, Hu Tao with her grandfather, Bennett with his "dads" in the guild, Klee with her mother Alice), which can also be a symbol of something old burning so something new can emerge from the ashes.
I am not entirely sure about this one, but Electro visions are given to people who are extraordinary (and not always in a good way). as we all know, after Makoto's death, Baal struggled to find her place in the world, so she locked herself inside her own mind to maintain eternity. she felt like she did not belong in this world, and this feeling seems to be common for electro vision bearers (Fischl is being rejected because of her vivid imagination, Beidou had to leave her village because people associated her with death, Razor doesn't belong in human world and was forced to leave his pack, Kuki is rejected by her family etc). then of course there are just people who are extraordinary in a good way (like Lisa, Sumeru academy's brightest student in 100 years, Yae Miko, who's both a writer & the Guuji of Narukami shrine, and let's not forget that Beidou took down a giant sea monster without having a vision).
Cryo vision is given to people who, like the Tsaritsa (according to Childe), are the soft souls who had to harden themselves. you can also say that cryo characters all had to go through a heartbreaking situation (Diona had to rescue her father during a storm, Kaeya had to fight the person closest to him, Eula had to leave her clan & join the Knights who were rather suspicious of her, Shenhe had to fight the monster to whom her father tried to sacrifice her, Ayaka lost her mother + we can assume that the vision hunt decree also made a number on her).
Geo vision is given to hardworking (Ninguang became a Quixing despite coming from a poor family, Albedo keeps on progressing in alchemy, Noelle works hard to become a knight, Yun Jin practices hard to be an opera singer) people with strong morals/loyal people (Ninguang has dedicated her life to defend Liyue, Gorou — to Watatsumi & it's army, Itto is very protective of his gang).
I don't really have a theory or even opinion of my own on this one, but I've heard people saying that Hydro vision is given to those who value "purity" or have pure intentions (like Barbara singing for people to feel better/dedicating herself to be a healer, Mona aiming to become an astrologist without ever making astrology a tool to make money, Childe working for the Fatui so his family can live happily, Kokomi fighting the war for people's rights, and, from what limited information we have, Nilou dancing to bring people together because she believes that art is something that is for everyone).
we can't say much about Dendro yet, but, considering the fact that Sumeru is the land of knowledge, I'd say that thirst for knowledge is the thing that dendro characters have in common (Baizhu is an outstanding pharmacist, and Tighnari's voice line pretty much sums his opinion on dumb people).
that's pretty much it. I would really appreciate it if someone could correct me if I'm wrong

do you ever think about how Vi is actually stuck in the past and not Jinx?
Jinx's mistakes haunt her, that's for sure, but she's trying to let her past die. she's slowly but surely moving on. not forgetting and most definately not forgiving herself, but accepting that this is the reality she lives in.
meanwhile Vi, who's been stuck in a person cell for all those years, still sees the world through the eyes not of a child but a teenager. she sees both Piltover & Zaun as absolute evil. in her eyes Silco is the villain, that's why she told the council that he only wants to destroy Piltover and that he won't negotiate. in reality the only reason Silco was (or would have been, if only he'd survive Jinx's tea party) forced to declare war is the fact that Vi gave chancellors the name. even Cait was willing to protect Jinx's identity, but Vi told them who caused the explosions.
when Jayce accidentally killed that kid, Vi told him that it was the kid's fault. she sees Sevika as a traitor because she works for Silco.
but not "Powder". she never seems to be able to accept that her sister wants to work for Silco. that he's like a father to her.
because Powder is "good" and Silco is "evil".
Vi thinks of everyone who's been a threat to their family all those years ago as her enemy. she feels like the whole world's against her, not realizing that the world has changed alot, but she herself, her opinions & the way she sees things never got the chance to evolve with it.
enforcers killed her biological parents & tried to take Powder away, so she started hating them. Silco tried to kill Vander, so he's the bad guy.
yet she still falls in love with an enforcer and tries everything in her power to save Silco's adoptive daughter.
amazing. arcane is a masterpiece and I'm very curious about the way it'll all turn out.

hello, dead...man wonderland fandom, I made an observation I'd like to share.
I've been rereading my favorite part of the manga (the last chapters) and I noticed an interesting detail. in chapter 54 Sorae brings a toddler [Shiro] to become a subject for their experiments, however, it needs to be older for that.
Tumblr media
so she asks Rinichiro to wait a few years. he agrees...
that's cool and all, buuut...
where has this child been for all the years? did she sent her to an orphanage to take her back later? or did she raised her secretly? because to me it seemed like she was only in charge of Shiro since she actually became her 'patient'.
of course you could say that she's been with her the whole time, but why wouldn't she let Ganta near her then? because this scene looks like their first encounter.
Tumblr media
so Shiro either was somewhere else, which is more logical since Sorae didn't want to see her as her own kid and would much rather send her away to not get too attached to her, or hid her from everyone, which I think is unlikely, because that way, when the time's come, she'd only let her child witness the suffering of anther human being who was brought there as his replacement.

anime with little to no fanservice
I know that ecchi is a big problem for some anime watchers, so I thought I'd make a list of animes that are clean and don't have or have very little fanservice. I'll give you names, posters, plot summaries and my personal ranking. you're free to disagree with the last part.
[ignore the order, it doesn't really mean anything. that's just the order in which I watched these animes]
1. Attack on Titan
I'm pretty sure everyone knows this one, buut I promised so here I go.
Tumblr media
for years, humanity has been living in cities surrounded by enormous walls to protect themselves from titans — human-eating giants roaming the lands outside the walls. Eren Jaeger, who lives in one of these cities, is determined to join survey corps — the branch of Eldian military, that makes regular expeditions to the outside world and takes care of their biggest threat. after his mother was killed by a titan, Eren made a decision to exterminate every last one of them.
my personal ranking: 10/10. I mean, really, what did you expect, it's AOT after all. it's one of the best animes, if not the best one. amazing worldbuilding, great story, well-written characters, beautiful animation, I can go on forever.
2. Violet Evergarden
Tumblr media
after the war, Violet, who used to be a soldier, is trying to settle for a normal life and to find her purpose. she becomes an auto memory doll — a latter writer who's job is to put her client's feelings into words and write them on paper. in the process she is also discovering herself, trying to understand the meaning of her commander's final words.
my personal ranking would also be 10/10. this is the most beatiful anime I've ever seen. it shows different forms of love and acceptance, gives you many things to think about, and the animation simply leaves you stunned.
3. Terror in Resonance
Tumblr media
uh, okay, this one's a little hard to describe, but I'll give it a shot.
Tokyo's under the threat of being destroyed by two terrorists that go by the name "Sphinx". they blow up buildings, trains, but the most terrifying part is that they managed to steal a prototype atomic bomb. they upload videos with riddles for city's police that they must solve in the given time unless they want a bomb to go off. but what's the reason behind all the explosions and what do Sphinx actually want?
my personal ranking would be 9/10. the ending is simply amazing, and the beginning got me thrilled as well, but unfortunately it gets a little boring in the middle to then rise again.
4. Wonder-egg Priority
I just had to add this one, but I must warn you: there is no fanservice, however, this is a psychological anime about people trying to overcome their traumas, and it is pretty dark despite flashy animation and bright visuals. since most of the cast members are females, you should realize that some of the topics in this anime include abuse and/or sexual context, even though it's mostly subtitle.
Tumblr media
Ai Ohito, a middle-school girl, scores a mysterious egg at a deserted arcade. after finding out that there's a world where she can get these eggs and fight to protect the spirits of the dead to obtain something in exchange, even a dead person, Ai decides to keep on fighting to bring her only friend, who recently committed suicide, back to life. in the process she meets three more girls, who also got people they want back.
my rating is 8-9/10. it was very hard for me in the beginning, when the main villains looked like colorful monstrous toys, and I had to take them seriously. however, the longer you watch, the more you understand and get used to the oddly vivid colors. if you are a fan of psychological anime, this one's for you.
5. Ergo Proxy
here we go, anther psychological anime :)
Tumblr media
Re-L Mayer is dedicated to discover the true nature of Proxies: the creatures that are kept inside of the city, an utopia where people and AI, autoreivs, can coexist. but there are many things in her way, and one of them is a cogito virus, a dangerous disease that only infects autoreivs, giving them self-awareness and either causing to evolve or to lose their minds. the other problem is the city's Regent, her grandfather, who desperately fights to hide any information their labs have on Proxies.
my rating is 7-8/10. not much to say here, honestly, it's just a very good psychological anime with very little sexual context.
6. Another
this one's mostly gore, I must admit, but there's very little fanservice in it, except maybe for a beach episode, which... didn't even last a whole episode, but I won't tell you why ;)
Tumblr media
Koichi Sakakibara is a transfer student in Yomiyama middle school. he's sent to class 3, a class that holds a dark secret. in his new school he encounters Mei Misaki for the second time, and tries to talk to her. however, the girl insists on that he shouldn't talk to her, or something terrible will happen. later she explains to him that it's one of the class' rules, but Sakakibara keeps ignoring it, leading the rest of the class to start pretending he doesn't exist in order to avoid getting killed by the curse.
my rating is 7-8/10. as you may have already guessed, I like dark anime, and "Another" is a good horror mystery that I would definately recommend to anyone who's into the genre. also, the opening is amazing.
7. Tower of God
I have my doubts about putting this one on the just since it's Korean and not Japanese, but, well, here it is.
Tumblr media
Rachel, a girl who wants to see the stars more than anything, decides to abandon her friend Baam in order to climb the Tower of God. however, Baam seems very attached to her, so he tries to follow her right to the top. rumor has it, if you climb the Tower, you can have anything. both of them will face different obstacles and meet new people, but who will come in top in the end?
my rating is 8/10. I really enjoyed it, I just say, even though the drawing style wasn't exactly pretty and the story was rather typical.
8. Takt Op. Destiny
Tumblr media
it's 2047, any form of music is forbidden in order to protect people from dangerous creatures from space — D2. New York city has created a weapon to fight these monsters. these weapons are called musicards and maestros (conductors). musicards originate from certain human and posses the power to destroy the black stones — the cores of D2, that can't be harmed by conventional weapons, and conductors are there to help them by directing their attacks. Destiny is a newborn musicart who can not fully control her powers, so she's accompanied by two people to New York Symphonica for the fix. these people are Takt Asahina, her maestro, and Anna Schneider, the sister of Cosette, who became Destiny's vessel.
I rated it 7/10. the animation is good, it's funny and light, not anything like other animes on the list. all characters are loveable, even though not very good-written (except for a few, that is).
9. The Promoted Neverland
Tumblr media
Emma is an orphan, who lives her peaceful life in Grace Field House with her friends and a loving caretaker. their life is almost idyllic, except for one little thing: not under any circumstances are they allowed to live the orphanage grounds. however, kids don't seem to see a problem: they talk about where they'll go after they get adopted. one night, Emma and Norman accidently discover the truth about the place they've been living in for all this time. they find a dead body of Conny, who was supposed to be adopted. start to make an escape plan before any more lives will be taken.
my rating is 7/10. I can't say I didn't like it, but it's not one of my favorites either. it can get a little weird sometimes, and we don't talk about second season (still, I wouldn't say it's as bad as our fandom thinks, even though it was rushed).
10. Angels of Death
Tumblr media
Rachel Gardner wakes up in a strange place that looks like a hospital with some of her memories missing. while trying to find a way out of this place, she finds an elevator that takes her to the floor below, where she encounters a mysterious bandaged up man with a scythe, who tells her he will give her a chance to run away before he killes her. Rachel runs for her life, back to the same floor, where she meets her doctor. Zack, the bandaged man, follows her there. but during her time on the floor, Rachel obtains some of her memories, leading her to make a pact with Zack: if she can help him get out of the building, he will kill her after that.
