pet peeve. luffy is always rubber, nothing is capable of making him Not Rubber, not seawater or seastone

#working theory for this is bc of the whole nika thing #i take this to mean that being a zoan means that these qualities are. inherent to him? i guess? but when he’s underwater or in shackles— #—he can’t control it #but it’s still like. there #this isn’t based on much given that seastone seems to have suuuper unpredictable effects on different people #and we haven’t seen much of what it does to zoans #i think the most we get is marco’s healing abilities getting extinguished when they cuff him at marineford? #but that’s an ability he has In Addition to being a phoenix so we don’t actually know what it would’ve done to him if he was shifted #and we have a couple instances of zoans. unshifting ig when they’re knocked out ie involuntary unconsciousness nullifies abilities #which we do have a precedence for among df users in general #page one kaido and…lucci? iirc. they shift back to human when they’re taken out but the circumstances of those are kinda shaky too #especially bc we don’t have a lot of info on how zoan dfs. work. reverting Could be a matter of going back to a ‘weakened’ form at defeat #but i digress. heavily #irt luffy the one (1) scene that comes to mind for his stretchiness is when he almost drowns at arlong park #bc he doesn’t have the strength or dexterity to dtretch his neck out himself so nojiko has to do it for him but he can still stretch yknow #luffy #this doesnmt make a lot of sense but. gestures vaguely. yeah #i DO want to see whqt seastone would do to chopper though because his base form is a reindeer #and. for that matter. brook. is his devil fruit Just the ability to have brought him back or is it responsible for letting him be how he is
