A reminder: L'manburg was not founded to fight tyranny. It was founded as a drug van and dressed up as a fight against tyranny in order to gain sympathy for their side. But L'manburg was founded by a dictator, its first democratic election was originally supposed to be rigged in Wilbur's favour and was designed to cement Wilbur's place as the leader of L'manburg. Its founding was about drugs and power, and if you think it's about fighting tyranny you've fallen for the propaganda L'manburg released and the revisionist history Ghostbur — a known unreliable narrator — wrote.

I hate the phrase apologist so much. I’m not an APOLOGIST I’m an ENJOYER. I’m not trying to justify c!Phil blowing up his child’s pet but I ENJOY his character and think he has complex and interesting motivations outside of being a father. I don’t agree with c!Jack Manifold wanting to hurt Tommy but I ENJOY watching him be a fucked up and evil little man. I’m not excusing c!Wilbur for blowing up a country but I ENJOY his dramatic bitchy monologues and think he shouldn’t be so demonized due to his mental illness.
Normalized not entirely agreeing with a character from a moral standpoint yet enjoying watching them be fucked up and evil because it’s entertaining and funny.

"would you like to yourself?"
"yeah, actually. i write down things in my books that I sometimes want to forget so it alters my actual memory, 'cause the books are actually a lot more powerful than I first made them out to be."

Dream SMP: Common Misconceptions
(Please correct me if I’m wrong about any of these!)
- Niki did NOT fight in the L’manburg War for independence. She joined after Jack Manifold did, after the war ended. Her first big war on the server was the Pet War.
(There were no women in L’manburg at the time of Fundy’s birth, after all. Hence the salmon thing)
- Tommy was the one to press the button in the Final Control Room first, not Eret. He was wondering what its function was and pressed it with a carrot.
- Sapnap didn’t kill Spirit. Spirit died to mobs while Sapnap was riding them.
- The leather that Tommy has is not Spirit’s leather. Sapnap accidentally used the wrong piece of leather, the real leather, to craft an item frame for Spirit’s memorial.
- Sam did not join the server in Election era. He was, I believe, the fifth? member to be added to the server, just before Alyssa. He just took a long hiatus and became more active on the server much later.
- Canon deaths are a narrative device, not a game mechanic. Characters might kill each other in an important battle, but if those deaths aren’t consequential to the story and all the character arcs, they aren’t canon. That’s why none of the deaths on Doomsday were canon. The battle was important, but the deaths themselves were not.
- Fundy’s character is canonically older than Tommy and Tubbo, despite being born after them. This is because Fundy functions like a phoenix and gets reborn.
- Fundy’s L’manburg uniform was different from the others because before he officially joined the revolution, he had to make his own suit and used crayons to color it, and he didn’t have the expensive set of crayons with the right colors.
- Fundy was born when Wilbur cut off his toe and it grew. He did not come out of a fish or fish eggs.
- The Camarvan looked like a pile of dirt by the end because the L’manburgians tore it down right after the war with plans to rebuild it, and after a while of not doing it, Tommy and Wilbur decided to rebuild it in the same place it was. They just did so very, very poorly.
- Dream disabled phantoms on the server around the time of the L’manburg War. Techno had membranes in his possession because he did a deal with Tommy, not because he was given them as forbidden items by Drista.
The reason Tommy was the only one on the server with access to membranes is because before Quackity joined the server, he and Quackity did a heist (Quackity in VC) where he went around stealing membranes from every other member, gaining a complete monopoly on the supply. This was part of their Cartel plot.
(There’s pretty much nothing written on the Wiki about the Cartel plotline, which is why this isn’t as well-known)
- The voice in Ranboo’s head is not actually Dream. It isn’t Dream trying to convince Ranboo that he’s not real, it just literally isn’t Dream.
- L’mantree is a lie. It wasn’t actually there from the beginning.

WAIT. I think I might have connected some dots. or maybe not, maybe I didn't connect shit.
so I was rewatching ranboo's latest conversation with dream/himself (question mark?), and I started thinking about how dream said that ranboo has been helping him all along.
While they were trying to resurrect wilbur they all stumbled upon the prison and Ranboo casually mentioned that he visited it. I remember being so confused. like you did that?? when?? but I brushed it off because maybe he just meant that he had an offscreen non-canon tour of the prison.
but now that I think about it they were very much in lore mode™ during that stream and ranboo is the first one who pays very close attention to lore and his character in what he knows, what he says and what he can and can't remember...
so what if he had something to do with the prison? what if he actually helped dream with it? what if he has been there before, in character, exactly because of this?
