no thoughts just buck and eddie talking after being both single again, at the diaz house for dinner and video games, chris waiting in the living room, the two of them standing in the kitchen getting beer, and one of them saying to the other "at least we'll always have this", and eddie looking at buck with a hand on his shoulder and saying "this goes beyond friendship, evan, i love you to the core" and them staring at each other, no other words spoken, and then buck kisses eddie, his hands gripping his face, but not hard enough that eddie couldn't pull back, but eddie doesn't pull back, he leans into it, reaches and grabs at buck's back, pulling him closer, everything clicking all at once and eddie realizing that this is what was missing, the reason he always moved so fast, because he was running away from what he really wanted, and maybe it's time to stop running, and maybe- buck pulls away first, leaning his forehead against eddie's, both of them breathing heavily, not wanting to be the first to move away, and buck goes "was that okay" and instead of answering eddie pulls him back in and the second kiss is better than the first, with buck turning them and pressing eddie against the counter, both trying hard to be quiet, but failing and knocking the fruit bowl off the counter, causing them both to jump apart, and before they can say anything to each other, talk about it, what it means and where do they go from here, chris is calling for them to hurry up, and eddie looks at buck and says "come on, our son is waiting for us" and leaves buck in the kitchen, and buck watches him leave, shock written on his face, before it changes into a smile, his eyes growing wet as he follows, sitting down on the couch next to his family.

i know no one needs to be reminded of this, but honestly i think it's so wild that we got four different iterations of tommy kinard from s2 to s7, and each time there has been growth. an epitome of the show's thesis of you are not your worst moment, that there is always a way to grow and learn, and be better

and i think it's so wonderful that at his fourth iteration, the grown and better version of the one we first met, is also now the confident queer man brave enough to shoot his shot at evan buckley

the more i watch it, the more i love every damn beat of the buddie loft scene. because eddie's reaction is exactly how i wanted it, it is how it should be. a bit of surprised, some wonder, a bit of curiousity, but most of all, filled with so, so much love and care. no scene has ever captured their unbreakable friendship better than this. wow.
