brendan fraser broke down in tears bc a film he’s involved in (the whale) got a six minute standing ovation, and I just can’t stop thinking about 1. how happy I am for him bc he’s one of my forever faves and 2. how badly he’s been treated. this is an incredible moment for him, but it’s important to note that it comes after years and years and years of his aging body being CONSTANTLY compared to the peak of his physicality/youth. the endless videos and posts (from tiktok to magazines to twitter photo sets to texting your friend about how hot he used to be) talking about his glow down and how he let his looks go to “waste”. it’s taken him this long to break thru his personal trauma and the internet’s correlation of his “worth” w his appearance. and now he’s in the news crying bc people are once again witnessing his talent, and measuring him by that instead of his weight

Charlie may feel trapped not just physically but his love&regret as well...

David is unapologetic yet still eager for the welcome of his family...

Both of them may feel sort of powerless when it comes to their issues

Also, I love the concept of this is me trying by Taylor Swift

TS mentions there are many people who deal with addictions(whatever it is) in their daily life while other people can't fathom how hard it is for them to maintain to be just "normal" and it makes me think about Charlie. Some may say he is lazy... or fat, but they don't know he may have tried all he can to be there for someone. This is my first thought before really getting to see how Brendan portrays this character. Brendan says Charlie has the superpower to see the good in people...I really really hope when people finally, get watching this film, they can, even for once, grow empathy for others around them, no matter what sex they are, what color they are, how old they are...or how different their lives are from themselves... Cause they may experience something bigger than they can never imagine.
