My entry for the @kirbyoctournament!

Name: Daisy waddle dee

personality: Daisy is cheerful,optimistic,and friendly. She is can be a bit pushy and overbearing sometimes especially when it comes to the things she's passionate about. Overall Daisy is very social and easy to befriend however,she can be a bit too trusting of others....

I don't have a lot of lore planned out at the moment so here is some facts about her.

• Daisy lives in waddle dee town

• She tends to feel sleepy when she stays out in the sunlight for too long. Thankfully she's a light sleeper so it's easy to wake her up.

• Daisy also makes her own blends of tea! But sadly she has never had the opportunity to try bubble/boba tea

• She loves the rain but cannot stand lightning and thunder

• Her favorite flower is the sunflower (but Daisies are a close second)

Notes on Personality: A shy and sensitive soul who is tricky to befriend due to past trauma, but when you are able to, you’ll earn a strong and loyal friend who’ll always keep your secrets and cause bloodshed for your safety.

Backstory and Lore: (TW// Implied Ab§se from Family? Maybe, just be careful.)

(Hoo boy, here we go bc their lore is LONG but I wanna make you guys invested in them so I don’t get voted out first round, so I will do it.)

Section One - Origins.

Elys was once 07. A hollow “heir” of Zero. An angel created by the same Dark Matter to soon cause destruction, like their creator. But they weren’t able to fight yet, so instead they were made to sit in Zero’s shadow. That, and darkened hearts, were the only thing they knew. And it would’ve stayed that way if Zero didn't invade a specific star-shaped planet.

That was where Elys caught their first glimpse of the Star Warrior - Kirby themselves. To Elys, Kirby was so happy… so brave, and most importantly… So kind... Something Elys had never recieved before then. And as they battle between them and Zero raged on, Elys felt a tinge of emotion for the first time, making them question if their current routes were truly right for them.

Then, Zero was felled by the pink puffball, making Elys uncharacteristicly admire their strength from afar. Soon afterwards, Kirby and Elys’ gazes met, making the dark angel panic and disappear as quickly as it happened.

They would not return to the planet… Not for three whole years.

Section 2 - Redemption. (TW starts here!)

After Zero (Now 02) was resurrected, they knew Kirby was a force to reckoned with and so, became more stricter and aggressive to Dark Matter that served them, including the now-different Elys. Now forcing them into relentless and rigorous training and battles upon planets they’d invade. Training Elys in hopes they could use them to win against the Star Warrior. Elys would gain some mental scars from this, but ever since the day they saw Kirby, they had hope that they’d save them from this torture… Even if it seemed slim.

Three years later, Zero 02 would invade Ripple Star, possess Queen Ripple and assign Elys to unknowingly protect them from Kirby. Five worlds, twenty-seven stages and seventy-three crystal shards later, five figures would enter the castle where the darkened angel waited in fear. A Waddle Dee, a girl in a red beret, a large penguin, a fairy who seems like they were from here and… Kirby? Kirby. The pure-hearted puffball they kept in their heart since long ago. This would heighten Elys’ anxieties. They weren’t going to have to FIGHT Kirby… Were they!? It was cruel… too cruel. And so, they did something they never thought they’d do… Desperately refuse their creator’s demands... But unfortunately, their cries of mercy from such a fate were met with heartlessness. 02 controlled them afar and made them fight the Star Warrior unwillingly.

But unlike, Zero 02, they were not as powerful. They were quickly beaten, and 02’s hold against them withered away, just like it did to Queen Ripple… Upon waking, the angel and the Star Warrior’s eyes met once more, but Elys - ashamed of their weakness - flew away to hide once more, only to quickly return to Kirby after some introspection.

After they saw each other again They’d silently greet another for the first time… Elys with a softer expression and Kirby with their trademarked adorable smiles. Though no words were said, it was certain the pink puffball had changed their life for the better, and so they cast away their old name and vowed to fix any mistakes Dark Matter could’ve caused… With them making new, happier memories as they did so.

END! Holy fuckin shit that was wearisome to write, but it was so worth it. Hopefully reading that makes you enjoy Elys as much as I do. They’re pretty much my pride and joy of my Kirby OCs, other than Bamblush, but their lore is still being figure out so I chose them. :)

Might repost some art I made of them with some simple and hopefully less overinformative facts, so yeah look out for that.

5. How would you describe your art style?

This is a tricky one! I find it hard to pin down my art style, it's very loose and I'm always trying to evolve it. A comment I've gotten on it that made me smile was that my art style is reminiscent of the ":]" emoticon.

I think my most obvious style thing is the black lineart with the gaps I do. There's absolutely zero intentionality behind the gaps -- it's just the most natural way for me to do lines lol. I've also been experimenting with slightly colored lineart recently.

19. Where do you find inspiration?

I'm inspired a lot by music I listen to! There are a good number of drawings I've made that've just been inspired by like a song off a Kirby OST. Here's a few good examples.

Another big source of inspiration for me is my friends. Mega-talented genius-brain artists. Always eating their stuff up so nice.
