"Alarm!" Sarah yelled, waking you up.

Oh shit. You quickly lost all the tiredness that would have plagued you, if you weren't inches from being caught. You shook Joel quietly & he groaned.

"Five more minutes-" He begged, being completely interrupted & shouted over by Sarah.

"I'm going to make breakfast, please turn off that alarm!"

Joel's eyes opened as wide as yours, his voice fell to a whisper, "Shit."

Without another word, you two knew you had to hurry. Joel tossed you your shirt before quickly pulling up his pants. Once ready, Joel slowly opened the door, lifting his finger to his lips before turning to the hallway. He led you downstairs before signaling for you to wait as he walked into the kitchen.

"I made you coffee," Sarah spoke as she prepared some eggs.

"Thank you," Joel murmured, "Hey, when's your next soccer game again? I want to make sure I get time off work."

As the two began talking, you made your silent break for the door. You opened the door & had made it to freedom. The taste of freedom was short, as Mercy, the neighbor's dog, pounced on you. You fell to the ground with a thud, Mercy took the chance to climb on top of you & lick your face.

"Y/N?" Sarah asked, pan of eggs in hand, "What are you doing in my house?"

You got Mercy off of you & stood up, brushing off your legs, "Oh hey, Sarah! I came to see your father. Can't a friend pop in on another friend, just for a chat?"

Quick thinking. Sarah looked you up & down. You wouldn't admit it to yourself, but you already knew your lie wasn't working.

"You're not wearing shoes," she picked apart your lie.

"Oh!" You feigned shock, "I must've forgotten them. I'm so tired."

You let out a chuckle but Sarah was not convinced, she pushed further.

"You're wearing my dad's nerd shirt," she gestured towards the 'Curtis & The Viper' shirt you were wearing.

Shit. Joel didn't hand you your shirt, he handed you his. Joel was blushing profusely from his spot behind Sarah. She turned to look at him & he hid his face behind the coffee mug.

"Dad? What is going on?"

Joel lowered his coffee mug in defeat, "Y/N & I are... erm..."

"Together?" Sarah sounded excited.

"I- yes," Joel stammered.

"I knew it!" Sarah shoved the egg pan into Joel's free hand, "Hold this!"

Sarah ran up & hugged you, she had been waiting for this moment for a long time.

"What do you mean you knew?" You asked.

"Y/N, I'm fourteen; not stupid."

Joel chuckled & pulled the two of you into a hug. Happily ever after?
