Scout:

literally a fucking DORK around you. tries to impress you constantly with anything and everything he has, ranging from his skill set to his appearance to his personal belongings and much more.

always finds excuses to spend time with you and it can be the most asanine ones in existence. oh? you have free time tomorrow? let’s go take a run down the street. you miss your puppy that got lost when you were a kid? let’s go to the ends of the earth to find it.

made you borrow his jacket/shirt once because he accidentally spilled a drink all over your shirt. once he saw you in it, he nearly died and didn’t want it back. takes it back anyway due to his pride and though he seems outwardly okay with it, he secretly doesn’t wash the clothing for a long while.

his flirtatious behavior around other people goes down immensely. scout becomes strictly loyal to you once his crush grows stronger and can’t bear the thought of talking with someone else, even if you don’t like him back. it just doesn’t sit with him right.

Soldier:

soldier is much softer and kinder around you. he restrains himself from using any harsh words that could hurt your feelings and tries to slow down on your training.

shows you his pets!! one of his prized possessions that he won’t allow anyone else to touch, like ever. he trusts you to love and take care of them the same way he does.

everyone has to respect you. if they even give you a slight problem, he’ll get on their case about it and probably give them hell before they could even mutter out an apology. you deserve respect and he’s gonna make sure you get nothing less.

lots of supportive comments from him! even if it’s something small, he’ll grin at you proudly and yell out a, “good job, cupcake! you did great!” while giving you a strong pat in the back or an approving nod.

Pyro:

pyro is usually sweet and kind with a certain crowd and tries to do the best they can for others, but with their crush? it’s a whole different story. they’re absolutely head over heels for them.

like a lovesick puppy; they will follow you wherever they go with a skip in their step. like, i mean they’ll follow you everywhere. “no, pyro you can’t follow me to the bathroom-!” they don’t really listen but patiently wait outside anyway.

one of the many mercs who won’t hesitate to show affection and sees nothing wrong in it. runs up to them and holds their hand firmly with a happy hum, hugs them more than usual, and just straight up gives you all their attention.

Demoman:

oh boy, if tavish has a crush on you, he’ll show it when he’s absolutely wasted. demo will literally smother you with affection regardless of where you both are and literally latch onto you every second he gets a chance to.

lots of drunk ramblings; he’ll lay his head on your shoulder or lap while he mindlessly slurs about how amazing you are, what his favorite thing is about you, and so much more.

it’s pretty obvious at that point demo likes you so you admit your liking to him pretty quick and it’s funny how shocked he gets. “ya knew i liked ya?!” yes, demo, they did.

when he’s sober, he’s much more shy with it and controls his actions a lot more. apologizes for his behavior while drunk. tavish exhibits more gentleman behavior, from opening doors to making you a decent dinner and just basically ensuring your comfortability.

Heavy:

heavy is very mature and will accept his feelings pretty quick compared to the others. it’s a 50/50 chance with him; if they feel the same, that’s great! if they don’t, then.. he’d have no choice but to move on. that’s how life works.

once he does accept it, be expecting a lot of mother hen behavior; he literally watches your every move to make sure you’re safe and healthy. even if you are, he goes out of his way to give you things whenever he knows you’re around; a homemade meal, a blanket, probably some candy. your smile is already more than enough to make up for the little things he does for you. 

no one will ever dare to hurt you around heavy (or just in general, really). he senses danger and issues pretty quickly, so it’s easy for him to detect any bad intentions. he’s like that scary bodyguard who looms behind you, glaring at anyone who radiates rancid vibes to scare them away.

Medic:

probably takes a while to accept or realize it cause he’s always so preoccupied in his lab, being busy and all. but once he does realize it, it’s sort of foreign to him at first, so of course, he goes to heavy to speak about his emotions. after being told it was a crush, he pays attention to you a lot more than usual, sometimes even without him noticing.

he gets all giddy when you’re around and although it’s not the jumpy, squealing giddy, it’s certainly one shown through happy greetings and continuous conversations that seem to be never ending. (you don’t mind though)

makes up random appointments and checkups for the smallest things just to see you and gets very, very excited whenever you decide to come to visit him without his knowledge. nearly drops everything just to attend to you.

he talks to archimedes so much about you that his precious pet basically knows who you are based off his owners reactions and automatically flies to you whenever you enter his lab. that bird is a lot smarter than you think. they get along with you pretty well and medic melts whenever he sees you talk to his birds like he does and play with them.

Sniper:

bless his heart, the poor man will literally faint around his crush. just the sight of them flusters him to his core, and don’t even get me started on their little habits and that godforsaken smile. [hes literally almost died when they grinned at him]

he’s already so reserved and quiet as he is, but around them, it’s even worse. he’s always so scared he’s gonna scare them away or say something stupid, but he eventually lets go of the fear and tries to muster up the courage to talk to you.

once he does, he spends a lot of his time with you, often inviting you out to drive around with him or just simply sit outside and enjoy the breeze. he talks a lot more than usual and though he doesn’t completely open up about his past just yet, he does indirectly hint that he trusts you more than anyone in his life.

lots of sleepless nights when he realizes he’s in love. he does everything to take you off his mind but all fails in the end and he’s kept wide awake thinking about what you two could be. from then on, it becomes increasingly difficult to keep his cool around you and silently begs you’ll confess one day or he’ll lose it.

Engineer:

sweetheart mode: activated. like it’s not a big switch up, since he’s naturally a gentleman but it’s noticeable enough. you’ll notice that your nicknames will start slowly forming to more romantic ones and how he blushes with a smile everytime it leaves his lips.

the other mercs can tell when dell has a crush; he blushes a lot more than usual and they catch him smiling more than once by himself. they realize it when you approach him and he automatically fixes himself to look presentable without a second breath. his voice also changes to a much happier and giddy tone, it’s so cute!

stares at you from a distance a lot or whenever you’re distracted with something. half of the time he doesn’t even realize he’s doing so but once he catches himself, he blushes and looks away, silently telling himself to quit it. often you’ll catch him staring at you, but you ignore it for his sake and laugh to yourself when he smiles back and waves shyly.

Spy:

takes a long while before he actually accepts the crush, seeing that he’s a very secretive and reserved person but once he does, you best believe you’ll be spoiled and loved by this man. lots of gentleman behavior!! opening doors, buying you gifts, giving you his coat, and all that fancy stuff.

teases you a lot more than he should; he enjoys your reactions. he’ll lean in close enough where your fingers brush slightly, tilt your chin up when he talks to you and makes intense eye contact while doing so. whenever he gets too close or the moment gets too tense, he backs away with a smirk and pretends as if nothing happens.

he listens to you and anything you have on your mind. his door is literally open for you 24/7 and even if you come knocking at 3 am, he’ll let you in and listen to what you have to say. you think he’s not listening cause he’s very unresponsive but when you’re finished and about to leave, he gives really good advice and tells you quietly that he’s there for you in an indirect way. depending how close he is to you, he’ll let out an experience or two about him to put you at comfort and as thanks for confiding in him. he then walks you back to your room with a simple nod and goodnight.

Heavy:

a really understanding & supportive boyfriend! as long as what you wanna do doesn’t deal with any life threatening things or puts you in a position where you’re vulnerable to danger, he’s more than supportive with it.

you’ll never doubt yourself around heavy; he makes it very known he loves you and that you’re more than enough. there’s not a day that goes by where he doesn’t give that reminder to you. eventually, you don’t need it and know from your heart he’s loyal and genuinely in love with you.

he’s a very good listener. when you talk about anything you like, he takes note of it quietly and makes sure to write it down later. you’d be surprised when he makes you your favorite dish out of the blue or comes back home with your favorite flower in his hand.

even on your bad days, he’ll listen to you until you finish and give simple but useful advice if asked. if not, he’ll open his arms for you to crawl in and comfort you until you’re ready to get back on your feet. you could stay there for hours and he wouldn’t mind, not one bit. heavy is very patient anyways.

such!! a!! good!! cuddler!! he’s literally sooo warm and comfy to cuddle with. heavy probably gives the best bear hugs ever amongst all the mercs. his favorite cuddle position is you laying in his arms as he cradles you close to his body while he gently strokes your head.

a very protective boyfriend. not in the manner where he won’t allow you to do this and that but he will be very cautious with your surroundings, ensuring that you are for sure safe and not put into any danger. if he’s aware there may be danger or has a gut feeling about something happening, he will accompany you just to make sure nothing happens. (you know he’ll literally break anyone in half if they dare to hurt you in any way shape or form.)

will never yell at you on purpose. heavy isn’t the type to raise his voice at his loved ones and if it does somehow slip past his lips during an arguement or disagreement, he’ll apologize endlessly and make it up to you. the last thing he wants to do is hurt you, whether physically or emotionally. (soft boy vibes,,)

Sniper:

“do you ever regret being with a bloke like me?” sniper muttered, lightly caressing his s/o’s hair as they embraced his torso tightly. their limbs were tangled together as they held each other in their shared bed inside snipers camper.

with a quick movement, they pulled back to stare up at the mercenary with an expression of disbelief. “what kind of question is that?”

sniper shrugged, keeping his hand on their hip. “just wonderin’.”

bullshit, they thought with a frown. the expression on snipers face screamed anything but curiousity and figured it was one of his moments he had from time to time- though, sometimes it stung their heart everytime he felt this way.

“mundy,” they whispered and scooted closer to him, their hand snaking up to caress his cheek gently. he leaned into their touch, staring down at them. “i don’t ever regret being with you, not ever. you know that right?”

he averted his eyes elsewhere uncomfortably and they shook their head, lightly tapping his cheek to grab his attention. “look at me.”

sniper did so with hesitation and they smiled up at him softly, a soft sigh escaping their lips, “meeting you was the best thing that’s ever happened to me,” they reassured him with a comforting tone, and he melted into their touch once more, “every hard thing in my life feels worth it. it all led me to you.”

their hand moved from his face to his hand, pulling it up to their lips. they murmured against the skin of his knuckles, closing their eyes. sniper gazed at them with a dazed expression, his eyes softening at the sight of his s/o lightly kissing his knuckles. “and if i had to go through everything again just to have you in my arms, i would do so without a heartbeat.”

and that was more than enough for him to break; his heart swelled with absolute love that he’s always yearned to have in his life, a grin growing on his face. “c’mere you.” he used his elbows to prop himself up above them and placed a passionate kiss on their lips without another word, pushing them further into the bed. they snaked their around his shoulders as they pulled him closer, sighing contently against his lips.

after a few moments, he pulled away, leaning his forehead on theirs as he spoke huskily, his breath fanning their lips. “i’d be liar if i said i didn’t feel the same.” he gave them no time to respond as he locked them into another breathtaking kiss, this one far more passionate than the previous kiss.

Scout:

he’s petulant about the whole thing. he’s childish to the core and doesn’t handle jealousy very well despite his constant confident attitude.

scout glares at the person angrily and tries to be intimidating by insulting them, but honestly, he looks like an angry puppy or a kid wanting their candy back, so the person doesn’t take him seriously.

whines about it loudly the whole day and literally doesn’t shut the fuck up. he’s super cranky, it’s almost irritable, and never admits he’s jealous until you push it out of him. honestly, just give the poor boy a kiss so he can calm the fuck down.

Soldier:

doesn’t like the feeling. will not deal with the feeling. gets to work right away with no hesitation to get rid of whatever is bothering him.

will call out the person, using such colorful language and terms you weren’t aware he knew about and you’d watch as he absolutely obliterated the person with just his words alone. it’s honestly more than enough to scare them off and he radiates with pride once they do.

if it weren’t for his s/o being around to stop him, jane would’ve gladly snapped the persons neck or absolutely tortured them with his yelling.

Pyro:

you’ve fucked up my guy, big time. i don’t know what you were thinking, but you obviously don’t value your life.

they don’t quite understand what’s happening at first but immediately picks up their s/o’s discomfort, quickly angering them. pyro deems them as a threat to their s/o and mumbles angrily while bringing a hatchet out, ready to cut the person limb by limb. no one is allowed to make their other half feel that way and they won’t let it happen.

the person will be running in no time due to pyros behavior and once they’re gone for sure, they turn around and embrace their s/o tightly with a happy squeal as if they didn’t just threaten someone moments ago. they also caress their hair comfortingly just in case the situation has affected them.

Demoman:

he’s really insecure initially so the whole thing just makes it a lot worse than it’s supposed to be. demo already has the mindset that he doesn’t deserve his other half and crumbles just seeing the scene play out in front of them.

if he’s drunk, he’ll just tell the person off with a glower and scare them away with insults or his usual, crazy behavior. if he’s sober, he’ll handle the situation a lot better, simply excusing you both from the person with a glare and scowl. he’ll keep a close eye on them just in case.

either way, he’ll become unusually clingy with his s/o, often latching onto them like he hasn’t seen them in years. demos already clingy as he is but once someone deems as a threat to take his s/o away, he’s basically all over his other half in hopes to get the message across to the person and to let his s/o know that he loves them more than anyone.

Heavy:

barely gets jealous because he trusts that his s/o will do the right thing, even when he’s not around. all in all, he just doesn’t trust the other person. following that, he will watch the other person if they try anything funny. that’s when he’ll step in.

will show signs of discomfort over jealousy, often just standing on the side, hoping his s/o will get the sign that he wants to leave. if they don’t, he’ll gently pull their hand and speak; “we must go.” even if they protest, he will pull them elsewhere.

he’s one of the mercs who handles his jealousy/discomfort maturely and takes his s/o somewhere private to speak about his feelings; “misha did not like the way they looked at (y/n).” once they comfort him, he will feel relieved and brush off the situation. he’s just really protective and wants to make sure that everyone knows they’re taken.

Medic:

part 2 of do you even value your life, my good man. this man will literally fucking saw you in half and steal your organs if you cross his line.

he’s quiet at first, observing the situation with the biggest scowl ever as the person speaks to his s/o so daringly. youd think he’s handling it well due to his calmness, but little do you know, he already has something planned. his s/o watches as the person turns white upon looking behind them and runs off with barely a goodbye, leaving them absolutely bewildered.

“what was that all about?” they questioned with a raised brow, staring at the person who continued to run off. medic chuckled and pushed his amputator back into his coat with a menacing smile. “i am not so sure myself, liebe.”

Sniper:

he doesn’t like jealousy and he definitely doesn’t know how to handle it well. doesnt tell his s/o he’s jealous and denies it even though it was deathly obvious. depending the intensity of the situation, he can handle it a little more maturely and some days, well..

if it’s a simpler situation, such as them just casually flirting with his s/o, he’ll just growl under his breath as he shoots sharp glares at the person. his glare becomes so aggressive that the person just ultimately feels uncomfortable and walks away to avoid his stare.

if they don’t walk away and decide to pull bold moves on his s/o, he’ll step in with an angered expression and shoo them away himself. “oi! scram, ya damn weasel! take your business elsewhere!” he’ll let out a string of curses as they run away, not realizing the position he put himself in. once he does realize his s/o chuckling at his behavior, he’ll blush furiously and deny the fact that he was jealous or just walk away, holding his s/o’s hand with his hat tilted down.

Engineer:

he’ll try to smile through it, not wanting to lose his cool in front his s/o and greet the person formally as their boyfriend. he’ll really emphasize it; “howdy, my name is dell. i see you’ve already met my lovely partner.”

but if they take it a notch too far, such as swinging an arm around their shoulder, his nice guy facade ultimately breaks and he won’t hesitate to show it, quietly threatening them; “now ya keep your filthy hands off my sweetheart or things are gonna get real ugly.”

if he does lose his cool somehow, he’ll drag his s/o elsewhere and apologize to them for his behavior and explain how he felt about the situation. he’ll make it up to them by bringing them to dinner or just simply spending time together.

Spy:

doesn’t show he is one bit and keeps himself composed during the whole ordeal. he’ll throw the occasional insult or comeback here and there with a scowl, but just watch on the sides for the most part.

sometimes he’ll become very affectionate whenever someone has their eye on them and makes sure that he sends the message that they’re definitely not available; a kiss on the neck, an occasional hug from behind, intertwined fingers is more than enough.

and if the person doesn’t get the message or outright chooses to disregard it? well, i hope they enjoy a knife dug deep into their back the next morning.

Hi I don’t know if you’re an angst person but I hope you consider my request. May I request the mercs with an s/o that gets diagnosed with a terminal illness that has no cure and could potentially be fatal? How do they deal with the idea that they could die?

Scout:

scared to death for them. his face grows white upon hearing the news and he freezes, his stomach turning at the realization that he may lose the only person that could understand him, not as a scout but as himself.

will probably hurt more than his other half and the news weighs him down greatly, affecting his everyday tasks. he becomes very clingy and is worried that once he leaves their side, they’ll be gone from his reach.

not the best caretaker and doesn’t really know how to assist a sick person, so he calls his ma up for advice and tries his best to follow it, even if he makes a few stumbles here and there. you know he means well even if he nearly burns all the food he makes for you.

Soldier:

demands the medical center to do something about it and says it’s an order, his voice booming around the quiet area. when they apologize and inform him that nothing could be done, he nearly loses his shit and has to be held back before he decides to blow up the place.

tries to be strong for them, even if he’s godly worried but doesn’t show it. he highly believes they can make it through their sickness and tries to keep their spirit up no matter how low the day is; “this disease has got nothing on you, cupcake! you are the strongest fighter i know!” and when they smile, it motivates him to continue on.

Pyro:

they whimper cause they know something isn’t right. though they can’t quite put their finger on it, they do notice the change of behavior their s/o has as time passes. the way they drag their body, eat and sleep less, often too weak to move and it just worries them. they know something is wrong.

hugs and rainbows and everything bright makes everyone happy right? so they do just that. even if they can’t understand what they’re going through, they try to cheer them up with everything they have; stuffed animals, their favorite food, cuddles and even sets up little skits for them.

on their worse days, where they’re terribly ill and can’t build up the strength to do even the simplest of tasks, they just stay by their side, hugging them here and there to show that they’re not alone.

Demoman:

tavish is heart broken but he doesn’t show it to his s/o. the last thing they need to see is another crying face around them. instead, he asks how his s/o how they’re feeling and comforts them in their time of need despite the tears threatening to spill.

he mostly grieves in silence at first, not even alcohol being able to silence the pain that ached inside him. he cries to himself for a while until his s/o catches him one night, hunched over on the table while he let out soft sobs. they hug him from behind until he’s ready to talk and when he does, he feels much better. 

once he composes himself the day after, he tries to cut down on the alcohol to be sober enough to care for his s/o properly. he wants to be there for them completely in their time of need.

Heavy:

is deeply saddened for his s/o, not knowing the impact it had placed on their shoulders. he doesn’t say much but hugs them gently, caressing their back for comfort. “(y/n) will be okay. misha is here.”

he’s already a worry wart so upon learning this, he becomes even worse with his concerns and frets about his s/o often, commenting on every little thing. if they cough too loud or even vomit, he freaks out inwardly and does everything and anything he can to help them.

he often asks medic for advice on how to help them cope with their disease at the least and follows his tips to the bone. he also makes sure that his s/o doesn’t overwork themselves at all and tells them to rest often.

Medic:

he thinks that the doctor is just pulling shit out of their ass and probably just giving his s/o a scare. they’ve been acting and looking fine lately, so it’d be strange for them to have an incurable disease. he brushes it off his shoulders for the time being.

but then as he slowly observes them more, he does notice major changes that he hadn’t caught before. the way they moved, spoke, and even the way their beautiful smile weakened eventually caught up to him and he’s completely devastated, reality finally striking him.

stays up countless nights to find a cure, anything and everything that could at least prevent it from worsening. it’s true, he could always bring people back to life but it wasn’t always an assurity and he wasn’t sure if a disease was the same, so it worries him more. even if his s/o begs him to take a break, he just won’t. not when they’re in danger.

Sniper:

he gets angry at the doctor at first, spewing out questions that he knew the doctor couldnt answer himself; “wut do ya mean ya weasels can’t do a thing? isn’t that your job?” when his s/o drags him out of the medical center, he grows eerily quiet compared to the moments earlier and keeps his head down the rest of the way home.

when his s/o does confront him later that night, they cup both his scruffy cheeks in their hands and he leans into their touch unconciously. “i’m gonna be okay.” he stays quiet, staring at them with a sullen expression. “oi know.” he murmurs, “oim just- just afraid to lose ya.” and they shake their head and wrap their arms around his torso, “you won’t.”

afraid is just the beginning. he’s utterly mortified with the idea of losing them, often keeping him awake at night and sending him into nightmares. he’s lost so many people in his life and he knows the pain of it, but this was different. this pain is absolutely unbearable and he holds them tight as they sleep, silently begging that they don’t take away the one perfect thing he has going in his life.

Engineer:

he tries not to cry right in front of his s/o as they announce the news to the both of them, but his s/o knows he’s one second away from breaking down so they pull him out of there as soon as possible. he tearfully apologizes to them, blaming himself for not taking care of them more often and how he should’ve noticed. his s/o tries to reassure him it’s not his fault but it doesn’t really change his mind.

doesn’t deal with the idea of losing his s/o very well. he smiles less and worries more, stressing himself out but tries to maintain his positive attitude for the sake of keeping them happy during these times.

anything his s/o needs, he does without a complaint. no matter what time of the day or how busy he is, he will drop it just to attend to them. he takes it up a notch once he’s aware his s/o is sick and you best believe it’ll be done in a heartbeat once those words leave your mouth.

Spy:

he’s had a feeling for a while that his other half was sick, hence the reason why he forcefully decided to drag them to the hospital. when the news is confirmed, he thanks the doctors and quietly pulls them out of the building. he sees the teary eyes of his s/o and sighs deeply, embracing them in a tight hug, whispering sweet nothings to them.

is aware that their s/o’s mental health may decline due to the sudden shock and tries to lighten up their day often, buying them things they want or complimenting them whenever he sees them. he also starts conversations whenever they’re around. even goes as far as dancing with them in the middle of his quarters.

makes sure his s/o is relaxed as possible at the same time. he messages their back and wherever it hurts, holds them whenever they need it, and becomes a mother hen whenever they fall terribly ill. even if he’s outwardly fine, he’s honestly devastated but tries to keep his head on his shoulders, knowing that panicking will only worsen the situation.

he’s super flattered but doesn’t show the fact that he is, instead just telling his merc friend something snarky and silly. he’d bend down and pick up the animal with a smirk. “how does it feel to be named by da one and only?” inwardly, he’s so appreciative that you find him important enough to name a loved animal after him and returns the favor later by buying a drink or snack randomly whenever you need it or taking over a task you don’t wanna do.

has a huge soft spot for the kitten and all things cute, often gushing over it in privacy. when they leave the feline in his care, he plays around with the cat happily and tries to teach it tricks and stuff. (even though he’s absolutely horrible at it; will probably teach it how to attack on command or break a cup. count on scout to be the worst pet sitter.)

Soldier:

upon learning that the cat was named after him, he’d grin proudly and crouch down to pet it, loudly welcoming it to the family. “we have another brave soldier around here! welcome!”

would demand the other mercs to give it respect and honor them as if it were another merc around the base. shows off the fact that it’s named after him and milks it. he’ll friskily salute it everytime it passes by.

Pyro:

oh so very happy!! they love animals and cute things, so to find out you named an animal after them sent them over the moon!! they’re literally dripping with happiness and gives you a big hug in result!

forget about ever spending time with your cat. in fact forget that you’ve ever had one. pyro will literally hog it every second of the day and give it endless love no matter what. it’s easy to say the cat was just as attached to pyro.

Demoman:

is flattered and will show he is openly. he’ll hug his merc friend and let out a big grin with a laugh, thanking his friend loudly. will probably get emotional about it later, realizing the wholesomeness of the moment while drunk off his ass. probably one of the nicest things someone has done for him.

he’ll look down at the kitten, who scratched his boots playfully, with a drunk smile as he slurred; “look at ye’, ya wee lass! ain’t a day over four and yer already stirrin’ up trouble!” he’d crouch down and scratch behind their ear, “i like ye’, already!”

Heavy:

loves animals. the kitten is so small and cute, he’s almost afraid to hold it in fear that he’ll injure them. once his friend mentions theyre named after heavy, he is stunned for a second but lets out a hearty laugh, petting it softly. he thanks his friend for doing such a grand gesture. “we have another misha. is great.” he looks down at it with soft expression, “do not worry. misha will take care of you.”

and he does. he cares for the cat as if it were his own child or loved one. even if it’s his friends cat, he can’t help but look after it and offer to take most of the responsibilities. it’s so weird to see such a big guy be paired with such a fragile tiny kitten, but they go so well together. heavys also really warm, so the feline is naturally drawn to him.

Medic:

isnt fond of kittens or cats in generals, seeing that he has birds and all. he’d give the cat a dissatisfied expression at first as they held it up to present it but once they mention that they named them after him, he smiles awkwardly, unsure of what to do at first. he hesitantly pets it and looks at his merc friend who beams at him with happiness and he figures its worth a shot.

grows okay with the kitten being around the base, often greeting it everytime and starting conversations with them like he’s crazy (which he is). gives it occasional check ups to make sure it’s healthy but ensures that it doesn’t get too close to his birds. (gets surprised when he finds that they get along just fine.)

Sniper:

he’s baffled at first, looking at them with surprise expression, absolutely stunned at their confession. “did oi hear that right? ya named a cat after me?” once they nodded, he awkwardly glanced around, letting out a confused thank you, wondering why in the world their first thought is to name the kitten after him out of all people.

once he does spend time with the cat though, he understands why they would do such a thing (besides the fact that they love him). the cat is basically an undeniable representation of him; introverted, quiet, stealthy, and sharp eyed. he smiles and pets behind their ear as they pur, “suppose we ain’t so different.”

Engineer:

absolutely ecstatic and honored that they love him enough to name their new kitten after him. he grins happily when his merc friend casually explains why they named it after him and pats their shoulder energetically. “why, youre about to make me cry right about now.” when they laugh at his silliness, they notice that he isn’t laughing along. “i was serious, yknow.”

builds the kitten things to make it comfortable while living in the base. it’s own personal bed, feeding bowl, contraptions and toys he knows the animal will he entertained by. the list can go on and on, really.

Spy:

just like medic, he isn’t as fond with animals as many think. even if he’s named after the cat and is told why, he still doesn’t like the idea of an animal being around. don’t get me wrong, he’ll still feel surprised yet flattered and bewildered on why you chose to name the cat after him. awkwardly, he’ll thank you and show his appreciation while trying to figure out a way to at least tolerate the feline.

he refuses to touch the kitten and avoids it at all costs when he can, but much to his dismay, the cat is naturally attracted to him. eventually, he’ll confront it and give it the attention it’s been yearning for, though it’s awkward so he makes it quick and leaves. even if spy doesn’t openly admit his liking for the feline, his merc friend finds random gifts suddenly placed in their room; cat toys, cat treats, and much more.

i swear i got a whiplash reading all my requests and i got like 10 of these, thinking the requests just repeated when it really didn’t. every anon requested a different person, so i decided to do all of them in one post.

i swear it’s ooc as fuck but i’m still learning. :’)

Scout:

secretly, scout is hella touch starved and yearns affection even if he doesn’t admit it out loud. he always dreams about the day he could share that affection with someone he’s willing to spend his life with.

but of course, as flirtatious and confident as he is in public, his walls can be easily taken down with a simple touch from his s/o. if they were to kiss his cheek softly out of no where, he’d melt into a puddle and think about it the rest of the day, a smile plastered on his face.

he pretends like he gets embarrassed when his s/o shows affection in front of the other mercs, wanting to seem tough in their eyes but honestly just indulges in it, knowing he’s a lucky man to have this kind of opportunity.

despite that, he’s just as cuddly and affectionate as his s/o, often initiating it whenever they’re alone. he’s all mushy around them, often pinching their cheeks and holding them endlessly, and is literally like a child asking for attention.

Soldier:

doesn’t care what anyone else thinks and he doesn’t stop his s/o from doing it. in fact, he encourages his s/o to do it and “asks” them often; “give me a hug, cupcake! the best one you can!”

you know he’s about to show his s/o off to the other mercs, chest puffed out proudly as they hug his torso, following him. “don’t you maggots wish you had this?!” he’d say with the biggest grin ever.

uses it as a challenge sometimes. if his s/o gives him a kiss on the cheek or hugs him, he’ll return it back twice as hard. the look on their face always drives him to continue and makes him feel accomplished.

Pyro:

pyro is the most expressive one. they absolutely love it to bits and gives them just as much love and affection in return, maybe even more!

he lets out a comically happy sound whenever they initiate contact and gets clingy, not willing to let them go, no matter the circumstance. besides, it’s not like anyone would force them to let their s/o go.... we all know how that’s gonna turn out.

spends every minute of the day holding their hand happily, refusing to separate, and skipping as they walk. their other half tries to catch up with them but knows they’re just ecstatic to receive such attention. overall, just a happy and energetic person.

Demo:

doesn’t mind it one bit and loves it a lot actually. he’s not ashamed to show nor return affection and definitely loves the attention he gets from his s/o.

just as affectionate with his s/o and the fact that he’s always drunk only assists with that more. he becomes clingy and always has a hand on them too, whether it’d be one on their back or an arm around their waist.

most of him gives you attention because he absolutely loves you to pieces and knows you deserve nothing less but a small part of him does it because he refuses to see you be affectionate with someone else. he’s not very fond with sharing.

Heavy:

heavy is a big giant cuddly bear and he will more than likely satisfy his s/o’s needs without a reason from them. doesn’t mind holding them whenever they need it and also loves it when they do the same.

if someone tried bothering his s/o while they’re in their mood, cuddling him in peace as they sleep on his lap, he’d send them a displeased expression. “nyet. do not bother. it is cuddling time.” he won’t even bother listening to the other persons reason, shooing them away, “come back later.”

the best person to be affectionate to. he’s literally the warmest amongst all the mercenaries and also the best to cuddle, seeing that he’s very soft with his touches. all it takes is his s/o to ask him to do something and he will get to work right away.

Medic:

doesn’t mind it for the most part but prefers bigger pda moments to be done in private. he’ll outright ask his s/o for his comfort but try to seem as friendly as possible when doing so.

when they’re in private, they’re welcomed to show affection to him while he does his tasks and finds that it puts him in a much better mood. his favorite moments are the ones where his s/o hugs him from behind, laying their head on his back while he works on his tasks. 

while his s/o is affectionate and touch starved, he does sometimes need his space to think and focus. he’ll let his s/o know beforehand that he needs to finish a certain task and when he does get around to doing so, he places a soft kiss on their cheek and thanks them for their patience.

Sniper:

embarrassed by it at first. he’s not used to the whole relationship game and is absolutely not used to the newly found attention that’s been suddenly put into his life.

he tries to avoid it at all costs and doesn’t really know how to follow along whenever his s/o would initiate it. he stays paralyzed, unsure of what to do but give him a few weeks and he’ll somewhat warm up to it.

then he’ll find himself feeling less cranky everyday as he grows used to the affection, often expecting it whenever they’re around. he won’t show major affection, like full on making out with his s/o or kissing them deeply in front of other people but he will begin holding their hand or kissing their cheek constantly.

he only realizes how much of an impact it’s made in his life when he’s forced to spend the night alone in his camper due to his s/o being out to visit some people. sniper shifts uncomfortably, unable to sleep for the first time in a while and he lays there wide awake, wondering how the hell he used to live his life without their attention.

Engineer:

you know he can’t say no to you, even if he really tried to. he wouldn’t say no anyway, understanding that everyone needs affection here and there from time to time. also he thinks it’s absolutely adorable.

when his s/o stands on his doorway or looks at him with a certain expression, maybe even throwing in a small hand hold here and there, he’d look down at them with a blush and a smile. “that time of the day, honey bee?” and proceeds to entertain their needs, no matter how shy he is.

if he’s unable to be there for them during the times where they need him, he’ll substitute it with something that can do for the time being. for example, he’d make a plush for them to hold around or leave one of his shirts behind to replace him until then. he’ll be sure to give them a big kiss and hug when he makes it back to the base.

Spy:

will most definitely entertain their needs. he’s a sauve, romantic man and they don’t need to expect anything less of him as he will spoil them with affection.

sometimes the other mercs get fucking sick of seeing you two constantly being all cuddly and lovey dovey with each other openly to everyone’s eyes, but spy doesn’t mind one bit. if they were so bothered by it, they could look away.

can be as affectionate as they want him to be. his lover wants a hug? he’ll embrace them warmly while he caresses their hair. his s/o wants a kiss? count on spy to create the most unforgettable one ever to exist.

Scout:

baffled to the max. utterly speechless and when he does speak? it’s absolute gibberish. what is the english language, my guy? you have one brain cell and for what?

it takes a while for him to compose himself but when he does, he tries to keep his whole confident, snarky guy facade up while he addresses his s/o’s confession; “why wouldn’t ya love me, toots?” the blush gives it away, really, but you don’t point it out for the sake of his pride.

inwardly, hes fucking dying and a blushing mess, wanting nothing more but for his s/o to say those words again. when his s/o rolls their eyes playfully and shoots him a snarky response, he throws his arm over their shoulder with a smirk. “don’t get your undies in a bunch. i love ya too, toots.” oh you know hes about to brag about it the whole day... and probably gonna scream into his pillow while he’s at it.

Soldier:

grins for a creepy amount of time, leaving his s/o feeling awkward as they stand there, waiting for some kind of answer. no blush, no signs of reaction, no... nothing but a smile that stayed plastered on his face.

“jan- ah!” he would grab both sides of their face and pull them to him as he placed a breathtaking kiss on their lips. he’d pull away after a while, trying to catch his breath as his voice thundered loudly.

“how’s that for an i love you?!” he’d grin proudly as his s/o stared back at him with a dazed and flushed expression, unable to capture the words to respond. it’d honestly be a while until he received even a word from them and it just shows he’s done his mission well.

Pyro:

let’s face it, they’d probably react to the confession the quickest and reciprocate their words just as fast as it left their mouth.

pyro would immediately jump around in glee and envelope them into the biggest hug they could possibly give, speaking in words that they couldn’t quite understand. lots and lots of giggles as they literally squeeze the air out of their lungs.

once they released their s/o, they’d pull them away, a skip in their step as they went down the hall. his s/o would soon realize that pyro was taking them to a date and they’d laugh at their cuteness, following along with them.

Demo:

tavish would be the first to say those three words to his s/o, wanting to reassure them as much as possible that he does indeed love them. his s/o, however, is far too shy to ever say it back but he knows they mean well so it’s not a big issue.

but when his s/o does return those three special words one day, he grins like a madman and takes them into his arms, spinning them in the air. he lets out a laugh full of happiness, the most he’s ever allowed to escape in a long time.

when he puts them down, he’s still in disbelief. he’s gotten so used to him just saying it that the thought of them returning it back was nearly void. “ya love me, lass?!” and when they answered with a shy ‘yes’, he’s one second away from smothering them in a kiss.

Heavy:

his eyes go wide for a mere moment, processing the words that had just left their mouth. he turns to walk over to them and lets out a grin, placing his big hand on their head.

“heavy loves (y/n) very much.” he says with a bright expression, his voice filled with love and happiness. his s/o smiles brightly at him with a blush on their cheeks and he nearly melts at the sight.

they rush up to hug him tightly with a laugh and hes caught in surprise once more, his hands flying up. once his s/o mutters a soft, “thank you”, against his clothes, he closes his eyes in bliss and returns the hug, rubbing their back soothingly.

Medic:

he gets excited. not the whole jumpy, screaming and all up in your face excited, but enough to show it’s visible upon hearing those words. a big grin and joyful eyes is more than enough to really display that he appreciated their words.

somehow, he accidentally blurts out the same phrase but in his own language due to his excitement and doesn’t realize it until they raise a brow in confusion. “uhm, i kinda lost you there for a second.”

he would let out an awkward laugh at first with a small, ‘oh, right,’ and grabs both his s/o’s hands in his as he corrects himself. “tschuldigung! sometimes i get too excited for my own good,” he coughs but a smile automatically replaces it as he stares his s/o in the eyes, “i love you too, liebe.”

Engineer:

turns into a blushy mess, scratching the nape of his neck as his s/o says a simple i love you out of the blue. his flushed face supports the fact that he’s one second away from fainting.

“heh, ain’t that somethin’ to brighten a mans day,” he says, flustered to his core as he stares down at his s/o who smiled at him. dell takes their hand in his, lifting it up to his mouth as he presses a gentle kiss to their knuckles.

“i love ya too, honey bee,” he muttered against their skin, a smile forming on his lips as they blushed, “how’s about we celebrate with a little somethin’, huh? your choice.” they would nod timidly, taking his hand in theirs as they interlocked fingers with him.

Sniper:

sniper.exe has stopped working.

in all seriousness, hes initially an awkward guy when receiving any form of affection and love, not being used to such behavior. half of the time, he doesn’t know how to respond to these situations but somehow, this one feels different. it makes his heart beat in all different directions and he’s a mess.

he takes his hat off and places it on his s/o’s head, desperately trying to hide the cursed redness on his entire face. sniper keeps his hand there so they wouldn’t look up to see his expression. his voice would be shaky as he responded. “oi feel the same way.” even though he’s still awkward with saying the exact words, his s/o gets the message 100%.

Spy:

you best fucking believe this is about to be a romantic moment. spy is the epitome of romance and all that falls under it. he’ll drop whatever the fuck he’s doing the moment he hears his s/o say those words.

he’ll playfully milk it, honestly but won’t push it if his s/o gets bothered or uncomfortable. “i didn’t quite get that, would you mind repeating it for me once more?” those three words were like music to his ears.

whether his s/o did repeat it or not, he’d still approach them and place a hand on their waist while using the other to tilt their chin up. with a husky voice, he’d whisper to them softly before closing the distance; “je t'aime aussi, mon amour.”

Engineer [Dell]:

he’s a sweetheart by default and a gentleman for the most part. probably the sweetest and most open boyfriend amongst all the mercs.

although he’s a little shy, there will never a day his s/o will feel unloved or question whether dell loves them or not. he constantly reminds them verbally and physically and often without shyness and hesitation.. and if his s/o does somehow feel that way? he’ll make sure that his feelings are known and won’t allow anything to stop him from doing so.

compliments galore; he will tell you how attractive you are, how much you’ve changed his life, and so much more things that’ll make their heart swell. even if you feel like he’s said everything in the books, he’ll always find something new to compliment you on.

lots of nicknames and believe me when i say he doesn’t stick with just one; sugar, sweetheart, pumpkin, honey, and whatever cute nickname he could muster up. sometimes he tends to forget his s/o has a real name that isn’t their nickname.

for someone who gives a lot of love to his s/o and has the bravery to do so, he gets very flustered upon receiving it back. if they were to give him something as simple as a kiss on the cheek, he’d turn different shades of red with a big smile on his face. such a freaking dork.
