i know i and some other people have talked about this countless times before but i still cannot fully understand why rick riordan made an abuse victim character be hit over and over again by people who didn’t even KNOW him and turned it into a joke

There’s something about percy’s anger that makes me go crazy go stupid. It’s like…his anger is calm. It’s terrifying, honestly. It shows up without warning. Like obviously the instances of his anger are justified but it’s so weird to me because he’s not angry right before, and then it’s like a switch is flipped. Like when he was fighting akhlys…yeah he was in the middle of fighting and trying to think of a way to survive, but he wasn’t angry. He wasn’t angry until he saw the water and started putting pieces together and realized that he didn’t have anything left to lose, so why not at least try it. And then at the beginning of hoh when they run into arachne, he’s standing around talking to annabeth and then in a split second he had already killed arachne. Like quick enough that annabeth was like “wtf just happened” and also she says something like “Percy’s expression was grim and dissatisfied” and “the hard edge in percy’s voice made her unsettled” and all of that happened in like. A matter of 5 seconds.

Like idk if this makes sense but all i can think about is a hurricane and the whole “calm before the storm” thing. Or even how the eye of the hurricane is calm. Because like when percy’s angry he doesn’t really lash out…he’s not yelling, he’s not losing it, he’s standing calmly in the center of the destruction he’s causing…

It will never not be funny to me that Rum Tum Tugger’s song is basically “I care about nothing, I’m a sexy egotistical asshole and you all love it”

Then, two songs later: “I’m gonna sing lovingly about how respectable my dad is now.”

Then his next number? “Do you want to hear a seven minute song about how cool my boyfriend is? Because you are getting a seven minute song about how cool my boyfriend is.”

Tugger is a delightful character because he is both the raunchiest and the softest character in the show at the same time, end thought.

Some mystic twins hcs: Tantomile and Coricopat showed up in the junkyard alone as young kittens. It was late at night and freezing cold when they were found by Tica, who was patrolling. She immediately adopted the two kittens and brought them back to the warmth of the queens’ den/nursery. They were odd kittens, very quiet and slightly eerie, but always perfectly polite and well behaved. When Old Deuteronomy met them, he declared that they had magic. Not physical magic like Macavity, but more emotionally based - they were Mystical Cats, empaths (which explained why the two would often sit in complete silence but also seem to have had full conversations with each other), and later on each of them developed their own individual power.

Tanto gained a power over memory. When she touches an object, she can almost see into the past - she’ll see that object’s memory. Her den is filled with trinkets that used to be people’s treasures, such as a broken locket that was passed down three generations of a family - when she touches it she can see their faces, how happy they are, she can feel their love for each other. The more of an emotional attachment the object had (emotional charge, as she calls it), the stronger Tanto’s visions are. It works with most things, for example if she touches a plastic bottle, she will be able to see the face of the person who bought and drank it, but there would be no real emotion connected to it, and the image would be fuzzy. She can’t control getting these images/visions, but she can trigger them/tune them out.

She enjoys living in the junkyard because most of the things there have little to no emotional charge, but also occasionally she’ll sense something with a very strong emotional pull and she’ll vanish for a few hours until she finds the thing, which will usually appear in her den that night if she likes it/if it has many happy memories in it. She has tried a couple of times to access the memories of other Cats, which she can do, but it is incredibly difficult as those are living memories and are much more fluid and hard to pin down. It’s also very draining - if she does it she’ll then sleep for about 24 hours - so mostly she prefers to stick to her empath powers with other Cats.

Cori got the worse end of the stick. He gets visions of the future, but they really take a toll on him mentally and sometimes physically. In this way his magic is similar to Misto’s, but while Misto can control his, Cori can’t. The visions come on without warning and he can’t stop them or choose to have them. He’ll go into a sort of trance and completely freeze up, he’ll drop whatever he’s holding, and has occasionally fallen from perches. This can be dangerous if he’s outside the junkyard and near a road or something, so he rarely ventures out alone. He’ll be mentally completely taken out of wherever he is, and thrust into the vision; his eyes roll back and although his body stays where it is, his mind is far away. This is quite stressful and often leaves him quite shaken and when he comes back around.

Tanto is much less patient than Cori, and is often found in the company of calmer Cats such as Demeter and Cassandra. Electra also really looks up to her and tries to be like her.

Cori, on the other hand, is more likely to be found with Mungojerrie, who is absolutely enamoured with him. Jerrie thinks Cori is the absolute coolest thing since sliced bread, and Cori has grown quite fond of the ball of sunshine energy hanging off of him. Tanto doesn’t get it at all, and was initially mistrustful of Jerrie due to his and Teazer’s past with Macavity. She’s come round to tolerating him in her presence and respecting their relationship however, due to how well Jerrie treats Cori and how well he looks after him.

The first time Cori had a vision around Jerrie, they were on a walk alone together, and Jerrie wasn’t even aware that Cori got visions. Despite being scared out of his wits when it began, Jerrie’s nonsense mode immediately evaporated and he went into serious business mode. He hoisted Cori onto his back and full on sprinted back to the junkyard, to Tanto (I hc Jerrie as a former Macavity henchcat, so basically, strong af). He held in all his emotions until later, when Cori had come back around and then passed out curled up in a ball in his blankets, and just sat near him shaking. Tanto was surprised at the massive shift from Jerrie’s general happy-go-lucky head-empty silly vibes to this serious, deeply emotional side which was radiating concern, fear, and upset. Jerrie didn’t leave Cori’s side for days and fussed over him to a ridiculous level, bringing him food, fluffing his pillows, stealing him more blankets, etc. Tanto got to see that Jerrie was actually much calmer when it was just him and Cori, and despite being a chatterbox, always listened when he spoke. Cori perhaps let him fuss a bit longer than he had to (he just really likes Jerrie hugs!)

Once Cori was fully back on his feet, Jerrie went back to his usual mischievous self, but Tanto can always feel that deep affection when she sees them together. (Although if she sometimes sends him off on wild goose chases after things “Cori would just love” just to get some peace and quiet, then that’s her business and nobody else’s.)
