"The sun is setting The mountains are turning black The bird is quiet The field becomes silent" Taras Shevchenko I painted the picture without knowing the title, but my friend, who is studying art at the university, told me the title. The title is a quote from a poem by my countryman, the great Ukrainian Taras Shevchenko, who was an artist and poet. I think she was very good at finding parallels and the right associations, and I am grateful to her for that. In fact, I rarely come up with cool names myself, most of them are intentional or accidental, suggested by my friends.

Я намалював картину, не знаючи назви, але моя подруга, який навчається в університеті на художника, підказав мені назву. Назва - це цитата з вірша мого земляка, великого українця Тараса Шевченка, який був художником і поетом. Мені здається, вона дуже добре вміє знаходити паралелі та правильні асоціації, і я їй за це вдячний. Насправді, я рідко сам придумую класні назви, більшість з них - навмисні або випадкові, підказані друзями.

Додам трохи осіннього настрою. Щоправда, цього року осінь більше схожа на літо, і таких пейзажів у нас поки що немає. Але мені хотілося чогось подібного до цієї осені, і я зміг перенести це на папір зі своєї підсвідомості, використовуючи свої спогади про осінній стан. Я використовував туш і плакатне перо. На завершення роботи формату А3 мені знадобилося лише 30 хвилин.

I'll add a little autumn mood. True, this year autumn is more like summer, and we don't have such landscapes yet. But I wanted something similar to this autumn, and I was able to transfer it to paper from my subconscious, using my memories of the autumn state. I used ink and a poster pen. It took me only 30 minutes to complete the A3 work.

Ця моя робота несе в собі чарівність віку, втілюючи народження певного стилю та набору керівних принципів. Вона також слугує повторюваною темою, яку я досліджую час від часу, розвиваючи її нюанси в різних дискусіях. Як я вже згадував раніше, і це однаково стосується і цього випадку, ця робота була продуктом чистої імпровізації.

Тепер давайте заглибимося в принципи, які лежать в її основі. Виконана в скромному масштабі тушшю і пером, керуючись спритністю моєї правої руки, ця робота дотримується фундаментальних рамок. Саме цю основу я використовую в так званому "чистому вигляді", оскільки інструмент вже має власну пластику і логіку використання. Наприклад, перо легко промальовує плавні, динамічні лінії, особливо коли рухається зверху вниз. Ця адаптивність поширюється на створення делікатних крапок і заповнення невеликих площин - природна синергія, яку породжує інструмент.

Чорнило саме по собі привносить характерні риси, в той час як моя натренована рука виконує специфічні рухи. Наприклад, малювання безтурботних і плавних ліній вимагає спокійного стану душі. Таким чином, мазок руки стає сплавом технічної майстерності та емоційного резонансу.

Дозвольте мені зупинитися на кожному з цих аспектів окремо. Вправна рука означає ступінь вашого володіння рукою та інструментом, втілення ваших намірів у витончені рухи. Коли ваша майстерність дозріє, ви побачите, що будь-яка лінія, яку ви проводите, тече гармонійно - результат, досягнутий завдяки цілеспрямованій практиці. Одночасно ваше серце задає ритм руці, що є проявом вашого темпераменту. По суті, лінії, втілені на по��отні, відображають ритм вашого серцебиття. Звучить досить просто, але дозволяє залишатися в рамках стилю. І створює внутрішню логіку, іншими словами, формулу творення. Проте не слід плутати стилістичні рамки з творчою в'язницею, вони радше нагадують правила гри, що додають інтриги до процесу. Переходячи від одного твору до іншого, від одного наративу до іншого, я стикаюся з викликами, які спочатку можуть здатися нездоланними у встановлених межах. Однак саме в цих обмеженнях моя творча майстерність по-справжньому сяє. Сфера графічного мистецтва пропонує широкий простір ��ля інновацій та досліджень, запрошуючи мене до експериментів, водночас гарантуючи, що мій задум буде доступним для глядача. Але головне тут - не перестаратися.

З плином часу моя палітра графічних технік продовжує розширюватися, ще більше збагачуючи мій художній репертуар. Привабливість поєднання різних матеріалів в одному творі незаперечна, але це зусилля вимагає підвищеного досвіду та майстерності. Досягнення балансу між експериментами та цілісністю залишається захоплюючим заняттям, яке спонукає мене до постійного вдосконалення мого ремесла.

Роздумуючи над еволюцією цієї роботи, я вважаю доречним відзначити якість композиції. Створена на молодших курсах коледжу, це був час, коли я вчився розуміти суть ритму та просторового балансу. Ця робота є свідченням мого зростаючого розуміння цих художніх елементів.

Ця робота втілює народження стилю та принципів. Вона розповідає про спонтанність та внутрішню гармонію мого руху, передаючи ритм мого серця на полотні. Цей твір — втілення моєї художньої еволюції, викликаючи мене до постійного вдосконалення та відкриття нових можливостей.

This work of mine carries with it the charm of age, embodying the birth of a particular style and a set of guiding principles. It also serves as a recurring theme that I explore from time to time, elaborating on its nuances in various discussions. As previously mentioned, and equally applicable here, this piece was a product of pure improvisation.

Now, let's delve into the principles that underpin it. Executed on a modest scale using ink and pen, guided by the dexterity of my right hand, this work adheres to a fundamental framework.  This is the base and I use it in a so-called "pure form" because the tool already has its own plasticity and logic of use.   For instance, the pen effortlessly traces smooth, dynamic lines, particularly when flowing from top to bottom. This adaptability extends to creating delicate dots and filling in small planes, a natural synergy that the tool engenders.

Ink, in its own right, introduces distinctive traits, while my practiced hand executes a specific motion. Drawing serene and fluid lines, for instance, requires a tranquil state of mind. Hence, the stroke of your hand becomes a fusion of both technical proficiency and emotional resonance.

Let me focus on each of these aspects separately. A skilful hand refers to the degree of control you have over your hand and your instrument, translating your intentions into graceful movements. As your skill matures, you will find that any line you draw flows harmoniously - a result achieved through focused practice. At the same time, your heart sets the rhythm for your hand, which is a manifestation of your temperament. In fact, the lines embodied on the canvas reflect the rhythm of your heartbeat. It sounds quite simple, but it allows us to stay within the style. And it creates an internal logic, in other words, a formula for creation.

Yet, the confines of a stylistic framework should not be mistaken for a creative prison; rather, they resemble the rules of a game, adding intrigue to the process. As I journey from one creation to another, from one narrative to the next, I encounter challenges that may initially seem insurmountable within the established boundaries. However, it is within these constraints that my creative prowess truly shines. The field of graphic arts offers a wide scope for innovation and research, inviting me to experiment while ensuring that my ideas are accessible to the viewer. But the main thing here is not to overdo it.

As time unfolds, my palette of graphic techniques continues to expand, further enriching my artistic repertoire. The allure of blending various materials into a single work is undeniable, but it's an endeavor demanding heightened expertise and skill. Striking the balance between experimentation and cohesion remains an exhilarating pursuit, driving me to continually refine my craft.

Reflecting upon the evolution of this artwork, I find it fitting to commend the composition's quality. Created during my junior years in college, it was a time when I was learning to grasp the essence of rhythm and spatial balance. This piece stands as a testament to my growing understanding of these artistic elements.

The name "PROPAGANDA" A3 format, paper, ink, brush, pen.

Я почав працювати над цим твором у жовтні 2022 року, через півроку після повномасштабного вторгнення. У той час мій інформаційний простір був переповнений новинами про війну. Я стикався з пропагандою, навіть з боку ворога, і це було просто жахливо. Наповнена брехнею і ненавистю, я не можу зрозуміти, як люди в тій країні могли її слухати, тому що в той момент, коли я почав її чути, я відчув, як вона забруднює мою душу.

Дозвольте мені розповісти вам, як я підходжу до більшості своїх робіт. Я беру чистий аркуш паперу і починаю малювати випадкові лінії або плями з випадкового місця, а потім гармонійно поєдную їх у цілісну композицію. Іноді цим роботам бракує конкретних образів чи сюжетів, і все ж, часом, вони перетворюються на інтригуючі шедеври. Але для цього мені потрібно чимось надихатися. У той час мене надихали емоції, про які я згадував раніше. Але цього було недостатньо. Щоб створити графічний твір, який я відчував, я заглиблювався у свою підсвідомість, спрямовуючи накопичені емоції на папір через руку. Це не так просто, як здається. Я намагалася зосередитися на своїх відчуттях під час малювання, час від часу роблячи невеликі перерви в процесі.

Але я вважаю її закінченою приблизно у квітні 2023 року, коли я був змушений дати назву великій кількості своїх творінь. Раніше я дотримувався концепції залишати свої роботи без назв, дозволяючи глядачам інтерпретувати їх на власний розсуд. Однак, коли деякі з моїх робіт були відібрані для виставки кафедри дизайну Черкаського державного бізнес-коледжу, в якій я з гордістю беру участь, я переоцінив свій підхід. Влучна назва надавала роботі відчуття завершеності, допомагаючи глядачам зрозуміти основну ідею, яку я переживав під час їх створення. I began working on this piece in October 2022, six months after the full-scale invasion. During that time, my information space was inundated with news of the war. I encountered propaganda, even from the enemy side, and it was simply horrifying. Filled with lies and hatred, I can't fathom how people in that country could listen to it, for the moment I started hearing it, I felt it polluting my soul.

Let me recount how I approach most of my works. I take a blank sheet of paper and start drawing random lines or spots from a random place, then harmoniously merge them into a coherent composition. Sometimes these works lack specific images or plots, and yet, at times, they turn into intriguing masterpieces. But to achieve that, I need to be inspired by something. During that time, I was inspired by those emotions I described earlier. Yet, that alone wasn't enough. To create a graphic work that felt like a protector, I delved into my subconscious, channeling accumulated emotions onto paper through my hand. It's not as simple as it seems. I endeavored to concentrate on my feelings while drawing, occasionally taking short breaks from the process.

By April 2023, I considered the artwork complete, as I was compelled to give names to a significant number of my creations. I had previously adhered to the concept of leaving my works untitled, allowing viewers to interpret them as they wished. However, when some of my works were selected for an exhibition by the Design Department of Cherkasy State Business College, in which I proudly participate, I reevaluated my approach. Apt titles seemed to bring a sense of completeness to the works, helping viewers grasp the underlying idea I experienced during their creation. When a work lacked a name, people often remarked on its enigmatic and eerie nature, while I sensed that the piece, though seemingly straightforward, still carried an unsettling quality. Минув Всесвітній день шахів. Я сам дуже люблю і поважаю цю гру. У мене багато спогадів з дитинства, коли я навчився грати у свого дідуся, а потім приніс цю розвагу до свого класу в школі. Як зараз пам'ятаю, ми всі грали не дуже добре, але всім було цікаво і весело. Потім я надовго закинув це хобі і повернувся до нього, коли почався глобальний карантин. Саме тоді я відкрив для себе шахи онлайн. Таким чином, тема шахів вплинула на мою творчість і час від часу з'являється в різних роботах, але є й роботи, які повністю присвячені цій грі або її аспектам.

Роки вивчення цієї гри мали захоплюючий вплив на мій спосіб мислення і допомогли мені дізнатися більше про себе. Коли ти проходиш через багато захоплюючих ситуацій у грі, іноді дивуєшся своїм власним рішенням у грі, і це робить тебе захопленим не лише самою грою, а й твоїм суперником та твоїми власними діями. І, нарешті, як можна не малювати шахи, коли вони так приваблюють своєю естетикою?

World Chess Day has recently passed. I hold a deep affection and respect for this game. Countless memories from my childhood flood back when I first learned to play from my grandfather and later introduced this pastime to my classmates at school. I vividly recall that we weren't all skilled players, but the enthusiasm and enjoyment we experienced were unmatched. Subsequently, I put this hobby on hold for an extended period, only to return to it during the global quarantine, where I stumbled upon online chess. Consequently, the theme of chess has left an indelible mark on my creativity, frequently surfacing in various works, while some are wholly devoted to the game or its aspects.

The years spent mastering this game have had an intriguing influence on my thought processes, helping me discover more about myself. As you navigate through a myriad of intriguing scenarios in the game, you sometimes surprise yourself with the decisions you make, making you captivated not only by the chess itself but also by your opponent and your own actions. And, finally, how could one resist portraying chess when it exudes such aesthetic allure?

Знову вертаємося до пленеру.

Черкаси - місто, розташоване на правому березі Дніпра. Кременчуцьке водосховище є абсолютно величезним, воно простягається навколо мого міста приблизно на 15 км в ширину. Тому не дивно, що в цьому місті багато завзятих рибалок. Це заняття надзвичайно популярне серед місцевих жителів цілий рік, і майже кожного дня ви побачите когось, хто стоїть на пірсі або на пляжі, намагаючись щось зловити або просто розслабляючись, дивлячись на безтурботні води. Я сам неабияк захоплююся цим заняттям, тому мені принесло величезну радість закарбувати моїх колег на картині.

Cherkasy is a city situated on the right bank of the Dnipro River. The Kremenchuk reservoir is absolutely massive, stretching around my city for approximately 15 km in width. Hence, it's no surprise that there's an abundance of avid anglers in this town. This pastime is tremendously popular among the locals all year round, and nearly every day, you'll find someone standing by the pier or on the beach, trying to catch something or simply unwinding, gazing upon the serene waters. I myself hold a keen interest in this activity, which is why it brought me immense joy to capture my colleagues in a painting.
