Hey everyone--

These past few weeks, Admin Eden has dealt with the loss of a close family member. This turn of events has led her to being unable to run and participate in this roleplay.

Both Madi and Eden have put their souls into this roleplay and have been so blessed with such amazing and dedicated players. It’s with a heavy heart we are closing this roleplay. We may reopen in the future, but given the family tragedy, Admin Eden is really struggling to balance the internet world with her family world.

Players are more than welcome to continue writing on the dash, but the main is closed. We will not be accepting new apps nor doing activity checks. Thank you again for an amazing ride, hopefully we can all write again together soon.

Hi there, Anon!  Admittedly, we are going through a slump right now.  My co-admin has some personal stuff going on in her life, so we’ve been giving players a little slack.  Once she and I are able to have a conversation we should be getting things fully back on the right track.  That said, if you’re willing to be patient while we figure this stuff out feel free to send in an application!  We have some very dedicated players who we really appreciate for sticking with us through this time.

“THE DRIFTER”

Growing up without a mother, Elizabeth expected life to be hard. However, with the unconditional love her father gave her and her brother Elijah—- she never felt like her family was “broken”. Her mother left when Elizabeth was only 5 years old, causing her to grow up quicker than a child should. Elijah, who was 8 at the time was completely shattered over her leaving and often caused chaos anywhere he went whether it was at school or at home or even hanging out with his friends in a public area. Elizabeth was the complete opposite. She felt numb and she was hurting but she knew her father and Elijah were hurting more and because of this she made sure to be strong for them and never allowed herself to feel the betrayal instead she buried her head into a book escaping reality and slipping into another world.

Shadow Falls has been Elizabeth’s home her entire life. She has kept up with so many secrets, deception, and lies this town has endured through out her adolescence. Her father, who has worked with politics before she was even born, hates the supernatural and wants to rule them out badly. On the surface Elizabeth agrees to everything her father says pretending to share the hatred of supernatural species just as much as her father’s however, deep down she feels the complete opposite. Although, she has never personally encountered a kind of supernatural species (she would know if she ever has because of her descriptive knowledge from her readings) she believes they mean no harm and want to live in peace just like any creature on Earth would. These thoughts are only just thoughts, she knows to never say these aloud to her father or Elijah because it would divide their family and that is something she cannot bear. The supernatural species are enemies to her father and anyone who support them automatically become the enemy. Elizabeth knows where her loyalty lies, it is with her family. It always will be.

After graduating with her Masters in Library Science, Elizabeth moved out of her father’s house and into her own place. She works in the town’s library and absolutely loves her job. Her mind is a book of it’s own. She knows almost all the facts there is to know and if she is not working she is busy reading learning about things she does not already know.

Growing up with an overly protective father and brother it was hard for Elizabeth to truly experience independence and freedom. Her new chapter in Shadow Falls is only the beginning and she has never felt any freer than she does now. Despite not knowing what is to come during this new chapter Elizabeth has her brave face on and is more than excited to experience the actual world rather than hiding behind her books. 

-BEHIND THE CURTAIN-

Once she loosens up around someone her silliness is quite visible. It is hard for her to trust and if she shows you any sort of trust she will be open as a book and loyal till the end. The one thing people can say about Elizabeth is that she is a ride or die–loyal till the end kind of girl. 

Her quietness is often mistaken as judgement being made this is completely false. Elizabeth is often found quiet because she is observing. Especially with everything that is going on in the small town of Shadow Falls, she watches and learns as she knows there is more than just humans, cats, and dogs that roam the Earth. Her strongest personality traits would include being brave, courageous, and loyal.

Though she has great sides of her, Elizabeth can be extremely stubborn and easily irritable. Her patience runs out quick and once she is done tolerating as much as she can what comes out of her mouth will not be oh so kind. This rarely happens and probably has happened to a handful of people especially her annoying, protective, older brother Elijah.

     Edgewood was founded over 300 years ago as a sanctuary for the supernatural community. Through cooperation and magic never seen before, the world’s most powerful protection spell was cast on the settlement. Drawing its power from ley lines beneath the settlement, the Veil protected the town from evils it knew of, and evils it didn’t. But as Edgewood grew, so too did the Veil, and the amount of magic it drew from the ley lines. It was too much, and in 1919, the Veil was restructured. 

     Today, evil walks the earth in ways the original founders never could’ve imagined, and the worst is yet to come. The ley lines continue to heal, but Veil is needed now more than ever to protect those unable to defend themselves against the oncoming storm.

It’s that time of the month again for the Full Moon! Starting now until Sunday, March 24th at Midnight EST you can create starters in the starter tag or make private threads related to the special features that come with the full moon. You do not have to participate in the Full Moon starter prompt if you don’t want to, but the Full Moon is a way for any character in the rp to create a fun new starter (especially for the species that have different powers or abilities during the full moon) and we’ll detail how below. Basically, this starter prompt is just a reminder of when the full moon is and is an aid to help you hopefully get starter ideas. Please feel free to continue your ongoing threads and reply to existing starters. Even after the #shadowfullmoon starter thread deadline ends, you can still continue your character’s conversations. Just please don’t create any new full moon threads or starters until the next full moon. Also, if you have any questions about this recurring prompt feel free to shoot us a message.

*Note: During a full moon, if you want to INJURE your character, KILL an NPC (human or Supernatural),  TURN your character or any other MAJOR plot related occurrence, YOU NEED TO MESSAGE THE MAIN FIRST TO ASK FOR APPROVAL. (You will most likely have your plot approved, but we just need to keep track of which major plots are happening on the dash. That, and we will be posting a recap after the full moon, detailing the major plots that occurred like two characters fighting or a NPC human dying etc. So, we need to know for that reason as well).

So what can you write a starter about for your characters?

In town, people often refer to the full moon as “The Changing”:

During a full moon, there is a town curfew. After 10 pm on a full moon, all humans are expected to stay inside for their own safety. Anyone under the age of 21 is required by law to stay inside, while everyone older than 21 is highly encouraged to. Often organizations will host lock ins at local pubs or churches. Go out at your own risk.

During full moons, for all supernaturals, use of powers after curfew is fair game. As long as no humans are physically killed during the “Changing”, everything else that occurs on the streets (not in sanctioned buildings and houses) is fair game with no punishment by law (including, but no limited to other forms of violence on either side- human and supernatural alike).

For our hunters, now is your chance to hunt throughout town without any consequences by the law.

For our werewolves, your character will be shifting. You don’t have to write a shifting starter if you don’t want to. But, if you want to have your character be forced to turn and be set lose on the town, now is your chance to!

For our witches, now is your chance to create starters and threads with those extra full moon abilities that you gain.

For our vampires & succubus/incubus, your character can have an intense desire to feed during the full moon and an urge to quench their thirst with the others around them.

For our Harpies/Sirens, your characters can have an intense desire to sing. Also, for newer harpies and sirens, they’ll sometimes have difficulty hiding their true form. You’ll often see sirens take to the water and harpies flock to the sky.

While most shops and stores are closed on the full moon:

The Hellmouth will be open for supernaturals to eat at and, abiding to the curfew, won’t allow humans in for the duration of the night. There will also be a strict “no harming others” policy while inside the establishment.

All Saint’s Hospital will stay up and running. If you work at the Hospital, you will most likely be having a shift sometime during the night.

Procaffination Cafe will be having a lock in Movie Night where they play re-runs of all the classics.

Flannigan’s will be having a Scottish pub style lock-in. There will be music from a live band for part of the night and people can gather around and drink with the pub owner until the sun comes up.

The Muttropawlitan stays open to help heal hurt werewolves who wander in and in the basement they have an area where werewolves can be locked up during the shift, so that they don’t run lose around town and hurt someone.

Dusk Till Dawn Inn will, also, stay open with their basement working as an area where werewolves can be locked up during the shift, so that they don’t run lose around town and hurt someone. Additionally, they will have discounted rooms for anyone needed a place to escape to during the full moon.

The House of Grace has a lock in where humans can gather around reading hymns, singing psalms and playing an assortment of boardgames. The church pews will be replaced by cots and, there will, also, be a large selection of food provided such as an array of baked goods and pastries from the Pie Hole and Little Debbies snack cakes.

Both speakeasy-style clubs, Neverland and Saints & Sinners, take to the streets. Humans who are 21+ party outside, experimenting with drinking, drugs and other narcotics out in the open, while supernaturals parade through the streets doing the same. Free booze is often provided.

Supernaturals lounge freely on Radley’s front and backyards participating in pack meetings and other events.

The Falls are a magical hotspot, so during the full moon, if you character takes a swim, if they’re supernatural, they might find themselves getting a boost a power and, if they’re human, they might find themselves acting a bit tipsy.

Not all of the Departed were Christians and not all of them were good people. Murderers, neighbors, clergy, world leaders, cowards — all gone in an instant.

What kind of Rapture was indiscriminate?

People are aching to recover from the tragedy of The Sudden Departure, but The Guilty Remnant is doing everything in their power to keep people from forgetting. The world is different now, there’s no going back to normality.

THE CHOSEN RP is a skeleton, character-driven roleplay that is based in the universe of Tom Perrota’s and HBO’s The Leftovers (with some time alterations).

No previous knowledge of the series is needed, as the plot is very straight forward. We aim to be very diverse, LGBTQ+ friendly and hope to expand character development as much as possible. All characters and players must be over the age of eighteen.

“THE DRIFTER”

As far as Ava knows, she sprang to life on the screen. As far as her admirers know, that was where she perished too. Icon of the Golden Age of Hollywood, they say worshipfully, immortalized, forever young.

The dears don’t know the irony of that statement.

Born in 1925 to the beloved silent film actors Henry and Florence Strange, it was no surprise that she entered the public eye early. From a young age, she was groomed very carefully into a perfect little lady, fit for the glamorous shoes she was expected to fill. She doesn’t recall any of her first roles, but all of her memories have been permeated by the feeling of a very conditional love. The older she got, the stricter others were with her. She was always well put together, always proper, so that no one could snap an ugly picture of her or talk of scandal. Ava was a character after all, not a person.

Still, she didn’t resent the acting part of it. Feeling permanently unchallenged, it was something she craved, this mental stimulation. She devoured the scripts like they were sherbet.

It almost didn’t matter that her entire life was fake, down to the marriage. With 22, she turned from Ava Strange into Ava Scarbrough, bride of Harry Scarbrough, another actor, whom she had been chosen for carefully. Their wedding was a heavily publicized and beautiful event, even if it was all make-pretend and she barely knew the man.

The idea of being married to someone she barely knew, all for publicity she didn’t need, gave her the very first desire for rebellion, a gut-wrenching feeling of wrongness. In the end she didn’t act on it.

Like a medieval king and queen in a political marriage, they had one son together and considered their duty fulfilled. After that, it was like a weight was lifted from them. They never loved each other, but settled into an easy friendship instead, fostered even more by their shared adoration of their son, Roy. Having both had to act since they had been children, they were very adamant about not letting him suffer the same fate. If he wanted to act, it would be by his choice.

Ava remembers everything about the day her contentedness had come to an end. The taste of the winter air. The feeling of the ball gown under her coat. The burning pain, like she was a leaf being eaten up by fire. The way the snow melted in her clothes and hair. She met this strange man’s red eyes and thought him to be Death. It happened so fast that she wasn’t able to consider why this was happening, but she knew that she was dying. Her eyes felt hot, stinging with tears, her broken heart more painful than the injury. “I promised him,” she panted, lying there on the ground while he was watching her. “I promised Roy a train set for Christmas.” His eyes shifted then, but she barely caught a glimpse of them before her own lids closed. There was rustling, then a wet palm was placed on her lips and she got a taste of copper. Then, darkness.

Although she hadn’t thought him to be a vampire initially, she knew what she was as soon as she woke up. Heaven wouldn’t feel like this.

Her attacker’s name was Aaron. Apparently, he had been charmed by her portrayal of Mina in a production of Dracula and been tempted by the idea of turning her because of that. “It was a pain to get you alone,” he told her, “But it was worth it, for both of us. You might not be able to see your son anymore, but at least you won’t grow old and ugly, right?”

Before that point in time, Ava had never hated anyone in her life.

He didn’t allow her to go out; her face was too recognizable and the world still mourned her. At some point, her restlessness and hostility grew tiresome to him, so he sat her down in his extensive library. “Learn,” he said, pressing a book into her hands. “Think of it like a script.”

It wasn’t like scripts, like sherbet, but it was still something. She devoured the books, studying everything she could touch, all to distract herself from her son, her life. Over time, she gained an appreciation for the subjects she was learning about. Unlike her roles, they were completely real. Being a vampire, she would never be able to appreciate sherbet again anyway.

Eventually, Ava’s patience was spent and so she left with a scuffle and poisoned words. Her ‘death’ had been 20 years in the past and no one would mistake her for herself anymore. She was done being Mina.

A few years were spent traveling, then she applied to colleges with forged papers. Ava was eager to learn about this real world that she had never seen before. In the beginning, she was quite inept at common tasks, such as buying groceries, something she had never had to do before, but she learned. She always learned.

At the end of the century, Ava finally caved and looked up her family. Apparently, Roy had moved to Shadow Falls, but she never got to meet him again. The only thing she found was his grave — he had died of a sickness years ago. Still, her grandchildren, after much shock, had been all too happy to accept her. Even as a dreaded vampire.

Following the desire to learn more and share her knowledge, Ava took on a role as a professor and then as a Headmistress. It’s certainly not as glamorous as being an actress, but it’s better.

Chocolate fudge, not sherbet.    

-BEHIND THE CURTAIN-

Ava likes to make sure others only see her best side, portraying herself as fearless and reliable. To make others more comfortable in her presence and less intimidated by her elegance, she uses humor. She doesn’t tolerate bigotry and is quick to reprimand it. On campus she is known to be wry, but also helpful and kind. Students often approach her, as opposed to other faculty members, if they have a problem with a professor.

Of course, Ava isn’t without faults; on the rare occasion that she does a blunder, she is easily and extremely flustered. She takes pride in her intelligence and quest for knowledge, but her passion often leaves her distracted in the face of more important matters. She still mourns deeply for her son, feeling guilty for her own turning. Loneliness is a big issue for her and so she does her best to have a good relation with as many people as possible. A lot of Supernaturals and humans in Shadow Falls know her personally because of this.

would a human pastor be accepted? does everyone in town know about supernatural stuff?

Yes!  We would allow a human pastor.  We already have one, Silas Bahar, but we’d be totally happy to have another one!

As for if everyone in town knows about the supernatural stuff, that would be yes.  The existence of supernaturals is fairly common knowledge, though how much detail your character knows about individual species is up to you.  The only way they could completely be in the dark is if they had been living an extremely sheltered life away from the rest of society up until their arrival in Shadow Falls.  However, once they arrived they’d probably find out fairly quickly.
