Time for some Fun Facts!!!

(These are just general, I’m currently delaying the adults’ incorrect quotes because I need to create characters for some of them still oops)

Out of her non-native elements, Rea struggles the most with firebending, but the element that takes her the longest to learn is actually earthbending. Similarly to Kyoshi, she took longer to learn her native element. Her mom taught her earthbending ever since she was a kid, but it took a while for her to get good at it.

Sun-hi’s name was originally Jingfei

In the earliest drafts of the story, Rea and Mayumi’s personalities were basically swapped.

Book 2 contains a LOT of She-Ra parallels

The only reason I made Korra live so long was so that I didn’t have to include any LOK characters in my story, I had already created so many characters (major and minor) that took their places as bending teachers and such, and I thought that it would be an interesting obstacle for Rea to overcome (having to learn about Korra’s life through research rather than family and friends’ stories)

There is a secret branch of the White Lotus, which currently has 4 members. However, this branch is later replaced with an entirely different group, this time made up of 5 people.

The Dai Li have changed their purpose and uniforms now. The traditional wear became too much a telltale sign of them, so they went for more incognito ways to identifying agents in public and on missions— small things, like jewelry made from the crystals in the caves, or black coats with buttons shaped like the Earth Kingdom’s old money (from Aang’s time).

The Red Lotus attempted to make a comeback after many years of silence and hiding, about a year before Avatar Korra’s death. The new crew ultimately failed, but this did weaken Korra in her old age.

One time, Bolin forced Korra, Mako, Asami, Ikki, and more people to star in a mover with him (Titled “Attack of the Melonlord”). It was meant to be a more comedic view of Avatar Aang’s journey, like the Ember Island play. They only agreed because Varrick paid well.

Ginger (the girl Bolin acted with) and Tahno (the arrogant waterbending pro-bender) actually ended up getting married. Why? No other reason than the fact that this pairing should not exist. Quite the match made in hell.

Eska’s eyeliner style becomes very popular over time, especially during the popular phase of the punk band “Metalbender” (led by Huan Beifong).

About 10 years after LOK’s ending, Jinora and Tenzin journey to the Si Wong desert, where they explore the ruins of Wan Shi Tong’s spirit library (with some help from a few sandbenders). They recover lost of ancient documents, about anything from the building of the Nations to past Avatars.

One of Rea’s Team Avatar members invents a new form of bending in Book 2!

The last person to see Avatar Korra before her death was her great-great-great granddaughter, Imala Sato.

Happy Father’s Day!!!

To celebrate, here’s some info about the only good dads in the story and their family dynamic— Tarkik’s dads, Tiguaak and Aput.

As you may or may not know, Tarkik is Team Avatar’s waterbender and healer! He’s the Prince of the Northern Water Tribe, so along with information about their family, you’ll get some updates on water tribe culture.

Their family consists of Tiguaak, Aput, Tarkik, and Dyani. The parents are Tiguaak and Aput, and their children are Tarkik and Dyani.

Tiguaak means “the adopted child” in Inuit. He was adopted by the previous tribal leaders (Chief Arnaq and her husband Panuk) as a kid, and so he decided to adopt two kids when he grew up.

There will be a sub-plot in Book 4 where Tarkik, Dyani, and a friend of theirs from the Northern Water Tribe seek out information about their biological parents, which leads to a… quite shocking discovery.

Dyani is 12 years old, while Tarkik is 17.

Tiguaak is a nonbender, and Aput is a waterbender.

Tarkik is a waterbender, while Dyani is a firebender.

As Kya II mentioned in the Legend of Korra comics, the Water Tribes’ cultures tend to be open to LGBTQ+ individuals— but prefer that people keep their identities to themselves. This still generally applies, although Korra, Eska, and Desna tried to help make society more open-minded. As a result of this, some Northern Tribe citizens are critical of Chief Tiguaak and his family due to him being a proud and openly gay man, and his son being a demiboy (partially identifying with the male identity, but also partially not). The Southern Tribe as a whole tends to be more welcoming towards LGBTQ+ people, but their current Chief is unfortunately homophobic and transphobic, which causes a lot of political disruption.

The Northern Tribe gave a name to its capital (Yuèliàng) after Princess Yue some time during Eska and Desna’s rule. This roughly translates to “moon” in Chinese (correct me if I’m wrong!)

The White Lotus formed because the Princess of the Northern Water Tribe ran away, and this took place during Avatar Yangchen’s lifetime. (The White Lotus’ origin will be explained in the story, and will be especially important in the plot of Book 4!)

The Southern Water Tribe is an important port for transportation of products. During Korra and Asami’s lifetime, several Future Industries factories were built in the South Pole. Of course, they only let ones with clean energy sources be built near the poles, as not to cause pollution issues.

The Northern Tribe has an airport called the Jingshen Airport, and the Southern Tribe has an airport called the Bingshan Airport. Jingshen roughly translates to spirits, while Bingshan roughly translates to iceberg (it was named in memory of Avatar Aang).

Meet Rayen Sato, Asami and Korra’s adopted daughter. She was adopted when she was young, maybe two or three. She has Earth Kingdom and Water Tribe heritage, but she grew up surrounded by cultures from all four nations. She can be a little pushy and nosy, but longs to feel like she has a family, since it’s been just her and Asami for most of her life, since Korra died when she was still young. She’s the team’s resident nonbender and engineer, often providing them with the latest tech from Future Industries.

Tarkik: And I asked her how fast she could chug an entire water bottle.

Rea, loudly: 16 OUNCES IN TEN SECONDS, BITCHES!

Rea, to the White Lotus: I’m telling you, my team is competent.

Sun-hi, rushing in: Rea! Rui Lee tried to make pasta in the coffee pot and now it's broken!

Rea: *double checking supplies in the boat* Compass. CB radio. Sunscreen.

Rui Lee: Hot dog costumes!

Rea: I’m sorry, what?

Rui Lee: You know, in case we get lost at sea, and one of us, probably Sun-hi, goes mad with hunger, we’ll put these on. Sun-hi‘s vegan, so she probably won’t eat us.

Rea: Are you saying that Sun-hi would rather eat us than hot dogs?

Sun-hi: I do hate hot dogs.

Tarkik: Rea, gather the others. We need to have another Rui Lee-is-doing-something-stupid-again-and-we-have-to-stop-him-before-he-hurts-someone -probably-himself-convention.

Mayumi: Poison is a magic transmutation potion that turns people into corpses.

Tarkik: So, Sun-hi is no longer allowed to take the trash out at night.

Sun-hi, arms crossed and pouting: You'll be thanking me when the third raccoon battalion saves your ass.

Rea: Guys, I didn’t memorize my lines!

Sun-hi: Just use your lack of common sense! Everyone knows the characters in plays are dumb as fuck!

*During the play*

Rui Lee: Hey! You finally made it! Did you get the donuts?

Rea: W-what’re donuts?

Tarkik: Why would you do that?

Rea: Because I felt guilty.

Sun-hi: Guilt is a trick emotion. It’s put there by your parents to stop you from doing things that feel good.

Rui Lee: I’m this close to falling in love with [REDACTED].

Rea: Your fingertips are touching.

Rui Lee: Exactly.

Rui Lee: Guys, I have a question.

Mayumi: kys <3

Rui Lee: I love you too.

Sun-hi: Ah, yes. Siblings.

Rea: ARE YOU-

Police: Yes…three.

Mayumi: Oh, my God— What the fuck!?

Police: Wha-

Mayumi: Sun-hi FUCKING FELL OFF!

Rui Lee: Are you laughing at that video of Sun-hi and Rea fighting?

Tarkik: No.

Tarkik: I'm laughing at the comments.
